Sabrina Carpenter has been named Variety’s 2025 Hitmaker of the Year.

The singer is set to receive the honor at the publication’s ninth annual Hitmakers celebration, taking place in Los Angeles on Dec. 6. The event recognizes those in the music industry who helped propel the 25 most-consumed songs of the year, according to the Billboard and Luminate charts.

“We’ve been huge Sabrina fans for many years,” Variety executive music editor Jem Aswad said in a statement. “More than virtually any other artist working today, she balances pop with provocation, and she’s very clearly in control of her career and her artistry — Sabrina is a boss!”

Sabrina is in good company, joining previous Hitmakers of the Year Charli XCX, SZA, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Harry Styles, Jack Harlow, and Elton John and Dua Lipa

More honorees will be announced at a later date.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has a star-studded lineup booked for its induction ceremony in November, which will include performances by Doja Cat and Missy Elliott. The institution also noted Questlove, Maxwell, Killer Mike and J.l.D will be in attendance. The ceremony takes place Nov. 8 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

Two producers are coming together to release a joint album. The Alchemist and Hit-Boy announced Goldfish will drop on Oct. 24, alongside an accompanying short film of the same name. The film, as per HipHopDX, is about “a squad of hit men disguised as carpet cleaners attempting to leave a life of crime in a chaotic flurry of events.” Danny Trejo and Simon Rex are among those making an appearance. An early screening and listening session took place at the Roxy Theater in New York Wednesday night.

AI-generated videos featuring late celebrities interacting with each other in real time are circulating online. In one video, 2Pac races Kobe Bryant; in another, he asks Kobe and Elvis to say “Habana” as they take a selfie. “Habana” is likely referencing Havana, Cuba, where some conspiracy theorists believe 2Pac is currently hiding out. Other deceased individuals seen in the viral clips are Michael Jackson, Fidel Castro, Bruce Lee and The Notorious B.I.G.

“Russellmania” isn’t just the name of Russell Dickerson‘s tour. It’s a real thing that’s happening to him, much to his surprise.

It’s all thanks to “Happen to Me,” his biggest song yet. Speaking to People, Russell says when he and his co-writers penned the tune, “We were just like, yeah, it’s a cool song, and it’ll be great live.” But he says he realized “something was going on” when he began teasing the track earlier this year. It’s since become his sixth #1 hit and has also crossed over to the pop charts.

“It’s like the mania is happening, and it’s so fun,” he tells People. “I finally have a massive single on the radio that lines up with the Russell Dickerson that you see onstage.”

And to Russell, onstage is where things really count.

“When I close my eyes and dream of success, it’s the live concert setting,” he says. “It’s not on a stage receiving an award or a Grammy. It’s singing these songs and the crowd is louder than I am. If I get to play to seven-, eight-, 10-, 12,000 people a night, I will be happier than I could have ever dreamed.”

Russell predicts that 2026 is his “bucket list” year, during which he plans to do an even bigger tour, in larger-capacity venues than he has previously. He also hints that he and wife Kailey Dickerson are thinking of a new addition to their family, who’d join sons Remington Dickerson, 5, and Radford Dickerson, 2.

“No news yet,” he says. “Maybe sometime next year.”

And after all, the Oasis reunion tour still has a ways to go.

That’s according to Liam Gallagher, who took to social media in response to a fan wondering why the Oasis song “The Hindu Times” hasn’t been included in the tour’s set list.

“It’s not even HALF TIME yet,” Gallagher writes. “It’s a tour of 2 [halves].”

Of course, Gallagher’s social media proclamations should always be taken with several grains of salt. You may recall when he previously said that Oasis had recorded a new album upon reuniting, only to later clarify that he was joking.

Still, Gallagher did previously tease future Oasis shows outside of social media, telling the audience at London’s Wembley Stadium in September, “See you next year.”

In the meantime, the Oasis reunion tour is set to continue throughout October and November with dates in Asia, Australia and South America. While the formerly estranged Gallagher brothers will be there, guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs will miss the Asia and Australia dates while receiving treatment for prostate cancer.

On This Day, Oct. 9, 2009: Bruce Springsteen plays the final concert at New Jersey’s Giants Stadium

On This Day, Oct. 9, 2009…

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band headlined the last ever concert at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The show was the final night of a five-night stand at the venue in his home state. Each show opened with a performance of the then new song “Wrecking Ball,” which he wrote in response to the closing of the stadium. The song would wind up being the title track of his 17th studio album, released in 2011.

In total, Springsteen played 24 shows at the stadium from 1985 to 2009. It was replaced with MetLife Stadium, which opened in May 2011. Springsteen played MetLife for the first time in 2012 on his Wrecking Ball tour.

It’s been more than a year since Ashley Cooke topped the chart with her breakthrough #1 song, “your place.”

Now she’s releasing “the hell you are” as the follow-up, revealing she’s “been waiting for the right next single and this one feels strong.”

When it came time to shoot the song’s video, she enlisted two of her besties to help her out.

“It was so much fun,” Ashley says. “The music video that we shot for ‘hell you are’ was an absolute blast. I had two of my actual real-life friends be in it. So, Emily and Hailey, we had the best time.”

To bring the song’s message to life, the threesome got the chance to go a little wild.

“My whole idea for the video was to kind of smash all of this guy’s stuff, like ruin all of his stuff,” Ashley explains. “He was supposed to come to a dinner that I made for him and then he bails on the phone and I asked my friends to come over and we ended up just kind of ruining this dinner. There was spaghetti all over the floor.”

Ashley co-wrote “the hell you are,” which she’ll follow with “tin foil hat” on Oct. 17 and “baby blues” on Nov. 14.
