Justin Baldoni’s lawsuit against Blake Lively dismissed by federal judge

Justin Baldoni‘s lawsuit against Blake Lively was dismissed by a federal judge in New York on Monday.

The It Ends With Us costars have been in a heated legal feud since 2024.

In his motion, Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed Baldoni’s $400 million countersuit against Lively, her husband, Ryan Reynolds, the couple’s publicist, Leslie Sloane, as well as Baldoni’s defamation claim against The New York Times.

“The alleged facts indicate that the Times reviewed the available evidence and reported, perhaps in a dramatized manner, what it believed to have happened,” the opinion said. “The Times had no obvious motive to favor Lively’s version of events.”

Baldoni has until June 23 to refile some of his claims.

Lively’s lawyers, Esra Hudson and Mike Gottlieb, called the dismissal a “total victory and complete vindication for Blake Lively, along with those that Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties dragged into their retaliatory lawsuit, including Ryan Reynolds, Leslie Sloane and The New York Times.”

“As we have said from day one, this ‘$400 million’ lawsuit was a sham, and the Court saw right through it,” the statement continued. “We look forward to the next round, which is seeking attorneys’ fees, treble damages and punitive damages against Baldoni, [Steve] Sarowitz, [Melissa] Nathan, and the other Wayfarer Parties who perpetrated this abusive litigation.”

Good Morning America has reached out to Baldoni’s lawyers for comment.

Lively first filed a complaint on Dec. 20, 2024, against Baldoni with the California Civil Rights Department, accusing him of sexual harassment on the set of the film, which he also directed.

Baldoni responded on Dec. 31, 2024, with the now-dismissed lawsuit against the Times for libel and false light invasion of privacy after it published the article about Lively’s California complaint.

The lawsuit claimed the Times, which included in its article alleged text messages and email exchanges between Baldoni’s publicists Jennifer Abel and Melissa Nathan and the newspaper, had relied on “cherry-picked” and altered communications, with details “stripped of necessary context and deliberately spliced” to “mislead.”

Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, said at the time that the Times “cowered to the wants and whims of two powerful ‘untouchable’ Hollywood elites, disregarding journalistic practices and ethics once befitting of the revered publication by using doctored and manipulated texts and intentionally omitting texts which dispute their chosen PR narrative.”

A New York Times spokesperson told GMA at the time that they “plan to vigorously defend against the lawsuit.”

That same day, Lively formalized details from her California complaint into a lawsuit against Baldoni and other defendants for sexual harassment.

Baldoni has denied the allegations.

Fans of Hamilton were satisfied when the original company of the show reunited onstage at the 78th annual Tony Awards.

Led by creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda, more than two dozen members of the original cast of Hamilton took to the stage at Radio City Music Hall to perform a medley in honor of the show’s 10th anniversary.

The performance began with Miranda and Leslie Odom Jr., who won a Tony for playing Aaron Burr in the musical, taking the stage to perform the first lines from the Act 1 closer “Non-Stop.”

They were quickly joined by their castmates, including Phillipa Soo, Daveed Diggs, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Christopher Jackson and Jonathan Groff.

The medley included a number of snippets of fan-favorite tracks from the musical, including “My Shot,” “The Schuyler Sisters,” “Guns and Ships,” “You’ll Be Back,” “Yorktown (The World Turned Upside Down),” “The Room Where it Happens” and “History Has Its Eyes on You.”

Eventually, the celebratory performance came full circle as the original cast ended by belting out the final snippet of “Non-Stop.”

This performance does not mark the end of the 10th anniversary celebrations. Odom is set to reprise his Tony-winning role at the Richard Rodgers Theatre this fall. He’ll return to Aaron Burr for a limited engagement starting on Sept. 9 and running through Nov. 26.

It seems as though Mia Goth is set to enter a galaxy far, far away.

The actress has joined Ryan Gosling in the upcoming film Star Wars: Starfighter, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Shawn Levy is directing the new film, which is set to start filming in the fall. It’s scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 28, 2027.

While specific details have yet to be revealed, the story will take place around five years after the events of the 2019 film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It will be a standalone story unconnected to the Skywalker Saga. The plot involves Gosling’s character protecting a young charge against a group of evil pursuers.

Goth would be playing one of the evil pursuers.

Levy spoke about the upcoming film onstage at Star Wars Celebration in Japan back in April.

“This is a stand-alone. It’s not a prequel, not a sequel. It’s a new adventure. It’s set in a period of time that we haven’t seen explored yet,” Levy said at the time.

Denzel Washington‘s news about Black Panther 3 holds up. Ryan Coogler confirmed he will indeed be part of the cast of the 2028 movie, sharing it’s been a longtime desire to work alongside the Othello star.

“Denzel is family at this point … I’ve been trying to work with him since day one,” Coogler said on Carmelo Anthony‘s 7PM in Brooklyn podcast. “I think he’s the greatest living actor, and in terms of what he means to our culture, forget about it. I’ve been talking to him about this for a long time.”

Washington previously spilled the beans in November 2024 while sharing his upcoming projects on Australian Today. According to Variety, he said Coogler was “writing a part for me in the next Black Panther. After that, I’m going to do the film Othello. After that, I’m going to do King Lear. After that, I’m going to retire.”

“For me, it’s about the filmmakers. Especially at this point in my career, I am only interested in working with the best,” he said at the time. “I don’t know how many more films I’m going to make. It’s probably not that many. I want to do things I haven’t done.”

Of the revelation, Coogler admits, “I was surprised when he mentioned it, but it’s not like it’s not true.”

Washington is currently wrapping up Othello on Broadway, with the movie Highest 2 Lowest on the way. Meanwhile, Coogler’s latest movie, Sinners, is now available to stream at home; it’s up for digital purchase on Prime Video.

Lindsay Lohan, Jamie Lee Curtis star in new ‘Freakier Friday’ trailer

Glen Wilson

A new trailer for Freakier Friday has arrived.

The trailer, which Disney released on Friday, shows off Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis reprising their roles as Anna and Tess Coleman.

“Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice,” according to the film’s official synopsis.

That’s right: there’s another body-switching incident. This time, however, it’s a four-way body swap, with Anna and Tess switching into the bodies of Anna’s daughter, Harper, and future stepdaughter, Sophie.

In the trailer, Anna is preparing to get married to Manny Jacinto‘s Eric. She asks for help in writing her vows. Harper, played by Julia Butters, gives her some inspiration.

“How about this? ‘I, Anna, take you, Eric, a man whose daughter is a little demon thing with an obnoxious accent,'” Harper says.

Nisha Ganatra directed the film, which serves as a sequel to the 2003 film Freaky Friday. Both movies are based off the book by Mary Rodgers.

Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Rosalind Chao, Chad Michael Murray, Vanessa Bayer and Mark Harmon also star in the film.

Freakier Friday arrives in theaters on Aug. 8.
