The lawyer for one of the two doctors charged in connection with Matthew Perry‘s ketamine death said his client feels “incredibly remorseful” for the role the medical professional played in the actor’s death as he appeared in court Friday.

Dr. Mark Chavez has agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine and has signed a plea agreement, according to federal prosecutors. He appeared in Los Angeles federal court Friday afternoon for his arraignment in the case. Chavez answered the judge’s questions, saying he understood the case against him.

“He is trying to do everything in his power to right the wrong that happened here,” Matthew Binninger, Chavez’s attorney, told reporters following the arraignment. “He is doing everything in his power to cooperate, to help in this situation, and he’s incredibly remorseful.”

Binninger told reporters before the court appearance Friday that Chavez fully accepts responsibility for his role in the death of Perry.

Chavez also agreed, as part of the deal, to immediately give up his medical license. He formally pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on Friday, though a change of plea proceeding will be scheduled for a later date, at which point he will plead guilty, according to Binninger. The lawyer said he expects the hearing to occur sometime in October.

Chavez faces up to 10 years in prison, prosecutors said. Chavez is one of five people facing federal charges in the wake of Perry’s death from a ketamine overdose at his home on Oct. 28, 2024, at the age of 54.

Tom Hanks is once again issuing a warning to his followers to be vigilant online against artificial intelligence.

The actor shared a “public service announcement” post to Instagram on Thursday, addressing AI-generated ads using him to promote medical products he does not endorse.

“There are multiple ads over the internet falsely using my name, likeness, and voice promoting miracle cures and wonder drugs,” Hanks wrote. “These ads have been created without my consent, fraudulently and through AI.”

“I have nothing to do with these posts or the products and treatments, or the spokespeople touting these cures,” he continued. “I have type 2 diabetes, and I ONLY work with my board certified doctor regarding my treatment.”

Hanks ended the post with a firm message of caution to his followers, saying, “DO NOT BE FOOLED. DO NOT BE SWINDLED. DO NOT LOSE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.”

A representative for Hanks told Good Morning America the actor had no additional comment on the matter.

This isn’t the first time the Toy Story actor has spoken out against AI-generated ads using his likeness to promote products.

In October 2023, he warned his followers about an ad for a dental plan using an aged-down version of him, saying, “I have nothing to do with it.”

Winona Ryder opens up about harassment in Hollywood and her history with Harvey Weinstein

What was acceptable in Hollywood before and after the #MeToo movement is very different, and someone who has been there through it all, Winona Ryder, is sounding off.

To Esquire, the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star opened up about the old days of Hollywood in the ’80s and ’90s — and yes, some of her stories include disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

Ryder didn’t provide the names of “a couple of people” in Hollywood “who were just blatantly sexually harassing me” when she was in her late 20s.

“It wasn’t an assault. But it was incredibly inappropriate. It was wild,” she said.

“I was lucky because I was known, so it didn’t happen as much as maybe it would if I had been a struggling actor. But I remember this feeling in your mind: You’re negotiating … You’re working it out while this person is being extremely creepy.”

It “soured” her on Hollywood, she said.

Regarding Weinstein, she believes a couple of awkward meetings with him got her blacklisted from potential projects.

“The one time I was supposed to have a meeting with [him], I went to the Miramax office and I extended my hand and he shook my hand and … we had a conversation and I left,” she recalls.

“And [afterward] I got like screamed at [by an agent]. ‘What the f*** did you do?’ Apparently, I offended him because I extended my hand?”

On another occasion, she says she unintentionally rebuffed his offer to star in an adaptation of the play Little Voice by recommending instead the “amazing” actress who had played the role onstage, Jane Horrocks. “And he got very weird and he left.”

For the record, the former producer, currently in jail on sex charges, denied the exchanges to Entertainment Weekly through his attorney, offering “only good thoughts and kind wishes for happiness and success for her.”

The trade reports the film centers on three friends who take the titular trip — but when Jane, Coco and Sophie’s “trainwreck friend” Mel crashes the party, “the relaxation quickly descends into chaos with hilarious consequences.”

Nikki Garcia, the wife of Dancing with the Stars pro Artem Chigvintsev, is asking for privacy following his arrest for domestic violence.

“This is a private matter, and Nikki asks for privacy for her and her family at this time,” a rep for Garcia said in a statement Friday to Good Morning America.

Artem was arrested for felony domestic violence on Thursday just before 10 a.m., according to Napa County, California, jail records.

The 42-year-old, who was released on $25,000 bail, was booked on California penal code 273.5(a), which makes it illegal to injure a spouse, cohabitant or fellow parent in an act of domestic violence.

The Napa County Sheriff’s Department shared Artem’s mugshot on Thursday afternoon and told ABC News that they received a call around 10 a.m. for domestic violence in Yountville.

Napa County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrived within minutes and arrested Artem. They said that he did not resist arrest and was booked at the Napa County Jail on suspicion of domestic violence.

After making bail, he was released around 2:15 p.m. PT. Sheriff’s deputies said he was cooperative in the process.

The Sheriff’s Department has not shared details on who the alleged victim is, but told ABC News that they are giving the person “adequate time to deal with what unfolded before making the person talk more to detectives.”

They added that the alleged victim has been forthcoming with initial information to deputies.

The Russian-born dancer has competed on 12 seasons of DWTS to date.

Chigvintsev and Garcia competed together on season 25 of Dancing with the Stars and married in August 2022. They share a child, 4-year-old son Matteo.

Emma Roberts is throwing her hat in the ring to play the princess of pop.

Britney Spears‘ former assistant Felicia Culotta recently suggested Roberts play Spears in the upcoming movie adaptation of her bestselling memoir, The Woman In Me, and the actress says the role would be a dream come true.

“I was like, I love her assistant,” Roberts told Cosmo. “I mean, it’s my true dream to play Britney Spears. It’s a rumor, but I hope maybe it’ll come true. I mean, I remember I locked myself in my room and listened to In the Zone and said, ‘I cannot leave this room until I memorize every word.’”

Roberts shared even more of her fandom, saying she is always playing Spears’ music.

“I mean, I sing Britney to my son in the bath all the time. I’m always like, ‘God, he must think I’m so weird.’ That’s some millennial parenting,” Roberts said.

In the TMZ interview where Culotta originally suggested Roberts for the part, she said both women understand child stardom, with Roberts appearing on the Nickelodeon show Unfabulous and Spears on Disney Channel’s The All-New Mickey Mouse Club. She also suggested Timothée Chalamet as someone who could take on the role of Spears’ ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake.

Sneak peek of ‘Yellowstone”s new season teases “legacy”
Paramount Network

Paramount Network just dropped a teaser for the “epic return” of its smash hit Yellowstone

“Legacy,” Kevin Costner‘s John Dutton says in the opening to the short clip from the second part of season 5. “We build something worth having, someone’s gonna try and take it.”

In another moment, Luke Grimes‘ Kayce Dutton appears to be packing his things, telling his wife, Monica (Kelsey Asbille), “What I’m doin’ isn’t for the ranch. It’s for us.”

There’s also the promise of more fireworks between Kelly Reilly‘s Beth Dutton and Jamie, her enemy and adoptive brother, played by Wes Bentley

“You destroy me, you destroy yourself,” he says.

It then cuts to a shot of her smacking him across the face.

On a cellphone call, she icily replies to his threat: “Unlike you, I keep my promises.”

The first half of season 5 ended with Jamie orchestrating impeachment proceedings against his adopted dad, who had become the governor of Montana in the course of the show.

Of course, it’s not known exactly how things with John Dutton will play out after Costner vowed back in June that he wasn’t returning to the show.

Yellowstone returns Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on Paramount Network.
