Taking Back Sunday has shared a new song called “Amphetamine Smiles,” a track off their upcoming album, 152.

“You could document the writing, arranging, and recording of ‘Amphetamine Smiles,’ but there’s no way to explain how it came together,” says guitarist John Nolan. “It’s the product of some kind of magic.”

Earlier in September, Cher said her upcoming holiday album, Christmas, had “millions of people on it” — meaning she’d recorded a lot of duets. Now we know who those duets are with.

Describing the album, due out October 20, Cher tells Yahoo Entertainment, “I mean, there’s no ‘Silent Night’ and there’s no ‘Frosty the Snowman’ … it’s rock and roll, it’s disco, it’s everything. And I’ve got great people on it with me, and I’ve never had anybody on my record [before].”

Yahoo reports that those “great people” include Stevie WonderCyndi Lauper, Michael Bublé and Darlene Love, who has been called “the Queen of Christmas” thanks to her 1963 holiday favorite “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).” Fun fact: Cher actually sang backup on that record, since she and Darlene were both working with producer Phil Spector at the time.

Cher adds that she’s planning on coming out with a new flavor of her Cherlato ice cream to mark the release of the holiday album. Meanwhile, Cher fans have another release to look forward to: the Believe (25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) boxed set, coming on November 3.

“It’s hard to wrap my mind around that, that it’s that long ago,” Cher says of the 25th anniversary milestone. “And … I mean, I have to say ‘Believe’ is one of my favorite songs, just because … we invented the sound, and now everybody uses it constantly.”

Cher goes on to say that while recording “Believe,” she and producer Mark Taylor had a fight over how she was singing the song, so she walked out of the session. That’s when he brought in the Auto-Tune machine.

“I loved it,” she tells Yahoo, “because you couldn’t tell it was me in the beginning, which was fabulous.”

“Believe” hit #1 in March 1999.

In the midst of their ongoing divorce proceedings, the name of Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner‘s second daughter has been revealed.

The estranged couple, who share a 3-year-old daughter named Willa, chose the name Delphine for their now 1-year-old daughter, who was born in July 2022 and previously only identified as D., according to custody filings obtained by Page Six.

This comes after Sophie petitioned the court asking for the “immediate return” of their daughters to England last week, claiming Joe was holding the children’s passports hostage. They have since temporarily agreed to keep their kids in the Southern and Eastern districts of New York, which includes New York City, Long Island and the Hudson Valley, according to documents obtained by Good Morning America on Monday, September 25.

Joe, 34, and Sophie, 27, announced their split in a September 6 joint statement shared to social media that read, “After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”

The pair were married for four years.

Fantasy Records; Art: Gordon Douglas Ball

L.S. Dunes has shared a statement regarding the band’s upcoming video for their new song, “Old Wounds,” which was created using AI-generated images.

The statement, which comes after L.S. Dunes uploaded a 10-second preview of the video, begins, “L.S. Dunes and its collective members have been longtime supporters and advocates of artists of all kinds.”

“Over the years we have commissioned art pieces from well-known professional artists, unknown semi-professional artists, and fans of the band just starting out and creating things for fun,” the statement continues. “We have searched out these talented artists that inspire us from all walks of life and worked with them in a multitude of different ways showcasing their work on as large a platform as we could provide.”

With that in mind, L.S. Dunes came across @IAMMETHISISI, who’s described as a “generative art creator,” and felt that their work fit the message of “Old Wounds.”

“Old Wounds, at its core, is a song about intent, and what role it plays in the perception of good and evil,” L.S. Dunes says. “The conversation surrounding generative art draws a parallel to that in many ways.”

“We feel the video created by @IAMMETHISISI encompasses that perfectly, and based on the initial comments from just a 10 second clip, it seems to have hit this concept directly on the head,” the band adds. “Love it or hate it the choice is yours, as it should be.”

The “Old Wounds” video will premiere Friday, September 29.

L.S. Dunes consists of My Chemical Romance‘s Frank Iero, Coheed and Cambria‘s Travis Stever, Circa Survive vocalist Anthony Green, and bassist Tim Payne and drummer Tucker Rule of Thursday. The group released their debut album, Past Lives, in 2022.

“Somebody said, ‘Why in hell did you do so many songs?’ I said, ‘Well, I want them to last many lifetimes,'” shares Dolly.

“I just figured I’d never do another rock album and I just had so many favorite songs. I thought, ‘Well, I’m just going to do it.’ And so I did,” says the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member.

A different kind of buzz: Lorde’s ‘Pure Heroine’ turns 10

A different kind of buzz: Lorde’s ‘Pure Heroine’ turns 10
A different kind of buzz: Lorde’s ‘Pure Heroine’ turns 10
Universal Music NZ Ltd.

Lorde‘s debut album, Pure Heroine, is now 10 years old.

Originally released on September 27, 2013, Pure Heroine introduced the New Zealand-born teenage phenom to the world along with her unique blend of pop and alternative music.

The blend was heard on singles including “Team,” “Tennis Court,” “Glory and Gore” and of course, the mega-hit “Royals,” which hit #1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Alternative Airplay chart. “Royals” became the first single by a solo female artist to lead Alternative Airplay in over 17 years —  a gap that was longer than Lorde had even been alive.

Prior to Lorde, only six solo female artists had a #1 on Alternative Airplay. Since “Royals” led the chart, four more have joined that list: Billie Eilish, Meg Myers, Lana Del Rey and Elle King.

“Royals” would go on to be nominated for Record of the Year at the Grammys and win Song of the Year; it has been certified Diamond by the RIAA.

Lorde followed Pure Heroine and “Royals” with the song “Yellow Flicker Beat” for the The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 soundtrack, which she also curated. Her second album, Melodrama, dropped in 2017, followed by her third and most recent effort, Solar Power, in 2021.
