Billy Idol was honored Friday with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He received the 2,743rd star, and the first of the year, in the category of Recording. His star is located on Hollywood Boulevard in front of Amoeba Records.

Henry Rollins was on hand to honor Idol, noting he “has rock n roll in his veins and punk rock in his DNA,” and adding, “That is to say, he is the real thing, and maybe that’s why we’re here today. Because decade after decade, he has remained himself, and it takes a lot of guts and a lot of integrity.”

“It really is crazy to find myself getting an award like this, or being honored in this way,” Idol shared during the ceremony. “I mean, 47 years of doing this after I started in Generation X, and 35 years after coming here, I just really could never have imagined anything like this.”

Idol said that punk rockers in the ’70s didn’t have “much hope or anything,” so with no future they were “going to do what we love,” adding, “I did the music because I loved it. It wasn’t for any other reason, really.”

“Anyway, I didn’t really think doing this would last very long. We thought maybe six months, maybe a year, maybe two years,” he said. “I could never have imagined something like this. It’s just incredible.”

The White Stripes‘ 2003 album Elephant turns 20 this year, and Jack White‘s Third Man Records is celebrating with a new vinyl edition of the record.

Elephant XX will feature a new mono remix of the original multitrack tapes from when the album was first recorded, which uncovers previously unheard studio banter and an extra four bars at the end of “Seven Nation Army.”

The two-LP package will also be accompanied by a 7-inch single featuring Jack’s solo demo version of the Elephant cut “Hypnotize” and a take-one performance of “You’ve Got Her In Your Pocket,” as well as a DVD collecting various live performances, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.

You’ll be able to get all that through the Third Man Vault subscription service. The deadline to sign up is January 31 at midnight CT.

For more info, visit ThirdManRecords.com.

Elephant will officially turn 20 in April. Along with the hit “Seven Nation Army,” which spawned perhaps the most famous guitar riff of the 21st century, the album includes the Stripes classics “The Hardest Button to Button,” “Black Math” and “Ball and Biscuit.”

Paris Hilton denies photoshopping Britney Spears into her Instagram pictures

Paris Hilton is many things, but she says a liar isn’t one of them. The heiress came under fire from critics who accused her of photoshopping Britney Spears into her Instagram pictures.

Paris recently celebrated celebrity agent Cade Hudson‘s birthday and shared a series of snaps of the two hanging out, but one photo in particular kick-started a photoshop conspiracy theory. While some pictures showed them hanging out with stars like Tiffany Haddish and Drew Barrymore, the third slideshow picture featured Paris and Hudson posing with Britney — and fans thought it seemed fishy.

It should be noted Hudson is Britney’s agent and is credited with helping her end her conservatorship. As for why fans are crying foul, they believe their smoothed-out faces and blurry outlines appear to be a bad photoshop job. It should also be noted half of Britney’s necklace is missing and her hand, which is resting on Hudson’s shoulders, appears distorted.

Eventually, Paris was fed up with the accusations flooding the comments and said in a statement, “To all of those asking. Some of these photos were taken on an iPhone so they ended up being blurry. So they used this app called Remini to make it look unblurry and sometimes the Ai distorts images.”

“Didn’t want to even dignify this with a response. But some of these conspiracy theories are absolutely ridiculous,” she closed.

Paris and Britney have been friends since the early aughts. The reality star was also invited to Britney’s wedding to Sam Asghari.

Britney has not commented on Paris’ post.

“It’s also a message of hope that ultimately love conquers all,” Lydon adds.

PiL’s most recent album is 2015’s What the World Needs Now…, and a new record is due out later this year.

Steve Perry drops Journey trademark lawsuit

Looks like Journey is no longer dealing with at least one court case. While Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain are still at odds, former frontman Steve Perry has decided to drop a lawsuit he filed over the band’s trademarks.

Perry filed his suit back in September, asking a court to stop Schon and Cain’s company, Freedom JN LLC, from using Journey song trademarks on merchandise, clothing and more. He argued the three of them agreed that any business decisions on the matter required unanimous consent from all of them and he hadn’t given his. He argued Cain and Schon committed “fraud on the trademark office” by applying to register the song names without informing the office of the true status of the ownership of the songs.

But based on a tweet by Schon, that legal battle is behind them. He shared the document showing Perry withdrew his lawsuit on Friday, and when asked if that’s indeed what happened he replied, “yes he did. Now we can talk as we were.”

Schon had previously blamed Cain for Perry filing the lawsuit, and in his tweet the guitarist noted, “So much for [Cain] trying to throw me under the bus as he claimed I was blatantly trying to rip off [Perry] while collecting the checks for the very diligent work my wife and I did to protect our Merch.”

Meanwhile, Schon and Cain are getting to hit the road for the band’s Freedom tour kicking off February 4 in Allentown, PA. When asked by a fan how they can share a stage together with all their fighting, he responded, “We’ve written great music. Gregg Rolie will be there also. Channel the great music. Honor it.”

Lizzo is sharing her thoughts on cancel culture.

On Sunday morning, the “Truth Hurts” singer, who is no stranger to voicing her opinion, took to Twitter to air out her grievances.

“This may be a random time to say this but it’s on my heart.. cancel culture is appropriation,” she tweeted. “There was real outrage from truly marginalized people and now it’s become trendy, misused and misdirected. I hope we can phase out of this & focus our outrage on the real problems.”

Lizzo didn’t go into any further detail about the matter, but she did mention another social media issue just days prior.

On Friday, the Grammy-award winner tweeted, “We need to talk about the epidemic of believing any and everything y’all see on social media.”

Nate Smith’s simply “telling the truth” with “Whiskey on You”

Not that long ago, Nate Smith was a worship leader whose hometown of Paradise, California, had been devastated by a fire.

Now he has his first top-five hit with “Whiskey on You,” which he recently found out has been certified Gold.

“I got really surprised at the Opry the other night when they surprised me with that plaque, and I did a little bunny hop in front of everybody in the world,” he laughs. “But I was excited. I was genuinely excited.”

The secret to the success of “Whiskey on You”? Nate suspects it’s simply authenticity.

“It came out of a breakup and I was a little mad when I wrote it, and was drinking Jack Daniels at the time and wrote the song,” he tells ABC Audio. “And it just seemed to connect with other people. You know, there’s something about just telling the truth out there.”

Nate’s self-titled, 20-song debut is set to arrive February 17, before he heads out on tour with Thomas Rhett in May.

The Offspring is taking on 2023 with a clear goal in mind.

The “Come Out and Play” rockers have shared a video from the recording studio, declaring, “#In2023IWill spend a lot more time right here.”

The Offspring released their latest album, Let the Bad Times Roll, in 2021, nearly a decade after its predecessor, Days Go By, dropped in 2012. With the group already back in the studio, hopefully a follow-up record to Bad Times won’t take as long.

In addition to spending more time recording, The Offspring will also be hitting the road in 2023. They’re playing the Arizona Innings Festival in February alongside Eddie Vedder, Green Day and Weezer, and have a European tour booked for the spring.

Last month while performing her residency show in Las Vegas, Adele spoke about her friendship with Lizzo, calling her “an amazing person” and saying she’d “like to give her all of my love.” Now, Lizzo is giving that praise right back to Adele, and even has an idea of how the two could collaborate.

The U.K. tabloid The Mirror quotes Lizzo as saying of Adele, “I look up to her a lot. She knows who she is and she honors that with every album. She gave us piano ballads that go to number one, which is so hard and rare. She’s the rarest gem of all time. We need her. I am grateful for her.”

According to Lizzo, Adele also is her go-to person for advice about navigating fame and, especially, social media commentary.

“When she first came out the culture was so different, and especially with social media,” Lizzo is quoted as saying. “Adele called me and was like, ‘Lizzo, how do you f***ing do it? Are you okay? Do you want to come over and drink some wine? Do you want to talk?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah.’”

While Adele doesn’t really do many collaborations, Lizzo says she’d be down to work with the “Easy On Me” singer — even though, as she explains, “We’ve never talked about that.”

“Y’know, what I’d do with Adele is play the flute,” Lizzo — an accomplished flutist who shows off her skills on the instrument at her live shows — is quoted as saying. “I’d play flute, [since] she is that kind of artist.”

Both Lizzo and Adele are both nominated for multiple awards at next month’s Grammys, so perhaps they can nail down some plans for a collab while they’re at the ceremony.
