Jimmie Allen meets a “Señorita” in a pulsing new song.

The track is a diversion from the Delaware native’s country sound, leaning more into the pop and hip-hop realm that also infuses a flamenco vibe into the music, whisking the listener off to a tropical beach for romance with an island lover.

“I’m waiting patiently/But baby don’t you make me wait too long/I’ve got it bad/My fantasy/You’re everything wrapped up and I’ve been waiting on ya/So let’s say/My little señorita/My little sugar at the bottom of a margarita that I’m sipping on a beach,” Jimmie sings over a Spanish-influenced beat.

“Something Different,” Jimmie notes in the caption accompanying the song.

When not working on new music, Jimmie is competing on Dancing with the Stars, and made it through another elimination round Monday night. He’ll return next Monday night when Dancing with the Stars airs on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.

Thomas Rhett is dropping new music, but he can’t wait to share it with fans.

On Tuesday, the superstar shared a snippet of a new track, “Slow Down Summer,” that will be released on Friday. Set in a small country town, the song captures a sweet summer love that the young couple at the forefront hopes doesn’t fade with the season.

“Falling fast in a one lane town/Tangled up with your lips on mine/Never seen a brighter green than those eyes/And I put my jacket on your shoulder/Wishing the weather wasn’t getting colder/Letting you go/Holding onto each other/Closing our eyes sayin’/Slow down summer,” Thomas sings in the chorus, lip-syncing to the recording as he walks down a hallway.

“New song dropping Friday. Anyone else wish they could Slow Down Summer?” Thomas ponders in the caption.

“Omg I am so excited!!!!” writes one enthusiastic fan, with another calling it, “straight fire.”

Recently, Thomas celebrated his 18th #1 hit with “Country Again,” the title track of his latest album, Country Again: Side A. He’s working on Side B, which is expected to be released later this year.

ZZ Top has partnered with the Waco, Texas-based Balcones Distilling company to create the band’s own unique brand of whiskey, Tres Hombres, named after the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame trios 1973 studio album.

In celebration of ZZ Top’s legacy, the liquor is made using three different grains — roasted blue corn, barley and rye.

Tres Hombres whiskey is available for pre-order now at BalconesDistilling.com and can be ordered soon at KegNBottle.com. The spirits will be available at liquor stores throughout Texas and in select other states starting in mid-November.

“ZZ Top’s love of Texas runs deep and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate that than by creating something together with Balcones — The Original Texas Whisky,” says the band’s manager, Carl Stubner, about the new collaboration. “Tres Hombres exemplifies what can be achieved when brands care deeply about their respective products and legacy.”

Adds Balcones Distilling’s head distiller, Jared Himstedt, “It was incredible to collaborate with the ZZ Top team to develop an exclusive whisky that celebrates ZZ Top’s and Balcones’ shared Texas roots. To actually get to taste through the blending process with ZZ Top and make a whisky that synthesizes our joint vision for Tres Hombres was an honor.”

In other news, ZZ Top’s 2021 U.S. tour continues this Saturday, November 6, in Key West, Florida. The trek winds down December 12 in Midland, Texas.

Dave Bautista calls his role in ‘Dune’ a “blessing”: I’m not [just] a guy in ‘Guardians’ with his shirt off”

Dave Bautista wants the world to know that he’s more than just an “action guy.”

In his latest film, Dune, Bautista says he had the chance to show his skillset as an actor when took on the role of Glossu Rabban, an enforcer for his evil uncle Baron Harkonnen.

“The thing with this character was it just gave me an opportunity to showcase a different type of performance,” Bautista tells ABC Audio. “And that’s what I really love about working with [director Denis Villeneuve], I get an opportunity to show myself as a performer in a different light.”

That different light, Bautista explains, is embodied in his Dune character, who he says is solely motivated by both cruelty and power.

“Like he really wants to be cruel,” Bautista shares. “He’s waiting for the OK from his uncle to say, ‘OK, Rabban, be cruel.'” That’s all he’s waiting for, because that’s all he cares about…”

As simple as his character’s motivation is in the sci-fi drama, Bautista says he’s thankful for his villainous role, which also offered him the opportunity to step away from his “action guy” persona.

“I’m not just a guy in Guardians [of the Galaxy] walking around shirtless and saying stupid s***,” he laughs. “[The role] really just gives me the opportunity to just play these like really, really deep characters. So that’s a blessing.”

Dune, also starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, is in theaters. Meanwhile, Dune part two is scheduled for release sometime in 2023.

Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for its pandemic-delayed Marvel movie Morbius. The creepy coming attraction pays off the trailer’s tease, “The line between hero and villain will be broken.”

Jared Leto stars as Dr. Michael Morbius, a brilliant doctor and biochemist who seeks an unconventional cure for the rare blood disease that afflicts him. Short version: he becomes a vampire.

No stranger to shaping himself for a character, as he did with his Oscar-winning role in The Dallas Buyer’s Club, the 30 Seconds To Mars frontman’s physical shape-shift from diseased doctor to avenging anti-hero is impressive.

“I went from dying to being more alive than ever,” his character says.

Enhanced with super-strength, echolocation and the ability to fly, Morbius soon finds his need to feed on human blood dovetails pretty well with the New York City’s well-stocked supply of creeps.

The film exists in Sony’s so-called Venom-verse: The shared universe is acknowledged when a cop mentions “that thing in San Francisco,” where Tom Hardy‘s movies are set, and when Morbius easily defends himself against a knife-wielding thug.

“Who are you, man!” the subdued baddie asks.

“I am Venom,” Leto says, flashing his vampire visage for a moment, before reverting to his human face. “I’m just kidding,” he smiles, “I’m Dr. Michael Morbius, at your service.”

Morbius, which also stars Oscar winner Michael Keaton, Emmy winner Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson as a sympathetic detective on Morbius’ trail, opens January 28, 2022.

Marvel is owned by Disney, parent company of ABC News.

CDC advisory committee to vote on Pfizer vaccine for children ages 5-11

(ATLANTA) — A committee of independent experts advising the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is set to vote Tuesday whether to recommend the Pfizer vaccine for children 5-11, checking off one of the last boxes in the authorization process.

If members of the committee vote to recommend use of the vaccine, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky is expected to then issue a recommendation as soon as Tuesday evening, the final step in the process, which would allow the first shots to be administered as soon as Wednesday morning.

But vaccinations are not expected to kick into high-gear until Nov. 8, when the White House says Pfizer’s pediatric vaccines will be more widely accessible across the nation.

About 15 million doses are expected to ship out over the next week. The majority, about 10 million, will be available at pediatrician’s offices, children’s hospitals, community centers and mass vaccination sites. About 5 million doses will go to pharmacies.

Many parents are anxious to protect their children after the delta surge over the summer led to increased cases and hospitalizations among kids. Though the variant is not more deadlier, it is more transmissible — and because kids are unvaccinated, the variant rocketed through schools and camps.

The most recent data from Pfizer’s clinical trials found that the vaccine for children ages 5-11 was nearly 91% effective against symptomatic illness.

For kids, the vaccine will be given at a smaller, one-third dose.

The vaccine also appears safe. The company says none of the children in clinical trials experienced a rare heart inflammation side effect known as myocarditis, which has been associated with the mRNA vaccines in very rare cases, mostly among young men.

Last week, all of the efficacy and safety data was reviewed by a panel of experts at the Food and Drug Administration, which then voted nearly-unanimously to authorize the vaccine.

Though there was some debate at the FDA advisory meeting about the potential side effects for children ages 5-11, though none were experienced by any of the 3,100 kids ages 5-11 in the trial, the panel decided any the potential risk was worth the benefit.

Then, last Friday, the vaccine was authorized by FDA acting commissioner Janet Woodcock.

Whether parents will embrace the vaccine for their kids is still a question. In an October poll, the Kaiser Family Foundation found that about a third of parents with kids ages 5-11 were willing to vaccinate their kids right away, while another third wanted to “wait and see.” The figures represented a slight uptick in vaccine acceptance among parents of elementary-school-aged kids since July, but they have stayed steady since September.

Woodcock told reporters on Friday that she hoped parents would quickly see the benefits.

“We certainly hope that as people see children getting vaccinated and being protected, being able to participate in activities without concern, that more and more people will get their kids vaccinated,” she said.

And she emphasized the urgency of preventing the conditions that can come with COVID diagnoses in kids.

“As a parent, if I had young children this age group I would get them vaccinated now. I would not want to take the risk that they would be one of the ones who would develop long COVID, who would develop multi-system inflammatory syndrome or have to be hospitalized from from the virus,” Woodcock said.

Metallica‘s Lars Ulrich and Ozzy Osbourne are among the many members of the metal community paying tribute to beloved English rock journalist Malcolm Dome, who passed away recently at age 66.

Dome, who wrote for publications including Kerrang! and Classic Rock magazine, is credited with the first use of the term “thrash metal,” which came to describe the sound of metal giants including Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax.

“Extremely sad to hear of Malcolm Dome’s passing,” Ulrich tweeted. “Not only was he an incredible talent who helped guide my relationship with heavy music, but he was also a great person. Today, I’m thinking of the fun, memorable times we spent together back in the day.”

Osbourne wrote, “Words cannot express how sorry I feel to hear about the passing of Malcolm Dome. Rest In Peace. God Bless.”

Here are a few other tributes to Dome:

Iron Maiden: “We are all very much saddened and shocked to hear about the passing of our friend Malcolm Dome. He was fearless, intrepid, passionate and forthright as a journalist and latterly a broadcaster and we respected him immensely.”

Mötley Crüe: “Sad to hear about the passing of Malcolm Dome. He was such an important figure for all things rock and metal and championed so many bands over the years. RIP Malcolm.”

Tony Iommi: “Malcolm was a lovely guy, he interviewed me many times and was always positive about the music. He was one of the first journalists to totally get metal. We even worked together last year when he helped me sort out my Wikipedia entry. Sadly missed.”

Geezer Butler: “So sad to hear of the passing of Malcolm Dome, one of rock and metal’s great journalists. It was always a pleasure giving interviews and generally having a chat. RIP Malcolm, you will be missed.”

Josh Brolin marked eight years of sobriety with a lengthy Instagram post that ended with him thanking his friends and family for “the most punk rock sobriety imaginable”

“Sobriety is finally loving without every thought being about how it affects only you. Sobriety is a moment of being able to love and be consumed by the glee it brings someone else. Sobriety is knowing the difference between selfishness and integrity,” The Dune star begins the post.

Adds Brolin, “Sobriety is knowing the moon late at night when she was there for you in your toughest hour and, now, again, her witnessing your greatest joys.”

The 53-year-old actor went on to list the joys of being sober, including, “Climbing in your truck for a 6am call after 8 years of sobriety and there being a card from your wife telling you how grateful she is for having made the decision to put it down,” and how “your children look at you and trust what they see.”

Josh concluded by thanking his family and friends for helping him get through his battle with alcohol.

“Sobriety is about living better than your remembrance of what your greatest drunk ever was — an everyday malleability into gratitude for what is,” noting, “None of this is deserved. All of it is perception. Thank you God, family, and friends for the most punk rock sobriety imaginable.”
