Shortly after Pauly Shore announced on Wednesday that he’d be playing Richard Simmons in an upcoming biopic, the now-reclusive fitness guru attempted to distance himself from the project.

“You may have heard they may be doing a movie about me with Pauly Shore. I have never given my permission for this movie. So don’t believe everything you read,” Simmons, 75, shared on Facebook, though Shore never specifically made such a claim.

“I no longer have a manager, and I no longer have a publicist. I just try to live a quiet life and be peaceful. Thank you for all your love and support, Simmons concluded.”

“While we would love to have him involved, we respect his desire to privacy and plan to produce a movie that honors him, celebrates him and tells a dramatic story,” The Wolper Organization, producers of the film said in a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. “We know he is deeply private and we would never want to invade that, how ever [sic] he is an amazing person, that changed millions of peoples [sic] lives and the effect he has had on the world needs to be recognized.”

Mark Wolper of the Wolper Organization said in an earlier statement that the goal of the biopic was “something heartfelt, with the tone of Little Miss Sunshine,” per the outlet.

The project was inspired a meme pointing out the striking resemblance between Shore and Simmons.

Shore can currently be seen as Simmons in the teaser to The Court Jester, a short that will run during February’s Sundance Film Festival, but is reportedly unrelated to the feature, according to the trade.

Back in May, Aquaman and Expendables franchise star Dolph Lundgren revealed he’d been fighting cancer since doctors successfully removed a malignant tumor in his kidney in 2015.

The 66-year-old Rocky IV star revealed to In Depth with Graham Bensinger that in 2020 new scans revealed new tumors, including one “the size of a small lemon” on his liver. At the time, his doctor gave him less than two to three years to live. “I thought it was it for sure,” he said.

Luckily, the star sought a second opinion, and a new doctor deployed a cutting-edge treatment that shrank his tumors by 90%.

To ABC Audio recently, the actor looked back at his battle, which he called his “real-life action movie.”

He continued, “You just gotta never lose hope. And just … every day is a new challenge, is a new fight, and you just keep pushing forward.”

He’s doing just that, about to debut an action movie he co-wrote, stars in and directed called Wanted Man. He also teamed up with Ryan Reynolds for projects on the latter’s Maximum Effort streaming channel.

And Lundgren is also keeping in great shape, explaining how his regimen has changed since his health battle.

“My view is anything is better than nothing, you know?” he says.

He adds, “I’ve started doing some Pilates because it’s … kind of easier in the body, but it’s quite good for your core. Good for your abs … I don’t do any hard sparring or don’t really hit the bag too much. I don’t do anything that can lead to injury.”

He continues, “What do they say? Uh, ‘Use it or lose it.’ You know, that’s kind of what I’m thinking.”

It looks as if Pauly Shore fans are getting what they’ve memed about — for the actor to portray fitness guru Richard Simmons in a dramatic biopic.

Back in September, Shore responded to fans who noticed that the now-55-year-old former Encino Man star resembles Simmons, now 75, who hasn’t been seen in public since 2014.

“I reached out to him,” Pauly explained at the time. “I heard he’s living deep in Big Bear [California]. We’ve been playing phone tag (yes, he still has a phone). I’m trying to make it happen for you guys.”

He also implored his followers, “In the meantime, hit up Hulu, Amazon, Disney, HBO and all the big producers. I definitely can morph into this guy,” adding, “I’ll see you at the Academy Awards 2025.”

As the feature film comes together, Shore can now be seen as Simmons in the teaser to The Court Jester, a short that will run during February’s Sundance Film Festival.

“What’s my first rule?” Shore asks as Simmons backstage during a talk show appearance. “Like yourself,” he answers.

“Your weight doesn’t matter. If you like yourself, you’re going to be fine. But I’ve been where you are right now,” he continues.

“And where I am right now, is I just love myself,” he says, as we see he’s talking to a heavyset guy who is working on the show. “And I think I can show you how to get here.”

The Hollywood Reporter says the short is unrelated to the feature film about Simmons in which Shore will star.

Jacob Elordi literally taking ‘SNL’ hosting gig step by step in new promo

NBC/Rosalind O’Connor

Jacob Elordi is apparently pretty nervous about his Saturday Night Live hosting debut Saturday, according to a new promo.

The spot sees the Saltburn star freezing as he psyches himself up to walk down the three steps that lead to where he’ll deliver his monologue inside Studio 8H.

“They all make it look so easy,” the actor laments to himself, as he has flashbacks of previous hosts, including a high-heeled Kim Kardashian and Zac Efron, who slid onto the stage in 2009.

SNL‘s Punkie Johnson and Marcello Hernandez are then shown spying as Elordi ponders his next move, with Punkie asking him, “Hey man, you good?”

What follows is a montage of the sketch show’s stars trying to get the actor to master the three-step entrance, to no avail.

He then tries it — and face-plants — as his would-be helpers make a quick getaway.

“I’m good,” Elordi mumbles into the stage.

If he manages the three steps, the Priscilla star will join singer and Mean Girls performer Reneé Rapp, the night’s musical guest, on the night of January 20 on NBC.

Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace reported health news regarding, respectively, Kate, the Princess of Wales, and her father-in-law, King Charles III, on Wednesday.

Kate is recovering after undergoing abdominal surgery, Kensington Palace confirmed, noting she was admitted to The London Clinic on Tuesday for a “planned” surgery.

The palace did not provide further details on the type of surgery Kate underwent, but confirmed to ABC News that her medical issue is noncancerous.

The surgery was successful, according to the palace, but Kate, the wife of Prince William and mom of their three young kids, is expected to remain hospitalized for 10 to 14 days before returning to the family’s home to recover.

Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace announced on the same day that King Charles will undergo a procedure next week to address an enlarged prostate.

“His Majesty’s condition is benign and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure,” the palace said in a statement Wednesday. “The King’s public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation.”

Charles, 75, had been scheduled to attend meetings and events at Dumfries House later this week, events that have since been postponed, according to the palace.

A day after Succession‘s six-Emmy winning night, Seth Meyers moderated a panel discussion, gathering the show’s stars and creators, who looked back at the hit show.

Monday night’s Emmy winners Kieran Culkin, Matthew Macfadyen, show creator Jesse Armstrong and director Mark Mylod joined castmates Brian Cox, Nicholas Braun, J. Smith Cameron and Alan Ruck at the event held on Paramount Pictures’ Los Angeles lot.

Cox brought the house down giving his version of when he was informed that his character, media mogul Logan Roy, would not live to see the finale.

He recalled a “fetching” phone call with Armstrong, in which he jokes he was “given the ultimate short shrift.”

Cox explained, allegedly quoting Armstrong, “‘Get the f*** off the set. … we’ve had enough of you, you’ve done enough damage to this whole f****** production. I’m killing you off and that’s it, OK?'”

Cox continued, “And I said, ‘Jesse, that is absolutely fine … I think it’s one of the best decisions you possibly made during this whole f****** production.'”

His comments drew laughs from the audience before Armstrong countered, “It was in the Ivy [in Los Angeles], it was over some nice food and it wasn’t so much rough talk. Brian is very charming and saw immediately the dramatic possibility.”

Cox then “set it straight,” explaining, “It was very clear and absolutely right what Jesse did. I completely agree and I thought that’s fine because I still get paid.”

“And that, at the end of the day, is the main thing, that one still gets paid,” he said to laughs.

“So there I am happy in my demise, and these f****** have to work their a** off,” Cox bellowed, cracking up the panel and the audience.

‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ wins Best Film in AARP’s Movies for Grownups

While Martin Scorsese‘s Killers of the Flower Moon has taken a backseat to Christopher Nolan‘s Oppenheimer for much of the awards season run-up to the Oscars — notwithstanding trophies won by Flower Moon‘s lead Lily Gladstone — the crime epic was just named Best Film by AARP The Magazine.

Flower Moon was declared the winner of AARP’s annual Movies for Grownups Awards; Nolan took Best Director for Oppenheimer.

Jodie Foster took home the Best Supporting Actress honor for her work in Nyad, opposite her Best Actress winning co-star Annette Bening.

Rustin‘s Colman Domingo was named Best Actor, and Robert De Niro won Best Supporting Actor for Flower Moon.

The Best Screenplay honor went to Barbie‘s Noah Baumbach and 40-year-old wife Greta Gerwig, who skated the usual rule that all Movies for Grownups nominees must be over 50, because Baumbach is 54.

Elsewhere, The Color Purple was named Best Ensemble, Golden Globe winner The Holdovers was named Best Intergenerational Film, and Bradley Cooper‘s Maestro was named Best Time Capsule.

Started in 2001, the Movies for Grownups have only correctly predicted the Best Picture Oscar winner four times, most recently with 2018’s Green Book.

Incidentally, the category of Best Reality Show wasn’t part of the magazine’s annual list until there was a reality series specifically set up for an audience of a certain age — and no surprise, The Golden Bachelor took that honor this year.

Elsewhere in TV, newly-minted two-time Emmy winner Jennifer Coolidge was named Best Actress for The White Lotus, Bryan Cranston earned Best Actor for Your Honor, and Succession was named Best TV Series.
