Cardi B tried her hand at tennis in her latest Cardi Tries Messenger series.  She teamed with her “Wild Side” collaborator, Normani, to see if they have what it takes to be the next Venus and Serena Williams.  Cardi, who’s left handed, crashes a children’s tennis lesson and discovers she is not athletically blessed.

AJR was on Jeopardy! Thursday night — kinda.  The final Double Jeopardy clue, for $2,000, was, “At the 2021 show, this letter-perfect indie trio gave a smokin’ performance of ‘Bang!'”  The answer was “Who is AJR?,” but, as the band revealed on their Instagram story, “No one got it!”  They later shared footage of their performance.

Justin Bieber is not built for the outdoors. He posted an Instagram video of him trying to chop wood like a shirtless lumberjack, and failing. “I’m out of my element,” he captioned the video.

Olivia Rodrigo has been performing Gwen Stefani‘s No Doubt hit, “Just a Girl,” while on tour, and Gwen finally noticed. “U killed it,” Gwen shared while posting a clip of Olivia’s recent performance to her Instagram story. Olivia responded with a sobbing emoji. Fans are now hoping Gwen will crash one of Olivia’s shows.

Camila Cabello released the music video for “Hasta Los Dientes,” which features Maria Becerra. Camila wears a frost-blue number, complete with a minty wig and frilled dress, for her colorful music video.

The Zappa Band, a group mostly made up of former members of the late Frank Zappa‘s backing bands, will launch its first-ever headlining tour in June, a series of dates in the Northeast that will follow a trio of concerts in California.

First up for The Zappa Band are California shows on May 22 in Banning, June 3 in Escondido, and June 5 at the famed Los Angeles-area club the Whisky a Go Go.

The U.S. trek kicks off in earnest on June 12 in Homer, New York, and winds down with a June 26 concert in Plymouth, New Hampshire. The 11-date outing also includes a June 16 stop at Sony Hall in New York City.

The Zappa Band lineup includes lead singer/guitarist Ray White, guitarist/keyboardist Mike Keneally, bassist Scott Thunes and keyboardist/sax player Robert Martin, who all performed live and recorded with Frank. Rounding the group are two former members of Dweezil Zappa‘s Zappa Plays Zappa tribute group — guitarist Jamie Kime and drummer Joe “Vaultmeister” Travers, the latter of whom also served as a Zappa archivist.

“A lot of amazing Frank Zappa music played with intensity, humor and love,” says Kenneally with regard to what fans can expect from Zappa Band concerts. “We’ll be enjoying the opportunity to play different material from night to night; we know that often people like to attend multiple shows, and our repertoire is presently large enough to be able to change things up.”

You can check out a list of the group’s confirmed shows at The Zappa Band’s official Facebook page.

Kelly Clarkson got pranked by Melissa Rivers on her daytime talk show. Kelly is not a fan of spiders and was fooled by a contraption that flings a fake arachnid at you.  Kelly let out a loud shriek and later told Melissa she’s going to share the video clip with her prankster son, Remington, adding, “He’s gonna love you so much.”

Paula Abdul is joining American Rescue Dog Show as a guest judge, with Leslie Jordan and Yvette Nicole Brown.  Variety reports the show asks rescue dogs to “strut their fluff” to raise money for local animal rescue centers.  The show begins airing May 25 at 8 p.m. on ABC.

A growing list of artists have banded together to publicly condemn the U.S. Supreme Court after a leaked opinion showed the justices are poised to overturn Roe v. Wade, the 1973 landmark opinion that declared abortion a constitutional right.

Among the 160 artists who signed the public petition are Paramore, Billie Eilish, Bishop BriggsClairo, GAYLE, FINNEAS, grandson, Lykke Li, Mitski, Phoebe Bridgers, The Regrettes, UPSAHL, Wallows and X Ambassadors.

The petition is part of Planned Parenthood’s #BansOffOurBodies campaign, which ran a Bans Off Our Bodies full-page spread in The New York Times Friday.  By signing, the artists hope to encourage their fans to also speak out in defense of abortion rights.

“The Supreme Court is planning to overturn Roe v. Wade, taking away the constitutional right to abortion,” the advertisement reads. “Our power to plan our own futures and control our own bodies depends on our ability to access sexual and reproductive health care, including abortion.”

The ad appears before a Saturday, May 14 Bans Off Our Bodies Day of Action, which will host rallies nationwide in defense of reproductive rights.

It’s been reported that, should the nation’s highest court strike down Roe v. Wade, about 26 states will ban or severely restrict abortions.

Young Thug’s attorneys have filed an emergency motion for a bond hearing or “more humane/non-torturous in-custody housing,” claiming the rapper is being held in “dungeon-like conditions.”

In the motion, obtained by ABC News, the attorneys say Young Thug – born Jeffrey Williams – is entitled to a bond hearing as a matter of law, citing that he is not a convicted felon, a flight risk or a danger to the community. The attorneys also state that Williams is innocent of the charges being brought against him.

The motion detailed the conditions Williams has allegedly been facing at Georgia’s Fulton County Jail, claiming he has been in solitary confinement and total isolation in a windowless cell. It says he has been given “no opportunity to exercise, shower or have human contact/interaction save his counsel, day after day.”

Williams was booked on multiple racketeering and gang-related charges Monday. He was indicted along with fellow rapper Gunna and over two dozen others.

Saturday will mark the first time both Selena Gomez and Post Malone joined Saturday Night Live as host and musical guest, respectively, which NBC highlighted in a series of promos Friday.

The first promo has actress Aidy Bryant raving that their group consisted of “two pop stars and two comedy actors.”  Selena, who stars in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, corrects, “I’m actually also an actor.”

Post, who is clutching a red solo cup, chimes in with, “And I’m not really a pop star.”  That leads to Bowen Yang declaring, “And I prefer drama!”

“Okay, well, I didn’t know you were also a bunch of divas,” Bryant huffs and calls everyone “rude.”

In the second promo, everyone insists Selena must be nervous about hosting SNL for the first time, but Selena keeps insisting she’s just “excited.”

“Well, you sure?  You sure you don’t got ants in your pants?” Bryant insists as Post encourages her to “check to see if you actually have ants in your pants.”

A suspicious Selena asks what’s up and learns that Yang and Bryant spilled jelly on her pants, left them on the street for three days and — as a final insult, Post “spilled my ant farm on your pants.”  They all say “sorry” in unison as Selena stares off in disbelief.

While this marks the “Lose You to Love Me” singer’s first time hosting, this isn’t her first time on SNL.  She served as musical guest in 2016.

Saturday Night Live airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

Sony Music Entertainment

This Saturday marks the 40th anniversary of the release of The Clash‘s fifth and most commercially successful studio album, Combat Rock.

Released on May 14, 1982, the album was the final Clash studio effort recorded by the lauded British punk band’s classic lineup of singer/guitarists Joe Strummer and Mick Jones, bassist Paul Simonon and drummer Topper Headon.

Combat Rock peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100, and featured the singles “Rock the Casbah” and “Should I Stay or Should I Go,” as well as such gems as “Know Your Rights” and “Straight to Hell.” “Rock the Casbah” became the group’s only top-10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching #8, while “Should I Stay or Should I Go” peaked at #45 on the chart.

The music for “Rock the Casbah” was notably written by Headon on piano. The song’s popularity was bolstered by a music video that went into heavy rotation on MTV.

The album also found the band experimenting with a number of musical styles. “Ghetto Defendant” features spoken-word vocals by famed beat poet Allen Ginsberg, while “Overpowered by Funk” includes rapping by New York City-based graffiti artist Futura 2000.

Combat Rock was co-produced by The Clash and famed rock producer Glyn Johns, and was certified double Platinum by the RIAA.

As previously reported, a special expanded Combat Rock reissue, titled Combat Rock/The People’s Hall, will be released on May 20 in honor of the album’s 40th anniversary.

The People’s Hall is a 12-track collection compiled by The Clash that includes unheard, rare and early versions of songs recorded at the same time as the Combat Rock sessions. You can pre-order Combat Rock/The People’s Hall now.

Here’s Combat Rock‘s full track list:

“Know Your Rights”
“Car Jamming”
“Should I Stay or Should I Go”

Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron missed the band’s show in Oakland Thursday after testing positive for COVID-19.

Frontman Eddie Vedder explained Cameron’s absence ahead of a performance of the song “Why Go,” proclaiming that the drummer is a “true artist and…a force of nature.”

Vedder then added, “However, even his superhero status could not prevent him from testing positive [for COVID-19].”

With Cameron sidelined, Pearl Jam recruited a pair of guest drummers to fill in for him: ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who joined PJ last year as a multi-instrumentalist touring member, and Richard Stuverud, who’s previously collaborated with bassist Jeff Ament.

For the night’s closing song, Vedder invited a fan named Josh Arroyo to play drums on “Yellow Ledbetter.”

A post-show photo of the set list revealed which drummer played on which song.

Pearl Jam’s tour is set to continue Friday with another show in Oakland.

Faith Hill had an eye-opening — and life-changing — experience playing Margaret Dutton on 1883, the hit Paramount+ prequel to Yellowstone.

The show famously put its actors in real-life experiences simulating the lifestyle of Western frontier families from the 19th century, and though the prep work was grueling, Faith says she’s glad she did it — and she wishes everyone else could, too.

“I wish every single person had the opportunity to live off the land,” Faith says in a new interview with Gold Derby. “There’s something about being outside and working outside and cooking and getting that connection to the earth. There’s nothing like it.”

Faith loved working on 1883 so much that she admits she went through “a couple of weeks of just complete depression” after saying goodbye to the character of Margaret.

In addition to giving her the chance to embrace a completely new kind of life, Faith’s experience with 1883 was special for another reason, too: It gave her a chance to co-star with her husband Tim McGraw, who plays James Dutton on the show.
