It’s April 25 and several Miss Congeniality stars are celebrating the “perfect date.”

On Friday, stars of the iconic movie took to Instagram to commemorate the date, which has unofficially been dubbed Miss Congeniality Day in pop culture for the 2000 film’s iconic scene with actress Heather Burns.

This year, the date also coincides with the film’s 25th anniversary.

In the movie, April 25 is mentioned when Burns’ character Cheryl Frasier aka Miss Rhode Island, a contestant in the Miss United States pageant, answers an interview prompt from William Shatner‘s character, pageant MC Stan Fields.

“Describe your perfect date,” Stan says in the scene.

Cheryl replies, “That’s a tough one. I’d have to say April 25th, because it’s not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket.”

Burns, who has commemorated the day several times over the years, took to her Instagram Story on Friday and shared a photo from the film with her co-stars, writing, “Happy April 25th! Wishing everyone peace and love.”

Shatner also shared an image from the film on his Instagram Story, writing, “Happy 25th anniversary!”

Actresses who starred as other pageant contestants in the movie, including Melissa De Sousa, Deirdre Quinn and LeeAnne Locken, also celebrated the date on social media.

De Sousa, who played Karen (Miss New York) in the movie, wrote, “April 25th is the perfect date! HAPPY 25TH ANNIVERSARY MISS CONGENIALITY!!!”

“What an unforgettable experience we had shooting this movie,” she added. “Such fond memories, starting with Sandra Bullock, who is the kindest human being. I made lifelong friends with these beautiful women!”

Jesse Plemons volunteers as tribute.

The actor has been cast to play Plutarch Heavensbee in the upcoming film The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. It’s the movie adaptation of the prequel novel by Suzanne Collins, which was released on March 18.

The character Plutarch Heavensbee appeared in Catching Fire and the two Mockingjay films as the Head Gamemaker of The Hunger Games and also a leader of the rebellion. He was played by the late Philip Seymour Hoffman in those films, the latter which happened to be his final film role.

Plemons and Hoffman worked together on the 2012 film The Master, where Plemons played Hoffman’s son.

In this new novel, a young Plutarch Heavensbee captures the reaping of the tributes in District 12.

This new prequel film will begin filming in July. Francis Lawrence will direct the movie that revisits the world of Panem 24 years before the events of the original The Hunger Games story. Plemons joins the previously announced cast of Joseph Zada, Whitney Peak and Mckenna Grace.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will release in theaters on Nov. 20, 2026.

Meghann Fahy is Milly Alcock‘s older sister in the trailer for the new limited series Sirens.

Netflix released the trailer for the show on Friday. It shows off the mysterious seaside estate known as the Cliff House, as well as the star-studded cast of characters who live and work there.

Julianne Moore plays Michaela Kell, a housewife married to billionaire Peter Kell, played by Kevin Bacon. Alcock stars as Mrs. Kell’s assistant, Simone DeWitt, who is loyal to her boss to a fault. When Simone’s older sister Devon, played by Fahy, pays a visit to the manor, she is creeped out by the relationship her sister has with her boss.

“My sister seems to really worship your wife,” Fahy’s Devon says to Bacon’s Peter in the trailer, who says she “has that effect on people.”

“Michaela’s cult-ish life of luxury is like a drug to Simone, and Devon has decided it’s time for an intervention. But she has no idea what a formidable opponent Michaela will be,” according to the series’ official synopsis. “Told over the course of one explosive weekend at The Kells’ lavish beach estate, Sirens is an incisive, sexy, and darkly funny exploration of women, power, and class.”

Glenn Howerton, Felix Solis and Bill Camp also star in the upcoming limited series.

Sirens arrives May 22 on Netflix.

Julia Garner is opening up about her upcoming role in Fantastic Four: First Steps.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actress talked about her role as Silver Surfer and said, “She’s so different than anyone I’ve ever played.”

“I don’t expect everybody to watch Ozark or [Inventing] Anna or The Assistant,” she said. “Some people are only going to watch certain things, so that’s why I want to branch out to every genre, and that’s one of the reasons why I wanted to do Marvel — it’s reaching a different kind of audience.”

Audiences got a first look at Garner as Silver Surfer when the trailer was released last week. It features Garner gliding above the city on her floating surfboard.

Before the film, the Emmy Award-winner said she familiarized herself with the Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer comics.

“I knew about some of the famous comic book characters, some of them I didn’t know,” she said. “So when I got presented with this opportunity, I was like, ‘Wait, what? Me?’ Yeah, I was in disbelief, almost because it was so cool.”

“I knew that this Fantastic Four was going to be told in a very different way than even the other movies,” she added.

Garner said director Matt Shakman couldn’t say much about the character before she took on the role, but described Silver Surfer to her as having a “mystery about her.”

When asked if she would be interested in doing a Silver Surfer spinoff movie, Garner said, “A hundred percent.”

Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach also star in Fantastic Four as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Ben Grimm/The Thing, respectively.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters July 25.

Finn Wolfhard on the practical effects in ‘The Legend of Ochi’

The fantastical world of The Legend of Ochi is now available to experience in movie theaters.

The new A24 film from director Isaiah Saxon expands to movie screens nationwide on Friday. It follows farm girl Yuri, who has been raised to fear the elusive animal species of ochi. When Yuri, played by Helena Zengel, saves a wounded baby ochi one day, she discovers the creatures aren’t to be feared, and quests to deliver the young animal back home.

Finn Wolfhard also stars in the adventure-fantasy, and he tells ABC Audio he was excited to act alongside the ochi puppets in a film that used practical, hand-crafted effects.

“The big reason why I did this, wanted to do this movie, is because it was using practical effects and puppets. And I think there’s something to be said about just the artistry that goes into that,” Wolfhard said.

The Stranger Things star is no stranger to projects that require visual effects, but he said The Legend of Ochi was different. Saxon avoided using additional CGI with any of the ochi puppets, meaning most everything on screen came from performances and practical builds.

“Obviously there’s such incredible things that can be done with visual effects after the fact that are incredible. And so many amazing people and amazing artists do that, but there’s just something to be said about practical effects,” Wolfhard said.

He continued, saying practical effects “make acting easier” and “gives more of an authentic viewing experience for audiences.”

“It’s an important movie to make because not a lot of movies like that exist much anymore,” Wolfhard said.

Au revoir, Camille.

Emily in Paris star Camille Razat has broken her silence on her decision to leave the Netflix series after being a part of the main cast for four seasons. The actress confirmed the news of her departure in a lengthy post shared to Instagram.

“After an incredible journey, I’ve made the decision to step away from Emily in Paris,” Razat wrote. “It has been a truly wonderful experience, one filled with growth, creativity, and unforgettable memories.”

Razat, who played Camille, Emily’s friend and rival for her beau Gabriel’s heart, thanked the show’s creator Darren Star, Netflix and Paramount Pictures “for their trust and for giving me the opportunity to bring Camille to life.”

The actress isn’t saying no to making future appearances on the show, it seems, as she thanked Star and the team for “leaving the door open for her return, as she will always be a part of Emily In Paris world.”

She also offered some explanation as to why she decided to leave the series.

“This character has meant a lot to me, and I feel that her storyline has naturally come to an end,” Razat said. “It felt like the right moment to explore new horizons.”

Razat ended her message by saying she has nothing but love for everyone involved with Emily in Paris.

“I leave the show with nothing but love and admiration for the cast, crew, and fans who have supported us along the way,” Razat said. “Thank you for the beautiful ride.”

Production on season 5 of Emily in Paris begins in May. They will film in Rome first before moving to Paris. The season is set to debut on Netflix later in 2025.

‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ season 3 teaser trailer debuts with two Taylor Swift songs

‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ season 3 teaser trailer debuts with two Taylor Swift songs

Belly is torn between love being burnin’ red and golden in the official teaser trailer for season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty.

Two Taylor Swift songs play throughout the new teaser for the upcoming season, which starts streaming the first of its 11 episodes July 16 on Prime Video.

The beginning of the teaser trailer finds Lola Tung‘s Belly Conklin happily in love with her boyfriend, Jeremiah Fisher, played by Gavin Casalegno. The song “Daylight” from Swift’s album Lover plays over a montage of their relationship, which features cute couple activities like a movie night out by the pool at the Cousins Beach house and feeding each other while sharing lunch in the dining hall at college.

As the “Daylight” lyric “I once believed love would be burnin’ red, but it’s golden,” plays, the trailer shifts. Suddenly, Belly stands by a door as her former boyfriend and Jeremiah’s brother, Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney), walks in. It’s noticeably winter. He holds a candy cane in his mouth as Swift’s song “Red” from the corresponding album begins. Only one lyric from the song plays: “Loving him was red” Swift sings over the intense moment.

The third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty begins with a time jump. “It’s the end of her junior year of college, and Belly’s looking forward to another summer in Cousins with her soulmate, Jeremiah,” according to the official synopsis. “Her future seems set, until some core-shaking events bring her first love Conrad back into her life. Now on the brink of adulthood, Belly finds herself at a crossroads and must decide which brother has her heart. Summer will never be the same.”

The Summer I Turned Pretty is based on the bestselling book series by Jenny Han, who also serves as showrunner and an executive producer.
