Fans decode Taylor Swift’s riddle, revealing ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’ bonus tracks

Beth Garrabrant

Taylor Swift fans know all too well that she loves a good riddle. So it was no surprise that the singer chose a word scramble to clue her fans into what to expect from Red (Taylor’s Version), the re-recording of her 2012 album, Red. It’s also no surprise that Swifties cracked the code in no time.

On Thursday, Swift shared a short video teaser that showed several jumbled words emerging from a burgundy vault.

“*presses post* *cackles maniacally*,” the 31-year-old “willow” singer captioned the post. “Level: casually cruel in the name of being honest.”

What the scrambled letters revealed were 10 track titles and the names of the three artists — Ed Sheeran, Phoebe Bridgers and Chris Stapleton — who will be featured on the album.

Here are the bonus track titles that fans decoded:

“Ronan”
“Better Man”
“Nothing New,” featuring Phoebe Bridgers
“Babe”
“Message in a Bottle”
“I Bet You Think About Me,” featuring Chris Stapleton
“Forever Winter”
“Run,” featuring Ed Sheeran
“The Very First Night”
“All Too Well” 10-minute version

Red (Taylor’s Version) is out November 19.

The dawn is here! The Weeknd releases steamy new single “Take My Breath”

Christopher Polk/NBC/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images

The sun finally rose of a new music era for The Weeknd on Friday, when he dropped his brand new single “Take My Breath” as well as its psychedelic music video.

The Grammy winner celebrated his new release all day Thursday, teasing on billboards across the nation that “The dawn is coming…”  Well, at the stroke of midnight on Friday, the message changed to “the dawn is here!”

“Take My Breath” is a frisky departure from The Weeknd’s After Hours era, as the song explores how far he and his object of affection are willing to go behind closed doors.

“You tell me things you wanna try/ I know temptation is the devil in disguise/ You risk it all to feel alive, oh yeah/ You’re offering yourself to me like sacrifice,” his falsetto croons in the opening lyrics before delving into the impassioned chorus where he’s told to “Take my breath away/ And make it last forever, babe.”

As for the music video, it starts with The Weeknd walking away from the rising sun and into a dark nightclub that’s lit by a series of strobe lights.  Once inside, he catches the eye of a mysterious woman who gets him hooked on oxygen — the club’s drug of choice — which causes his surroundings to blur as he’s trapped in a state of euphoria.

That high comes crashing down when the mysterious woman wraps her long braids around his neck and chokes him, causing him to black out — he comes to on the dance floor, surrounded by sea of revelers dancing around him.

“Take My Breath” is the apparent first track off The Weeknd’s fifth studio album, of which he has yet to reveal a title and release date.

Tito notes that by having so many well-known musicians, actors and other stars featured in the clip, he feels that the song’s positive has a better chance of reaching more people.

“The message of…’Love One Another’…[is] very much needed today,” he maintains. “And that’s what I felt when that was being produced…tell the people something that’s gonna stick and they know it’s true and they can practice. So, we got to love one another.”

Under Your Spell also includes contributions from George Benson, The O’JaysEddie Levert and more. The album is available now on CD, vinyl LP, digital formats and via streaming services.

Charlene & Dusty Hill in 2011; Gary Miller/FilmMagic

The widow of ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill has penned a heartfelt message about the passing of her husband, including what happened during his final moments.  The band has shared it on their official website.

Charlene “Chuck” Hill begins the note, titled “My Sweet Dusty,” by saying, “After 19 wonderful years of marriage that ended too soon, I’ve decided to step out into Dusty’s spotlight to thank all of his fans, colleagues and friends for the overwhelming outpouring of love for The Dust.”

She continues, “He was the kindest, most gentle and caring man a woman could ever Hope to find in a lifetime. Many don’t believe in fairy tale marriages but Dusty and I truly lived one! We were inseparable.”

Charlene then notes that after Dusty was forced to leave ZZ Top’s trek because of his health issues, “[t]he plan was for another round of physical therapy, with a different approach, to help his chronic bursitis. The plan was he would return to the second leg of the tour in September.”

Describing Dusty’s passing early in the morning on July 28, Charlene notes, “He woke me up and we talked and as he was sweetly chatting with me he suddenly stopped and he was gone in an instant.”

She also points out that Hill greatly loved and appreciated all of his fans.

Charlene finishes her message by paraphrasing a quote from the TV series This Is Us, which she calls her “last love letter” to her husband: “The single most extraordinary thing I have ever done in my life is fall in love with you. The single most extraordinary gift I have ever received in my life was for you to ask me to marry you…I will be with you again. Love you to infinity and back.”
