Robert Plant & Alison Krauss add shows to second US tour leg supporting ‘Raise the Roof’

Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant and acclaimed country-bluegrass artist Alison Krauss have added four new dates to the end of their forthcoming second U.S. tour leg in support of their 2021 album, Raise the Roof.

The trek, which kicks off with an August 15 concert in San Diego, California was originally plotted out through a September 4 performance in Austin, Texas. The new shows are scheduled for September 7 in Franklin, Tennessee; September 9 in Boston, Massachusetts; September 10 in Mashantucket, Connecticut; and September 12 at New York City’s famed Beacon Theatre.

In addition, an Atlanta concert that was to have taken place on June 16 but was postponed because of bad weather has been rescheduled for September 6.

Tickets for the Beacon Theatre show go on sale to the general public this Friday, June 24 at 9 a.m. ET, while tickets for the other three concerts will be available to the public that day at 10 a.m. local time. Pre-sale tickets for all four performances will go on sale starting tomorrow.

The first leg of Plant and Krauss’ 2022 U.S. tour wrapped up on Friday, June 17 with a performance at the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tennessee. The duo will launch a series of European shows with an appearance this Friday, June 24 at U.K.’s Glastonbury Festival. The trek will run through a July 20 gig in Berlin.

Released in November 2021, Raise the Roof peaked at #7 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album is a follow-up to Plant and Krauss’ Grammy-winning 2007 collaborative record, Raising Sand.

Dropkick Murphys turn Woody Guthrie lyrics into new songs for upcoming ‘This Machine Still Kills Fascists’ album

Dropkick Murphys have announced a new album called This Machine Still Kills Fascists.

The title, which references folk legend Woody Guthrie‘s famous motto, consists of new songs recorded using unused lyrics that Guthrie had written. The album was recorded with the blessing of Woody’s daughter Nora Guthrie, who provided and curated the lyrics for Dropkick to use.

“I collected lyrics on all kinds of topics…lyrics that seemed to be needed to be said — or screamed — today,” Nora says. “[Dropkick vocalist/bassist] Ken Casey is a master at understanding Woody’s lyrics, which can be complicated, long, deadly serious, or totally ridiculous. DKM is capable of delivering them all.”

“The project has been a long time in the making,” Casey adds. “Nora Guthrie thought her father would’ve got a kick out of us, would’ve liked us, that we were somewhat kindred spirits so to speak, which to us was a huge honor.”

Dropkick Murphys have previously covered Woody and used his lyrics before, perhaps most famously in their song “I’m Shipping Up to Boston.”

This Machine Still Kills Fascists will be released September 30. Lead single “Two 6’s Upside Down” will premiere July 6.

Dropkick Murphys will support This Machine Still Kills Fascists on a U.S. tour this fall, bringing their normally raucous live show to seated theaters to perform the new album in full. Tickets for the outing, which launches October 20 in Concord, New Hampshire, go on sale this Friday, June 24.

Watch new clip of ’Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby’

Ahead of the new Prime Video documentary Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby premiering in August, the streaming platform released a special sneak peek on Tuesday.

The short video clip begins with a monologue by Lil Baby, who is seen spending time with his two young boys Jason and Loyal.

“Family more important to me than anything. I don’t ever see me leaving my kids,” he says. “Like, I don’t wanna be no holiday dad and I just talk to you. My dad kinda stayed out of town. It was like, I see him every now and then, a couple times a year.”

Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby chronicles the life of the Grammy-winning rapper from his early rap days as a teenager in Atlanta to becoming a highly sought-after and successful hip-hop artist.

“This film is a real look into my journey,” Baby said in a press release. “And if it inspires even one person to believe that they can get through hard stuff and dare to follow a dream, then it was worth every penny spent and hour worked.”

The feature length documentary about the life and career of the Atlanta rapper is set to premiere on Prime Video on August 26.

Kristen Bell announces ‘Frozen 3’ with “zero authority”

Kristen Bell is manifesting another Frozen film.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Monday night, the actress teased, “I would like to officially announce, with zero authority, Frozen 3.”

But before anyone could get too excited, she added, “Please bear in mind I did say ‘zero authority,’ ’cause I can’t. I can’t do that – I’m not in charge.”

Fallon pushed a bit further, asking if there was anything in the works.

“Well, you know, I’ll keep it mysterious,” she said. “But I know Idina [Menzel] recently said she would do it and I feel like if we’re all in, what are we waiting for?”

Bell voiced Anna in the first two Frozen films, the younger sister to Menzel’s Elsa. Frozen II was released in 2019.

In This Moment announces Blood 1983 tour celebrating 10th anniversary of 2012 ’Blood’ album

In This Moment has announced a U.S. headlining tour celebrating the 10th anniversary of the band’s 2012 album, Blood.

The outing, dubbed the Blood 1983 tour, will kick off August 26 in Evansville, Indiana, and will wrap up October 22 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Nothing More will also be on the bill.

Blood, In This Moment’s fourth studio effort, was, at the time, the band’s highest-charting album. It remains the band’s only RIAA-certified album, having earned Gold status in 2017.

Along with the tour, In This Moment is releasing an EP, also called Blood 1983, the details of which will be announced at a later date.

In This Moment’s mot recent album is 2020’s Mother, which features the singles “The In-Between” and “As Above, So Below.”

Dua Lipa’s got a “full and happy heart” as her hometown festival returns to Kosovo in August

The Sunny Hill Festival, founded by Dua Lipa and her dad in her hometown of Kosovo, had been sidelined for several years by the pandemic, but it’s returning this year…after some drama that’s made headlines.

According to Balkan Insight, the issue centered on the fact that The Sunny Hill Foundation, which organizes the festival, wanted to lease a bunch of land from the government for 99 years, so there will always be a dedicated spot where the event can take place.

But when the government held up the approval of the lease, the company — led by Dua’s dad Dukagjin Lipa — announced they would instead hold the festival in Tirana, in the neighboring country of Albania.

The Kosovo government wasn’t exactly happy with this development, though, and now, they’ve declared that the festival will indeed go ahead in the country this year, as “the issue of long-term land use” is “discussed for a while until a lasting solution is found.”

But so as not to leave Albania hanging, there will now be two festivals with two different lineups: one in Pristina, Kosovo in early August and one in Tirana, Albania in late August.

On Instagram, Dua wrote, “With a full and happy heart i’m proud to say it has been decided that our festival @sunnyhillfestival will continue at its home base…on 4, 5, 6, 7th of August in Prishtina, Kosovo and we will now also be doing 26, 27, 28th of August in Tirana, Albania.”

She added, “We look forward to seeing you all there! More line up to be revealed soon… With love x Dua.”

Billie Eilish tells story behind “pretty random” new song, “TV”

During a show in England earlier this month, Billie Eilish debuted a never-before-heard new song called “TV.” In a new interview with Matt Wilkinson on Apple Music 1, the “Happier Than Ever” star shares how the track came to be.

“It was pretty random actually,” Eilish explains. “Nobody thought about it. Our plane was delayed a couple weeks ago and we were sitting outside somewhere and I was just listening to songs that I have written and never did anything with like all in my phone and my voice memos and stuff.”

“I found a couple songs and I was thinking about these songs that we have written,” she continues. “And I was, like, ‘Wow, I really love these songs.’ I just had this idea of, like, ‘What if we just did them live?'”

Eilish notes that she and her brother/collaborator, FINNEAS, hadn’t performed a song live that hadn’t been yet released or even recorded since “when the party’s over,” which was eventually included on her 2019 debut album, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?

“We write music and I want it to come out without having to prepping and making a whole like doing months and months of promo for something,” Eilish says. “I just want to be able to put music out like I used to. I think the bigger you get the harder that seems.”

She adds, “So I kind of was, like, ‘I just want to be able to go back to my roots and be the songwriter that I am and that Finneas is and sing the song that we just wrote and put it out whenever it’s done.'”

Also during the interview, Eilish talks about her love for Damon Albarn and her upcoming headlining set at Glastonbury.

Lil Baby named ASCAP songwriter of the year for second time

After adding “Grammy winner” to his title earlier this year, Lil Baby is continuing his winning streak with a new accolade. The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) announced the 27-year-old rapper as the ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Awards Songwriter of the Year on Tuesday.

This year marks the second consecutive win for Lil Baby, who’ll be recognized at the 35th annual show, which is set to air Tuesday, June 21 through Friday, June 24 on ASCAP’s Instagram and Twitter and ASCAPUrban’s Instagram page.

“Congratulations to one of the greatest in the game,” the organization said in an announcement tweet.

Lil Baby has written and contributed to some of the most popular and successful hip-hop songs, including “Girls Want Girls” by Drake, “Every Chance I Get” by DJ Khaled and his own record, “On Me.” His long-awaited third studio album is expected this summer.

The award for R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap Song of the Year is presented to ASCAP songwriters Orville “Buggs Can Can“ Hall and Phillip Triggerman Price aka The Showboys, Dion “Devious“ Norman, Trè Samuels and Dave Welcome for their work on “Go Crazy,” performed by Chris Brown and Young Thug.

“Speak to Me,” performed by Koryn Hawthorne and written by Johntá Austin and Jeremy “TryBishop“ Hicks, is recognized as the Gospel Song of the Year. The 2020 hit song earned Hawthorne her second number-one single on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart.

The award for Rhythm & Soul Publisher of the Year goes to Sony Music Publishing, making the company’s third win at an ASCAP event this year.

On June 24 at 3 p.m. ET, the show will wrap up with “Deconstructed: Ashanti Breaks Down Her Hits,” a conversation with multiplatinum singer-songwriter Ashanti and VIBE Editor-in-Chief, Datwon Thomas.

I Prevail announces US headlining tour in support of upcoming ’True Power’ album

I Prevail has announced a U.S. headlining tour in support of the band’s upcoming new album, True Power.

The two-legged outing, which will also feature Pierce The Veil and Fit for a King on the bill, will first run from September 9 in Asbury Park, New Jersey to October 9 in Chicago, Illinois, and then from October 24 in Los Angeles, California to November 22 in Detroit, Michigan.

Peta Murgatroyd opens up about fertility struggles after three miscarriages

Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd are opening up about their experience with fertility struggles.

In a new interview with People, Murgatroyd revealed she has suffered three miscarriages in the last few years, including one in October 2021 when Chmerkovskiy was in Ukraine working as a judge on the country’s version of Dancing with the Stars.

The pro dancer and her husband are parents to five-year-old son Shai and said they have wanted to give their son a sibling for years.

Murgatroyd said she suffered her first miscarriage in 2020 in a Whole Foods bathroom. She said she felt “completely embarrassed” and “ultimately ashamed” at the time.

“I definitely wanted to keep my miscarriages a deep dark secret for the rest of my life,” Murgatroyd said.

“I’m somebody who prides herself on health wellness,” she said. “I exercise every single day. But as I came to realize, that doesn’t really go hand-in-hand with the reproductive system.”

Despite the stigma surrounding pregnancy loss and the shame many say they feel after experiencing one, miscarriages are not uncommon. A 2021 study in the peer-reviewed medical journal The Lancet found that an estimated 23 million miscarriages occur every year worldwide. “Psychological consequences” of pregnancy loss can include “increases in the risk of anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and suicide,” according to the study.

Murgatroyd told People that she has since been diagnosed with Polycystic ovary syndrome or PCOS — a common hormone abnormality that affects 6% to 12% of women of reproductive age in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The couple is now starting IVF, and Murgatroyd says she is in “a much happier place” because she finally “got answers.”

“For the first time in nearly two years, I feel excited,” she said.
