Newcomer Preston Cooper got a standing ovation when he made his Grand Ole Opry debut Friday night.

Preston personally asked his friend Vince Gill to bring him out.

“I got a call from Preston asking me to introduce him for his debut,” Vince told the crowd. “We’ve written a few songs together, and I’ve cut a few of them that’ll be coming out soon. I think the world of this kid – he’s one of the best singers I’ve heard in a long time.”

Riley Green extended the Opry’s invitation to Preston on the final night of the Damn Country Music Tour in September at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

“This doesn’t feel real. It’s definitely emotional,” Preston said after his performance. “I want to thank the Opry team for having me – it’s the greatest honor to play the Grand Ole Opry. Having my family and friends here means the world to me. I don’t know if anything could ever top this moment.”

Preston played his current top-30 hit, “Weak,” from his debut album, Toledo Talkin’.

The U.K.’s poet laureate, Simon Armitage, has released a new poem inspired by Pink Floyd’s iconic album Wish You Were Here.

The poem, Dear Pink Floyd, is part of the band’s upcoming 50th anniversary reissue of the album, dropping Dec. 12. Armitage reads it in a new video posted to YouTube.

“I was thinking about the album and their noise, and what effect that has had on people right across the globe,” Armitage says of the poem. “I didn’t know whether I could put into words what that music sounded like. I only get involved with projects if I think I can’t do them, so this was a natural invitation.”

“I wanted to write something that was album-shaped, that would fit onto the side of an LP and bleed right to the margins of a square,” he adds. “I was trying to mimic the noise of Wish You Were Here – there are no gaps in it. Like a wall of warm sound. I wanted the text to be a physical manifestation of that.”

Finally, he notes, “There aren’t many artistic experiences in the form of noise that send shivers up my spine and make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. But when I put Wish You Were Here on as a record, and it begins, I get that feeling every single time.”

Wish You Were Here 50 will be released in a variety of formats, including a digital release that features the original album mixed in Dolby Atmos. It will feature 25 bonus tracks, including six tracks that have never been released before.

The bonus material also includes 16 live bootleg recordings from a concert at the Los Angeles Sports Arena on April 26, 1975, which are getting their first-ever official release.

Leon Thomas‘ 2024 hit “Mutt” has made its way into the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 38 weeks after its release, landing at #10. It’s the third-longest trip to the top 10 in the chart’s history and Leon’s first top-10 song as a solo artist. “This would not have been possible without my PHOLKS, so thank you to every single one of you who has made this possible and let this be a sign to keep on working and chase your dreams!” Leon wrote on Instagram. His new EP, Pholks, is out now.

Cardi B is temporarily pausing her promo run, and she hopes her team enjoys the break. “To my glam team, to my label, to my internal team — all that s*** — y’all better have y’all f****** fun because I’m going back to f****** work, harder than ever,” she said on a recent Instagram Live. “To my fans, I know y’all [are] a little bored right now. It’s like, ‘Damn, b****, you haven’t been giving us content. You haven’t been doing this, you haven’t been doing that,’” she continued. “Have patience ‘cause mother is a little handicapped, but I’m coming [back] hard.”

Ludacris surprised fans at the One MusicFest in Atlanta with a set celebrating his 25th anniversary. He was joined by Jermaine Dupri, Jadakiss, Jeezy, Chingy, Usher, Bobby Valentino, Tyler, The Creator and Fergie. Luda was then surprised his inspiration, LL COOL J — a moment he reflected on after the show. “I don’t even know if I have words for that — I feel like a little kid, man,” he said, according to Vibe. Of his performance, he said it was favorite to date. “It’s going to take me a week to process, bro,” he said.

RaeLynn‘s ready with her five-song Jingle Jangle Rock EP, just in time for the 2025 holidays.

The set combines two covers with three originals.

“Christmas has always been one of my favorite times of year,” RaeLynn says. “I wanted this EP to capture all sides of the season – the fun, the chaos, and the heart. ‘Jingle Jangle Rock’ brings the party, ‘Redneck Christmas’ keeps it country, and ‘The Barn’ brings it all back home.”

“Recording songs I love like Alan Jackson’s ‘I Only Want You for Christmas’ and [Chuck Berry‘s] ‘Run Run Rudolph’ made it even more special,” she adds.

The title track is available now, ahead of the full EP’s arrival Nov. 7.

‘Jingle Jangle Rock’ is my kind of Christmas song – loud, fun, and full of twang,” RaeLynn says. “I wanted to put a little honky-tonk stomp under the mistletoe this year and it was a ton of fun to write this song. Santa’s got his cowboy boots on, and so do I!”

Jingle Jangle Rock is RaeLynn’s first project after returning to Big Machine, the label where she scored her Platinum hit, “God Made Girls,” in 2014, after competing on season 2 of The Voice in 2012.

With Deftones releasing their newest album, private music, in August, the band now has a milestone 10 studio records in their discography. So, which one is frontman Chino Moreno‘s favorite?

Speaking with Revolver, Moreno names Deftones’ 1997 sophomore effort, Around the Fur, as “one of my favorites — if not my favorite record — of ours.”

“There was something about catching lightning in a bottle with that record,” Moreno says. “It’s this unbridled energy that we captured in that moment.”

Around the Fur includes the Deftones classics “My Own Summer (Shove It)” and “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away).” It was also the first Deftones album to chart on the Billboard 200, paving the way for their breakthrough album, White Pony, which was released in 2000.

“That record definitely stood the test of time,” Moreno adds of Around the Fur. “And I love it for that.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Moreno speaks about the process of putting together the annual Dia De Los Deftones festival.

“When we put our wish list together [for a lineup] at the beginning, we usually start doing it like a month after the festival’s done to plan for the next year,” Moreno says. “It could be anything [including the] outlandish — like I had Morrissey and all kinds of other stuff in there, knowing it’s probably not gonna happen.”

The 2025 Dia De Los Deftones takes place Saturday in San Diego. Along with a headlining set from Deftones, the lineup includes Clipse, 2Hollis, Rico Nasty and Deafheaven.

Sean “Diddy” Combs is expected to be released from prison in three years, according to federal inmate records.

The Bureau of Prisons posted what they believe to be Sean Combs’ release date from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, which is set for May 8, 2028, but it can change.

His sentence could be reduced by 12 months if his attorney’s request to have him sent to Fort Dix is granted and he is accepted and successfully completes a Residential Drug Abuse Program, a 9-12 month treatment program offered by the Federal Bureau of Prisons for federal inmates with substance abuse problems.

The rap mogul was sentenced to 50 months in prison earlier this month following his conviction earlier this year on two prostitution-related charges.

He was acquitted by the jury of the most serious charges he faced, racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.

Federal prosecutors argued Combs deserved at least 11 years in prison, while Combs’ lawyers asked for a sentence of no more than 14 months.

Combs received credit for the year he already served in custody at MDC Brooklyn.

Last week, Combs’ attorney, Alexandra Shapirofiled a notice of appeal in the Federal District Court of New York stating their intent to appeal his conviction and over four-year prison sentence.

His attorneys previously argued the conviction should not stand because the statute, transportation for the purposes of prostitution, does not apply.

Good Morning America has reached out to Combs’ attorney for additional comment.

The Stray Cats have canceled their latest tour.

The band was supposed to kick off their a new tour on Oct. 25 in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, but canceled the first two dates due to frontman Brian Setzer suffering a “serious illness.” Now, they’ve scrapped the whole thing.

“I’m heartbroken to share, due to serious illness, I am unable to perform and very regrettably have to cancel our Stray Cats tour,” Setzer shared in a statement. “I know this affects so many people and I am devastated to have to deliver this news.”

He added, “I’ve been trying everything I can to go on and do these shows, but it is just not possible. I’ve been looking forward so much to being on stage with my band mates again and playing for all of our amazing fans, and I’m gutted.”

The tour was to feature original band members Setzer, Lee Rocker and Slim Jim Phantom, and would have been their first trek since February 2024. It was also supposed to be their first tour since Setzer’s announcement in February that he’d been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and that one of the side effects was that he was no longer able to play guitar, although in September he shared video of him playing guitar again.

Ticketholders will get refunds at the point of purchase.
