A spokesperson for Brad Pitt has given a statement regarding the French woman who was scammed out of her life savings while believing she was in a relationship with the actor.

The French woman, named Anne, revealed she was scammed out of $850,000 after she believed she was in a long-distance relationship with the Hollywood actor. The story was first reported on the TF1 show Sept à huit on Sunday, according to Men’s Journal.

“It’s awful that scammers take advantage of fans’ strong connection with celebrities, but this is an important reminder to not respond to unsolicited online outreach, especially from actors who have no social media presence,” the spokesperson for Pitt told ABC Audio.

Anne, who was married to a wealthy man at the time, first began communicating with the scammer while on vacation with her children in the French Alps. She downloaded Instagram and shared photos from her trip. The scammer originally pretended to be Pitt’s mother, Jane Pitt. They found her Instagram profile and told Anne “that her son needed someone like me,” she said on the TF1 show. Their communication lasted over a year.

“At first I said to myself that it was fake, that it’s ridiculous,” Anne said. “But I’m not used to social media and I didn’t really understand what was happening to me.”

As time went on, Anne received AI-generated photos and audio messages from the scammers, now pretending to be the actor. They claimed Pitt needed $1 million for a kidney transplant and was unable to access his bank accounts due to his divorce from Angelina Jolie, coercing Anne into sending them the money.

“I ask myself why they chose me to do such harm like this?” Anne said. “I’ve never harmed anyone. These people deserve hell.”

Anne ultimately left her husband before she realized she had been conned when she saw reports about Pitt’s real-life girlfriend, Ines de Ramon.

Jessica Alba announced Thursday that she and husband Cash Warren are splitting after 16 years of marriage.

The actress and The Honest Company co-founder shared a statement about their split to Instagram.

“I’ve been on a journey of self realization and transformation for years-both as an individual and in partnership with Cash,” she began. “I’m proud of how we’ve grown as a couple and in our marriage over the last 20 years and it’s now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.”

Her statement continued, “We are moving forward with love and kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family. Our children remain our highest priority and we request privacy at this time.”

Alba and Warren married in May 2008 and share three children — daughters Honor, 16, and Haven, 13, as well as son Hayes, 7.

The couple celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary last May.

In a post shared to her Instagram at the time, Alba wrote, “16 years of marriage, 20 years together and forever to go… Happy Anniversary @cash_warren.”

“I’m proud of us for making it this far,” she continued at the time. “There is no real set of rules or guidance that can ever prepare you for what it means to commit to another person and choose to be family. Through thick and thin we have continually found our way back to each other and have chosen one another. Cheers to us, I love you.”

David Lynch, the Oscar-nominated director of films including Eraserhead, Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive, and co-creator of the cult drama series Twin Peaks, has died. He was 78.

“It is with deep regret that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and the artist, David Lynch,” a statement on his official Facebook account said. “We would appreciate some privacy at this time. There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us. But, as he would say, ‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.'”

The statement added, “It’s a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way.”

The filmmaker revealed in August 2024 that he had developed emphysema after years of smoking. “I’m homebound whether I like it or not,” Lynch told Sight and Sound magazine. “I can’t go out. And I can only walk a short distance before I’m out of oxygen.”

Lynch added in a social media post at the time that he was “in excellent shape” otherwise, declaring, “I am filled with happiness, and I will never retire.”

An acclaimed film director and screenwriter, visual artist, musician and composer known for his surreal, sometimes macabre, works, Lynch was nominated for four Academy Awards over his more than six-decade career, though he only directed 10 feature films between his 1977 debut, Eraserhead, and his most recent film, 2006’s Inland Empire. So singular was his artistic vision, however, that in 2019 Lynch received an honorary Academy Award in recognition of his body of work and contribution to cinema.

He also received eight Primetime Emmy Award nominations for his 1990s TV series Twin Peaks, which introduced the broader public to his eclectic style that often juxtaposed fantastical or dreamlike elements with mundane environments – a signature aesthetic that came to be described as “Lynchian.”

Goodbye, You.

Netflix has released the teaser trailer and release date for season 5 of its thriller series, You. The show, which stars Penn Badgley as the hopeless romantic killer Joe Goldberg, returns for its final season on April 24.

Joe’s journey to finding The One has taken him all over the world, from New York City to LA, San Francisco and London, but he’s back in the Big Apple for the final 10 episodes of the popular show.

“Hello, you. Do you remember me? ‘Cause I remember you. Here we are together again, back to where it began. A lot has happened these many years together. Identities, cities, loves. Complications,” Badgley’s Joe says via his signature voice-over narration in the trailer. “But all that led me here to now, to where I was always meant to be. And the one constant, the one thing that has always been there for me, is you.”

Charlotte Richie also returns in season 5 as Joe’s partner, Kate. The pair move to New York together, where we’re introduced to several new characters, including free-spirited playwright Bronte, played by Madeline Brewer, Joe’s brother-in-law Teddy, played by Griffin Matthews, and Joe’s twin sisters-in-law Raegan and Maddie, both portrayed by Anna Camp.

Natasha Behnam, Pete Ploszek, Tom Francis and Nava Mau also star in the fifth and final season of the Netflix show.

Starz

Fans will get a double dose of Sam Heughan Friday night. Right after Outlander’s season 7 finale airs on Starz, Heughan’s new show, The Couple Next Doordebuts its first episode on the channel.

Heughan stars as Danny, a husband with secrets, in the steamy relationship drama about two married couples who become entangled in each others’ suburban lives. While many fans would argue Heughan’s Outlander character Jamie Fraser is the perfect man, the Scottish actor tells ABC Audio it was refreshing to play a man with flaws in The Couple Next Door.

“I think it’s actually somehow more interesting,” he says. “Jamie Fraser always knows what to do in most situations. And that’s a great character to play. But it’s really interesting to play someone who’s maybe more morally ambiguous and makes bad decisions. Perhaps too many of them.”

Danny and his wife, Becka, played by Jessica De Gouw, are at a “crisis point” in their relationship just as a beautiful couple – played by Eleanor Tomlinson and Alfred Enoch – move in next door, making their lives all the more complicated.

“It’s make or break for them, I think,” Heughan says. “And this new couple coming in obviously is refreshing and new energy and new life and they welcome them into it. But it also has obviously big consequences.”

The Couple Next Door airs on Starz Fridays at 9 p.m. ET.

Renée Zellweger is opening up about why she took a half-decade hiatus from acting, and it has to do with the sound of her voice.

In a recent interview with Hugh Grant for British Vogue, Grant asked Zellweger why she took a break from acting between the years 2010 and 2016.

“Because I needed to. I was sick of the sound of my own voice. When I was working, I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, listen to you. Are you sad again, Renée? Oh, is this your mad voice?’ It was a regurgitation of the same emotional experiences,” Zellweger said.

While she did not do any acting during her break, Zellweger said she kept up with her artistry by writing music, among other new hobbies she picked up.

The actress “studied international law. I built a house, rescued a pair of older doggies, created a partnership that led to a production company, advocated for and fundraised with a sick friend, and spent a lot of time with family and godchildren and driving across the country with the dogs. I got healthy” during her acting hiatus, she said.

Zellweger and Grant will reunite in the upcoming fourth Bridget Jones film, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, which streams on Peacock on Feb. 13.

Riley Keough is sharing how she wants to raise her kids differently than her own upbringing.

In an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast released on Wednesday, the actress, who is the eldest daughter of the late Lisa Marie Presley, opened up about her childhood, talked about the relationship she had with her mother and shared what she wants to instill in her children.

“I think she was such an amazing parent and she wanted us to have — I think her father did — these amazing experiences all the time,” Keough told host Alex Cooper. “For me personally, I think that the problem there could be for some that when you’re used to so much, it’s hard to find joy in simple things.”

“I really want my children to be able to find joy … just playing in the backyard and doing normal kid stuff and not need like elephants and circus and all these things all the time,” she said.

The actress also talked about the mother-daughter dynamic she had with Presley, who died in January 2023 at 54 from a small bowel obstruction. Keough said the dynamic with her mom “changed” when Presley “fell into her addiction.”

“There was a certain point, probably in my mid 20s, when I sort of became more of the caretaker in the relationship. And I think it was around when she became addicted to opiates,” Keough said.

As a mom to daughter Tupelo Storm, whom she shares with husband Ben Smith-Petersen, Keough said she doesn’t want to ever burden her kids and make them feel like they have to take care of her.

“I really am going to try my best,” she said. “I don’t know if it’s just inevitable, but as a parent, I don’t ever want my kids to feel like they have to take care of me, or unless they literally do. But I mean like emotionally, you know?”

“I don’t want my children to feel like my happiness is their responsibility,” she added.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ gets tense, action-packed official trailer

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ gets tense, action-packed official trailer
Marvel Television

The official trailer for Daredevil: Born Again is here at long last.

The clip centers around Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), the blind lawyer by day and vigilante by night, and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio), the former mob boss, having an increasingly tense conversation at a diner intercut with bloody, bone-breaking action.

“I will admit, it’s not entirely unpleasant seeing you again,” Fisk says after Murdock thanks him for meeting him. “A lot of time has passed. By the look of it, you’ve come up in the world.”

Murdock returns the favor, saying, “I could say the same about you.”

Fisk defends his new title of mayor, claiming he’s the one who “serves his city,” but he’s quick to notice Murdock’s not buying it.

“I can see you’re not entirely convinced,” Fisk says. Murdock replies, “Can you blame me? I can’t shake the feeling that you’re gaming the system.”

Later in the trailer, Fisk suggests that “sometimes peace needs to be broken and chaos must reign.”

“I was raised to believe in grace, but I was also raised to believe in retribution,” Murdock says as the trailer comes to a close — but not before he meets up with Jon Bernthal‘s Frank Castle/The Punisher.

According to the series’ official synopsis, Murdock continues to “fight for justice” while Fisk “pursues his own political endeavors in New York,” adding, “When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.”

The series also stars Margarita Levieva, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Wilson Bethel, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki M. James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini and Ayelet Zurer.

Daredevil: Born Again premieres on Disney+ on March 4 at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET.

Disney is the parent company of Marvel and ABC News.
