Five people were arrested Thursday on charges stemming from the 2023 overdose deaths of Blondie rocker Chris Stein‘s daughter and actor Robert De Niro‘s grandson, law enforcement sources told ABC News.

Sofia Marks, known as the Percocet Princess, was charged in 2023 with selling the drugs that caused the death of De Niro’s grandson Leandro De Niro-Rodriguez that year.

The five new defendants — Grant McIver, Bruce Epperson, Eddie Barreto, John Nicolas and Roy Nicolas — were allegedly members of a criminal network that distributed thousands of counterfeit prescription opioid pills laced with fentanyl, among other drugs, to teenagers and young adults living in New York City, prosecutors said.

According to the indictment, the fentanyl pills distributed by the defendants caused the deaths of three 19-year-olds, including Leandro De Niro-Rodriguez and Akira Stein, one of the Blondie co-founder’s two daughters. The indictment does not name the victims, but law enforcement sources confirmed the names to ABC News.

The Starz series BMF has come to an end after four seasons, according to Variety and other industry outlets. Variety reports that sources say previously teased BMF spinoffs are still in the works.

The cancellation comes months after the show’s fourth season, and rumors that a rift had developed between star Lil Meech and executive producer 50 Cent.

50 had helped Lil Meech and his relatives when Big Meech was in prison, casting Lil Meech in BMF, the story about Big Meech’s Black Mafia Family gang. When Big Meech was released from prison and seen hanging out with his rival Rick Ross, HotNewHipHop reported 50 took to social media with a series of posts, one of which seemed to suggest the show was over. The post has since been deleted.

In response to the show’s cancellation, 50 posted a photo of Lil Meech holding a sign that reads “OUT OF WORK” with the caption, “What next season little [ninja emoji].” He then shut down rumors that he had anything to do with the show coming to an end.

“I am deeply concerned by the widespread assumption that I had any involvement in the recent cancellation of BMF,” 50 added. “I intend to thoroughly investigate this matter to understand exactly how and why it occurred Thank you.”

Billie Eilish was given the music innovator award at the WSJ. Magazine Innovator Awards in New York Wednesday, and from the podium, she suggested that billionaires be a bit more generous.

In introducing Billie, Stephen Colbert noted that she raised more than $11.5 million in donations through her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour. That money will go to her Changemaker Program, which helps organizations fighting food insecurity and the climate crisis.

Accepting the award, Billie said, “My fans are the only reason I care about anything, and I want to thank them for their empathy and compassion.”

She noted, “We’re in a time right now where the world is really, really bad and really dark, and people need empathy and help more than ever, especially in our country. And I’d say if you have money, it would be great to use it for good things and give it to some people that need it.”

“Love you all, but there’s a few people in here that have a lot more money than me,” she continued. “And if you are a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate, but yeah, give your money away, shorties.”

Billboard reported that among the people in the room during the speech was Meta owner Mark Zuckerberg, who’s worth an estimated $228 billion.

Dave Mustaine confirms rerecorded version of Metallica’s ‘Ride the Lightning’ on final Megadeth album

The final Megadeth album will include a rerecorded version of the Metallica song “Ride the Lightning,” frontman Dave Mustaine confirms in an interview with Rolling Stone.

“It wasn’t really that I wanted to do my version,” Mustaine says. “I think that we all wanted it to turn out a certain way, and for me, this was about something so much more than how a song turns out. It was about respect.”

Mustaine received a writing credit for “Ride the Lightning,” the title track off Metallica’s 1984 sophomore album, since it uses riffs he had written while he was an early member of the future “Enter Sandman” metallers. However, Mustaine didn’t get to play “Ride the Lightning” on the record, since Metallica fired him in 1983 and replaced him with Kirk Hammett.

“Our intentions were pure,” Mustaine says of rerecording “Ride the Lightning.” “I didn’t have any reason I was going to say, ‘Oh, hey man, this thing that we’ve had for 40 years where you guys will never tour with me, me doing the song is going to change things.’ That wasn’t it at all. It was more about: This is my life going forward. I want to do things that are respectable.”

Mustaine adds that his former Metallica bandmates James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich didn’t know about the “Ride the Lighting” rerecord ahead of time, and they haven’t reached out since.

“I think the whole purpose of this was not to try and rekindle relationships or anything,” Mustaine says. “It was about showing respect to a man [Hetfield] that … I don’t believe he thinks I respect him and I wanted to make that clear.”

The final Megadeth album, which is self-titled, is due out Jan. 23, 2026. Lead single “Tipping Point” is out now.

Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham have been on the outs since a disagreement at their 2018 MusiCares Person of the Year benefit, but it seems like their relationship may be on the mend.

The Fleetwood Mac stars appear on the latest episode of the Song Exploder podcast. They were interviewed separately about their track “Frozen Love,” from their recently reissued 1973 solo album Buckingham Nicks. During the episode, Stevie revealed that they are once again talking to each other.

Stevie shared the revelation when asked if she remembered the day she met Lindsey, replying, “I do. Lindsey and I started talking about it last night and it was like, this whole thing seems really like yesterday to us.”

Later, while discussing a particular song lyric in “Frozen Love,” she again mentioned talking to Lindsey.

“This is a question that I’ve gone back and forth over the last few days, ‘fate gave you me for a lover.’ I would swear to God, the words I wrote [were] ‘fate gave you me for a lover,’ fate,” she says. “But when I hear myself sing that line, it sounds like I’m saying hate. But I would have never have written ‘hate gave you me for a lover’ because I never felt that way.”

She then adds, “I’m sorry, Lindsey. I’m calling him later.”

Stevie divulged what caused the rift between her and Lindsey in a 2024 interview with Rolling Stone, noting that at the 2018 MusiCares event he “wasn’t very nice to anybody.”

“I could hear my very pragmatic father — and by the way, my mom and dad liked Lindsey a lot — saying, ‘It’s time for you guys to get a divorce,'” she said.

A$AP Rocky is a man of many hats, and it’s because he’s thinking about legacy. In his cover story for Perfect Magazine, he shared that he makes moves based on creativity, not the desire to stay relevant.

“I don’t do all these different endeavours just because I got to be the first at the top of the mountain and plant the flag,” Rocky said. “Because it’s not really about who did it first. It’s about who did it the best.”

“Everything I do is based off building legacy. That’s why I’m not so eager to just drop, drop, drop. I don’t do things to just try and stay relevant, or keep my name in the conversation,” he continued. “I try to do natural things, creative, ambitious things that really satisfy me.”

One of Rocky’s titles is actor; he talked to the magazine about working with Spike Lee and Denzel Washington in Highest 2 Lowest.

“As a New Yorker, it was a dream come true to be between Denzel and Spike Lee. Their dynamic alone is just historical. So I’m honoured to be an honorary member of their legacy,” he said.

He also said Lee gave him creative freedom to develop his character, Yung Felon, because he felt “there were a few things the character needed to become more real.”

“They put me in the right environment that was familiar with a little nostalgia, and it allowed me to take the character to different places, and borrow stories from the people I was around growing up, and their circumstances,” Rocky said. “I appreciate that [Lee] was receptive to all my changes for my personal character.”

Highest 2 Lowest is available to stream on Apple TV and Prime Video.

When Soundgarden is inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the grunge icons are hoping to honor their hometown of Seattle.

“We wanted to keep it as Seattle-centric as possible and include some people that were there with us in the beginning,” drummer Matt Cameron tells The Seattle Times of Soundgarden’s plans for the ceremony.

The Seattle musicians taking part include Pearl Jam‘s Mike McCready, Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains, Heart‘s Nancy Wilson and Brandi Carlile. Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless, a non-Seattleite but noted Soundgarden superfan, will also be involved.

“To have our peers, friends and creative collaborators from [Seattle] share that with us is very important,” says guitarist Kim Thayil. “It’s very important because it’s part of our identity.”

“We’re not simply ‘rock guys’ in this band Soundgarden,” he continues. “We’re rock guys in this band Soundgarden that helped establish the Seattle scene and the sound. The geography is very important to our identity. It’s where we are, it’s where we came from. It’s who we are.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Cameron and Thayil speak on the upcoming final Soundgarden album, which will include recordings frontman Chris Cornell left behind prior to his death in 2017.

“It’s a way to post tribute to our beloved brother,” Thayil says. “All of it just has that much more weight emotionally and creatively, and we don’t take that lightly.”

The 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony takes place Nov. 8 in Los Angeles and will stream live on Disney+. Other inductees include The White Stripes, Bad Company, Joe Cocker, Outkast, Cyndi Lauper and Chubby Checker.

Disney is the parent company of ABC News.

Pink isn’t just a stadium-filling pop star — she’s also a philanthropist and activist. At the annual Action Against Hunger Gala in New York City Tuesday, she was honored with the Humanitarian Award for her work supporting food security and health for children.

Speaking at the event, Pink said that to her, Action Against Hunger means “refusing to look away. Refusing to sit by. Refusing to believe that somebody else is going to jump at the chance and, refusing to believe that any child anywhere should go to bed hungry in a world that wastes so much.”

Pink attended the event with husband Carey Hart, son Jameson Hart and daughter Willow Hart.

The gala raised more than $2 million for the charity’s mission, including delivering assistance to the hardest-to-reach communities in conflict zones or those impacted by natural disasters.
