Weeks after her bestie Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, Leah Remini has announced she’s split with her husband of 21 years, Angelo Pagán.

The former King of Queens star and Pagán jointly posted to Instagram on Thursday, “After 28 years together and 21 years of marriage, we have decided to file for divorce.”

“This decision came after a lot of thought and care, and as hard as divorce is, we are approaching this with a positive outlook because we know it’s what’s best for us,” the statement continued.

The note goes on to say, “Yes, we’re sad, and we’ve got some figuring out to do as we continue to move forward into our new normal — together still in many ways, and apart in some new ones.”

It added, “But here’s the thing: we’ve been best friends for so many years. We are still celebrating holidays together, watching our favorite tv shows together, and gathering as a family.”

As to the reason behind the split, the statement explained, “To put it simply, we both changed, as people do, and we got used to playing roles that didn’t fit us anymore.” They added, “Our bond is still strong — it’s just evolved into something different.”

The pair share an “incredible daughter” in 20-year-old Sofia, noting, “From our perspective, this marriage was a huge success.”

The couple said they want to be “as transparent as possible” with their new direction, “because, for years, we shared our marriage so publicly, whether it was on our specials on VH1 or our reality show,” referencing Leah Remini: It’s All Relative.

They also said of their “new chapter” together, apart, “We hope our journey can inspire others to see that relationships — whether they change or end — aren’t failures.”

Carl Weathers was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week.

On Thursday, the actor, known for his role as boxer Apollo Creed in the Rocky films as well as his time as an NFL linebacker for the then-Oakland Raiders, was posthumously honored with his own Hollywood landmark.

Among those paying tribute were his family members, as well as dear friends in Hollywood and sports, including actress/director Bryce Dallas Howard, who worked with him on The Mandalorian — for which Weathers was nominated for an Emmy — and Star Trek actor LeVar Burton.

Carl Weathers’ sons Matthew and Jason Weathers, as well as his partner Christine Kludjian, also paid tribute to him in moving speeches.

“My father was an individual with dreams and aspirations,” Matthew Weathers said in his speech. “He knew what he wanted at a very young age. He told me on numerous occasions that if he had some money in his pocket as a young man, he’d go to the movies.”

“Not a lot of people have the opportunity to do what he did,” he added of his father’s illustrious career. “He was proud of what he created. So am I. It’s hard to imagine that he’s not here.”

Jason Weathers echoed his brother’s words, and said that he’s “so proud” of the actor-director.

“I wish he could be here to experience this,” he continued. “I know he was looking forward to this — over 50 years in Hollywood, in his career, and now to be immortalized with a star is just truly wonderful.”

Carl Weathers, who logged memorable performances in Predator, Toy Story, Arrested Development, and Happy Gilmore, died in February at age 76.

Weathers’ monument, in the category of Sports Entertainment, is the 2,787th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Pari Dukovic/FX

For Brian Jordan Alvarez, creator and star of FX’s latest comedy series, English Teacher, it all goes back to high school. Specifically, it can all be traced back to a certain English teacher who changed his life.

“I went to a very English-forward high school called St. Andrew’s-Sewanee in Tennessee for three years of my high school experience,” Alvarez told ABC Audio at the Disney Upfront event in May. “I had [a teacher] named Claire Reishman in high school, and she really taught me to write in a really meaningful way. I always think back on that.”

In the new sitcom Alvarez plays Evan, a teacher at the center of many different competing energies.

“The parents, the students, the administration. Everybody wants something different,” Alvarez said. “Everybody has a different definition of what’s right.”

Alvarez said he owes “it all to my high school English teacher.”

“Now I’m out here playing a high school English teacher,” Alvarez said. “I always think when I’m writing, I go, ‘Maybe that’s where I learned how to write,’ because I didn’t formally study screenwriting or anything.”

While Alvarez couldn’t disclose if his viral character TJ Mack will make an appearance on English Teacher, he did tease it happening in the future. “We can only hope. Well, maybe the energy of TJ Mack will infuse English Teacher. Maybe we can get a TJ Mack cameo in season 2, season 3,” Alvarez said.

And he couldn’t let the interview go without sneaking in a Lady Gaga reference.

“There could be a hundred people in a room and all of them would be watching English Teacher,” Alvarez said.

English Teacher premieres Sept. 2, on FX. You can also stream it on Hulu and Disney+.

Oscar winner Angelina Jolie may be on track for a second, if the reaction from the crowd at Thursday’s Venice Film Festival to her premiere of Maria is any indication.

According to Variety, the crowd got on its feet and cheered for eight full minutes when the credits rolled on the film from Pablo Larraín; the biographical drama has Jolie playing legendary opera singer Maria Callas.

The trade reports Jolie wiped away tears and hugged the filmmakers at the Sala Grande Theatre, comparing her reaction to that of Brendan Fraser at the festival ahead of his 2023 Oscar win for the film he premiered there, The Whale.

Incidentally, Larraín directed Kristen Stewart in another biographical drama, the Princess Diana film Spencer, and she earned a Best Actress nomination for it in 2022.

Emmy and Golden Globe winner Jolie also won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for 1999’s drama Girl, Interrupted.

Universal Pictures has just dropped a tease of the seventh Jurassic film, the first to star Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali.

Jurassic World: Rebirth was directed by Star Wars: Rogue One‘s Gareth Edwards and takes place five years after the last franchise entry, 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion. That film concluded a spin-off trilogy that made more than $3 billion.

David Koepp, who wrote the 1993 original Jurassic Park, is back behind the keyboard.

Universal Pictures teases, “Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived.”

However, “The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.”

Marvel movie vet Johansson plays “covert operations expert Zora Bennett, contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure [the] genetic material,” while Ali plays her trusted team leader, Duncan Kincaid.

The studio adds, “When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on an island where they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades.”

Also starring is Bridgerton‘s Jonathan Bailey as paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis; Homeland vet Rupert Friend plays “Big Pharma representative Martin Krebs”; and The Lincoln Lawyer‘s Manuel Garcia-Rulfo plays Reuben Delgado, the father of the shipwrecked civilian family.

The cast also includes Ed Skrein and David Iacono.

Jurassic World: Rebirth stomps into theaters next summer.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Timothée Chalamet are teaming up in a new movie, ABC Audio has learned.

Paltrow is joining forces with the Dune star in A24’s forthcoming Marty Supreme, which will be directed by Josh Safdie.

Chalamet is also co-producing the project from the studio behind The Whale and Everything Everywhere All at Once

While Variety initially reported Chalamet will be playing Marty Reisman, a former ping-pong-playing hustler who became a world champion and pop culture star, A24 specified the project “is not a biopic of Marty Reisman,” calling it a “fictionalized original work.”

Marty Supreme was written by Safdie and frequent collaborator Ronald Bronstein.

The film will mark Paltrow’s return to the big screen for the first time since the 2019 blockbuster Avengers: Endgame.

Paramount+ releases teaser to ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ prequel film ‘Apartment 7A’
Paramount+/Gareth Gatrell

Paramount+ just dropped a very creepy trailer to Apartment 7A, the prequel to the Academy Award-winning 1968 horror film Rosemary’s Baby.

Julia Garner and Dianne Wiest star in the series, along with Jim Sturgess and Kevin McNally.

The streaming service teases, “Set in 1965 New York City, the film tells the story prior to the legendary horror classic exploring what happened in the infamous Bramford building before Rosemary moved in.”

Garner plays an ambitious young dancer named Terry whose career is cut short by an injury and who finds patrons in a wealthy New York City couple, played by Wiest and McNally.

“Terry, you don’t even know these people,” a friend warns.

After they put Terry up in an apartment, she meets their neighbor, a famous Broadway producer (Sturgess), who offers her another chance at stardom.

“However, after an evening she can’t fully remember, disturbing circumstances soon have her second-guessing the sacrifices she’s willing to make for her career as she realizes that something evil is living not only in Apartment 7A, but in the Bramford itself,” the streaming service teases.

In the trailer, Terry finds she wasn’t the first starlet the couple took in. “I think something happened to the girl who lived here before me,” she tells a nun. “They did ungodly things to her, and now they’ve chosen you,” the woman of the cloth warns.

Later in the trailer, Terry has a disturbing vision of herself pregnant, with a demonic face visible under the skin of her belly.

“Baby’s here to stay,” Wiest later taunts her. “It’s the role you were born to play.”

Apartment 7A debuts Sept. 27 on Paramount+.
