Kane Brown and his wife Katelyn shocked fans when they revealed on December 30 that they’d had another child. Now Katelyn is opening up about why the couple kept her pregnancy a secret.

Unlike her first pregnancy with eldest child Kingsley, the couple purposefully kept the news of the birth of new daughter Kodi Jane out of the public eye. Katelyn says this decision allowed her to form a special bond with the new baby and her husband.

“These past 9 months have been so sacred and special to me. Choosing to keep my pregnancy quiet was the best decision I’ve ever made,” Katelyn expresses in an Instagram post alongside a black-and-white photo of herself holding her baby bump. “Soaking in special moments with my daughter and husband without the influence of social media and outside world made this time that much more intimate and unforgettable.”

She goes on to thank fans for their kindness and support while also praising her superstar husband.

“I am so grateful and blessed to be these little girls mama and can not wait to raise strong, confident, sweet little ladies with you @kanebrown_music … you are the man we all look up to,” she professes.

Katelyn also shared a video of never-before-seen footage captured throughout her pregnancy that includes a sweet clip of Kingsley gently rubbing her belly, along with photos from the hospital that shows the couple smiling from ear-to-ear as Katelyn holds baby Kodi.

After Kodi’s birth, Kane shared a family photo of himself holding Kinsgley as his wife accentuated her baby bump in a pink tule dress. “Been holding on to these pics. I’ve always wanted a son until I had Kingsley and now I’m good with all my girls,” he reflected.

Black-ish is back! The ABC sitcom premieres its eighth and final season Tuesday night.

The show’s return will tackle real world topics including the COVID-19 pandemic, and Marsai Martin, who plays Diane Johnson on the show, was admittedly curious about how the writers would handle it.

“OK, are we going to be wearing masks? How’s our characters going to react to the pandemic? I had all the questions,” she tells ABC Audio, before adding, “So I am, I guess, speaking for lots of people, shout out to the writers. I am honestly so grateful for our writers because they know how to take these deep situations and these topics that a lot of sitcoms don’t really talk about and make it into something beautiful.”

Another beautiful thing that viewers will get to see is growth from both Martin’s character, Diane, and her twin brother on the show, Jack, played by Miles Brown.

“The viewers kind of like see us growing up,” Brown shares. “I feel like some people who are watching aren’t prepared for that. And I don’t think I was… I don’t think any of us were, to be honest.”

He adds, “I’m excited to see how they watch us mature.”

Season eight of Black-ish consists of just 13 episodes, about half of previous seasons, however that didn’t make the final days on set any easier. Brown calls the moment “bittersweet,” and Martin recalls there being “lots of tears.”

One thing they both agree on though is being super grateful for being able to experience something beautiful that a lot of people don’t often experience.

Catch the final season of Black-ish when it premieres at 9:30 ET on ABC.

Bryan Adams reveals the unusual way he’d like to be remembered

2021 was tough for Bryan Adams: He got COVID-19 twice. Thankfully, he didn’t succumb to his illness. But the veteran star has considered how he’d like to be remembered — and it’s pretty unique.

The publication Ramp.space asked Bryan if he’d like to be remembered as a musician or as a photographer, which is his other passion. “I could [sic] care less if I’m remembered or not,” Adams responded. “In fact, if I woke up tomorrow and there was no trace of me on the internet, I’d be thrilled.”

But after that harsh response, the “Summer of ’69” rocker gave the question a bit more thought.

I once did an interview with a Brazilian journalist who asked me if I knew how many kisses my songs were responsible for. I had never thought about that before,” Bryan mused. “He calculated that it would be in the billions. I really liked that. Imagine being responsible for a billion kisses!”

He went on to say that if he were to be remembered in that way, “That would be okay with me, because without love we are nothing.”

“So to be able to bring a little love into this world — that means everything to me,” he added.

Bryan’s new album, So Happy It Hurts, is out March 11. He’s already released three songs from it: the title track,On the Road” and “Kick A**.”  While his New Year’s Eve show in Vancouver was canceled due to COVID-19, he hints that he might want to hit the road this year after doing a November 2021 mini-residency in Las Vegas.

On Instagram, Bryan wrote, “I wonder what 2022 will be like, because after the Vegas shows, the idea of touring got under my skin again. Looking forward to seeing you all.”

When Billie Eilish went blonde earlier this year, it made headlines. But it turns out she managed to keep another change she made to her hair color a few months ago under wraps.

On her Instagram Story on Monday, Billie posted photos dated November 22 of herself at a salon, sporting red hair. She captioned it, “Took the blonde out and went red for a week hehe.”  Ultimately, though, she ended up with a dark brunette color, which she debuted in early December.

It was in March of 2021 that the Grammy winner unveiled her platinum blonde ‘do, which she later revealed she’d covered with a black-and-green wig for weeks because it took that long to get the color right.

Billie posted the redhead pics as part of a response to fans choosing random dates and asking her to post photos that were taken on that day.  The photos that are currently live show her behind-the-scenes of the Met Gala and Saturday Night Live, the day she took all the publicity photos for her album Happier than Ever, a first look at her Met Gala dress, random pics of her dog, and photos of her leg bandaged after she suffered what she called a “really nice second degree burn.”

Cher stars in new M·A·C campaign “Challenge Accepted”

Cher has teamed with a brand that’s almost as iconic as she is — M·A·C cosmetics — for its new campaign, “Challenge Accepted.” It invites users to put their makeup to the test, showing how it goes “above and beyond the call of beauty” — and then share the results by using the hashtag #macchallengeaccepted.

In a statement, Cher says, “I’ve been saying Challenge Accepted for a Millennium.” She adds, “I was always stubborn. Later, that stubbornness turned into my mantra…’I DON’T BELIEVE THE WORD ’NO.'”

“No matter what happened, I never gave up,” she continues. “I couldn’t let it matter what people thought. I took risks because…what else do you do? I was like a bumper car: when I hit a wall I just backed up and turned around.”

I was always Cher but didn’t have the luxury of make-up at [age] four. Now I have M·A·C,” she adds on Instagram.

Rapper Saweetie is also part of the campaign. In a video — set to Cher’s 1979 disco hit “Take Me Home” — she asks the legendary star, “How did you do it?” To which Cher replies, “I’m like this lipstick. When I’m on, I’m on.”

At the end of the video, Cher says, “I love lasting forever.” Just like M·A·C makeup, presumably.

Cher and Saweetie bonded during the shoot: The former tells People, “I [had] never met her [before], but I saw a video, and I liked her essence. We got along really well. Now she comes to dinner!”

Cher also tells People that these days when she wants to get glam, she’ll go for “big eyelashes.” As for those who want to mimic her iconic looks, she advises, “I think a little bit less is more, because sometimes you can shoot for it and shoot past it.”

New York looking into COVID-19 hospitalizations that began for other reasons

New York’s hospitals will be required to report a breakdown of how many COVID-19 patients were admitted due to the coronavirus and how many were admitted for other needs and only discovered they were infected during their stays.

During a COVID-19 briefing on Monday, Gov. Kathy Hochul cited anecdotal reports of as many as 50% of patients at some hospitals testing positive for the virus who were actually admitted for other reasons, such as car accidents.

“I just want to always be honest with New Yorkers about how bad this is,” Hochul said. “Yes, the sheer number of people infected are high, but I want to see whether or not the hospitalizations correlate with that.”

She continued, “And I’m anticipating to see that at least a certain percentage overall are not being treated for COVID.”

Hospitals will begin reporting their breakdowns Tuesday, but it’s unclear how soon the data will be publicly available.

Surgeon general warns next few weeks ‘will be tough’

U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy warned that COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations will continue to increase as the omicron variant rapidly spreads across the country.

“The next few weeks are going to be tough for us,” he told ABC’s “The View” on Monday. “We’re already seeing record levels of cases, and we’re seeing hospitalizations starting to tick up. We’re seeing some of our hospital systems getting strained at this point.”

Information from South Africa and the United Kingdom indicates omicron could be less severe than previous COVID-19 variants, Murthy said.

“We’re still going to see a lot of people get sick and a lot of hospitalizations, but the overall severity may end up being significantly lower,” he said.

Murthy said both South Africa and the U.K. “had a very rapid rise, but then they had a very steep fall” in cases

“I’m hoping that that’s what happens here too,” he added.

COVID outbreak in Belgian research station in Antarctica

(NEW YORK) — A research station in Antarctica is battling a COVID-19 outbreak despite being located in one of the most remote corners of the world.

Since mid-December, 16 of the 25 workers at Belgium’s Princess Elisabeth Polar Station have tested positive for the virus.

According to the French-language magazine Le Soir, the first positive COVID-19 case was confirmed on Dec. 14 in a worker who had traveled to Antarctica with a group via Belgium and South Africa.

Before arriving in South Africa, the workers were required to have a negative PCR test at least two hours prior to the flight. The employees then had to quarantine in South Africa for 10 days before taking another PCR test.

The group was again tested five days after arriving in Antarctica.

After the first infection was confirmed — seven days following arrival at the station — two more workers from the travel group tested positive.

The three patients were evacuated on Dec. 23, but the virus continued to spread throughout the station, according to Le Soir.

The workers had all been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with at least one having received a booster shot.

All of the cases have been mild so far, Joseph Cheek, a project manager for the International Polar Foundation, which manages the outpost, told the BBC.

There are two emergency doctors on site with equipment necessary to treat patients if their symptoms become severe.

All of the scientists at the station were given the option to evacuate but they decided to stay to continue their research, according to Cheek.

“While it has been an inconvenience to have to quarantine certain members of the staff who caught the virus, it hasn’t significantly affected our work,” he said.

According to a virologist consulted by the Belgian Polar Secretariat — which manages administrative matters for the Princess Elisabeth station — it is likely that the workers were infected with the omicron variant, which makes up 99% of all COVID cases in South Africa, Le Soir reported.

All new arrivals to the Princess Elisabeth, which is the first zero emission polar station, are suspended until further notice.

The International Polar Foundation did not immediately reply to ABC News’ request for comment.

This is not the first time that a COVID-19 outbreak has been reported in Antarctica.

In December 2020, Chile announced that 36 cases of the virus had been confirmed at its Bernardo O’Higgins research station on the Antarctic Peninsula.

Despite Antarctica’s remote location, research and military stations have taken strict measures to prevent the spread  COVID-19, including limiting the number of tourists and locking down bases.

Jimmy Fallon tested positive for COVID-19 over the holidays.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, the late-night talk show host shared the health update alongside with a picture of him isolated in a glass room.

“Hey guys, on the first day of our holiday break I tested positive for Covid,” Fallon shared, adding that he was “vaccinated and boostered” and only had “mild symptoms.”

“Thank you to the doctors and nurses who work so hard around the clock to get everyone vaxxed,” he continued. “Thank you to NBC for taking the testing protocols so seriously and doing a great job – and also thanks for putting me in the “What ‘chu talkin’ about Willis?” isolation room when they told me the news.”

When Fallon returned to The Tonight Show on Monday, he shared more details about the incident, revealing that his wife and their two daughters — Winnie, eight, and Frances, seven — traveled upstate for the Christmas holiday while he stayed put and isolated himself. However, when they too returned positive tests, Fallon called it a “Christmas Miracle” as he was able to be with them for the holidays.

“My girls tested positive as well. They’re fine, everyone is fine,” he assured. “They had the sniffles. Frannie had sniffles for like two days. Winnie had no symptoms at all. But that meant I could go home and spend the holidays with the kids, so I did.”

Eldest Trump children won’t comply with subpoenas from NY attorney general

(NEW YORK) — Former President Trump’s eldest son and daughter have refused to comply with subpoenas issued by the New York State attorney general’s office as it conducts a civil investigation into the way the family real estate business valued its holdings.

“A dispute has arisen between the OAG and the Individual Trump Parties regarding the Subpoenas,” a document filed Monday said.

The document, filed jointly by New York Attorney General Letitia James and an attorney for the Trump Organization, said Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump will now be named as respondents in James’ ongoing inquiry, which parallels a criminal investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.

“As her investigation into financial dealing of the Trump Organization continues, Attorney General James is seeking interviews under oath of Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Ivanka Trump,” a spokesperson for the AG’s office said. “Despite numerous attempts to delay our investigation by the Trump Organization, we are confident that our questions will be answered and the truth will be uncovered because no one is above the law.”

Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump sought to quash the subpoenas Monday evening in a motion.

Alan Futerfas, an attorney representing both Trump children, questioned James’ motives: her office is also involved in the criminal investigation of the Trump Organization.

“The goal of the subpoenas is all too clear: Attorney General James seeks to circumvent the entire grand jury process and nullify Moving Parties’ most fundamental constitutional and statutory rights by requesting that they provide non-immunized testimony to the OAG — when the OAG/DANY is jointly conducting a grand jury investigation,” Futerfas wrote in a motion to quash the subpoenas, which he said violate the rules of criminal procedure.

The former president and his company have denied wrongdoing and have attacked the investigation as political.

The ongoing criminal investigation has so far resulted in indictments against the Trump Organization and its longtime chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg on tax charges.

Prosecutors said the company had been paying Weisselberg’s rent, living expenses, private school tuition and car lease without proper reporting on tax returns. Both pleaded not guilty.
