Fifteen years ago today, the movie that catapulted Javier Bardem to the next level of stardom hit theaters. No Country For Old Men would win him an Oscar for best supporting actor, on its way to winning the big one, Best Picture.

But I thought, well, I don’t think nobody’s going to watch this because who’s going to care about me with this haircut, and this air gun, cattle gun, walking around killing people?”

There’s no word from ABC News’ parent company, Disney, or its subsidiary Lucasfilm, but Variety reports both companies have been meeting with writers to help get an Indiana Jones series off the ground for Disney+.

It’s not known whether the show will be a prequel series, as the Emmy-winning Young Indiana Jones Chronicles was in the early ’90s, or some kind of in-universe tie-in to 2023’s forthcoming fifth Indy adventure, the last starring Harrison Ford as the man in the hat.

Ford himself cameoed in an episode of ABC’s Young Indiana Jones series — specifically, “Young Indiana Jones and the Mystery of the Blues” in 1993. Each episode of the show was bookended with an elderly — and eyepatch-wearing — Indy, played by the late George Hall, looking back at his earlier adventures. Corey Carrier and Sean Patrick Flanery both played the younger Henry Jones Jr., whose adventures took him from the trenches of World War I to the streets of India and beyond.

The fifth Indiana Jones adventure hits theaters June 23, 2023 — just before Ford’s 81st birthday.

Many comic movie fans were relieved when it was announced that Guardians of the Galaxy franchise director James Gunn moved over to Warner Bros. Discovery to shape their superhero universe — and apparently Jason Momoa was one of them.

The star of Aquaman and its forthcoming 2023 sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, cameoed in character in the season finale of Gunn’s DC Comics-based Peacemaker. Although his sequel has wrapped, Momoa’s still psyched for what’s to come, he tells ET Canada.

Momoa hinted that Gunn and his Peacemaker partner Peter Safran taking the reins means “one of my dreams come true will be happening under their watch.”

It was revealed in the after-credits of Black Adam that Henry Cavill has officially returned to the role of Clark Kent/Superman, but it’s not yet known whether Momoa is talking about another Justice League-like team up.

For his part, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was reportedly instrumental in getting Cavill to return and has been pushing for a Black Adam vs. Superman movie ever since he started promoting his hit.

Momoa explained, “I think that with Peter Safran and Mr. Gunn at the helm now at DC, I’m very excited about that. There are a lot of cool things that will be coming up … So, stay tuned!”

(NOTE LANGUAGE) Shawn Levy, who helped make Stranger Things a global phenomenon, and who will be directing his Free Guy and The Adam Project star Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 3, could be heading to a galaxy far, far away.

The filmmaker retweeted a Deadline story saying he’s in talks to direct a Star Wars movie after he wraps the Deadpool threequel that will finally unite Reynolds’ trash-talking hero with Wolverine, the hero played by Reynolds’ pal Hugh Jackman.

It should be noted that most filmmakers in this situation remain mum — often times contractually so — but Levy’s enthusiasm got the better of him. “Childhood me is losing his s*** right now,” he tweeted. “Grown-up me is too.”

According to Deadline, the Night at the Museum vet will direct at least two episodes of Stranger Things‘ fifth and final season, the show for which he serves as an executive producer.

While Star Wars has lived on on the small screen, with Disney+ projects like Obi-Wan Kenobi, the well-received current show Andor and the just-started The Acolyte, there hasn’t been a Star Wars movie in theaters since 2019’s Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, which concluded the divisive sequel trilogy.

There are big screen projects at various levels of development, however, including one from Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, another from Lost veteran Damon Lindelof, and a rumored project from Thor sequel director and Levy’s Free Guy scene stealer Taika Waititi. That’s not including a Rogue Squadron project from Wonder Woman‘s Patty Jenkins, which was recently scrubbed from the release schedule.

Disney is the parent company of ABC News.

ABC/Paula Lobo

(NOTE LANGUAGE) Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson started his “beautiful Tuesday morning” off with a walk in Georgia and a heartfelt “thank you” to his fans.

“It seems I’m always thanking you guys for something,” the superstar laughed. “But it’s appropriate because I have a lot of s*** to be grateful for,” he said, noting fans made Black Adam the number-one movie in the world for three straight weeks, a feat that only three movies have done this year. “Man, that is hard to do…for one weekend — let alone three weekends.”

“Here’s the truth: A year ago, no one knew who Black Adam was…Now, today, you have made Black Adam a household name around the world. Noone knew what the Justice Society was a year ago,” Rock went on, mentioning the comics precursor to the Justice League seen in the hit.

The self-described “lucky son of a b****” teased some more “big announcements” in the near future: “passion projects” on both the big and small screens. “I only wanna do things that I’m so deeply passionate about…I run towards it,” he said.

“Thank you for the Black Adam love,” Rock concluded, smiling.

To date, Black Adam, which also stars Pierce Brosnan, Aldis Hodge, and Noah Centineo, has earned more than $300 million worldwide.

Good Morning America

Welcome to the renaissance of Lindsay Lohan.

After taking a break from acting, Lohan is returning to screens in the holiday film Falling for Christmas, which will be available for streaming Nov. 10 on Netflix.

“It’s a great movie,” the Mean Girls actress, 36, told Good Morning America on Tuesday. “I wanted to make this movie because I missed being on set and I really miss bringing characters to life, and this was just the perfect script full of love and family and romance and joy all in one.”

Lohan continued, “And it has a great message, which is that you don’t really need all of the material things in life. It’s good to just focus on the simple things, and I really love that.”

The logline of the film reads, “A newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress [Lohan] gets into a skiing accident, suffers from total amnesia and finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner [Glee alum Chord Overstreet] and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.”

Lohan said she “wanted to get to the point where I was craving being on set,” and doing so for Falling for Christmas felt “really refreshingly exciting.”

In addition to taking on new acting projects, Lohan has taken on a new role in her personal life: wife.

The “Parent Trap” actress announced her engagement to Bader Shammas in November 2021 and referred to him as “husband” in a heartfelt Instagram post in July.

As for how she’s enjoying married life, Lohan gushed, “It’s amazing. I’m really lucky. I found my partner and he’s an amazing man and we’re a great team.”

She continued, “He’s the best. I love him so much.”

See Brendan Fraser as you’ve never seen him before in the trailer to ‘The Whale’

Brendan Fraser is nearly unrecognizable in the new trailer to Darren Aronofsky‘s The Whale. Despite extensive prosthetics and a fat suit that turned The Mummy movie star into the morbidly obese, gay college professor he plays in the film, Fraser’s performance shines through, and many believe it will lead him to Oscar gold this year.

“Do you ever get the feeling people are incapable of caring?” Fraser’s Charlie says, tears in his eyes and an oxygen tube under his nose.

As he watches the world from his window and flashes back to memories of his estranged daughter when she was a child, his terminally ill character continues, “People are amazing.”

The trailer intercuts scenes from the Black Swan director’s film with glowing review blurbs on Fraser’s “utter triumph” on screen. The movie has already earned him a marathon-standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival and awards from the Toronto and Santa Barbara International Film Festivals.

Sadie Sink stars as Charlie’s now-adult daughter Ellie, with whom he’s trying to make amends. The film, which also stars Samantha Morton, Hong Chau, and Ty Simpkins, hits theaters December 9.

ABC Audio’s Wakanda Week: Chadwick Boseman, the man behind the mask

Marvel Studios

In anticipation of the November 11 release of the sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, ABC Audio is doing a deep dive into the lore of the Marvel favorite — and here, the man who played him, Chadwick Boseman.

The Oscar nominee died in 2020 at the age of 43, following a years-long, private battle with colon cancer.

After Boseman’s passing, some of his Marvel movie co-stars appeared on a special ABC tribute in his honor. Robert Downey Jr., who played Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, noted, “Always, always humble, always working, always a smile on his face. And then now, looking back, all the more I realized just what an incredibly graceful human being he was.”

Speaking to Whoopi Goldberg, his widow, Simone Ledward Boseman, recalled how his health took a turn for the worse during the pandemic — but it made it easier to hide his condition from the public.

“It was COVID when things were really starting to spiral. And that meant that everybody was in their house and there was no pressure for anybody to go outside.” She added, “It seemed like, ‘Is this a crazy coincidence that we get to actually be inside?’ We get to be here with family, with, you know, together. And everybody in the world is also experiencing this togetherness in the midst of this awful, scary, unpredictable time. We kept that circle real [small] — the circle was basically a dot.”

The interview, part of ABC’s recent Black Panther: In Search of Wakanda, also saw Simone talking about her grief in losing the actor. “Some days I’m doing worse than I’m really willing to acknowledge, and other days I’m doing better than I feel comfortable admitting,” she expressed.

Simone explained, “I can’t believe that I was so lucky. I can’t believe that I got to love this person. And I also got them to love me, too.”
