Maren Morris says the COVID-19 pandemic helped shape her perspective on her place in country music.

In an interview with PitchforkMaren reveals that she was “relieved” her RSVP: The Tour got cancelled due to the pandemic in 2020 and 2021. She says the forced downtime allowed her to put life, and how she creates, into perspective.

“That perpetual growing insecurity of knowing my place in country music,” she replies in response to what she’s stopped worrying about since the onset of the pandemic. “Even though I’ve been successful over the years, I still feel like this middle child in a lot of ways. I’m not really new anymore—I’m established. I’m not country enough for the super-country folks, and I’m too country for the pop folks. But I was forced to stop for two years and think about, like, ‘who gives a f**?'”

Maren says the challenging experience of the pandemic also taught her to not take herself “so seriously,” a mindset that influenced her new album, Humble Quest.

“That’s why this album is titled the way it is. All my plans, all the things that I mapped out—even my pregnancy—it’s just so idiotic to think that I could snap back in two months and go tour again,” she continues. “I realized I’m not in control. It sounds cliché but I’ve taken stock of the things I actually care about. Motherhood sharpened a lot of that for me. Not having a crowd every night sharpened that for me.”

Maren will return to the road when the Humble Quest Tour launches in June.

Late season cold front is ending in the Northeast today

Late season cold front is ending in the Northeast today
Late season cold front is ending in the Northeast today
ABC News

(NEW YORK) — A cold blast continued through Tuesday morning in the Northeast and eastern Great Lakes as the late season arctic air mass moved through the region with the wind chill hovering in the teens and singles digits. This airmass was so unseasonably cold for this time of the year that on Monday there were dozens of record cold high temperatures from New York City to Boston.

The arctic air mass sparked very intense lake effect snow squalls reducing visibility to less than a quarter of a mile with gusty winds and whiteout conditions. Some areas in western Pennsylvania and New York got 10 to 12 inches of snow from the lake effect snow.

Tuesday morning could potentially be the last cold morning for the Northeast, as a major warm up is expected with temperatures rebounding into the 60’s and near 70 by Thursday for most.

A new storm coming out of the West with severe weather outbreak is to be expected within the next several days across the South and into the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states. This storm already brought heavy rain and minor flooding to southern California with heavy snow to the mountains.

Severe weather begins in the Plains Tuesday night from Dallas to Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Missouri, and Des Moines, Iowa. Damaging winds will be the biggest threat for these cities but a few tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

Wednesday afternoon, the second highest risk for severe weather has been issued across the South including Alexandria, Louisiana; Jackson, Mississippi; and Memphis, Tennessee, with a possibility of strong tornadoes and damaging winds in excess of 75 mph.

Severe weather on Thursday moves into the I-95 corridor from Washington, D.C., to Philadelphia and just south of New York City, where damaging winds are expected, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

As you might have predicted, Foo Fighters‘ tour is not going forward in the wake of the shocking death of drummer Taylor Hawkins.

“It is with great sadness that Foo Fighters confirm the cancellation of all upcoming tour dates in light of the staggering loss of our brother Taylor Hawkins,” reads a statement from Dave Grohl and company.

“We’re sorry for and share in the disappointment that we won’t be seeing one another as planned,” they continue. “Instead, let’s take this time to grieve, to heal, to pull our loved ones close, and to appreciate all the music and memories we’ve made together.”

The band had a series of dates planned for May, July and August, as well as an additional leg that was to have started in September.

Hawkins, 50, was found dead in his hotel room Friday night in Bogota, Colombia, where the band was scheduled to perform at a festival. While an official cause of death hasn’t been announced, officials in Colombia stated that 10 different substances were found in Hawkins’ urine.

Fall Out Boy is here to encourage you to fire up your light sabers and start swinging.

The band is the latest to make their music available to Beat Saber, the VR rhythm game in which players wield blades that resemble light sabers and cut through different blocks, perfectly timed to the beat of the music. The game is available on the Oculus Quest 2 and Rift platforms.

There’s also a concert stage environment, complete with pyrotechnics. Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz notes in a statement, “Our shows are flat out filled with pyro – it’s rock n roll. Peter Frampton to resume farewell tour with three UK concerts this November

Here’s some happy news from Peter Frampton, who announced that he will finally resume his Finale: The Farewell Tour this fall.

The guitar wiz has confirmed three U.K. concerts, scheduled for November 5 in Stoke-on-Trent, November 6 in Glasgow and November 8 at London’s famed Royal Albert Hall.

“My band and I have been chomping at the bit to play and can’t wait to keep our promise to play for you again,” Frampton says in a message posted on his official website and social media sites. “Thanks for your patience.”

Tickets for the shows go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, March 30. Pre-sale tickets also are being offered today; visit SeeTickets.com for more info.

Frampton launched his farewell tour with a North American leg in June 2019 after announcing that he’d been diagnosed with a degenerative muscular disease that he expects will eventually rob him of his ability to play guitar. A European portion of the trek initially had been scheduled to kick off in June 2020, but was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Peter’s health issue made it uncertain whether he would be able to finish his planned tour, so news of him scheduling shows certainly is a positive sign.

In April 2021, Frampton released his latest studio album, Frampton Forgets the Words, a collection of instrumental covers of some of his favorite songs, including tunes by Sly and the Family Stone, Radiohead, Marvin Gaye, Roxy Music, George Harrison, Stevie Wonder and David Bowie.
