Nicki Minaj‘s husband has been ordered to “facilitate settlement discussions” with the woman who accused him of rape. Jennifer Hough sued Kenneth Petty in 2021 for infliction of emotional distress, harassment and witness intimidation. According to court documents obtained by AllHipHop, the judge is hoping the two parties can get on the same page.

AllHipHop reports Judge James R. Cho referred the case to mediation on Tuesday, giving parties a March deadline to complete the process. The case will go to trial if Hough and Petty are unable to reach a settlement.

As reported, Petty served more than four years in prison after he was convicted of raping Hough in 1995. The alleged rape victim claimed she was repeatedly pressured to recant her statements. She filed a lawsuit accusing the couple of alleged harassment and intimidation, initially noting that Nicki was involved; the charges against the rapper have since been dropped.

Petty still faces the charges against him. He was recently sentenced to three years of probation and one year of home confinement for his failure to register as a sex offender in connection to the rape.

Nicki’s husband is taking legal action over the sex offender status. He and Pough are scheduled to start opening arguments in the case on January 6, 2023.

While Bob Dylan‘s tours are Never Ending, catching a glimpse of the famed rocker offstage is something that rarely happens. You almost never see Dylan, for example, making a Starbucks run, leaving a restaurant or taking a smoke break. So how does he avoid getting photographed, when everyone in the world has a phone? It’s because, as his former guitarist explains, “he’s slippery.”

Billy Burnette, a guitarist, songwriter and solo artist who’s played with Fleetwood Mac and John Fogerty, was Dylan’s touring guitarist in 2003. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Burnette explains that Bob does go out, but he flies under the radar. During the tour, Burnette explains, “He went out and ran every day. I’d see him in his sweats in the hotel, but he’s slippery.”

“[T]hey lost him one day [in an airport],” Burnette adds. “They couldn’t find him anywhere. I’m in this little gift shop and I turn around, and there he is. He goes, ‘Hi Billy.’ I was like, ‘How did you get in here?’ He moves around. It’s a weird thing.”

When Rolling Stone points out that Dylan is sometimes seen wearing a hoodie with the hood up, Burnette explains, “When he wears the hood, you’re not supposed to talk to him. I didn’t know that until one day we were in line to get on a plane at the airport.”

“I tapped him on the shoulder,” he continues. “The drummer said, ‘No, no. He don’t talk to anyone when he’s got the hood on.’ I was like, ‘OK. I’m glad you told me.'”

H.E.R. says it’s a “dream come true” to play Belle in the upcoming live-action special Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration.

The award-winning singer, who is the first Black and Filipina woman to play Belle on screen, discussed how excited she was to take on the role and celebrate the “iconic” film.

“I never thought I could be a Disney princess,” she said Wednesday on Good Morning America. “Of course every little girl wants to be a Disney princess, but I’ve never seen one that looks like me — so I get to be that to little girls now.”

“And that’s such a huge deal on top of being a producer on Beauty and the Beast, which is crazy,” she continued. “I got to do a lot of the new arrangements and work with Alan Menken, the original arranger and producer. It’s been an amazing experience just learning so much about myself and it’s been a lot of fun, honestly.”

She added, “Being a Disney princess is fun!”

H.E.R. admits she was shocked she got the role.

“Immediately I was like, ‘I get to wear the yellow dress!'” she said. “I have to wear the yellow dress — that’s going to be the moment … but I was so excited. I got to unlock a new thing within myself and that’s why I say the timing is so great.”

“My inner Disney princess, which I think is this fearless and joyful and just strong and kind of brave thing within myself, I’m finding,” she added. “It’s been a crazy, wonderful experience.”

H.E.R. joins a star-studded cast including Shania TwainJosh GrobanMartin ShortJoshua HenryDavid Alan Grier and Rita Moreno for the television event, which will air on ABC December 15 and on Disney+ the next day.

(Note Language) If there’s one thing you can expect from Cardi B, it’s that she’ll keep it real with her fans. In a recent Instagram Live, the rapper did just that, explaining the wait for her sophomore album to her loyal BardiGang fanbase.

“I’m just a mom and I do have anxiety. I’ve been having a lot of anxiety, because I know right after I drop my album, I have to go out on tour and I have bad separation anxiety from my kids,” she explained.

Her dissatisfication with the music she’s recorded and her financial condition have also contributed to the delay.

“When it comes to music and everything, I just be feeling like I don’t be liking anything,” she continued. “I feel like I got so many songs and I don’t like anything. I feel like nothing is good enough … And I got so much money saved up I just be like, ‘Yeah, whatever the f***.’”

According to Cardi, “Making music to me has become like a job that gives me anxiety because everybody just critiques everything that I do.” However, she’s determined to “let that go.” “I have to release more music — I have to go out there,” she said.

Cardi’s debut and only album to date, Invasion of Privacy, came out four years ago.

Shania Twain received the Music Icon Award onstage at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards on Tuesday night, a recognition of her historic, four-decade-long career as the best-selling female country-pop artist of all time.

As she accepted her trophy, Shania reflected on her gratitude, her family and her fans.

“I always miss my mother at these moments [in] my life,” the singer said, according to People. “She would have loved watching her little girl living this moment right now.”

Shania’s mother, Sharon Morrison, died in a car accident along with the singer’s stepfather, Jerry Twain, in 1987. In the decades since, Shania’s career has risen to astronomic, genre-crossing heights. The singer also acknowledged those who have been with her throughout those big years in her career.

“But my fans, my friends, my team — you are the ones who really fill that space … not my mother’s space. But you’re here with me, you’re celebrating, we’re celebrating together,” she continued. “And you’ve made me feel loved and special my whole working life. I’ll always be grateful for that.”

In addition to be feted with the Music Icon Award, Shania performed a medley of hits at the People’s Choice Awards, including classics like “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” and “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” as well as her current single, “Waking Up Dreaming.”

Shania has a new album due out next year, called Queen of Me. She will tour extensively throughout 2023 to support the release.

Peter Frampton is the latest rock legend to sell his catalog — it’s been acquired by BMG.

The deal includes the rights to Frampton’s publishing interests, as well as the money he makes from recordings, writing songs or performing as a sideman or collaborator for artists like David Bowie, George Harrison, Donovan, Ringo Starr and Steve Miller. It spans his entire musical career, from back when he was in the band The Herd in the late ’60s, to his career with Humble Pie in the ’70s, to his record-breaking solo career.

The deal includes Frampton’s signature songs, including “Show Me The Way,” “Baby, I Love Your Way,” “Do You Feel Like We Do,” “I’m In You” and “I Can’t Stand It No More.”

In a statement, Frampton says he trusts BMG will “care for my legacy and that my songs are in good hands.”

In 2019, Frampton announced that he’d been diagnosed with inclusion body myositis, a degenerative muscular disease that he expects will eventually rob him of his ability to play guitar.

His most recent album, 2021’s Frampton Forgets The Words, is a collection of instrumental covers of some of his favorite songs, including tunes by Sly and the Family StoneRadioheadMarvin GayeRoxy MusicStevie Wonder, Harrison and Bowie.

Roddy Ricch faces copyright infringement lawsuit over “The Box”

Roddy Ricch is facing a lawsuit that claims his smash hit “The Box” steals elements from a 1975 song.

Rolling Stone reports Greg Perry, a California-based songwriter, filed an 18-page complaint Tuesday in which he alleged that “The Box” was released with “a complete duplication” of his song “Come on Down.”

“Expert musicology analysis confirms that the ascending minor scale played by violin at the opening of ‘Come On Down’ is a distinctive musical element which recurs a total of six times throughout the song,” reads the lawsuit obtained by Rolling Stone

It continues, “Comparative analysis of the beat, lyrics, hook, rhythmic structure, metrical placement, and narrative context by a musicology expert demonstrates clearly and convincingly that ‘The Box’ is an unauthorized duplication and infringement of certain elements of ‘Come On Down.’”

“Come on Down” also inspired hits from other hip-hop artists: “Wordplay” by Jeezy and Yo Gotti‘s “I Remember.”

“The use of the distinctive compositional elements of ‘Come On Down’ have remained so popular in both the R&B and rap community that access to the composition is firmly established,” Perry claims.

“The Box,” a single off Roddy’s debut album, Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial, dropped in 2019. It was nominated for three Grammys and peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
