Tessa Thompson looks very much the Queen of Asgard in jacked ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ dressing-room photo

At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor steps aside as King of Asgard, leaving things in the capable hands of Tessa Thompson‘s Valkyrie.

But with a new mirror selfie snap from Thompson’s dressing room on the set of the upcoming four-quel Thor: Love and Thunder, fans can see it’s more than her hands that are capable.

Tessa’s pic shows her in a costume similar to Thor’s Avengers-era armor: It’s sleeveless, all the better to show off the actress’ jacked arms. Thompson looks lean and mean: Her hair is long and braided, featuring a faux-hawk-style top-knot, and blue-colored tips. Aside from her upper body armor, she’s rocking leather pants and what appears to be an Asgardian-armored loincloth.

In short, the look is pretty darned fierce.

Incidentally, an earlier set snap spied Thompson’s photo in a makeup room for the upcoming sequel The Marvels, giving away the character’s likely appearance in that film, too, along with returning Captain Marvel co-star Lashana Lynch, recently seen in the James Bond movie No Time to Die.

Written and directed by Thor: Ragnarok‘s Taika Waititi — with whom Thompson has been romantically linked — Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters July 8.

The movie will also star Hemsworth and his Thor series flame Natalie Portman, as well as Christian Bale, returning Ragnarok player Jeff Goldblum and Ragnarok cameo stars Matt Damon, Sam Neill and Luke Hemsworth. Chris Pratt and his Guardians of the Galaxy pals Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff and Sean Gunn will also appear, as will Russell Crowe.

The Marvels, also starring Brie Larson, is slated for a February 2023 opening.

Marvel Studios is owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.

Report: COVID-19 to delay Grammy Awards

The 64th annual Grammy Awards may be moving to a new date following a surge in COVID-19 cases due to the Omicron variant. The ceremony, which will be hosted by Trevor Noah, is scheduled to take place on January 31 at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena.

Billboard reports that the Recording Academy is seriously considering postponing the show, with a source with direct knowledge telling the outlet it is “looking likely” it will happen.

Should the Academy move the date, this will mark the second year in a row the Grammy Awards had to change its schedule. Last year, the ceremony was moved from January 31 to March 14 because of 2021’s winter surge in coronavirus cases.

It’s unknown when or if this year’s ceremony will also move to the spring; as of Monday afternoon, the Academy has not returned an ABC News request for comment. Should the Grammy Awards be postponed this year, the Academy’s MusiCares gala and the Pre-Grammy Gala, which are respectively set for January 29 and 30th, will likely also be rescheduled.

Currently, federal data reports more than 100,000 people are hospitalized in the U.S. for COVID-19. Johns Hopkins University reports that new, daily infections in the U.S. also reached an all-time high on Friday after 386,000 people tested positive for the virus.

David Lee Roth canceled two Las Vegas shows over the weekend because of “circumstances related to COVID”

The first two shows of David Lee Roth‘s previously announced Las Vegas residency at the House of Blues — which were scheduled to take place on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day — were canceled because of COVID-19-related issues, ABC’s Las Vegas affiliate KTNV reports.

A press release sent to the station explained that the concerts, which were both sold out, were canceled “[d]ue to unforeseen circumstances related to COVID and out of an abundance of caution for those working and attending the shows.”

Refunds were automatically sent to ticket holders.

The Van Halen frontman still has seven concerts scheduled as part of the engagement, which Roth announced in an October 2021 interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal would be his farewell performances. The upcoming shows are scheduled for January 5, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22.

“I am throwing in the shoes. I’m retiring,” Roth, who’s 67, said in the interview. “This is the first, and only, official announcement.”

David initially scheduled five Vegas concerts, but added the shows on January 14, 15, 21 and 22 because of “popular demand.”

“I just want to be better”: Thomas Rhett reflects on goals for 2022

Thomas Rhett is stepping into the new year with a positive mindset.

On Sunday, the hitmaker took to his Instagram Stories to reflect on the past two years and share his hopes for 2022. Thomas begins the lengthy post by addressing that 2020 and 2021 were some of the “weirdest, most challenging years of my life,” while also acknowledging his personal growth, particularly in his faith and being more present.

“I’ve learned how to truly be where my feet are and to genuinely cherish the little moments and celebrate the incredible moments,” he shares.

The singer, who rang in the new year with a performance in Minnesota, where he was accompanied by his family, says that his focus for this year is to be “better” in all areas of his life.

“As I look ahead into this upcoming year I just wanna be better. A better husband, better dad, better friend, better songwriter, better entertainer haha,” he continues. “I hope this year is incredible for all of you. Thank you for loving and supporting me and my family for so long. Happy new year everyone. God bless!”

Thomas is already coming into 2022 with another potential hit on his hands as his current single, “Slow Down Summer,” is in the top 30 on country radio.

New Year’s Eve parties: Diddy, Kanye West, and Future in Miami; Meek Mill & Lil Baby in St. Barts

COVID-19 forced Diddy to cancel his annual New Year’s Eve party in Miami, but the Bad Boy Entertainment owner still celebrated at a star-studded event.

Diddy was joined by Kanye West, Future, Busta Rhymes, Quavo, French Montana and more at the Game Changer Lounge in South Beach, according to HotNewHipHop.com. Kanye made the trip to Miami from Belize, where he was vacationing with Rap-A-Lot-Records CEO J. Prince and former Bad Boy rapper Shyne Barrow, who is now a member of the House of Representatives in his native Belize.

While several stars partied in Miami, Meek Mill brought in 2022 in the Caribbean on the island of St. Barts. He was joined by Lil Baby, and performed for him and several friends on a yacht on New Year’s Eve.

Katy Perry celebrates “Soberuary” with line of nonalcoholic drinks

Katy Perry is helping her fans ring in a healthy new year with a brand-new line of nonalcoholic beverages, called De Soi.

The “Roar” hitmaker unveiled her new venture on Monday, which she launched alongside collaborator and master distiller Morgan McLachlan.

“Just in time for SOBERUARY,” Katy tweeted, and also shared a photo of her holding up a bunch of grapes. “Excited to announce @drinkdesoi a line of sparkling nonalcoholic aperitifs I’ve created.”

“Our apéritifs are full of feel-good adaptogens for a drink that helps you create, relax & ease into the night,” she continued. In a follow up tweet, Katy listed all the flavors her fans can try:”They come in three fun flavors: Golden Hour with citrus & lemongrass, Champignon Dreams with strawberries & grapefruit, and Purple Lune with blackberry nectar, vanilla oak & rose petals.”

‘The Bachelor’, by the numbers, and for the right reasons

With the 26th season of The Bachelor kicking off on ABC tonight with Clayton Echard looking for love, any fan can tell you their favorite TV guilty pleasure has its share of clichés, from contestants to catchphrases.

With that in mind — and of course, “for the right reasons” — Express VPN dove deep into the series to pluck out some key data points.

The analysis shows “my person” was the most-used phrase over the past 12 seasons, repeated by various contestants and would-be Bachelors 68 times. Close behind is that classic Bachelor utterance “for the right reasons,” which clocked in at 65 times.

“Head over heels” was repeated 43 times, followed by “falling for you” at 40. And although it sure seems like far more, “can I steal you?” was uttered 27 times.

While The Bachelor has seen hopefuls who have ranged from a mortician, to a Radio City Rockette, to a self-described “free spirit” — is that even a job? — ‘teacher’ ranked as the most common occupation of the show’s contestants. ‘Realtor’ came in second, followed by ‘nurse,’ ‘model’ and ‘student’.

According to Google search data relative to population size, Minnesota has the greatest number of Bachelor fans in the country, followed by Utah and Iowa.

Also according to the analysis, there’s an average 4.8-year age difference between each season’s Bachelors and their hopefuls. Of the married heterosexual couples in the U.S. who didn’t find their spouse on a reality show, the age gap is on average 2.3 years between men and women.

The average length of a relationship from The Bachelor‘s finale was 3 months, 6 days, Express VPN’s analysis shows. The exception is Sean and Catherine from season 17; they tied the knot and remain married to this day.

Both Arie and Becca from Season 22, and Peter and Hannah from season 24 broke up after just one day.

Fozzy introduces new drummer following departure of original member Frank Fontsere

Fozzy is kicking off 2022 with an updated lineup.

The “Judas” rockers have announced that they have a new drummer: Grant Brooks of the band Through Fire. Brooks takes the place of original Fozzy drummer Frank Fontsere, who’s leaving the band to “focus on his family and other projects.”

“We are stoked to unleash the pure energy and talent that Grant brings to the band and we are ready to EXPLODE in 2022,” Fozzy says.

The band adds that they “wish [Fontsere] nothing but the best and thank him for his years of maximum rock.” Fontsere joined Fozzy when they were founded in 1999, and has played on all of their albums.

Fozzy’s 2022 plans include the release of their new album, Boombox, which is due out April 15.

Halsey quietly releases extended edition of ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power’

Halsey is treating fans to one last post-holiday present — a surprise, expanded edition of their Grammy nominated If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power album that is out now.

This new version comes with three several extra tracks, including two versions of their 2019 hit “Nightmare” and an updated version of “People Disappear Here.” The latter bonus track was previously exclusive to the Target edition of IICHLIWP, while “Nightmare” was only available on albums sold at Walmart.

The expanded album is now available to stream and purchase everywhere.

This is the latest update of Halsey’s fourth studio album. Last month, they released a new video for “Honey,” which depicts the Grammy-nominee being covered in the golden liquid as they belt out the track.

IICHLIWP was released on August 27, 2021 and has since been nominated for Best Alternative Music Album at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards.

Liam Gallagher shares New Year’s message for Noel: “Cheer up you billionaire”

Anyone holding out hope for an Oasis reunion in 2022 had that dream dashed mere hours into the New Year.

On the morning of January 1, Noel Gallagher shared a demo of a new song called “Trying to Find a World That’s Been and Gone: Part 1.” The track apparently found its way to the ears of Liam Gallagher, who decided to share his review of his estranged brother and former band mate’s latest offering.

You can probably see where this is going: Liam’s six-word analysis read, “Miserable a**e cheer up you billionaire.”

Noel did not respond to Liam’s jab, though it appears Liam will have the opportunity to review a few more songs this year. Along with the new recording, Noel shared that he’d “just finished writing/demoing” for the next album with his High Flying Birds solo project.

Liam, meanwhile, is set to release his third solo effort, titled C’mon You Know, on May 27.
