Over the weekend, the Coachella festival kept its reputation for surprises intact: Billboard reports that Harry Styles was among the many stars who brought out unannounced guests during their sets.

During Harry Styles‘ set on Friday, he brought out Canadian icon Shania Twain, of all people, to perform her ’90s classics “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” and “You’re Still the One.” According to Billboard, Harry told the crowd, “In the car with my mother as a child, this lady taught me to sing. She also taught me that men are trash.”

He then told Shania, “But to you, for the memories you gave me with my mother, I’m forever grateful.”

She replied, “I’m at a loss for words, I’m a bit starstruck. When I was writing this song, you were just a kid. It’s kind of a dream, and very surreal, to be sitting right here with you.”

Harry, of course, has displayed his reverence for older female stars in the past by striking up a friendship — and performing several times — with Stevie Nicks. Billboard notes that Harry also debuted two new songs at Coachella from his upcoming album Harry’s House: “Boyfriends” and “Late Night Talking.”

And speaking of bringing out Canadian superstars as surprise guests, Justin Bieber was a surprise guest during Daniel Caesar‘s Friday set, joining his fellow Canadian singer to perform their Grammy-nominated hit “Peaches.”

One of those guests wasn’t exactly a surprise though: Justin Bieber was rumored to be appearing during Daniel Caesar’s Friday set hours before it happened. And right on cue, a shirtless Biebs came onstage to join his fellow Canadian performer to perform “Peaches.”

Billie Eilish, the youngest headliner in the history of Coachella, brought out Blur and Gorillaz singer Damon Albarn — the same guy who earlier this year made headlines by saying that Taylor Swift isn’t a songwriter. According to Billboard, Albarn performed the Gorillaz hit “Feel Good Inc.“ De La Soul member Posdnuos also came onstage for that performance.

Billie told the crowd that Albarn “changed my view of what music and art and creation could be.”  She also welcomed Khalid to perform their collaboration “Lovely.”

One of the most popular tourist destinations for Beatles fans to visit is London’s Abbey Road Studios and the famous crosswalk in front of the facility, where the Fab Four were famously photographed walking across for the cover of their Abbey Road album.

Now, The Beatles are asking fans to share photos and videos they may have taken for use in an upcoming documentary about the studio, where the band recorded nearly all of their albums.

A message on The Beatles’ social media pages reads, “Have you ever made the pilgrimage to Abbey Road’s crossing, and captured the moment? [The] Ventureland [film production company] are looking for the best crossing selfies, photos and videos throughout the ages, to be included in a feature documentary on Abbey Road Studios. You can email yours in to abbey.road@venture.land.”

The film in question is the documentary If These Walls Could Sing, which Paul McCartney‘s daughter Mary is directing.

Details of the movie were first announced in January 2021 on Abbey Road Studios’ official website.

According to a press release posted on the site, the film will feature interviews with a star-studded cast of musicians and is intended to be the centerpiece of the studio’s 90th anniversary celebrations, which kicked off in last November.

For the making of the documentary, film crews were allowed to have intimate access to Abbey Road Studios’ premises for the first time ever.

Mary is an accomplished photographer who recently contributed photos to the packaging of her father’s latest album, McCartney III. She also co-founded the Meat Free Monday campaign with her father and her sister, Stella, to promote vegetarianism.

While Jack White is traveling the world on his Supply Issues tour, you can listen to the shows from the comfort of your own home.

Official audio from every concert on White’s international run will be released via the live music streaming platform Nugs.net. The recordings, taken straight from the soundboard, will be available just days after each show.

“While we’ve been recording all Jack White live shows for years, only now did it finally feel right to release all of them quickly after the performance,” says Third Man Records co-founder Ben Blackwell. “And with Nugs.net as our partner…we couldn’t be happier with the results.”

The Supply Issues tour, which kicked off last week in Detroit, is set to continue throughout North American all the way into June, followed by a summer trip to Europe. White will then return to the U.S. for another go-round in August.

White is supporting his new solo album Fear of the Dawn, which features the single “Taking Me Back.” He’ll release another record, Entering Heaven Alive, on July 22.

Camila Cabello channeled Britney Spears in her latest outfit, wearing a denim-on-denim dress reminiscent of the number the singer wore to the 2001 American Music Awards.  The look was panned at the time but has since become one of Britney’s most iconic looks.  As for Camila, Hollywood Life adds she accessorized her denim dress with a bedazzled denim trench coat worth $10,000.

Lady Gaga is the number-one artist BTS hopes to collaborate with, and the internet was sent ablaze when J-Hope managed to snag a picture with Mother Monster.  “Today was a really glorious day.  When it comes to a show, there’s none like Lady Gaga!!! It was a special day for me, since I wanted to see her performance so much,” the BTS singer raved. “Today, on the stage she was incredible, but off the stage she was so professional and there was so much to learn from her, and every comment from her for me will stay with me for my whole life.”  No word if Gaga is going to jump into the studio with BTS.

We got a rare peek into Taylor Swift’s romance, thanks to her longtime love Joe Alwyn, who explained to ELLE UK why they are such a notoriously private couple.  “We live in a culture that is so increasingly intrusive… the more you give — and frankly, even if you don’t give it — something will be taken,” he explained.  Even though they don’t “want to be guarded and private,” Alwyn noted, “It’s more a response to something else.”

Speaking of Taylor, pal Selena Gomez has some thoughts about dating in her 30s.  Taking to TikTok, the singer recited Leslie Mann’s diatribe from The Other Woman about how the dating pool turns into a puddle when you get older. Selena, who turns 30 in July, joked, “Me walking into my 30s, I’m ok with it tho.”

Justin Bieber isn’t scheduled to perform at Coachella — or is he?

According to TMZ, the Grammy winner will be crashing his “Peaches” collaborator Daniel Caesar‘s opening night set as a special guest.  According to the outlet’s spies, Justin will take the stage to perform a rendition of their smash hit.

That begs to question if their third collaborator, Giveon, will also make an entrance.  So far, no word if that will happen.

Either way, Justin does have a gap in his schedule that would allow him to fly out to California and sneak into the music festival.  The singer is currently on his Justice World Tour and is resting up after performing in Miami on Wednesday night.  He isn’t scheduled to hit the road again until Tuesday, where he’ll resume his tour in Cincinnati.

Should he show up, this won’t be the first time Justin unexpectedly crashes Coachella.  He previously joined “One More Time” singer Ariana Grande on stage in 2019 following the cancellation of his tour at the time.

Coachella, which tapped Harry Styles, The Weeknd, Swedish House Mafia and Billie Eilish as its headliners, kicks off tonight.  The festival runs Friday through Sunday on both the weekends of April 15 through April 17, and again on April 22 and April 24.

GAYLE‘s current tour takes her to San Francisco tonight, and in a few weeks, she’ll join AJR on their tour as an opening act. It’s her first major tour, but “abcdefu” singer says the inspiration for her live show didn’t come from watching another artist’s concert — it came from watching a movie.

“I was watching this movie…a couple of months into quarantine…it was Almost Famous,” GAYLE tells ABC Audio, referring to the acclaimed 2000 Cameron Crowe film about a teen journalist who goes on the road with a fictional rock band to profile them for Rolling Stone.

“It was right when they were on tour and [the writer] was seeing the first show that this rock band was doing,” recalls GAYLE. “And I remember, there’s even a specific moment where the main performer was like, ‘I want to look at the one person who’s not enjoying the show and make them enjoy the show.'”

She laughs, “They didn’t particularly say it like that — that’s the most, like, PG-ish version I could say!”

But, says GAYLE, that was her “aha” moment when it came to imagining what kind of live performer she wants to be.

“I was like, ‘That is what I want to do,'” she remembers. “I just saw this…room just packed with sweaty people ready to have a good time and all ready to rock out together. And I literally was like, ‘That’s what I want to do…that is what I want my live show to be.'”

“And then everything I’ve done has been trying to take that energy and put it into my show,” she says.

GAYLE’s live shows include the songs on her debut EP, some older tunes, some unreleased tracks and a cover of Joan Jett‘s “Bad Reputation.”

The children of Metallica are hitting the road together.

Bastardane, featuring James Hetfield‘s son Castor Hetfield on drums, and OTTTO, featuring Robert Trujillo‘s son Tye Trujillo on bass, have announced a co-headlining tour, making stops in a number of California cities in May and June.

Both Bastardane and OTTTO are also playing the Bottle Rock Napa Valley festival over Memorial Day Weekend, which Metallica is headlining.

By the way, Hetfield and Trujillo aren’t the only Metallica members with kids following in their dads’ rocker footsteps. Lars Ulrich‘s children Myles and Layne Ulrich also have a band, Taipei Houston.
