Amy Schumer says her “queen” Kirsten Dunst was in on Oscars “seat filler” joke

While it went unnoticed by some in the wake of the “slap heard ’round the world,” some fans of Kirsten Dunst took issue with an Oscars moment in which co-host Amy Schumer referred to the nominated actress as a “seat filler.”

The bit had Schumer pulling Dunst from her seat and sitting in it next to The Power of the Dog nominee Jesse Plemons.

“You know that’s my wife, Amy,” Plemmons protested.

“You’re married to that seat filler?” Schumer said. “Oh, that’s weird.”

Dunst stans can relax, however: Schumer responded to the online backlash with an Instagram post explaining, “That was a choreographed bit she was in on,” adding, “Wouldn’t disrespect that queen like that.”

Plemons and Dunst were apparently so convincing — hey, they were both Oscar-nominated for the same film, after all — that fans cried foul.

New footage uncovered of trans woman missing in FL

(NORTH BAY VILLAGE, Fla.) — Joao “Julia” da Silva, a 23-year-old trans woman, has been missing since Thursday, March 24, when she was last seen by family members leaving her residence in North Bay Village, Florida.

Authorities say da Silva frequents the Miami, Miami Beach, and Wilton Manors LGBTQ communities. She was last seen in newly uncovered video surveillance at a gas station on Monday night in the South Miami area near Homestead.

“With this video footage, what concerns us is that she did appear disoriented,” said Paul Battaglia, the LGBT liaison officer at the North Bay Village Police Department. “She also did appear alone, which is unusual for her.”

She was wearing a black tank top, skirt, and pearl necklace with curly hair when she was last seen.

Transgender people are over four times more likely than cisgender people to be victims of violence, according to a study by the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law.

The department says they are taking the heightened risks against this population into account.

“We understand the statistics. They’re are at a higher probability for violence, self-harm,” Battaglia said. “So we did ask those pertinent questions at the initial intake. She does not suffer from any previous mental health history, no depression, no self-harm, because that’s very important to us.”

The investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information on Da Silva’s whereabouts, the North Bay Village Police Department urges them to reach out.

“That’s all we want, to make sure she is okay,” her best friend, Tatiana, told ABC-affiliate WPLG. They also reported that da Silva’s mother is flying in from Japan to help in the search.

Jungkook is the final member of BTS to test positive for COVID-19, tells fans he’s doing okay

Jungkook has tested positive for COVID-19, becoming the final member of BTS to contract the virus. J-Hope, V, RM, Jin, Jimin and Suga all previously tested positive for COVID-19.

NME obtained a statement from the band’s label, BigHit Music, that confirmed Jungkook’s diagnosis. The singer had tested negative for the virus when departing South Korea for Las Vegas on March 27. Jungkook then began experiencing discomfort in his throat and took a PCR and rapid test that returned positive results.

According to the statement, “Jungkook has been currently under self-quarantine and treatment, following the guidelines of health authorities in the United States. He is not exhibiting any symptoms other than a mild sore throat, and we will attentively monitor his health during the quarantine.”

It’s unknown if Jungkook will miss Sunday’s Grammy Awards. BTS is not only nominated for an award, but they are slated to perform, as well.

In addition, it is unclear if Jungkook’s illness means he will miss the sold-out Permission to Dance On Stage — Las Vegas concert series that runs April 8 to April 16. BigHit says his participation for both events “will be determined by the local COVID-19 regulations.”

“We would like to extend our sincerest apologies to our fans for causing you concern despite our effort to take all necessary measures for our artists’ health prior to and throughout the schedule in the United States,” the statement continued.

Jungkook also took to his Instagram stories on Tuesday and told fans in Korean that he is doing okay and that his symptoms are mild.

Kelsea Ballerini opens up about therapy: “Your mental health matters”

Kelsea Ballerini is getting real about mental health.

The singer took to Instagram for a “therapy appreciation post,” sharing her experience of how talking things out in a safe space has helped her process her emotions.

“My brain is currently a mix of the little kid version of me that is freaking out how cool life is and sees silver linings in rain clouds and the practical adult that is terrified because what goes up must come down and life always proves it,” she expresses in the post, alongside a photo of herself softly smiling in the sun. “The tug of war keeps me from being present. From feeling it all. That’s what i’m workin on right now.”

The “Half of My Hometown” singer concludes the post with a note of encouragement, checking in on her fans while reminding them that “your mental health matters.”

Kelsea hasn’t been shy about her mental health issues in the past, sharing that she has anxiety and has been in therapy off and on throughout her life.

Scorpions’ ‘Blackout’ album was released 40 years ago today; Klaus Meine recalls No One Like You” video shoot

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the release of The Scorpions‘ eighth studio album, Blackout, which saw the German rockers achieve their first significant chart success in the U.S.

The album peaked at #10 on the Billboard 200, and featured the melodic rock anthem “No One Like You,” whose popularity was propelled by a memorable music video that went into heavy rotation on MTV.

Much of the clip was filmed during an overnight shoot at the site of the infamous former prison on Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay. It included a scene where frontman Klaus Meine is strapped into a prop electric chair.

Meine tells ABC Audio that the experience of filming the video on Alcatraz “was fantastic.”

“It was a little spooky,” the singer recalls. “When you went outside, the whole bay, it was very foggy…and it was pretty cold. And we went to different places inside the prison.”

Meine also remembers that the electric chair that had been brought to island for the shoot became quite popular with the tourists who began arriving the next morning.

“I remember the first boat arrived with some Japanese tourists,” Klaus recalls, “and when they spotted the electric chair, they were lining up, taking pictures of [it], thinking Al Capone was grilled there or whatever.”

Blackout went on to be certified Platinum by the RIAA for sales of 1 million in the U.S.

The Scorpions’ popularity in the wake of Blackout‘s success led to the band getting a slot at the 1983 US Festival’s “Heavy Metal Day,” just before headliners Van Halen.

Meine says the band, performing in front of a crowd of over 300,000 people in California’s San Bernardino Valley, “played one of the best shows in our life.”

After a series of movie theater fly-bys, Top Gun: Maverick is finally coming in for a landing May 27, and Paramount Pictures has just debuted a new trailer to trigger your need for speed.

The pandemic-delayed movie once again sees Tom Cruise‘s Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in the cockpit, this time tasked with training a slate of young, hotshot pilots. “I’m not a teacher,” Maverick protests to a superior officer, played by Jon Hamm.

The request for Maverick to instruct the fliers was given by none other than Admiral Tom Kazansky — whom fans know as Val Kilmer‘s Iceman from the first film, and who has apparently advanced up the chain of command.

Maverick, meanwhile, remains a captain, partly because more medals on his chest means he’d lose his cockpit time.

“Everyone in this room is the best there is. Who the hell are they gonna get to teach us?” asks Monica Barbero, playing “Phoenix.”

Maverick’s introduction to his cadre of students comes as he shocks them by shooting vertically up through their formation. “Good morning, aviators,” he teases from his F-18 Super Hornet. “This is your captain speaking.”

Apparently, Maverick’s training is needed before the fliers face a dangerous mission.

One of his students is Miles Teller, playing “Rooster,” the son of Anthony Edwards‘ Nick “Goose” Bradshaw, whose death in the first film haunted Maverick. “My dad believed in you. I’m not gonna make the same mistake,” he sneers.

Also appearing in the sneak peek is Oscar winner Jennifer Connolly, who plays Penny Benjamin, referenced as an admiral’s daughter and an off-camera fling in the first film.

Top Gun wowed audiences with its aerial camerawork, and the new trailer teases that the long-awaited follow-up also will not disappoint.

Justin Bieber’s “Ghost” haunts the top five, gives him another chart milestone

Justin Bieber’s “Ghost” has materialized into another Billboard chart milestone for the star.

The song has just climbed to a new peak of number five on the Billboard Hot 100. It’s Justin’s 20th top-five hit of his career — only nine other acts in history have scored that many top fives.

Justin now has had as many top five hits as Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. The only acts who’ve had more are Elvis Presley, Rihanna, Janet Jackson, Drake, Mariah Carey, Madonna and The Beatles.

But wait, that’s not all. Justin’s song “Stay” with The Kid LAROI is currently number two on the Hot 100, making Justin the first artist to have two songs in the top five in more than six months. The last one to do that was fellow Canadian star Drake, in September of 2021.

Elton John announces final North American tour dates, including his 2,000th U.S. concert

If it seems like Elton John announced his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour years ago, it’s because he did: It was January 2018. But now, he’s reached the end of the road — in North America, anyway.

Elton’s just announced 11 North American stadium dates that will include the actual, very last, we promise, U.S. and Canadian shows of the tour. He’ll say goodbye to the continent on November 20 at LA’s Dodger Stadium — the site of one of his most iconic career concerts — and it’ll mark his landmark 2,000th U.S. concert in a 52-year career of touring. When the tour ends, Elton will have played in all 50 states.

Tickets for the 11 dates go on sale Wednesday, April 6 at 10 a.m. local time via EltonJohn.com. Members of his Rocket Fan Club have access to a pre-sale this Friday.

In a statement, Elton says, “Thank you for sharing this journey with me. I cherish these memories we’re making together. It has been nothing short of incredible and I look forward to seeing you very soon one last time, on my Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.”

The tour won’t actually finish until sometime in 2023, which is when Elton will perform in Australia, New Zealand and Europe.

Late-night hosts react to Will Smith slapping Chis Rock at the Oscars

Late-night hosts had a field day addressing the “slap heard around the world,” using their opening to lay into Will Smith for slapping Chris Rock at Sunday night’s Academy Awards over a joke the comedian made about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

“Welcome one and all to The Late Show,” host Stephen Colbert began. “It’s Monday, unless you’re Chris Rock, because I’m pretty sure he got slapped into next week.”

“That’s the worst thing Will Smith has ever done. Wait, I forgot about Wild, Wild West,” the host of CBS’ late-night talker added.

“It’s now a part of our lives forever. We will never stop talking about this,” said Jimmy Kimmel, host of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!. “Even Kanye [West] was like, ‘You went on stage and did what at an awards show?’”

Kimmel, a two-time Oscar host, went on to praise Rock’s handling of the situation, noting he “didn’t even flinch. I would’ve been crying so hard.”

“No one did anything. Nobody lifted a finger. Spider-Man was there. Aquaman was there. Catwoman, all sitting on their hands. Nobody helped Chris Rock,” he joked.

Jimmy Fallon, host of NBC’s The Tonight Show, chose a more subtle approach, not mentioning Smith and Rock by name. Instead he quipped, “America may be divided, but it was kind of nice for us to come together to say ‘holy crap’ at the same time.”

“The 94th Academy Awards were held last night and featured the first live performance of ‘We Don’t Talk about Bruno’ from the Disney musical Encanto, followed by an unbelievable live performance of ‘We don’t Talk about Jada,'” Seth Meyers joked in his Late Night monologue, while The Late Late Show‘s James Corden expressed the same sentiment in a musical number that warned his joke writers, “We don’t talk about Jada.”

Aaron Sorkin is re-teaming with his To Kill a Mockingbird partner Bartlett Sher for a theater revival of the Lerner & Leowe musical classic Camelot. Lincoln Center Theater, in a statement on Monday, described the production as “a new version of the classic tale… reimagined for the 21st century.” Camelot, based on T.H. White’s 1958 novel The Once and Future King, itself based on the legend of King Arthur, features the memorable songs “If Ever I Would Leave You,” “What Do the Simple Folk Do?” and the title song. The musical was first staged in 1960, starring Julie Andrews and Robert Goulet. A 1967 film version starred Richard Harris and Vanessa Redgrave.
