There was so much about working on Dying for Sex that excited Jenny Slate.

“I think this is the kind of work that actors have appetite for,” Slate told ABC Audio of the FX limited series.

Dying for Sex is based on the true story of friends Molly Kochan and Nikki Boyer as described on their podcast of the same name. Slate plays Nikki on the show, and her performance has earned her a 2025 Emmy nomination for outstanding supporting actress in a limited or anthology series or movie.

“Sometimes it’s wonderful to play a role that’s really, really, really specific and has narrow parameters. That’s also exciting. But, this role for me, the love felt so active between them,” Slate said. “It felt like the love that Molly and Nikki really had in real life, their true beloved friendship, that was somehow installed in their podcast.”

Slate said being a part of Dying for Sex taught her things she carries in her day-to-day life.

“Sometimes there is a part of ourselves that we’re not exactly sure how to transmit to the outside. How do we get it out of us?” Slate said. “I think that’s what performers often are really dying for.”

One of the parts of herself she says she hasn’t yet become comfortable with is expressing anger.

“I feel like I’m always trying to do that in the most respectful way,” Slate said. “And to play Nikki, who’s just fully blasting and is oftentimes disrespectful, but in a way that she feels is fair. It felt really good to exercise that amount of energy because I do have it inside me and haven’t found exactly a place for it yet, except for in stand-up. So, to do it just within the safety of being a character felt so good.”

Emma Stone is opening up about how she shaved her head for a film role.

The actress talked about shaving off her signature red hair for the character she plays in frequent collaborator Yorgos Lanthimos‘ upcoming film, Bugonia, in a recent Vogue cover story.

In Bugonia, Stone plays a pharmaceutical CEO who gets kidnapped by two conspiracy theorists played by Jesse Plemons and Aidan Delbis. The duo believe the hostage’s hair has to change dramatically, so they shave her head with an electric clipper.

“No better feeling in the world,” Stone said about shaving her head. “The first shower when you’ve shaved your head? Oh my God, it’s amazing.”

Plemons said he was nervous about filming the scene. “It was like, ‘Here we go—Emily has shaved her head,’” he said. “We better make this good!”

Even though she enjoyed the experience, Stone said right before filming the scene, she burst into tears remembering how her mother lost her hair while in treatment for breast cancer.

“She actually did something brave,” Stone remembers thinking at the time. “I’m just shaving my head.”

Her mother, Krista Stone, ended up being envious of her new look. “My mom was like, ‘I’m so jealous. I want to shave my head again,’” the actress said.

Stone’s longtime friend Jennifer Lawrence told the outlet she “didn’t want her to shave her head.”

“I had already lived through the Billie Jean King haircut,” Lawrence said, referencing Stone’s 2017 film Battle of the Sexes.

Even still, Lawrence says, “she looked beautiful” with a shaved head. “She pulled it off.”

You can see Stone’s shaved head for yourself when Bugonia arrives in theaters on Oct. 31.

Sophie Turner is responding to a critic who mom-shamed her.

The actress, who shares daughters Willa Jonas and Delphine Jonas with ex-husband Joe Jonas, defended herself in a response to an Instagram comment on her post about attending an Oasis concert.

Turner shared memories from her evening at the Oasis concert to her Instagram. The post included everything from concert videos and pictures of her smiling with friends to a photo of her kissing a poster of Oasis member Liam Gallagher.

“Bucket hats & beers…. That’ll do me. Thank you @levis,” Turner captioned her post.

One Instagram user commented, “Lmfao I think she has forgotten that she has two kids.”

While several fans defended Turner in the comments section, the actress responded to the user herself.

“Ah I’m so sorry sometimes I forget some people can’t think for themselves,” Turner wrote. “So…. Get this….There’s this crazy thing called shared custody. Maybe, just maybe, they were with their dad that day.”

The response garnered support from fans of Turner.

“Queen of the North and of The Comebacks,” a fan commented, while another addressed the double standard involved, writing, “Would you say this to Joe?”

Turner married Jonas in 2019. The latter filed for divorce in September 2023, with the pair reaching a settlement in September 2024.

Jennifer Aniston is opening up about her friendship with the late Matthew Perry.

The actress said in a recent Vanity Fair cover story that she and the Friends cast had been mourning Perry long before he died from the acute effects of ketamine at age 54 in October 2023.

“We did everything we could when we could,” Aniston said. “But it almost felt like we’d been mourning Matthew for a long time because his battle with that disease was a really hard one for him to fight. As hard as it was for all of us and for the fans, there’s a part of me that thinks this is better. I’m glad he’s out of that pain.”

Aniston starred as Rachel Green on Friends while Perry portrayed Chandler Bing on the popular NBC sitcom.

The actress shared a tribute to Perry on Instagram shortly after his death. It included a photo of the pair laughing on the Friends set and a screenshot of a text message Perry had sent her of the same photo.

“Making you laugh just made my day. It made my day,” Perry’s text to Aniston read.

In her tribute caption, Aniston wrote that she loves Perry and still talks to him every day.

“Matty, I love you so much and I know you are now completely at peace and out of any pain,” Aniston wrote. “I talk to you every day… sometimes I can almost hear you saying ‘could you BE any crazier?'”
