John Mellencamp is ready to give fans some insight into his song lyrics.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer is releasing the new lyric book John Mellencamp: The Songbook: 50 Years of Song and Poetry on Sept. 29.

According to the description, the book, featuring a foreword by Stephen King, has Mellencamp “opening his archives and tracing his evolution as both a songwriter and poet—spanning every era of his storied career.” It pairs the lyrics to his iconic songs with previously unseen personal photographs, handwritten drafts, notes and more.

John Mellencamp: The Songbook: 50 Years of Song and Poetry is available for preorder now. The rocker and his publisher, Rizzoli New York, plan to donate a portion of the proceeds from presales during the month of April to support Farm Aid. April preorders will also be entered into a raffle for a signed copy of the book.

Next up for Mellencamp, the rocker will launch his Dancing Words Tour — The Greatest Hits on July 10 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The tour will have him playing a set filled with biggest hits, as well as tracks he hasn’t performed live in nearly a decade, like “R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A. (A Salute To 60’s Rock),” “I Need a Lover,” “Wild Night” and “Ain’t Even Done With the Night.”

Hayley Williams’ concert in New York City Sunday featured a surprise appearance by Americana artist and former Drive-By Truckers member Jason Isbell.

The Paramore frontwoman invited Isbell onstage to perform a duet rendition of his 2013 song “Cover Me Up.”

Notably, “Cover Me Up” has also been covered by country superstar Morgan Wallen, who released his version in 2019. Williams later named Wallen as the “racist country singer” she sings about on her song “Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party,” the title track off her 2025 solo album.

Williams’ solo tour, which has featured a performance of Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party in full each night, continues Tuesday in Baltimore. It marks her first solo outing after her initially announced debut tour was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Justin Bieber’s Coachella performance made headlines, but if he had ended up dropping out, SZA wants you to know that she wouldn’t have stepped in.

SZA jumped into the comments of an Instagram post that claimed that she was “allegedly paid six figures to stay Coachella-ready in case Justin Bieber dropoff.”

“Lmao who made this up ? I’ve seen this 4 times now . I’m in New York no one paid me a dime . Wishing everyone the best,” the “Kill Bill” singer wrote.

In 2023, Justin teamed up with SZA for the “Snooze” video and remix.

Justin’s Coachella debut was heavy on songs from his albums SWAG and SWAG II, but it also featured him singing along to old YouTube clips of himself and random viral videos. Some critics branded the performance lazy, while others felt it was genius that he’d found a way to perform his old material while acknowledging that he’d gotten his start posting covers on YouTube.

On This Day, April 13, 1974 …

Paul McCartney and his band Wings hit #1 with their third studio album, Band on the Run.

The album included two hit singles, the title track and “Jet.” It went to #1 in the U.S. and the U.K. and remains McCartney’s most successful non-Beatles album.

The cover featured McCartney, his wife, Linda McCartney, and guitarist Denny Laine posing as escaped convicts alongside actors James Coburn and Christopher Lee, British boxer John Conteh, U.K. broadcasters Michael Parkinson and Clement Freud, and English entertainer Kenny Lynch.

McCartney celebrated the 50th anniversary of the album by reissuing it in February 2024.

A documentary about McCartney’s post-Beatles career, including the formation of Wings, debuted on Prime Video in February. He also looked back at his time in Wings in the book Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run, which came out in November.

Kane Brown and Katelyn Brown are adding to their collection of collabs, which started with 2022’s chart-topping “Thank God.”

In 2025, Kane’s The High Road record added “Body Talk” and “Do Us Apart.” Now, they have a fourth duet that’s found on Disney’s Main Street Country EP.

For this one, Katelyn was very much in the driver’s seat.

“I chose the song,” she reveals. “We didn’t really give Kane much of a say in it. One of my most favorite Disney songs, ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ is by far the … best one.”

“I just went along with whatever she said,” Kane agrees, adding, “Disney is magical.”

“We spend so much time at [the] Disney [parks],” Katelyn adds. “We take our family multiple times throughout the year. It’s our favorite place.”

While he may not have chosen the song, Kane’s happy to be reviving it for the 2020s.

“I’ve seen a lot of comments since we’ve posted this, but it’s cool that we get to reimagine this song for the new generation,” he says.

Beauty and the Beast hit theaters in 1991 and featured noted actress Angela Lansbury singing the theme song in the film, with Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson recreating it for pop radio.

Main Street Country is out now, with four more songs from the Disney catalog reimagined by Dasha, Maddie & Tae, Breland and Restless Road.

Disney is the parent company of ABC News and Walt Disney Records.

The Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde is giving fans an update on the band’s next album.

In a new letter posted on social media, Hynde tells fans that she’s been enjoying spring, but also keeping busy, revealing that she and Pretenders guitarist James Walbourne “have been meeting up daily and putting songs together for the next Pretenders album.”

“This is the fun part… well apart from recording and touring,” she writes.

In a previous post in March, Hynde said the album was “provisionally called Outlaw,” and that the band had planned to start recording it “in the next couple of months.”

Pretenders’ last tour wrapped in May 2025, and Hynde notes in the letter that she is “starting to miss” getting to play live.

“We are thinking of doing some shows next year,” she writes. “I miss seeing you regulars.. even though I may have unwittingly offended you by asking you to move a couple rows back so I could see the locals,” a reference to an October 2025 post in which she seemed to suggest she was sick of seeing the same fans in the front row time and time again.

“I hope you’ve gotten over it and forgiven me.. no offence was intended.. but when we travel for months on end, it’s necessary to keep things fresh by seeing new faces upfront.”

She then tells longtime fans, “you know I love you, and can always find you in the audience, and I’m always looking for you.”

So far there’s no word on when the new Pretenders album will be released. They released their last album, Relentless, in 2023.

GIVĒON announces ‘Beloved’ deluxe

GIVĒON is adding new music to his latest album, Beloved, expanding it to become Beloved: Act II.

He teased the announcement with a trailer in which a woman named Jezebel leaves him a series of voicemails.

“Hey Giv, it’s Jez. Just wanted to say I miss you. It feels quiet without you here. I even folded your laundry today, the way you like it, which feels kind of pointless when you’re not around to mess it up again. Anyway, I hope all the shows have been going well, and hey, save some for me, OK?” she begins.

In a second voicemail, Jez says she’s been having bad dreams about Giv, noting that her mother believes he’s “a keeper.” “I guess I’ll take her word for it,” she added.

In a third message, she mentions that her friends think Giv is “a dog” and reveals that she agrees. “Fool me once, I guess,” she says.

In the fourth call, she says she saw “an exact replica” of Giv and asks him to call her back, recalling how he used to check in during intermission. The clip ends with her hanging up, lighting a cigarette and walking up a staircase.

GIVĒON captioned the post, “sorry i missed you, jezebel. can i call you back tomorrow?”

In a follow-up post, he revealed that Beloved: Act II is set to arrive on May 15.

Beloved was released in July 2025; it was led by singles “Twenties” and “Rather Be.”
