We Were Liars is coming back for another season.

Prime Video has renewed the hit mystery-thriller series for season 2. The show, which is based on the bestselling novel by E. Lockhart, will return for a sophomore season from co-showrunners Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie.

“We loved making this show with so many spectacular humans,” Plec and Mackenzie said in a press release. “The fan response was truly special. There are still plenty of secrets buried on Beechwood Island and we can’t wait to keep digging them up.”

Lockhart also weighed in on the show’s renewal, saying, “MacKenzie and Plec have big, big plans for season two, including everything readers of my books are dying to see onscreen — and a lot of surprises as well.”

Season 1 of We Were Liars told the story of Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her inner circle, nicknamed the Liars, as they enjoy summer on her grandfather’s New England private island.

“The Sinclairs are American royalty—known for their good looks, old money, and enviable bond—but after a mysterious accident changes Cadence’s life forever, everyone, including her beloved Liars, seems to have something to hide,” according to its official synopsis.

Emily Alyn Lind led the cast as Cadence Sinclair Eastman in season 1. The ensemble was also made up of Shubham Maheshwari as Gat Patil, Esther McGregor as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield, Joseph Zada as Johnny Sinclair Dennis, Caitlin FitzGerald as Penny Sinclair, Mamie Gummer as Carrie Sinclair, Candice King as Bess Sinclair, Rahul Kohli as Ed Patil and David Morse as Harris Sinclair.

The Morning Show is back for another season.

Season 4 picks up almost two years after the events of season 3, with the UBA-NBN merger fully complete and the newsroom grappling with truth in an increasingly polarized America.

Mark Duplass plays Chip, the former executive producer of the fictional news program The Morning Show. He told ABC Audio this new season reflects what is happening in the real world, just like the three seasons that came before it.

“We’re experiencing an incredible amount of anxiety about what’s real and what’s not with the advent of AI into the news world,” Duplass said.

He cited deepfake celebrity videos — like “those early deepfake videos of Bill Hader as he turned into Tom Cruise” and artificial intelligence-generated advertisements as real-life inspiration for season 4.

“How are we going to know what is real and what is not? And the disruptors are gonna be able to manipulate this in an incredible way,” Duplass said. “That was one storyline when I saw it in the opening episode where I thought, ‘Well, this is really interesting,’ because this is gonna be a major issue for us as we look at journalistic integrity and who can we trust in the next few years.”

As for his character, Chip is out of the newsroom this season with “a chance to live a more well-balanced life” when Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) brings him a story that he can’t get out of his head, he said.

“I think that Chip misses being stressed out,” Duplass said. “Chip misses being under the gun, and Chip misses fighting for something that he thinks is important and that he believes in, and that being the truth and journalistic integrity.”

The Morning Show season 4 premieres Wednesday on Apple TV+.

Actor Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney in director Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles biopics, and he talks to Rolling Stone about the work he’s putting in to get it right.

He and his castmates will be performing live for the film, and Mescal tells the mag he’s been learning to play guitar left-handed for the role.

“It would just be crazy to not play it left-handed, you know?” he says. “You’re like, ‘Nah. I like [McCartney] a lot but I don’t love him.’ That would be the messaging if I didn’t play left-handed. And he’s the f***** coolest man on planet earth, I think.”

Mescal was able to meet with McCartney and even got to play a classic Beatles tune with him.

“I will never forget it as long as I live. I got to play ‘Blackbird’ with him,” he says in a video interview with the mag. “That’s the coolest thing that my job has ever afforded me. I was kind of having an out-of-body experience, being like, I was in drama school nine years ago, and now I’m sat opposite Paul McCartney and we’re playing ‘Blackbird.'”

He adds, “I was like, I love my job.”

Mescal says he’s always been a “massive admirer” of McCartney’s music, calling the rocker’s work ethic “absolutely relentless.”

“I’m biased, but I think it’s kind of just an objective fact that like the work that he made has changed the world, the world of pop culture and culture more broadly,” he tells Rolling Stone. “I think he has fundamentally and forever changed the world.”

Mendes’ Beatles films, The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, will be released in April 2028.

Emmy winner Noah Wyle says being part of ‘The Pitt’ ‘feels analogous to when my son was born’

The Pitt came out on top at the 77th Emmy Awards, winning for outstanding drama series. Star Noah Wyle also won outstanding lead actor in a drama series for his portrayal of Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch.

Dr. Robby grapples with grief as he goes about his work day in season 1 of the show, and Wyle told ABC Audio back in February that hearing stories about real-life emergency room doctors relating to his character is the most rewarding part of his job.

“It feels analogous to when my son was born, and they handed him to me for the first time and I went, ‘Oh, that’s why I’m here,'” Wyle said. “Everything I’ve ever done or learned—it hasn’t been for me. The point of it was to teach it to you or to have it as a frame of reference for you.”

Wyle says he feels like The Pitt is exactly where he is meant to be.

“In the same way, I feel very much like, ‘Oh, this is what I’m supposed to be doing right now.’ This feels [like] really an important and impactful show and message to be bringing out there, and I feel like I’m right where I’m supposed to be.”

After starting out as Dr. John Carter on ER, Wyle says playing a doctor again on The Pitt feels “totally full circle,” as the shows were filmed on the same lot.

“We shoot this show on stage 22, we filmed ER on stage 11 — I drive through the same gate that I drove through every day for 15 years and drive past that stage and thousands of ghosts to get to stage 22 to basically put on the same costume and do the same thing that I did when I was in my 20s,” Wyle said. “It feels wonderful and synchronistic, and it feels appropriate and timely, and it’s been really gratifying.”
