Pierce Brosnan is the patriarch of an Irish crime family in the hit Paramount+ series MobLand, a show filled with deception, blood and violence.

While Brosnan is enjoying his time on that series, does he dream of lacing his dancing shoes back on, stepping back into the Greek sun and singing along to ABBA songs?

He tells ABC Audio yes — Brosnan is hoping to get to make a third Mamma Mia! film.

“I can’t wait. I’m there,” Brosnan said. “I think we all want to do a third one.”

The actor began to list his costars who he believes would love to return to their roles in the musical franchise.

“I’m sure Meryl [Streep] would. And Colin [Firth] and Stellan [Skarsgård] and Amanda [Seyfried] and Lily [James], yeah,” he said.

Streep starred as Donna Sheridan in the first Mamma Mia! film, which was released in 2008. In the 2018 sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, her character has died in the present-day storyline, while James plays a younger version of Donna to tell the story of how she met her three suitors that one fateful summer of 1979.

While Brosnan says he is ready to step back into his role of Sam Carmichael, husband to Streep’s Donna and father to Seyfried’s Sophie, there is one detail he says must be ironed out first.

“We just have to get ABBA to the table,” Brosnan said. “But, it’s possible.”

A new episode of MobLand drops every Sunday on Paramount+.

John Lithgow is surprised by the backlash from critics of J.K. Rowling over his casting in the upcoming Harry Potter HBO series.

While Lithgow said he thought hard about whether or not he would take on the role as Albus Dumbledore in the show, he told U.K.’s Sunday Times it was due to the time commitment of it and not whether or not he wanted to be associated with Rowling.

Rowling has long been criticized by LGBTQIA+ organizations and members for her repeated rhetoric that is tied to the TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminists) movement, who are a group of people that believe transgender women are not women.

“It was a big decision because it’s probably the last major role I’ll play,” Lithgow said. “It’s an eight-year commitment, so I was just thinking about mortality and that this is a very good winding-down role.”

After he had been cast in the part, Lithgow said he received a text from “a very good friend who is the mother of a trans child.” The text included a link to an op-ed titled, An Open Letter to John Lithgow: Please Walk Away from Harry Potter.

“That was the canary in the coal mine,” Lithgow said, before explaining he has been surprised by the rage Rowling’s name and involvement in the project evokes.

“I thought, ‘Why is this a factor at all?’ I wonder how J.K. Rowling has absorbed it. I suppose at a certain point I’ll meet her, and I’m curious to talk to her,” Lithgow said.

When asked if the criticism from critics of Rowling has soured his part in the show, Lithgow said, “Oh, heavens no.”

Brad Pitt is teaming up with Conclave director Edward Berger for his next film.

Pitt will star in the upcoming A24 film The Riders, which Berger will direct, ABC Audio has confirmed.

The Riders will be based on the Tim Winton novel of the same name. Bones and All scribe David Kajganich will adapt the book into the film’s script.

The novel follows Australian traveler Fred Scully, who will be played by Pitt in the film. It is a period piece set in December 1987. After he’s explored Europe for two years, Fred winds up in Ireland with his family, where he buys a cottage. Fred spends weeks alone in Ireland renovating the place while his wife and 7-year-old daughter return home to Australia to liquidate their assets. When he goes to pick them up at the airport, Fred finds that only his young daughter got on the returning flight, with no explanation from his wife whatsoever.

Ridley Scott is among the film’s producers, along with Kajganich, Berger and Pitt.

Production on the film will start in early 2026 with a shoot that is set to take place in multiple locations across Europe. A24 will finance the project and also handle a worldwide theatrical release for the film.

The women who traveled to space aboard the Blue Origin capsule earlier in April have since faced relentless criticism of the trip: It’s been called tone-deaf, a waste of money and worse. But at the TIME100 gala in New York City on April 24, mission member Gayle King told reporters she’ll never get sick of answering questions about it because she thinks the trip had a positive impact.

“I’ll never be tired of it. I feel so proud. I feel so brave. I know the message that it’s sending to young women and girls and boys, too, of all ages,” King insisted. She then spoke about meeting a little girl during Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work Day on Thursday.

“She had on a NASA T-shirt that she wore just for me,” King shared. “Because, she said, ‘I saw you and you look so afraid and you did it anyway. And it made me think it’s OK to do stuff that scares you.'”

“I know the difference it made,” she asserted. “So I focus on the positivity.”

King added that while the focus has been on the more famous members of the crew, like Katy Perry and Lauren Sanchez, it was more than just celebrities in space.

“To me, Amanda Nguyen, Aisha Bowe, Kerianne Flynn, these women who were rocket scientists and astrophysicists and filmmakers and all their backstories … it was such a bonding experience for all of us,” King said of the crew. “We’ll never forget it.”

In fact, King shared that all six women are now planning their next excursion.

“We were on a text chain today saying, ‘We need to all go to Katy’s concert! Which city can we go and when?’ That’s our next group activity.”

Sinners, the vampire thriller that marks the latest collaboration between director Ryan Coogler and actor Michael B. Jordan, sank its teeth into the #1 spot at the box office for a second week in a row.

According to Box Office Mojo, the critically acclaimed horror film took in $45 million in its second week — nearly as much as its $48 million start.  So far, the film has grossed nearly $162 million globally — impressive considering that it cost just $90 million to make.

Ben Affleck‘s The Accountant 2, the sequel to the 2016 original, only managed a third-place debut with $24.5 million, behind the re-release of Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith, which returned to theaters in celebration of its 20th anniversary and brought in $25.2 million.

The Accountant 2‘s box office take is respectable, considering it’s an R-rated action thriller, but since it cost $80 million to make, it has a ways to go to match the profitability of the original, which has earned $155 million globally.

Other new entries in the box office top 10 include Until Dawn, an R-rated horror film that debuted at #5 with $8 million, and Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii –– a restored version of the British rock legends’ 1972 concert film — which is in at #9 with $2.6 million.

Here are the top 10 films at the box office:

1. Sinners – $45 million
2. Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith – $25.2 million
3. The Accountant 2– $24.5 million
4. A Minecraft Movie – $22.7 million
5. Until Dawn – $8 million
6. The King of Kings – $4 million
7. The Amateur – $3.8 million
8. Warfare – $2.7 million
9. Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii – $2.6 million
10. The Legend of Ochi – $1.4 million

It’s April 25 and several Miss Congeniality stars are celebrating the “perfect date.”

On Friday, stars of the iconic movie took to Instagram to commemorate the date, which has unofficially been dubbed Miss Congeniality Day in pop culture for the 2000 film’s iconic scene with actress Heather Burns.

This year, the date also coincides with the film’s 25th anniversary.

In the movie, April 25 is mentioned when Burns’ character Cheryl Frasier aka Miss Rhode Island, a contestant in the Miss United States pageant, answers an interview prompt from William Shatner‘s character, pageant MC Stan Fields.

“Describe your perfect date,” Stan says in the scene.

Cheryl replies, “That’s a tough one. I’d have to say April 25th, because it’s not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket.”

Burns, who has commemorated the day several times over the years, took to her Instagram Story on Friday and shared a photo from the film with her co-stars, writing, “Happy April 25th! Wishing everyone peace and love.”

Shatner also shared an image from the film on his Instagram Story, writing, “Happy 25th anniversary!”

Actresses who starred as other pageant contestants in the movie, including Melissa De Sousa, Deirdre Quinn and LeeAnne Locken, also celebrated the date on social media.

De Sousa, who played Karen (Miss New York) in the movie, wrote, “April 25th is the perfect date! HAPPY 25TH ANNIVERSARY MISS CONGENIALITY!!!”

“What an unforgettable experience we had shooting this movie,” she added. “Such fond memories, starting with Sandra Bullock, who is the kindest human being. I made lifelong friends with these beautiful women!”

Jesse Plemons volunteers as tribute.

The actor has been cast to play Plutarch Heavensbee in the upcoming film The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. It’s the movie adaptation of the prequel novel by Suzanne Collins, which was released on March 18.

The character Plutarch Heavensbee appeared in Catching Fire and the two Mockingjay films as the Head Gamemaker of The Hunger Games and also a leader of the rebellion. He was played by the late Philip Seymour Hoffman in those films, the latter which happened to be his final film role.

Plemons and Hoffman worked together on the 2012 film The Master, where Plemons played Hoffman’s son.

In this new novel, a young Plutarch Heavensbee captures the reaping of the tributes in District 12.

This new prequel film will begin filming in July. Francis Lawrence will direct the movie that revisits the world of Panem 24 years before the events of the original The Hunger Games story. Plemons joins the previously announced cast of Joseph Zada, Whitney Peak and Mckenna Grace.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will release in theaters on Nov. 20, 2026.
