(NEW YORK) — A nor’easter is pummeling New Jersey and the New York City area, drenching roadways with up to 4 inches of rain.
Flash flooding was reported early Tuesday in the Metuchen, New Jersey, area, prompting a flash flood warning. Water rescues were reported in New Jersey from Union Beach to Middletown.
The bulk of the heaviest rain and flooding will shift Tuesday morning to New York City, Long Island and Connecticut.
The governors of New York and New Jersey declared states of emergency.
Flood and wind alerts have been issued from North Carolina to Maine.
The nor’easter is expected to sit off the coast all day Tuesday and strengthen, blowing gusty winds to the coastline, including in major cities like New York City and Boston.
Damaging winds gusting to 40 to 60 mph are possible Tuesday night in the Northeast.
Adele is returning to the concert stage…next year.
The superstar has announced two shows in London’s Hyde Park for 2022, on July 1 and 2. Fans who want first crack at the tickets can sign up at her website now for the presale, which starts Thursday, October 28 at 5am EST. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Saturday at 5 am EST.
Meanwhile, Adele did a bit of a warmup for what will hopefully be even more live performances: On Sunday, she filmed the concert portion of her upcoming CBS special Adele One Night Only, Page Six reports. A source shared that the performance, which was held at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, consisted of four songs, including “Easy On Me.”
“[The] songs [were] about being yourself and not caring,” the source added, noting that Adele sang songs that “she’s never done live before.”
An insider revealed that Adele performed in front of a 300-person audience which included Oprah — who’ll be interviewing Adele for the special — as well as Drake, Kris Jenner, Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi, Lizzo, James Corden, Sarah Paulson, Gordon Ramsay and Gayle King. Adele’s ex-husband, Simon Konecki, and their nine-year-old son, Angelo, were also present.
Adele One Night Only is set to air Sunday, November 14, followed by the release of her highly anticipated fourth studio album, 30, on November 19.
When it comes to sponsored posts, celebrities can leverage their popularity for a hefty paycheck. Hopper HQ has estimated just how much that adds up to and published the top results on their Instagram Rich List.
For 2021, it appears Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who ranked atop the list for 2020, has been dethroned from the top spot — and not by Kylie Jenner, who previously trailed right behind him.
This year the top spot goes to the U.K.’s Manchester United soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, who can pull in an estimated $1,604,000 for a sponsored post shared with his nearly 296 million Instagram followers.
Johnson didn’t fall too far down the list as a result of Ronaldo’s rise, though — he’s now number two, while Jenner has fallen to number four. Ariana Grande holds the third spot.
Other celebrities who appear in the top 10 are Kim Kardashian, Selena Gomez and Beyoncé.
(WASHINGTON) — An advisory panel at the Food and Drug Administration will vote Tuesday on whether to move forward with authorizing vaccines for children ages 5-11.
The vote will be the first step in a regulatory process for the two-shot Pfizer vaccine for kids. If the panel votes in favor of the vaccine after reviewing Pfizer’s data from clinical trials, the process will move to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
If both agencies support the data, kids could be able to get their first shots in early November.
“If all goes well, and we get the regulatory approval, and the recommendations from the CDC, it’s entirely possible, if not, very likely, that vaccines will be available for children from 5 to 11 within the first week or two of November,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, chief medical adviser for the White House, said in an interview on Sunday on ABC’s This Week.
Many parents are desperate to protect their children after the delta surge over the summer led to increased cases and hospitalizations among kids. Though the variant is not more deadly, it is more transmissible — and because kids are unvaccinated, the variant rocketed through schools and camps.
The most recent data from Pfizer’s clinical trials found that the vaccine for 5-11 year olds was nearly 91% effective against symptomatic illness.
The vaccine also appeared safe. None of the children in the clinical trials experienced a rare heart inflammation side effect known as myocarditis, which has been associated with the mRNA vaccines in very rare cases, mostly among young men.
The Pfizer vaccine, if authorized for kids, will be given at a smaller, one-third dose.
The White House has purchased enough pediatric doses to vaccine all 28 million children ages 5 to 11. If authorized, it will be distributed to thousands of sites, including pediatricians, family doctors, hospitals, health clinics and pharmacies enrolled in a federal program that guarantees the shots are provided for free.
Some states are planning to provide the vaccine through schools as well.
The 5-11 age group would be the youngest and latest to receive eligibility. The Pfizer vaccine has already been authorized for adolescents 12 and up, and everyone 18 and older is eligible for all three vaccines, Pfizer, Moderna and J&J.
Whether parents will embrace the vaccines for their kids is still a question. In a September poll, the Kaiser Family Foundation found that about a third of parents with kids ages 5-11 were willing to vaccinate their kids right away, while another third wanted to “wait and see.” The figures represented a slight uptick in vaccine acceptance among parents of elementary-school-aged kids since July.
Although children are less likely to die of COVID-19 than older adults, pediatricians say there is still an urgent need for a safe vaccine for children. Children can still become very sick and spread the virus to others. So far, more than 6 million children have tested positive in the United States, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Trials for children 2 years and up, the next age group that could become eligible, are ongoing. Data from the clinical trials is expected sometime this winter.
The former host of The Bachelor handed out his final rose to the Entertainment Tonight host and producer over the weekend at a winery in Napa Valley, California.
The newly engaged couple announced the happy news on social media on Monday, with them each sharing snapshots of the moment Harrison got down on one knee.
“I love you @laurenzima The next chapter starts now!” Harrison, 50, declared in his caption.
Meanwhile, Zima, 33, gushed, “We tell each other this all the time, and we said it again in an unforgettably beautiful moment this weekend: I didn’t know love could be like this. You are the most incredible partner. Thank you for loving me, championing me and asking me to marry you. Here’s to the next amazing chapter, and all the rest.”
This will be the second marriage for both of the lovebirds. Harrison has two children from his previous marriage.
Episode two of the new ABC Drama Queens premieres tonight, and it was a particularly difficult one for series star Naturi Naughton.
We found out in the first episode that Naughton’s character, Jill, is living a double life — hiding the fact that she’s gay from her friends and family, and she tells ABC Audio that getting comfortable in Jill’s skin was “a little scary at first.”
“It’s not my real experience,” she explains, “and I always want to be as authentic as possible.”
That led the 37-year-old singer, songwriter actress to do some research.
“I’ve even talked to a few friends and people who’ve actually lived that,” she says. “The journey that I’ve kind of decided to tap into is that she really is trying to assert something that she has suppressed for so many years because of the hip hop background, because of her religious backgrounds.”
It’s rare to see a gay woman of color in a lead role on a Network TV show — even in this day and age — and Naturi hopes that representation helps.
“There’s so much pressure on Jill and one thing that I hope my character inspires people is to release that pressure. To release that worry about what people may think,” Naughton offers. “And that’s actually what my character deals with constantly. But also don’t take on too much at once. Like, say your truth and it’s OK if you’re not perfect. It’s OK if you’re not the spokesperson for the entire movement.”
Britney Spears left another strongly-worded message to her family, telling them that she has not forgotten how their actions hurt her over the course of her 13-year conservatorship.
On Monday night, the “Toxic” singer took to Instagram to unload on her relatives and appeared to follow up on the comments she made during her bombshell June 23 testimony about wanting to sue her family.
Spears, 39, spoke about how she used to “jump through hoops” to connect with her loved ones before claiming she finds it “weird” she’s the only one putting in the effort.
“It’s humiliating and it’s like every person I’ve ever opened to immediately says they’ll be gone on a trip for two weeks after … OK I get it … they’re only available to me when it’s convenient for them,” she wrote. “Well I’m no longer available to any of them now.”
Spears, while adding she doesn’t “mind being alone,” closed with a stern warning “to my family … for hurting me deeper than you’ll ever know.”
“I know the conservatorship is about to be over but I still want justice !!! I’m only 5’4″ and I’ve played the bigger person my entire life … do you know how hard that is ???,” the Grammy winner remarked.
During Britney’s bombshell testimony in June, she told Judge Brenda Penny, “I would honestly like to sue my family, to be totally honest with you. I also would like to be able to share my story with the world, and what they did to me, instead of it being a hush-hush secret to benefit all of them.”
Britney also previously had expressed, “Lord have mercy on my family’s souls if I ever do an interview !!!”
The next hearing, set for November 12, will focus on terminating the conservatorship itself.

Bruce Springsteen paid a visit to CBS’ The Late Show on Wednesday, where he discussed, among other things, Renegades: Born in the USA, the book Bruce co-authored with former president Barack Obama coming out on Tuesday; and The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts, a film and album documenting Springsteen’s performances with the E Street Band at the historic MUSE benefit concerts at New York’s Madison Square Garden, being released in various formats in November.
When asked how how he came to write the book with Obama, Springsteen told host Stephen Colbert, “It was the president’s idea. He called me. I thought he had the wrong number, because he’s a Columbia graduate, teacher of constitutional law, University of Chicago Law School, first African-American president of the United States,”
On the other hand, joked Springsteen, “I am a guitar player, I am a Freehold High school graduate.”
After playing a throwback clip of Bruce’s high energy performance from 1979, the Boss recalled it took place on his 30th birthday. When asked to compare that 30-year-old guy with the now 72-year-old version, he offered, “Well, it’s funny, on stage I don’t know if there’s a lot of difference… we still come out, and we take it all the way every night that we’re on stage. So, I mean, that’s a completely different person.”
Added Springsteen, “At 30, I was still a kid, and that was my entire life, what you’re viewing right there, you know…So that was different. But basically, I still feel about it the way that kid would have. That hasn’t changed at all.”
Springsteen closed out the show with a live acoustic performance of the title track from his 1979 album, The River.
With Halloween just days away, the Dancing with the Stars cast brought the thrills and chills for Horror Night, which celebrated the scariest movies and TV shows of all time.
Despite making a strong comeback last week, Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kenya Moore took her final bow on the ballroom after being sent into the bottom two against gymnast Suni Lee. The judges, while disappointed by the audience vote, decided unanimously to save the Olympian.
And while the night was full of goosebump-worthy moments, there was one person who blew the competition away — NBA legend Iman Shumpert. He collected his first perfect score of the season following his remarkable contemporary honoring the 2019 horror movie Us. The powerful routine, which featured a series of complicated stunts that tested the athlete’s strength, did more than bring the room to its feet. Fellow competitor Jimmie Allen was noticeably standing on his chair during the thunderous applause and judge Derek Hough let off a howl as he jumped onto the judges’ table.
Also collecting a perfect score was Nickelodeon star JoJo Siwa, whose It-inspired jazz borrowed and blended elements from ballet, contemporary and acrobatics. The judges not only praised the routine’s complexity, they also saluted the hair and makeup team for transforming the lovable personality into an ultra-creepy Pennywise the Dancing Clown.
On the other hand, The Office star Melora Hardin now finds herself in danger of being sent home after finishing the night on the bottom of the scoreboard after the judges warned they found her jive to be a little too safe.
Dancing with the Stars will salute the music of Queen when it returns next Monday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
Here are the current standings:
Iman Shumpert, NBA player, with Daniella Karagach — 40/40
JoJo Siwa, Nickelodeon star, with Jenna Johnson — 40/40
