Kehlani is the latest star to appear on Celebrity Substitute: She gives students at P.S. 33 in New York City a lesson on R&B, which she believes the youth should listen to. “It helps you express big feelings,” she said. “It taught me that I can be vulnerable and [in] a lot of cases, it teaches certain people that aren’t always offered the space to be vulnerable to be vulnerable.” The kids, who asked her about fame and her celebrity lifestyle, even joined her in making a throwback-themed video for her song “Out the Window.”

While at the Valentine’s Day edition of DJ Cassidy’s Pass the Mic! Live, performers Lil’ Kim and Mya came together onstage to perform “Lady Marmalade.” Their version of the song, which also featured Christina Aguilera and Pink, appeared on the soundtrack to the movie Moulin Rouge! and celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2026.

News Flash, Yung Miami has officially returned with new music. She surprise dropped a new single Wednesday, in which she raps about her humble beginnings, her rise to fame and her current lifestyle as a rapper. “News Flash,” she says, is one that finds her being unapologetically herself. “This one was very personal to me. I’m standing in my truth and not apologizing for it,” Yung Miami says in a statement. “I put my confidence, survival, and pain in that song. I’m standing my ground and showing that I’m here now.” She’s set to drop a new song, “Tea Time,” on Friday.

William Shatner will boldly go where many metalheads have gone before, albeit probably not many pushing 100.

The 94-year-old Star Trek legend is set to release a metal album, featuring his take on songs by iconic bands including Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden.

“Metal has always been a place where imagination gets loud,” Shatner says in a statement. “This album is a gathering of forces—each artist bringing their fire, their precision, their chaos. I chose them because they have something to say, and because metal demands honesty.”

“I’ve spent a lifetime exploring in both reality and fiction,” the Captain Kirk actor continues. “Now I am stepping out into the unknown once again with my new project in heavy metal. I am covering Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden as well as a number of new songs written by my team. The whole project is destined for this year. I hope you will join me in the exploration.”

The title and release date of the album has yet to be revealed. It will feature Black Label Society frontman and longtime Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde, who personally gifted Shatner a guitar, alongside a full list of guests to be announced.

After months of teases from guitarist Brian May, Queen has finally revealed details of the upcoming reissue of their sophomore album, Queen II.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band is set to celebrate the record with the release of a remixed, remastered and expanded five-CD + two-LP collector’s edition box set, dropping March 27.

The set includes a 2026 mix of the album, as well as a whole host of bonus material, including previously unheard outtakes and demos, live tracks, radio sessions and what’s described as “intimate fly-on-the-wall audio of Queen in the recording studio.” The set also features a 112-page book with previously unseen photos, handwritten lyrics, the band’s memories of writing and recording the album and more.

Queen II was the single biggest leap we ever made,” says May of the record, which was originally released in March 1974. “That’s when we really started making music the way we wanted to, rather than the way we were being pushed into recording it.”

“With Queen II, I couldn’t believe how much work we put into it,” drummer Roger Taylor adds. “I think we felt we were evolving our own sound. We were pioneering this sort of multitracking thing. It gave you a tremendous pallet, massive choral effects with just three of us singing.”

In addition to Queen II Collector’s Edition, the reissue will be released as a two-CD deluxe edition and on one-LP vinyl. All formats are available for preorder now.

On This Day, Feb. 19, 1985: Mick Jagger releases debut solo album

On The Feb. 19, 1985…

The Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger released his debut solo album, She’s The Boss.

The album was produced by Jagger, Nile Rodgers and others, and featured contributions from The Who’s Pete Townshend, guitarist Jeff Beck, Herbie Hancock and Sly and Robbie.

It later caused some friction between Jagger and Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, who felt Jagger’s priority should be the band.

She’s The Boss peaked at #12 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album’s lead single “Just Another Night,” which featured Beck on guitar, went on to peak at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached #1 on the Mainstream Rock charts. The follow-up single, “Lucky in Love,” was a top-40 hit.

Jagger went on to release three more solo albums, his last being 2001’s Goddess in the Doorway.

Preston Cooper currently has his first top-30 hit with his debut single, “Weak.”

It’s a big change for the 22-year-old, who came up with the melody while walking a 14-mile mail route as a postman in Fredricktown, Ohio.

“’Weak’ was a song that came very natural to us when we wrote this song,” he says. “I made it up before I came to Nashville, and it just felt right.”

“It just had this emotional blues feeling,” he continues, “and that’s what I grew up listening to was blues, like Stevie Ray Vaughan and [Chris] Stapleton, and I just felt natural. It just felt good. It was fun to sing. It’s one of my favorite songs to sing.”

“Weak” is from Preston’s debut album, Toledo Talkin’, which came out in August.

The Doors’ John Densmore and Robby Krieger recently teamed with Playing for Change, the multimedia project connecting the world through music, for a new version of The Doors’ classic “Riders on the Storm.” It features artists from eight countries, including Don Was, Lukas Nelson and Foo Fighters’ Rami Jaffee, and also incorporates the original vocals of late Doors frontman Jim Morrison — something one of the project’s creators feels was “clearly meant to be.”

“We filmed Robby and John, and they just played it like they’ve played it all their lives,” Playing for Change partner and producer Sebastian Robertson tells ABC Audio of the video.

“And as we were going and adding more people and traveling around the world, it started to get so exciting that The Doors management said, ‘Why don’t we give you Jim’s original vocal and see what happens?’ And, like the mystical ways of The Doors, it was the exact right tempo and it just fit in.”

“It was an honor. And it was breathtaking to hear [Jim’s vocals] isolated,” he says. “It just worked. It was clearly meant to be. And I think Jim and Robby and John are still in sync, and I think Jim approves.”

The video’s since racked up over 2 million views and raised thousands of dollars for the Playing for Change Foundation’s music program for indigenous artists in South Dakota. It was chosen due to John’s support of indigenous arts and rights, and Sebastian’s own Mohawk heritage via his late father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Robbie Robertson.

Sebastian says of the video’s success, “This is a very important song for a lot of people. And I think we treated it that way in the video.”

The next Playing for Change video, Sebastian teases, will “take place ‘on a dark desert highway.'”

JID says he was ‘overly honored’ to work with Jill Scott on ‘To Whom This May Concern’

To Whom This May Concern, JID is one of the features on Jill Scott’s newly released album. He appears on the song “To B Honest,” which he says was an honor — but a surprise opportunity.

“It was amazing working with her. I was overly honored. I was shocked that it was happening,” he told ABC Audio. “So many feelings wrapped up in working with somebody of that stature, her legacy and everything that she has contributed to music in itself. So I put my best foot forward.”

He says he “sent the song [back] like overly fast” because he was “not letting this moment pass.”

“It holds a special place in my heart, being able to work with Miss Jill Scott,” JID says. “I’m kind of still processing it.”

He adds that he and Jill are still in touch and have “even worked on more music.”

While JID guests on Jill’s To Whom This May Concern, fans noticed his absence on J. Cole’s The Fall-Off, an album he’s happy has finally been released.

“Me being a part of it is … that is neither here nor there because me and my dog work all the time,” JID says.

Of Cole and the album, he adds, “It’s like super amazing to see somebody with his trajectory. … Being around it is like super inspiring.”

JID released his last album, the Grammy-nominated God Does Like Ugly, in August. With the help of his son, he also recently reimagined the Frosted Flakes jingle “Hey Tony.”

“It’s not something that happens every day or to anybody. So I take it with honor,” he says of recreating the jingle. “I’m happy that I got a chance to do it.”

Don’t tell Noah Kahan that ‘Stick Season’ ‘changed your life’

Don’t tell Noah Kahan that ‘Stick Season’ ‘changed your life’
Don’t tell Noah Kahan that ‘Stick Season’ ‘changed your life’
Noah Kahan (Patrick McCormack)

Noah Kahan will release his new album, The Great Divide, in April, but he says that creating it — or, at least, starting to create it — was “the worst professional thing I’ve gone through.”

While Noah is aware that he shouldn’t complain about being creative or being a musician, he admitted during an appearance on Mythical Kitchen’s Last Meal that the pressure to follow up Stick Season left him in despair.

“I mean, as a creative person, getting asked, ‘What are you gonna do next?’ just creates a pit in your stomach, where you’re like, ‘Oh s***, like, I gotta follow this up,’” he tells host Josh Scherer.

“The pressure of having all the sold-out shows and the song on the radio and people being like, ‘This album changed my life.’ … I started to see them all as negatives,” he explains. “Because I was like, ‘It just means that when I disappoint you with my next thing, it’s gonna be that much harder for me to bear.'”

“So I started to hate when people told me they loved [the album], because it made me feel like, ‘That’s just another person whose face is gonna fall when they hear how bad my next thing is.'”

“It was the worst professional thing I’ve gone through, having to look at that blank piece of paper after four years and be like, ‘I gotta start,’” he shares. And when he finally did, he says, it was a struggle.

“It felt like someone had taken my power away,” he says. But eventually he was able to write The Great Divide, thanks to his wife, his mom and “all these people in my life that have been with me through these cycles I’ve gone on and helped me get through that s***.”
