Bryan Adams has released the title track and video for his brand-new album, So Happy It Hurts, due out next year.

Bryan says in a statement, “The title song…is about freedom, autonomy, spontaneity, and the thrill of the open road. The album of the same name, touches on many of the ephemeral things in life that are really the secret to happiness — most importantly, human connection.”

Bryan says those themes were inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic.  “The pandemic and lockdown really brought home the truth that spontaneity can be taken away,” he explains. “Suddenly all touring stopped, no one could jump in the car and go.”

In the video for “So Happy It Hurts,” an upbeat rocker about the joys of hitting the road, Bryan does just that, driving a convertible with, variously, his real-life mother, a dog, a group of young girls dressed for a dance recital, a couple of women twerking, headbanging guitarists and a drummer, drag queens, a bodybuilder, and a dancing woman wearing a sari.

Bryan will no doubt perform some songs from the new album at a new residency he’s kicking off at the Encore Theater at the Wynn Las Vegas starting on November 10. Those dates run through November 20.

So Happy It Hurts will be available digitally, as well as a deluxe CD, and a limited edition box set that includes a hardbound book, the album on vinyl and an autographed photo. You can pre-order the album now.

So Happy It Hurts is scheduled for release March 11, 2022.

Cardi B is letting fans knows she can now officiate their wedding.

“By the way WORLD I’m licensed to marry people,” the “WAP” rapper tweeted over the weekend, following the latest episode of Cardi Tries _, where Cardi took on the role of an officiant.

During the episode, which was released ahead of National Coming Out Day, Cardi, along with “ring bearer” Raven-Symoné, helped to marry same-sex couple Brandi and Shannon during their pop-up wedding.

The wedding surprise was initiated by bride Brandi, who enlisted both Cardi and Raven to help her marry her bride-to-be, Shannon, with an impromptu ceremony that was originally disguised as an engagement party.

“You guys are probably wondering why I’m here,” Cardi said during the event. “I’m gonna get these two beautiful ladies married.”

Pink may be American, but it appears that the U.K. can’t get enough of her and her music.

The British licensing company PPL has compiled data from British radio stations and TV channels, and has determined that Pink is the most-played female artist of the 21st Century in the U.K.  She’s scored 13 platinum awards in that country, and received a special Outstanding Contribution to Music trophy at the 2019 BRIT Awards, the U.K. equivalent of the Grammys.

According to Britian’s Official Charts Company, Pink has also scored three U.K. number-one singles and three number-one albums, with her best-selling song in that territory being 2013’s “Just Give Me a Reason.”

Madonna is second on the PPL’s most-played list, followed by Katy Perry, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Adele, Beyoncé, Kylie Minogue, British girl group Little Mix, and Whitney Houston.  The rest of the top 20 includes acts like Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera and Ariana Grande.

Ozzy Osbourne has been dealing with a variety of health ailments over the past few years, but luckily, COVID-19 isn’t one of the them. In an interview with Metal Hammer, the Black Sabbath frontman hypothesizes that being the Prince of Darkness may have helped him in that regard.

“My wife had the virus; my daughter had the virus and I never got it,” Osbourne says. “Being a devil worshipper does have its good points!”

It’s unclear whether whether Ozzy meant his daughter Kelly or Aimee contracted COVID-19. His wife Sharon, of course, was briefly hospitalized with the virus late last year, and has since recovered. Two of Ozzy and Sharon’s granddaughters also tested positive.

In addition to his connection with Satan, Ozzy also got the COVID-19 vaccine earlier this year.

As for Osbourne’s other health issues, the 72-year-old tells Metal Hammer he’s “in for more surgery” for his neck, which he injured in 2019 after suffering a fall in his home. He also had a bad case of pneumonia in 2019, as well, and revealed in 2020 that he’d been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

That hasn’t stopped him from making music, though — Ozzy’s next solo album, the follow-up to 2020’s Ordinary Man, is a “work in progress,” he says.

Say It Isn’t So: Happy 75th birthday, Daryl Hall

Say It Isn’t So: Happy 75th birthday, Daryl Hall
ABC

Say it isn’t so! Daryl Hall celebrates a milestone birthday Monday, when he will turn 75.  Here are some things you may not know about the blond half of Daryl Hall & John Oates, music’s most successful duo:

–Born Daryl Hohl, Hall met John Oates in 1967 in the service elevator of Philadelphia’s Adelphi Ballroom, where they both were trying to escape a fight between rival gangs.

–Prior to forming a duo with Oates, Hall was released a 1969 album as part of the rock duo Gulliver. He was also one of the group of musicians who, under the name Electric Indian, released the 1969 top 20 hit “Keem-O-Sabe.”

–Hall’s favorite hobby is buying and restoring historic homes. In 2014, he even hosted a show on the DIY Network called Daryl’s Restoration Over-Hall.

–Since 2007, Hall has hosted Live from Daryl’s House, an ongoing concert series that features him duetting with fellow musicians.  At first, the series originated from his home in Millerton, NY; now it takes place at his club, Daryl’s House, in Pawling, NY.

–Don’t ever refer to his music as “blue-eyed soul.”  Daryl hates the term, insisting, “Soul music is not about race.” He doesn’t like the term “yacht rock” either, and don’t even think about calling them Hall & Oates: It’s Daryl Hall & John Oates.  “The reason we’ve always insisted on our full names is because we consider ourselves to be two individual artists, Hall told the San Jose Mercury News. “We’re not really a classic duo in that respect.”

–Daryl Hall and John Oates have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Animals Reimagined: A Tribute to Pink Floyd includes contributions from former Yes keyboardists Rick Wakeman and Patrick Moraz, current Yes singer Jon Davison and bassist Billy Sherwood, longtime Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre, ex-Blue Öyster Cult bassist Joe Bouchard, and many others.

The album, which can be pre-ordered on CD and digitally now, also will be issued as a vinyl LP in 2022.

Pink Floyd’s Animals was released in January 1977 and peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200. It has gone on to sell more than four million copies in the U.S. The album, which was written mostly by singer/bassist Roger Waters, featured lyrics that compares the classes of human society with three animals — pigs, dogs and sheep.

Animals Reimagined follows a similar star-studded project released in May that paid tribute to Pink Floyd’s 1975 Wish You Were Here album.

Here’s the Animals Reimagined: A Tribute to Pink Floyd track list, along with the musicians featured on each song and the groups they’re associated with:

Paul McCartney says John Lennon instigated the breakup of The Beatles

It’s been over 50 years since Paul McCartney announced that The Beatles were going their separate ways. While fans still speculate who initiated the breakup, Sir Paul has again set the record straight.

“I didn’t instigate the split. That was our Johnny,” McCartney, 79, said regarding the late John Lennon when talking to BBC Radio 4’s This Cultural Life The Guardian obtained an advanced copy of the special, which is scheduled to air October 23.

McCartney recalled, “John walked into a room one day and said, ‘I am leaving The Beatles.'”

Paul said that announcement led to “the most difficult period” of his life. He and his band mates Ringo Starr and George Harrison were “left to pick up the pieces” by being forced to keep Lennon’s exit a secret.

“So for a few months we had to pretend. It was weird because we all knew it was the end of The Beatles but we couldn’t just walk away,” Sir Paul reflected.

The pressure eventually got the best of McCartney. He said he became “fed up of hiding it” and admittedly “let the cat out of the bag” when promoting his eponymous debut solo album on April 10, 1970.

McCartney also reflected on the infamous lawsuit he brought against his band mates, saying it was because he didn’t want to be controlled by manager Allen Klein.

“I had to fight, and the only way I could fight was in suing the other Beatles,” he remarked. “They thanked me for it years later.”

McCartney also thinks that, had Lennon stayed, The Beatles “could have” survived for longer. “This was my band, this was my job, this was my life, so I wanted it to continue,” he said.

Beth Garrabrant

After spending last week at the bottom of the Billboard 200 albums chart, Taylor Swift‘s Fearless (Taylor’s Version) skyrocketed to the number-one spot this week and has been certified the second-best-selling album of the year.

Fearless (Taylor’s Version) — the re-recorded version of her 2008 album — jumped to number one after moving a robust 152,000 units the past week, a 1,931% surge. It last peaked at number one in April.

Thanks to Taylor adding limited edition signed CDs and two vinyl LPs for fans to buy, fans snatched up 146,000 album copies, which is an unprecedented 15,807% jump from the past week. Breaking down the number further, 77,000 of the sold copies were CDs and 67,000 were vinyl LPs, while cassettes and digital downloads were tied at 1,000 each. Listeners also streamed the album 8.72 million times.

However, it’s the physical sales that has music insiders buzzing.  Fearless (Taylor’s Version) now crosses over 400,000 albums sold — making it the second-best-selling album of the year. Taylor also is behind this year’s best-selling album, as fans snatched up 434,000 copies of her 2020 release, Evermore, since January.

Additionally, Taylor has the seventh-best-selling album of the year, with Folklore moving 228,000 copies in 2021.

Don’t expect Adele to kiss and tell!

With less than a week until the world is graced with new music from the British singer, she hopped on Instagram Live over the weekend to get fans excited.

During the Live she played a snippet of her upcoming single “Easy on Me,” and also answered some fan questions. However, when one fan tried to get a bit personal, Adele didn’t quite know how to respond.

In a video shared to Twitter the “Rolling in the Deep” singer reads a fan question aloud that asked what her body count is, referring to how many sexual partners she’s had.

Adele responded, “What’s that?” as she continued to scroll through the comment section.

The powerhouse singer also fielded questions about her favorite foods, other artists — yes she’s excited for Beyoncé‘s next album — and her favorite thing to do during lockdown.

“Drink wine, obviously,” she cheekily admitted.
