Paul McCartney’s first album with Wings, ‘Wild Life,’ released 50 years ago today; vinyl reissue due in February

Today, December 7, marks the 50th anniversary of the release of Wild Life, Paul McCartney‘s first album with his backing band Wings, To mark the milestone, the record will be reissued on February 4, 2022, as a limited-edition, half-speed-mastered vinyl LP.

Wild Life was Sir Paul’s third post-Beatles album, following his 1970 solo debut, McCartney, and RAM, which was released in May 1971 and was co-credited to him and his wife, Linda.

Wild Life was recorded in just eight days at Abbey Road Studios in London, and more than half its songs were captured in just one take. No singles were released from the album, which peaked at #10 on the Billboard 200 and went on to sell over 500,000 copies in the U.S.

Joining McCartney in the original Wings lineup were Linda on keyboards and backing vocals; former Moody Blues frontman Denny Laine on guitar, bass, keyboards and backing vocals; and Denny Seiwell on drums and percussion. Seiwell also had played on RAM.

Wild Life kicks off with the quirky, upbeat rocker “Mumbo,” while other noteworthy tracks include a reggae-flavored cover of Mickey & Sylvia‘s 1956 hit “Love Is Strange,” and the melancholy ballad “Dear Friend,” which is believed to be McCartney’s attempt to reconcile with John Lennon after the conflicts the former Beatles band mates had been having around that time.

The Jonas Brothers to share intimate glimpse of their tour life in brand new mini-series

If you, like many fans of the Jonas Brothers, were dying to know what happened behind the scenes during their Remember This Tour, you’re in luck. The “Sucker” singers are coming out with a mini-series that does exactly that.

The JoBros teamed with Messenger and Instagram for the five-part special, called Moments Between the Moments, which launched Tuesday. The docuseries is meant to show fans what Kevin, Nick and Joe were up to before taking the stage and after they took their final bow during their 44-stop headlining tour.

“As some of you already know… we were doing a bit of filming during the #RememberThisTour,” the group shared on Instagram. “It’s so exciting for us to be able to share some off these off-stage moments with all of you. Thank you again for making these last few months special for us.”

Aside from providing fans an intimate glimpse of their touring lifestyle, the series comes with a few extra surprises, such as “footage from a special secret show in LA.” The mini-series will also provide a deeper look into the brothers’ aspirations and opinions about their music, career, family and other influences that impact their journey as a band. Plus, we’ll finally know how they really feel about the specific challenges 2021 presented them. In addition to predictable pandemic obstacles, for example, the JoBros grappled with other major disasters, such as “a hotdog cart almost ruining everything five minutes before their sold-out Fenway show.”

The first Moments Between the Moments episode is out now and can be viewed on the Watch Together function on Instagram, Messenger and Facebook Watch.

The fifth and final episode airs Tuesday, December 28. The JoBros will then release a concert special the following week, on Thursday, December 30.

Tame Impala schedules North American tour dates for 2022

Tame Impala has announced a North American headlining tour for 2022.

The outing will kick off March 7 in Pittsburgh, and will wrap up March 23 in Nashville. Tickets go on sale this Friday, December 10, at 10 a.m. local time.

Along with the headlining dates, Tame Impala will also be playing a number of U.S. festivals in 2022, including Innings Arizona, Okeechobee and Hangout.

In other Tame Impala news, the Kevin Parker-led outfit has unearthed a previously unreleased song called “No Choice.” The track will appear on upcoming The Slow Rush B-Sides & Remixes compilation, which will be released February 18, 2022.

The Slow Rush, Tame Impala’s most recent album, was released in 2020.

The Doors’ John Densmore celebrating release of paperback version of ‘The Seekers’ with virtual Q&A tonight

Doors drummer John Densmore recently published a paperback version of his 2020 book The Seekers: Meetings with Remarkable Musicians (and Other Artists), and to promote the new release, Densmore will take part in a Zoom Q&A event tonight at 7 p.m. ET that will be streamed live via Dice.fm.

During the event, which is presented by Rough Trade NYC, the 77-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer will chat with Jonathan Cohen, author of the 2011 New York Times best-seller Pearl Jam 20, an authorized biography of the Seattle grunge legends. Densmore also will answer questions submitted by audience members.

Tickets for the Q&A can be purchased at Dice.fm for $29.88, and the price includes a copy of The Seekers along with a bookplate signed by Densmore.

The Seekers features John’s reflections and stories about various creative people he has encountered over the years, including music legends like his late Doors band mates Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek, Janis Joplin, Van Morrison, Bob Marley, Lou Reed, Patti Smith and others. The book also includes John’s musings about his own creative journey.

Halle Berry says she burned her Razzie Award: “I set that thing on fire”

Ever wonder what celebrities do with their awards after they win them? Well, Halle Berry reveals that in the case of her Razzie Award, she burned it.

In a walk down memory lane with Vanity Fair, Berry reflected on the films she’s starred in, including 2004’s Catwoman. The gig earned her a 2005 Razzie for Worst Actress, which she says she accepted because “I feel like we all take ourselves so seriously.”

“If we get an award, if we get the Oscar, we somehow are made to feel like we’re somehow better than everybody else, but we’re really not,” she explained. “You were just chosen that year by your peers and you were acknowledged for doing what they considered stellar work.”

“So, if you find yourself face-to-face with a Razzie, does that mean you’re the worst actor there ever was? Probably not,” she continued. “You just got the p*** taken out on you that year by a group of people that can.”

As for why she decided to attend the awards ceremony, which is essentially a parody award show honoring the worst of cinematic under-achievements, she says “I decided to just take it all and just not take myself too seriously.”

“If I can show up to collect an Oscar when you’re honoring me, I can certainly show up to collect a Razzie,” the Bruised actress stated. “I always learned that if you can’t be a good loser, then you don’t deserve to be a good winner. So, I went there and made fun of myself.”

“I had a great time and then I set that thing on fire,” Berry said with a laugh. “That’s what I did.”

Bruised, starring Berry as a MMA fighter, is now playing in select theaters and on Netflix.

Today’s Olivia Rodrigo ‘Tiny Desk Concert’ will apparently take place in a DMV

Today at noon ET on NPR’s YouTube channel, you’ll be able to watch Olivia Rodrigo perform her own installment of NPR’s signature musical series, the Tiny Desk Concert. But Olivia’s concert will take place in a very meaningful location.

In a tweet promoting the event, NPR wrote, “Calling all Olivia Rodrigo-heads: Tomorrow, NPR Music will premiere the Tiny Desk (home) concert from the acclaimed singer-songwriter(!!!!!!).” A photo shows Olivia performing in what appears to be the place where she received her actual “drivers license”: her local DMV.

Football player, 16, slain in Michigan school shooting to be mourned at funeral

(OXFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich.) — Family and friends are gathering Tuesday to remember 16-year-old football player Tate Myre, who was killed one week ago in a shooting at his Michigan high school.

Myre, a junior, was one of four students killed in the Nov. 30 shooting at Oxford High School in Oxford Township. The suspected gunman and his parents have been charged.

Myre died in a patrol car while deputies were taking him from his school to a hospital, authorities said.

Myre, an honors student, was “beloved by all” and had a “bright future,” the Oxford football team said. Myre had been on the school’s varsity football team since he was a freshman, the team said.

The teen loved Christmas, his family dog and spending time with his family, friends and girlfriend, his obituary said.

The funeral begins at noon.

Sex and the City’s Chris Noth calls Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall feud “sad and uncomfortable”

Sex and the City’s Chris Noth says the alleged feud between fellow cast members Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall was “sad and uncomfortable.”

In an interview with The Guardian, published Monday, Noth was asked about Cattrall’s absence from the SATC revival, And Just Like That…, and admitted he had “absolutely no idea” why she chose not to reprise her role as Samantha Jones.

“I have to tell you, I have absolutely no idea what her thinking is, or her emotions. I do know that I’m very close with SJ and [Cattrall’s] descriptions of her don’t even come close,” he said, before adding, “I liked her, I thought she was marvelous in the show.”

“Some people move on for their own reasons,” Noth continued. “I don’t know what hers were. I just wish that whole thing had never happened because it was sad and uncomfortable.”

While it’s been known for a while that Cattrall would not return for the new SATC series, some may not know that Noth almost didn’t return, either. The actor admitted he was unsure if the infamous Mr. Big should return because he thought the character had reached its end. However, the show’s writer and director, Michael Patrick King, changed his mind.

“It was a long conversation, it continued through the pandemic and he took in a lot of my ideas and we came up with a way for me to work into it,” Noth shared.

And Just Like That… — starring SJP, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon — premieres Thursday, December 9 on HBO Max with two episodes. The remaining eight will be released each subsequent Thursday.

Alec Baldwin to make first post-shooting appearance at NYC Awards Gala

Alec Baldwin will make his first public appearance since the Rust shooting, serving as master of ceremonies for NYC’s Ripple of Hope Award Gala on Thursday.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Baldwin will attend the event in person but is skipping the red carpet interviews.

The appearance comes a week after Baldwin sat down with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos for the one-hour primetime special, Alec Baldwin Unscripted, in which he gave his account of the October 21 shooting accident on the set of the movie Rust that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Rust director Joel Souza was also wounded when Baldwin discharged a gun that he believed was safe, but that actually contained a live round, according to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office. Baldwin claimed during the ABC interview that he that he cocked the hammer but “didn’t pull the trigger” on the firearm.

The Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award, now in its 53rd year, honors “exemplary leaders across the international business, entertainment, and activist communities who have demonstrated a commitment to social change and reflect Kennedy’s passion for equality, justice, basic human rights, and his belief that each of us can make a difference.”

Jimmy Fallon taps Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion for pandemic-inspired “It Was A… (Masked Christmas)”

Jimmy Fallon is trying his hand at music again and this time he’s teamed up with mega pop star Ariana Grande and the hot girl herself, Megan Thee Stallion, for his new song, “It Was A… (Masked Christmas).”

The peppy track was released at midnight on Tuesday but before the official release, Fallon shared a bit about the song and how it came to be during The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

“It’s basically about like how last year was just rough on everybody,” he explained. “I wanted to say, ‘It’s going to get better. It really is going to get better trust me’ and how can I portray that and also think of the funny things happened.”

Well, the comedian and talk show host seemed to hit the nail right on the head when it came to the lyrics.

“It was a masked Christmas / we stayed in the house / We covered our nose and covered our mouth / But it’s Christmas time / We’ll be in line for a booster,” Fallon and Grande harmonize in the chorus.

The “Body” rapper follows with her verse that begins, “This Christmas, Imma make it count / No more quarantine on the couch / This year hang that mistletoe toe / Imma kiss everyone that I know.”

The holiday track wouldn’t be complete without an equally entertaining music video to accompany it. The visuals are the epitome of the holiday season, with scenes ranging from skiing down a mountain, to sitting in front of a fireplace with Christmas decorations all around, and, as the lyrics state, standing in line for a booster shot.

“It Was A… (Masked Christmas)” is available to stream now.
