Check out the cover art for Pop Smoke’s second posthumous album, ‘Faith’

Tracy Awino

Pop Smoke’s manager Steven Victor has shared the cover art and title for the late rapper’s second posthumous album, Faith.

On Monday, Victor shared the album’s trailer on Instagram, featuring video clips of Pop Smoke in the studio and performing in front of a massive audience.

“Today, I had a conversation with myself. I’m bout to drop the hottest tape in New York,” says Pop in the trailer’s voiceover. “It don’t get more New York than Pop Smoke.”

The artwork for Faith features a grainy photo of the 20-year-old rapper, who was shot and killed during a home invasion at a property he rented in Los Angeles, California, on February 19, 2020.

Pop Smoke, born Bashar Barakah Jackson, was a leading figure in Brooklyn’s drill music scene, with singles including “Dior” and “Welcome to the Party.” Pop’s posthumous debut LP, Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon, was released in July 2020 by his music mentor and executive producer, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. It debuted at #1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart and was followed by a deluxe version, which dropped on what would have been Pop’s 21st birthday, July 20th.

Faith arrives July 16.

Write My Fire: Doors guitarist Robby Krieger publishing memoir in October

Little, Brown and Company

Doors guitarist Robby Krieger will share his life story, including his adventures with his famous band, in an upcoming memoir tilted Set the Night on Fire: Living, Dying, and Playing Guitar with The Doors.

The book, which will be published on October 12, features the 75-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and songwriter opening up about his journey to becoming a member for one of the most influential U.S. bands to emerge during the the 1960s and beyond.

Set the Night on Fire offers a series of vignettes in which Krieger discusses such highlights as buying his first guitar, getting arrested for drugs as a teenager, writing songs with singer Jim Morrison in his parents’ living room, playing his first gigs with The Doors at empty bars and backyard parties, recording his bands classic albums, and eventually performing in front of massive adoring crowds.

The book also will feature anecdotes about Robby’s experiences and encounters with other famous musicians, unhinged fans and more.

In addition, Robby recounts some of the difficulties he endured during his life, including his struggle with drug addiction, battling cancer, and his twin brother’s mental health issues.

Catch a glimpse of Megadeth’s new bassist, who will be revealed “soon”

Mike Lewis Photography/Redferns

The identity of Megadeth‘s new bass player will be revealed “soon,” according to frontman Dave Mustaine.

In a new Cameo video for a fan, which was posted on Reddit, Mustaine shared the briefest of views of the mystery bassist, who can be seen lying on the floor of a recording studio, with a chair blocking his face and identity.

“We will be saying who that is soon,” Mustaine comments in the video.

“You actually saw him before anybody else,” he adds, referring to the Cameo recipient. “Even though you can’t really see him.”

The new bassist will be taking the place of founding member David Ellefson, who was dismissed from Megadeth in May after sexually explicit video of him interacting with a woman leaked online. Ellefson has characterized the video as “private, adult interactions,” and is pursing revenge porn charges against those that leaked the footage.

Following Ellefson’s firing, Mustaine said that the bass parts he had recorded for Megadeth’s new album would be replaced by someone new. Presumably the new bassist will also be playing with Megadeth on their upcoming Metal Tour of the Year alongside Lamb of God, Trivium and In Flames.

Garth Brooks is still riding high from the “out of body” experience of returning to the stage

Garth Brooks officially returned to the stage over the weekend, hitting Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium for the first post-pandemic stop on his Stadium Tour on Saturday.

And while he admits he was “nervous as hell” before the set began, Garth says he always had a sneaking suspicion that it was this show, on this date — July 10 — that would be the one to kick off his return to the road.

“When I saw the date — July 10 — that’s my mom’s birthday. And Mom — nothing was impossible,” he explains. “She was five foot tall, and nothing was impossible to her. So when I saw July 10, I said, ‘I betcha 10-to-1 this is the one. It’s gonna happen.’”

Once he got back onstage and got into the live show groove, Garth explains that the show kept building in momentum as he, his band and the audience were feeding off each other’s energy.

“It was one of those things where you were out of body! And the band and they were going back and forth,” the singer gushes. “It was great! And everybody won!”

Garth will keep the party going in the days ahead, as his Stadium Tour is scheduled to hit Salt Lake City for a sold-out stop this Saturday, July 17. At the end of the month, he’ll head to Nashville for a hometown show, which is also sold out.

Morgan Wallen celebrates his son’s rodeo-themed first birthday: “1 year of being a legend”

John Shearer/Getty Images for Ryman Auditorium

Morgan Wallen has been relatively quiet on social media ever since being benched by the industry, following the early February circulation of a doorbell cam video that shows him shouting a racist slur at the end of a night of partying.

But this week, the singer shared a happier piece of his life, posting a series of pictures from a birthday party for his one-year-old son, Indigo “Indie” Wilder.

The rodeo-themed birthday party included lots of adorable cowboy memorabilia, including red bandannas and a flag reading “My 1st Rodeo.” In one image, little Indie cries as his mom, KT Smith, wipes cake frosting off his face.

“1 year of being a legend,” Morgan wrote in the caption of his post. “Happy birthday, son.”

For her part, KT also posted a string of snaps from the party. According to one image, guests enjoyed sugar cookies decorated to look like cowboy hats, horseshoes and boots. Another images reveals a close-up look at the details of Indie’s custom cake.

Morgan announced Indie’s birth last July, taking fans by surprise by announcing that he was a dad. “Since you came into the world Friday, I see mine differently now,” Morgan told his son in the caption. “It’s not just me anymore, and I’m glad it’s not.”

Olivia Rodrigo photographed smooching new boyfriend

Stefan Kohli

Looks like Olivia Rodrigo is 100% over whoever it was that actually inspired “Drivers License.”

After they showed up together at the premiere of Space Jam: A New Legacy, Olivia has now pretty much confirmed that she’s dating film producer Adam Faze. Page Six has photos of them kissing and hugging each other over the weekend in LA.

The two were seen kissing while leaning against a car; Olivia also tenderly took Adam’s face in her hands before hugging him.

Sources told Page Six that Olivia has known Adam, who’s the co-founder of a production company called Must B Nice, for years, and the two were originally just friends.

According to Deadline, Adam used to host a podcast about TV and film called A Leg Up, and worked with well-known filmmakers before going into producing himself.  One of his projects is Loo, a short-form anthology series of stories set in bathrooms.
