Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy, the current band led by Emerson, Lake & Palmer drummer Carl Palmer, has announced plans to launch a second leg of its tour commemorating the legendary British prog-rock group’s 50th anniversary in 2022.

The U.S. trek will get underway with a January 27 show in Jacksonville, Florida, and is mapped out through a February 12-13 engagement at New York City’s famed jazz club The Iridium.

The first three dates of the tour — the Jacksonville gig, and shows on January 29 in Clearwater, Florida, and January 30 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida — are rescheduled concerts from 2021 that also will feature The Alan Parsons Live Project.

The new shows follow ELP Legacy’s 2021 tour leg, which took place in last month.

“Our Fall 2021 tour was first time since the pandemic hit that we were able to be together and perform,” says Palmer. “The response was remarkable and proved to us that live music was in great demand once again. The band and myself cannot wait to get out there once again for the Winter tour.”

The trek features ELP Legacy performing some of Emerson, Lake & Palmer’s most popular material along with a multimedia presentation that includes original artistic film clips and archival career-spanning footage of the famed trio. The band features Palmer joined by Paul Bielatowicz [bee-ell’-uh-TOE-vitch] on guitar and vocals,  and Simon Fitzpatrick on bass and Chapman stick.

More U.S. dates are expected to be added to the 2022 trek. The band also will be touring the U.K. in April and mainland Europe in May and June.

Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams love spoiling their two dogs, Carl and Boo, and are giving pet parents their blessing to pamper their four-legged friends on Christmas Day.

With the holiday now hours away, some pet owners may still be looking to find the perfect gift for their goodest boy or girl, and these two lovebirds have plenty of last-minute solutions.

“The things that wow dogs and pets for the holidays are lots of toys and lots of treats,” Sarah explained to ABC Audio. “Our dogs love massive bones and they love rope toys to play tug of war with.”

Wells adds there’s zero shame in “filling those stockings up with all those dog treats and toys,” too.

“The dogs don’t really know what the hell is going on. To be fair, it’s all for us, right?  Selfishly,” Wells joked, but agreed when Sarah noted that pets will get clued in that something special is happening because getting super spoiled “doesn’t happen every day!”

On the subject of using your pet to spoil yourself on Christmas, Sarah recommends dressing your pup up in cute pajamas for an ultra-special photo shoot.

“We always get the dogs dressed up in like holiday outfits and we get to take pictures with them. And those are the pictures that everyone loves the most,” Wells attested.

The two also agreed that while pampering a pet may be fun, nothing outdoes giving a homeless animal a forever home for Christmas.

“There are so many pets in need of adoption that just want love and security and a nice place to sleep in and to be able to be someone’s everything,” Sarah encouraged.

For more last-minute pet gift ideas, watch Sarah and Well’s Facebook Live holiday shopping event with Petco that’s streaming now.

The Astroworld Festival investigation is intensifying: Congress announced Wednesday it is studying the role of the event’s promoter, Live Nation, in the disaster.

ABC Houston affiliate KTRK reports that the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Reform sent a letter to Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino requesting information about the deadly November event, during which ten people died of “compression asphyxia.”

“Live Nation Entertainment was the concert promoter reportedly responsible for ‘planning, staffing, putting up money, securing permits, finding vendors, communicating with local agencies,’ for Astroworld Festival,” said the letter, signed by Representatives Carolyn B. Maloney, James Comer, Al Green, Bill Pascrell Jr.and Kevin Brady.

“This a horrifying way to die, and absolutely preventable. Their families and our community deserve answers to make sure this never happens again,” wrote Brady. “I pushed for this Congressional investigation to hold the concert promoters and organizers accountable, identify the causes, and make sure families no longer have to wonder if their child, friend or loved one will come back from a concert alive.”

In the document, the representatives questioned whether Live Nation “took adequate steps to ensure the safety of the 50,000 concertgoers who attended Astroworld Festival,” adding that reports indicate that ” security and medical staff were inexperienced or ill-equipped to deal with mass injuries.”

“Some attendees stated that the placement of barricades made it difficult to escape,” the letter continued. “Experts have stated that Astroworld Festival organizers failed to heed warning signs.”

In response, Live Nation issued  a statement saying it would “will of course share information with the Committee,” adding, “Safety is core to live events and Live Nation engages in detailed security planning in coordination with local stakeholders including law enforcement, fire and EMT professionals.”

The company reiterated that it is “heartbroken by the events at Astroworld.”

Dua Lipa is reportedly stepping into the new year as a single woman.  According to a report from People, the “Levitating” singer and her boyfriend Anwar Hadid have gone their separate ways — at least for the time being

“Dua and Anwar are currently taking a break from their relationship and are spending time apart,” a source told the outlet on Thursday.  “They’re figuring things out right now.”

No other information was available regarding the breakup or why the two decided to part ways.

Dua and Anwar, who’s the brother of models Gigi and Bella Hadid, began dating around June 2019.  Speculation that the two had split began in early November when they stopped being seen in public together, and disappeared from each other’s social media posts.

Overall, the duo’s relationship took place out of the spotlight: Dua told British Vogue earlier this year that they liked to keep their personal lives “quite private” from the rest of the world.

“We’ll only show you as much as we want you to see,” she added.  “We have all these incredible memories and experiences, and if there’s something that we want to share together, then O.K., that’s fun.”

It’s coming on Christmas, so what better time for the first official music video for Joni Mitchell‘s classic 1971 piano ballad, “River,” to make its debut?

The animated clip, which you can watch now at the legendary Canadian singer/songwriter’s YouTube channel, is basically a black-and-white watercolor painting come to life depicting a melancholy Joni as she looked in the early 1970s, alone in her home and then skating on a frozen river.

As the video nears its conclusion, the animated black-and-white icy river and snowy landscape floods with springtime colors.

At the end of the clip, a quote from Joni appears that reads, “‘River’ expresses regret at the end of a relationship…but it’s also about being lonely at Christmas time…A Christmas song for people who are lonely at Christmas! We need a song like that.”

The video was directed by Russian animator and painter Matvey Rezanov, and pays tribute to Mitchell’s own painting style.

“River” appeared on Mitchell’s acclaimed fourth studio album, Blue, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year. The song is believed to have been written about her breakup with Graham Nash.

Earlier this month, Joni, who turned 78 last month, was saluted for her lifetime achievements and artistic contributions at the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, D.C., and she will be similarly feted at the star-studded 2022 MusiCares Person of the Year gala taking place in Los Angeles on January 29.

In November, the Joni Mitchell Archives Vol. 2: The Reprise Years (1968-1971) box set was released, containing hours of unreleased home, studio and live recordings Joni made during and around the sessions for first four studio albums, including Blue.

Mariah Carey spontaneously pays McDonald’s employees a surprise visit

Mariah Carey is currently enjoying the holidays in Aspen, Colorado, but she continues to spread that Christmas cheer to those who could use a little extra.

The Grammy winner shared in a video to Instagram that shows she and her 10-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, “took an unexpected jaunt to” a local McDonald’s to get their hands on some tasty treats off her recently launched Mariah Menu.

The video starts with Monroe disguising her voice to sound like an angry old man when shout-ordering at the drive thru.  Unfortunately, the drive thru-teller wasn’t in the mood for pranks and snipped, “Ma’am, can you please just leave the store and never come back?”

As it turns out, it was a ruse to distract the employees so Mariah could sneak in through the front and surprise them. She also deployed two of her assistants to keep the cashier busy as she crept inside.

Mariah was recognized immediately — probably because she was wearing a floor-length glittering ruby dress with matching pumps and a black face mask bedazzled in rhinestones. Mariah chatted with the delighted staff and shook their hands while posing for photos.

The most adorable reaction came from the store manager, who came out to the front to see what the commotion was about and placed a hand over her chest when she realized who was standing inside her restaurant.

This “spontaneous” surprise came off the heels of Mariah celebrating her latest honor — being inducted in to Spotify’s Billions Club because her 1994 holiday smash, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” has been streamed a jaw-dropping one billion times.

Ed Sheeran is heading into 2022 with big plans, which include a major collaboration with Camila Cabello.

Speaking to BBC Radio 1, the singer revealed that he’s teaming up again with his “South of the Border” collaborator for an upcoming new single that is due out next year.  According to Yahoo!Life, the exchange happened when the radio hosts prodded Ed about his upcoming single, “The Joker and the Queen.”

When asked if he’ll be featuring Camila on the forthcoming song, the Grammy winner let slip, “No.  But, actually, we have done a song together that is going to come out next year.”  He declined to reveal what the song’s title is and when we can expect to hear it.

The news comes shortly after Camila gave Ed a sweet shout-out, saying he and Taylor Swift showed her “kindness” when she was just starting out in the music industry.

“I remember approaching Taylor Swift and being like, ‘Hey, what do you do when you’re in a writing slump?’ or whatever, asking her for advice, and she showed me a lot of kindness. Ed Sheeran too,” Camila revealed. “These were my songwriting heroes, so I was stoked that they were even talking to me.”

Ed, Camila and Cardi B collaborated on the 2019 track “South of the Border” for Ed’s No.6 Collaborations Project album.

Merry Christmas from Dan + Shay!

The duo got merry and bright on their social media feed this week, getting all dressed up in Christmas sweaters and posing with their similarly festive friends in front of a decked-out Christmas tree.

With twinkling lights in the background and stockings hanging on the mantle, the pair start singing their new holiday song, “Pick Out a Christmas Tree,” with their friends — and apparently, they’re taking requests for what to sing next.

“Going Christmas caroling with the boys tonight. If we show up at your door, what is the first song you want us to sing?” they wrote in the caption.

Dan + Shay have plenty of holiday material to choose from, as they’ve shared several original Christmas tunes over the past couple years. Among those are this year’s “Officially Christmas” and the 2020 release, “Take Me Home for Christmas.”

“Pick Out a Christmas Tree” became the most-streamed holiday song across all genres in the U.S. after it came out this holiday season.
