Shortly after the reboot received a trio of Emmy nominations in technical categories on Wednesday, Paramount+ announced the second season of the Frasier reboot will debut on Sept. 19.
The next season reportedly includes a “Seattle-themed episode,” a nod to the original NBC hit’s setting.
In the reboot, Kelsey Grammer‘s titular psychiatrist has moved back to his Cheers stomping grounds of Boston in an effort to start a new chapter of his life. However, that one particular episode will see Dr. Crane returning to his old radio station KACL, where he’ll be reunited with Dan Butler as Bob “Bulldog” Briscoe, Edward Hibbert as Gil Chesterton and Harriet Sansom Harris as Frasier’s agent, Bebe Glazer.
Also joining Grammer for the sophomore frame are season 1 regulars Jack Cutmore-Scott, Nicholas Lyndhurst, Toks Olagundoye, Jess Salgueiro and Anders Keith.
“Honey, that never gets old!” That was a dancing Sheryl Lee Ralph‘s live reaction on Wednesday to finding out she just received her third Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category for Abbott Elementary.
Ralph and fellow Emmy winner Tony Hale were presenting the nominees for the 76th annual event on Wednesday morning when they were joined by Television Academy chair Cris Abrego, who was “excited” to deliver the news of her threepeat.
Ralph pumped her fist and danced joyfully, exclaiming to Abrego, “Honey that never gets old! Never gets old! Thank you!”
Ralph’s previous win in that category, in 2022, led to her bringing the house down with an emotional acceptance speech in which she held up her trophy and belted out the opening lyrics to “Endangered Species” by Dianne Reeves, a five-time Grammy-winning jazz singer.
Backstage, she was asked about what led her to that moment, and she said in part, “I think of myself as an artist, as a woman, especially as a woman of color, I’m an endangered species. But I don’t sing any victim song. I’m a woman. I’m an artist. And I know where my voice belongs.”
She added, “There’s so many young actors, artists, even kids that think they know what they’re going to do in life. Find your voice and put it where it belongs.”
There was more reason to sing on Wednesday: Abbott Elementary snagged nine new nominations, including Sheryl’s, one for the show’s creator, Quinta Brunson, in the Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category and one for Outstanding Comedy Series.
The nominations for the 76th Emmy Awards were announced Wednesday morning, and FX’s Shōgun led the field with 25 nominations in the Drama category.
Another FX show, The Bear, set an Emmys record in the comedy category with 23.
Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building scored 21 nominations, including a first-time acting nom for Selena Gomez.
Previous winners Tony Hale and Sheryl Lee Ralph presented the nominations live from the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles, joined by Television Academy chair Cris Abrego, who informed Ralph she was also nominated — for a third time — in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category for her work in Abbott Elementary.
The 76th Emmy Awards will be broadcast live from the Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles on Sept. 15 on ABC. It will also stream the next day on Hulu.

A new teaser for Deadpool & Wolverine teases a multiverse full of Deadpool variants, including, as reported, the canine variety in Dogpool, but the new snippet also showcases the character’s female counterpart.
Fan have been speculating since the eye-blink glimpse of Lady Deadpool in the movie’s first trailer about who star and producer Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy cast as the character, whose blond locks are shown swinging as she model-walks into the frame.
Guesses have ranged from Reynolds’ real-life wife, Blake Lively, to their bestie Taylor Swift. “It’s 100% Taylor’s walk,” one Swiftie insisted.
The ad is set to Toni Basil‘s hit “Hey, Mickey,” a tweak of the mouse nose at the fact that the film is Deadpool’s — or, more accurately, Deadpools’, plural — first entry in the Disney-owned Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Elsewhere in the short snippet, Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine tweaks Reynolds’ Wade Wilson over his wig — or, as Wade insists, “hair system” — and Reynolds makes a joke about the popularity, and age, of his 55-year-old costar.
“Disney brought him back! They’re gonna make him do this until he’s 90!” he jokes.
Joe Manganiello is saying his piece in a new Men’s Journalfeature regarding the ending of his seven-year marriage to Sofia Vergara.
As reported in January of this year, Vergara told El País, “My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids, and I didn’t want to be an old mom.”
To Men’s Journal, Manganiello said, “There’s been a lot said in the press about me wanting a family. That’s simply not true.”
He revealed, “We did try to have a family for the first year and a half. And we had a huge conversation right out of the gate during the first month we dated. I said, ‘If you’re done with kids, then I understand. Just tell me, and I’ll know what this is, and that’s okay.'”
Vergara has a 32-year-old son, Manolo, from her first marriage.
“But that wasn’t the case with her,” Manganiello continued. “And I swore to her that I would never leave if it didn’t work out. And I didn’t.”
The True Blood veteran and Deal or No Deal Island host continued, “To be painted as if I had some sort of midlife crisis, and after nine years, turned to somebody and gave them an ultimatum of, ‘Do this potentially unhealthy thing to your body, or else I’m gone’? That’s never who I was.”
He explains instead, “two people grew apart, and sometimes that happens.”
The new Prime Video series Sausage Party: Foodtopia is about as raunchy as an animated series can be. It’s the sequel to the 2016 film, starring the voices of Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig and many more as food items who can talk.
But Rogen, who voices Frank and is also a co-creator of the series, tells ABC Audio it wasn’t the lewd jokes that got the most attention from his corporate bosses.
“They didn’t love all the food puns. Which is insane for a show, literally, we were like, the show is a food pun, quite literally,” he recalls. “And we would always get notes where they’re like, ‘Does it have to be this many food puns?’ And we were like, ‘Yes.'”
Of course, that’s not to say that Amazon didn’t have at least one note for Rogen and his partners.
“It’s a big plot point that, you know, food pilots humans through their a*******,” he shares. “So I think that was something — I think there was some notes where it’s like, ‘Do you guys have to make this such a big part of the show?’ Like, ‘Does this have to be like what the Force is to Star Wars?’ And we were like, ‘Yes. Yes it does.'”
Wiig, who reprises her role as Brenda Bunson, Frank’s love interest, tells ABC Audio that there’s something freeing about being able to play around with the raunchiness while doing animation, compared to if the show was live action.
“Usually with animation there are some guidelines or there are children watching. So yeah, recording is so fun because they kind of want you to just go all over,” she says. “And they push the envelope beyond being able to even reach the envelope anymore.”
The world premieres of Ben Stiller‘s Nutcrackers and Rebel Wilson‘s The Deb will bookend the Toronto Film Festival on Sept. 5 and Sept. 15, respectively, festival organizers have revealed. Nutcrackers “follows strait-laced and work-obsessed Mike — played by Stiller — as he is suddenly thrust into being a caregiver for his rambunctious, orphaned nephews,” according to TIFF. The Deb, Wilson’s directorial debut, is “an original musical comedy about two teenage cousins who dig deep to find self-acceptance and a date to the Debutante Ball in a small country town in Australia.”

Variety reports Colin Firth has joined the cast of Young Sherlock, the upcoming Prime Video series. Young Sherlock, per the streaming service, follows 19-year-old Sherlock Holmes — played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin — who is “disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed, when he finds himself caught up in a murder mystery at Oxford University which threatens his freedom. Diving into his first-ever case with a wild lack of discipline, Sherlock manages to unravel a globe-trotting conspiracy that will change his life forever.” Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone and Zine Tseng also star …
The nominations for the 76th annual Emmy Awards will be announced Wednesday morning by previous winners Tony Hale from Veep and Abbott Elementary‘s Sheryl Lee Ralph.
It’s still unknown which stars will get the nod from the pair at the live event from Los Angeles’ El Capitan Theatre, but a handful of shows are likely nominees.
However, there are some big openings. Last year’s big winner in the Drama category, HBO’s Succession, snagged six trophies, including Best Drama Series — but that was for the show’s final season.
Similarly, Beef, which took home five trophies for Netflix, was a limited series; a second season with a different cast is in development.
The FX series The Bear, on the other hand, is still eligible, after its six trophy wins in the Comedy category at the 75th Emmys, snagging Best Actor for Jeremy Allen White, Best Actress for Ayo Edebiri and Best Supporting Actor for Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
Other possible nominees in the Comedy category include previous Emmy winners like ABC’s Abbott Elementary and HBO’s Hacks.
Netflix surely hopes its buzzy stalker series Baby Reindeer takes Beef‘s place as a winner in the Limited Series category.
As for Drama, Netflix’s The Crown could be a major contender once again, though there’s a good chance critical darling FX’s Shōgun will also perform well.
The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held live from Los Angeles on Sept. 15, airing on ABC at 8 p.m. ET. A host has yet to be named.

ABC Audio has confirmed that Mandalorian Emmy nominee Giancarlo Esposito, Katie Holmes, Kumail Nanjiani and Gaby Hoffmann are all in for the second season of Peacock’s series Poker Face.
The Emmy-winning mystery-of-the-week series stars Natasha Lyonne as Charlie, blessed with the ability to determine if someone is lying to her. She hits the road in her Plymouth Barracuda “and with every stop encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can’t help but solve,” the streamer says.
The series was nominated for four Emmys in its inaugural season in 2023, including an Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series nom for Lyonne, and the first-ever win for Peacock thanks to Tony-winning co-star Judith Light taking home an Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series trophy.
The sequel to Universal’s Blumhouse blockbuster M3GAN is now underway, Deadline is reporting, with some new faces added to the cast for the follow-up to the killer robot hit.

Deadline is reporting Six Feet Under vet Timm Sharp, former Saturday Night Live player Aristotle Athari and Avatar: The Way of Water‘s Jemaine Clement are now co-starring in M3GAN 2.0, which as previously reported also added Star Wars: Ahsoka star Ivanna Sakhno to its cast.
M3GAN stars Brian Jordan Alvarez and Jen Van Epps are also rejoining Williams, McGraw and Jenna Davis for the sequel.
The original hit’s screenwriter, Akela Cooper, is returning for the 2025 follow-up, joined behind the keyboard by M3GAN director Gerard Johnstone, who is also helming the sequel.
