20th Century Studios released a new trailer for the upcoming third film in the Avatar franchise on Thursday.

James Cameron directed the sequel film that follows Na’vi leader Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), his wife, Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and their family as they go to war with an enemy Na’vi tribe.

That world includes the origins of the fire Na’vi, whose land was destroyed by volcanic lava. The trailer shows off sweeping new landscapes, environments and creatures. We also see the return of Toruk, the large flying animal native to Pandora that we haven’t seen since the end of 2009’s Avatar, when Jake Sully released it back into the wild.

The trailer also finds human Miles “Spider” Socorro, played by Jack Champion, walking around on Pandora without the air-filtering mask that allows him to breathe.

“What if every human being on Earth could live here without a mask?” Jake Sully asks. “Then the Na’vi people will be gone.”

Mel Owens regrets the ageist comments he made on a podcast over the summer.

The 66-year-old star of ABC’S The Golden Bachelor apologized on the show’s premiere episode Wednesday night for comments he made in June about his preferred age range for the female contestants on his season.

At the time, Owens said he would be “cutting them” if they were over 60.

The comments, which Owens said on the In the Trenches podcast, were met with criticism by many.

“I messed up,” Owens said on Wednesday night’s episode. “I was wrong. I replay it in my head a lot. I have regrets and I’m sorry for all the things I said in the podcast.”

He continued, “I know what a lot of people are thinking about me, but that’s not who I am.”

On the show’s premiere episode, a handful of the women who stepped out of the limo to meet Owens for the first time questioned him right away about the comments he made.

Diane, 71, a librarian and hockey player from Wasilla, AK, asked him, “What the puck was that interview on that podcast?”

Owens apologized to her and asked for a second chance. She replied and said, “Stick with me, I’ll keep you out of the penalty box.”

Carla, 62, a former model from Los Angeles, said that she’s “here to break all of your stereotypes about women over 60.”

Owens gave the first impression rose to Gerri, 64, from Rockville, Maryland.

Owens said he was touched by the story she told about her family and a letter she shared with him from her daughter.

Season 2 of The Golden Bachelor airs Wednesdays on ABC at 8 p.m. ET/PT and is available to stream the next day on Hulu.

During the show, Barbara told her television audience that she has reached agreement in principle to work for the American Broadcasting Company. Among her duties would be to co-anchor the evening news program. With a reported salary of $1 million a year for five years, the agreement would make her highest paid on camera news person in the television industry. (ABC News Studios)

A documentary all about Barbara Walters makes its network TV debut on Thursday.

The film, called Tell Me Everything, originally premiered on Hulu and Disney+. It broadcasts on ABC on Thursday in honor of the late journalist’s birthday. Walters famously created the popular talk show The View, and its hosts Whoopi GoldbergJoy Behar and Sara Haines spoke to ABC Audio about what they admire about her.

“Just that she really gave zero [cares] about what people thought of her. All the things they said about her … you know, ‘You’re not this, you’re not good enough,’ and she’s like, ‘OK,’ and went on and did what she wanted to do the way she wanted it to do it and created a space for lots of women in broadcasting. That hadn’t existed,” Goldberg said. “She makes me happy.”

Haines said the documentary taught her things about Walters she didn’t know.

“I knew the highlight moments, the ones you saw on TV and the clips I’d seen. I did not know the underbelly of just how fierce she was. And realizing only Barbara Walters could have ever been Barbara Walters,” Haines said. “It took a very unique person to pay the price and reap the amazing benefits of a life led that big.”

Behar shared that she misses Walters to this day and credits her with the decades she has spent on The View.

“I thank Barbara for my 29, or 27, years on this show. I got to stay in my hometown of New York City with a job every day for all these years. So thank you, Barbara, wherever you are. She and I had a friendship, a real friendship. I would have dinner at her house,” Behar said. “I miss her to this day, I really do.”

Emma Watson is opening up about her current relationship with Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling.

The actress shared her thoughts on Rowling’s anti-trans views while guesting on a recent episode of Jay Shetty‘s podcast On Purpose.

While Watson did not explicitly reference Rowling’s repeated rhetoric tied to the TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminists) movement — a group of people who believe transgender women are not women — she did comment on the situation, saying she is upset that a conversation with Rowling on the topic “was never made possible.”

“I just don’t want to say anything that continues to weaponize a really toxic debate and conversation, which is why I don’t comment or continue to comment — not because I don’t care about her or about the issue — but because the way that the conversation is being had feels really painful to me,” Watson said.

Watson also said she will always be grateful to Rowling for creating the character of Hermione Granger and that she thinks fondly of her time working with Rowling on the Harry Potter films.

“There is just no world in which I could ever cancel her out for — or cancel that out — for anything. It has to remain true — it is true,” Watson said.

The actress added, “I can love her, I can know she loved me, I can be grateful to her, I can know the things that she said are true, and there can be this whole other thing. My job feels like to just hold all of it, but the bigger thing is just what she’s done will never be taken away from me.”

Jessica Chastain is opening up about Apple TV+’s decision to postpone the debut of The Savant.

A spokesperson for Apple TV+ announced Tuesday that the thriller series’ debut would be postponed to a future date. It was supposed to premiere on Friday.

Chastain took to Instagram on Wednesday to share her thoughts on the series’ delay.

“I want to say how much I value my partnership with Apple. They’ve been incredible collaborators and I deeply respect their team. That said, I wanted to reach out and let you know that we’re not aligned on the decision to pause the release of The Savant,” Chastain said.

The actress went on to detail the “unfortunate amount of violence in the United States” that has occurred “in the last five years since we’ve been making the show.”

“The kidnapping attempt on Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer; the January 6th attack on the Capitol; the assassination attempts on President Trump; the political assassinations of Democratic representatives in Minnesota; the attack on Speaker Pelosi’s husband; the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk; the recent shooting at an ABC affiliate station in California; and over 300 school shootings across this country,” Chastain wrote. “These incidents, though far from encompassing the full range of violence witnessed in the United States, illustrate a broader mindset that crosses the political spectrum and must be confronted.”

Chastain wrote she has “never shied away from difficult subjects, and while I wish this show wasn’t so relevant, unfortunately it is. The Savant is about the heroes who work every day to stop violence before it happens, and honoring their courage feels more urgent than ever.”

She ended her post by saying while she respects Apple’s decision to pause The Savant‘s release for now, she remains “hopeful the show will reach audiences soon.”

“Until then, I’m wishing safety and strength for everyone, and I’ll let you know if and when The Savant is released,” Chastain wrote.

The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before,” according to the season’s official synopsis. “To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.”

As for what fans can expect from the final season, creators Ross Duffer and Matt Duffer say it is the biggest season they’ve ever made in terms of action, visual effects and story.

“It’s more of an adventure and more of a mission, which I really like,” Brown said. “Everybody is really put into the thick of it. No one is sitting back on a walkie-talkie. Everyone is full throttle, going for it.”

Wolfhard says that season 5 is “the highest stakes the show has ever been,” while McLaughlin says it shows that, “We’ve come full circle.”

“The fans will be truly satisfied with the ending,” McLaughlin said.

Stranger Things season 5 debuts volume 1 on Nov. 26. Volume 2 of the final season arrives on Christmas, while the series finale premieres on New Year’s Eve. Each batch of episodes arrives to Netflix on those days at 5 p.m. PT.

Regina Hall is opening up about how she once considered becoming a nun.

The actress said she seriously considered becoming a nun at several moments in her life while guesting on a recent episode of Amy Poehler‘s Good Hang podcast.

“I went to Catholic school, and so we had the nuns, who I loved. I loved my nuns,” Hall said.

Poehler then asked what specifically Hall loved about nuns.

“They were strict, but they were loving,” Hall said, before detailing exactly when she considered becoming a nun.

“When I was in high school, and then again when I was older and I was too old,” Hall said. “Thirty-nine, that was the cutoff. I was 41. They were like, ‘It’s not a backup plan, miss. Get on out of here.'”

Hall said that, as a young person, the idea of spending a life in prayer for others and having “no romantic heartbreak” was enticing.

“I’m sure that it’s not that easy, I’m just saying that was what I romanticized it would be if I did it,” Hall said. “I thought that was lovely.”

The actress also says she believes in past lives and believes she was a nun in a past life.

“I believe I had a past life where I was that. I believe I’ve come from that,” Hall said. “It probably exists within me because it has existed.”

Hall stars in the upcoming film One Battle After Another, which arrives in theaters on Friday.
