Michael J. Fox reassures fans after death scare: ‘I’m ok’

Michael J. Fox is quashing fears that he had died with humor and reassurance.

The Back to the Future actor took to social media on Wednesday to confirm he is alive and doing “OK” after a CNN package mistakenly posted online appeared to indicate that Fox had died.

“How do you react when you turn on the TV and CNN is reporting your death?” Fox wrote on Threads after a now-deleted CNN package titled “Remembering the life of actor Michael J. Fox” was shared online, according to media reports.

Fox went on to list a few theoretical ways one may react to seeing reports of their own death.

“Do you…A) switch to MNSBC, or whatever they are calling themselves these days, (B) Pour scolding hot water on your lap, if it hurts your fine, (C) Call your wife, hopefully she’s concerned but reassuring, (D) Relax, they do this once every year, (E) Ask yourself wtf?”

“I thought the world was ending, but apparently it’s just me and I’m ok,” he added.

The actor signed the post “Love, Mike.”

A CNN spokesperson said in a statement to ABC News on Thursday that the package “was published in error.”

“We have removed it from our platforms and send our apologies to Michael J. Fox and his family,” the spokesperson added.

Fox has been open about his health issues since announcing his Parkinson’s diagnosis in 1998.

The actor spoke to People in 2020 about his decadeslong experience with the disease, saying, “Optimism is sustainable when you keep coming back to gratitude, and what follows from that is acceptance. Accepting that this thing has happened, and you accept it for what it is.”

He continued, “It doesn’t mean that you can’t endeavor to change. It doesn’t mean you have to accept it as a punishment or a penance, but just put it in its proper place. Then see how much the rest of your life you have to thrive in, and then you can move on.”

Fox attended PaleyFest in Los Angeles this week, appearing at the Shrinking season 3 wrap celebration on Tuesday evening, according to an Instagram post that Fox reshared on his Instagram Story Wednesday.

The actor appeared in three episodes of the Apple TV+ series this past season, guest-starring as Parkinson’s patient Gerry.

John Lennon’s ‘Out the Blue’ part of War Child’s Secret 7″ series

War Child has announced the return of its Secret 7″ series, which offers exclusive vinyl singles to raise money for the charity.

The 2026 Secret 7″ lineup includes John Lennon’s “Out the Blue,” which appeared on the late Beatle’s 1973 solo album, Mind Games. There are also tracks from Glass Animals, The Last Dinner Party, Bastille and more.

Only 100 copies of each single will be available, and every piece will be housed in its own unique record sleeve with completely different artwork. You can actually submit your own artwork to be featured on a sleeve now through June 1.

Once all the sleeves are ready, the records will go on display Aug. 18 at an exhibit in London and will go up for auction online.

“The artists’ identities and the track inside remain a mystery until the record is in the hands of the buyer,” War Child explains. “It’s anonymous by design and fans bid for the record sleeve they love, not the name behind it, with the track and visual artist behind the sleeves revealed once the auction ends.”

Flooding threatens Hawaii, while dry and breezy conditions raise fire danger in the Northeast

(NEW YORK) — Amid red-flag fire danger alerts issued for parts of New York and a forecast of potential flooding for Hawaii, the weather is expected to cooperate for Friday’s historic Artemis II splashdown off the coast of Southern California.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued red-flag alerts on Thursday for several counties in upstate New York, including much of the Hudson Valley stretching from Albany to Westchester County.

The red-flag alerts are expected to last until at least 6 p.m. ET on Thursday as the NWS is forecasting wind gusts of up to 35 mph and relative humidity as low as 20%.

“Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly,” the NWS said on Thursday, adding that outdoor burning is not recommended.

Elevated fire danger to a lesser extent is also in place for other parts of the Northeast, including sections of Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island and as far north as Vermont.

Hawaii flood threat

Already this week, the eastern nose of Hawaii’s Big Island has recorded a rainfall accumulation of 10 inches to 13 inches. The eastern edges of Maui have recorded 6 inches to 12 inches of rain this week as well.

The soggy weather is expected to continue through at least Friday. An area of low pressure is developing west of the islands, drawing abundant moisture northward as it strengthens on Thursday and into Friday.

The Hawaiian islands are bracing for potential heavy rain and thunderstorms that could produce flash flooding in some areas. Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain.

Widespread rainfall of possibly 2 inches to 4 inches is still expected through Friday across the Hawaiian islands, and some areas could receive 5 to 10 inches of rain.

The excessive rainfall could cause streams to overflow and produce significant flooding and property damage in urban or low-lying spots due to runoff, and could lead to road closures in several areas.

Hawaii Gov. Josh Green said in a statement on Wednesday that President Donald Trump has approved a major disaster declaration for the state ahead of the upcoming storm, freeing up federal resources to respond to the emergency and help in early recovery efforts.

“The recovery from this storm will be long and difficult and will require constant collaboration with the counties and the federal administration — and I am confident that as with other recent disasters, we will benefit from the aloha we share for each other and our collaborative approach with anyone who can offer assistance,” Green said.

Artemis II splashdown weather

The weather forecast remains good for the scheduled splashdown of the Artemis II Orion crew module, according to NASA.

Tentatively scheduled for 8:07 p.m. ET on Friday, NASA says the splashdown site will likely be within 100 miles of the coast of San Diego, California, where the Navy’s amphibious transport dock ship USS John P. Murtha will lead recovery efforts.

The majority of the weather criteria are in order to have a safe recovery mission by sea and by air. Visibility will likely be within the necessary guidelines for the safe flight of recovery helicopters, especially from 50 to 100 miles off the coast.

Weather criteria that need to be met for a safe splashdown and recovery include wave heights of less than six feet, no precipitation or lightning within 35 miles of the splashdown site and winds under 28 mph, with minimal cloud cover and good visibility, according to NASA.

Severe weather in store for Texas and the Panhandle

A new weather pattern will begin to take shape this weekend as stormy weather begins over west Texas and the panhandle.

Moisture flowing in from the Gulf, dry air coming from the Desert Southwest and warm air from the Southeast mixing with colder air from the North are all converging as low-pressure systems move across the region.

The severe weather will likely stretch into next week and spread to Wisconsin and Michigan, possibly peaking on Monday and Tuesday.

‘Friends & heroes’ make the ACM noms even better for Miranda Lambert

Miranda Lambert already has more Academy of Country Music Awards than any other artist in history, and the odds seem good she’ll add to her total at the upcoming 61st ACMs.

The Texas native could take home eight more trophies this year, trailing only Megan Moroney in the latest nominations.

“It’s always special to be recognized by @acmawards and it’s even better when the nominations are with friends & heroes. Thank y’all,” Miranda wrote on Instagram after the nods were announced Thursday morning.

Her post includes photos of her wearing roller skates with Chris Stapleton from the “A Song to Sing” music video, which is up for song, music event and visual media of the year.

Another snapshot shows Miranda with Lainey Wilson and Reba McEntire as they perform “Trailblazer” on the 60th ACMs. It’s up for music event of the year.

There’s also a photo with Ella Langley, representing Miranda’s work as a writer and producer on “Choosin’ Texas,” a song and single of the year contender.

If that doesn’t seem to add up to eight, here’s why: Miranda could take home multiple trophies in some of the categories for her work as a writer and producer.

Of course, she’s nominated for female artist of the year as well.

Roger Waters and son looking for singer to voice Pink Floyd tribute tour

Roger Waters has announced that he and his son, Harry Waters, are looking for a singer who sounds like him to front a future Pink Floyd tribute tour.

The rocker revealed plans on social media for something called Legacy: A Pink Floyd Show, performed by the Harry Waters Band, with the tag line: “The Father’s Legacy, the Son’s Band.”

But before the tour can happen, they apparently need to find a singer.

“My son @harrywatersmusic has put a great band and show together to go on the road next year to pay tribute to the music from the golden era of @pinkfloyd and maybe a couple of songs from my subsequent solo career,” Roger writes. “Harry’s band is missing one thing. The voice I had when I was young.”

“Back in the day, I could sing everything from the soft urgency of ‘Hello, is there anybody in there?’ from ‘Comfortably Numb’, to the high-pitched scream of ‘You know how I need you to beat to a pulp on a Saturday night’ from ‘Don’t Leave Me Now,’” he continues. “Can you do that? Are you that missing voice?”

He adds, “If you are, this is your chance. This is an open invitation to audition for Harry’s band. I’m serious.”

Submissions to be that voice are now open at HarryWaters.com, with a deadline of April 30. The site notes that the tentative plan is for touring to start in February 2027.

Broadway mom: Pink to host the Tony Awards

Pink’s transformation into the ultimate Broadway mom is complete: She’s hosting the Tony Awards in June.

Pink’s daughter, Willow Hart Sage, has set her sights on being a Broadway star, so Pink has moved the family to New York City to help her pursue her dream. Pink has also taken Willow to multiple shows, complete with cast meet-and-greets, and sent the teen out to interview Broadway stars when she guest-hosted The Kelly Clarkson Show.

But the Tony Awards is some next-level stuff. Pink says in a statement, “When I was asked to host the Tonys, I immediately thought, ‘I have to get permission from my daughter.’ I’ve never been on Broadway, and shouldn’t you have to have been on Broadway in order to host? That seems fair and right.”

“But when I asked my daughter, she was really excited about being able to have a ticket to go to the Tonys, so I’m hosting the Tonys and I’m really, really, excited and very nervous because that girl is a tough crowd!”

On Instagram, Pink posted a video of herself fulfilling her Tony Awards host requirement to be “on Broadway” by stepping one foot onto the stage during a performance of The Great Gatsby.

“Special thanks to the team at @bwaygatsby for letting me share the stage, even just for a moment,” she wrote.

The 79th annual Tony Awards will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+ on June 7.

Husband of woman reported missing after going overboard in Bahamas arrested: Police

(NEW YORK) — The husband of a woman who was reported missing in the Bahamas after going overboard on a dinghy has been arrested, according to the Royal Bahamas Police Force.

Lynette Hooker, 55, of Michigan, and her husband, Brian Hooker, 58, had departed Hope Town on the Abaco Islands for Elbow Cay around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to the Royal Bahamas Police Force.

The couple was en route to their yacht, “Soulmate,” when bad weather caused Lynette Hooker to fall overboard, her husband told authorities.

Brian Hooker was arrested Wednesday evening and was being questioned in connection with his wife’s disappearance, police said. No further details were released.

According to his attorney, Brian Hooker has been “cooperating with the relevant authorities as part of an ongoing investigation.”

The husband “categorically denies the allegations made against him,” the attorney, Terrel Butler, said in a statement on Thursday.

“Mr. Hooker cannot provide further comments to the media or the public at this time while the investigations are ongoing,” Butler added. “It is crucial to mention the importance of maintaining the integrity of the legal process.”

The arrest comes after multiple sources told ABC News a criminal investigation had been opened into whether there was any wrongdoing in the case.

The U.S. Coast Guard will be leading the probe, according to a source familiar with the investigation.

The search is ongoing for Lynette Hooker, according to police.

Her husband told police the strong currents on Saturday took her out to sea, authorities said. She was holding the boat key when she went overboard, causing the 8-foot hard-bottom dinghy’s engine to shut off, police noted.

Her husband spoke out for the first time on Wednesday, saying he is “heartbroken over the recent boat accident.”

In a statement posted to social media, Brian Hooker said “unpredictable seas and high winds” caused his “beloved Lynette to fall from our small dinghy” near Elbow Cay.

“Despite desperate attempts to reach her, the winds and currents drove us further apart. We continue to search for her and that is my sole focus,” he said.

Brian Hooker subsequently paddled the boat back to shore, arriving at around 4 a.m. Sunday to a marina, where he reported his wife overboard to an individual who then alerted police, authorities said.

The search and rescue operation has been conducted by land, sea and air and involved multiple agencies, including the U.S. Coast Guard, the Royal Bahamas Police Force said.

Brian Hooker thanked the agencies “who have worked tirelessly in an ongoing effort to bring Lynette back to us.”

“Thank you to everyone for keeping Lynette in your thoughts and for your support of our family during this difficult time,” he said.

The investigation and search efforts are ongoing, police said Tuesday.

Lynette Hooker’s daughter, Karli Aylesworth, has called for a “full and complete investigation” into her mother’s disappearance.

She told ABC News her mother is fit and a good swimmer, and described what her stepfather told her about his wife’s disappearance.

“He said that my mom’s missing and that she fell out of the boat and that he threw a life jacket to her or something, and he doesn’t know if she got it or not,” she said.

“I just hope we find her,” she added.

The Hookers are avid sailors, documenting their travels on social media under the name “The Sailing Hookers.”

The U.S. State Department is “aware of reports regarding a missing American near Elbow Cay” and is “working with Bahamian authorities to provide assistance,” a spokesperson for the agency said Monday.

Fleetwood Mac’s Mick Fleetwood marries for a fifth time

Congratulations are in order for Mick Fleetwood.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer revealed in an Instagram post in late March that he has gotten married, sharing photos of him and wife Elizabeth on their honeymoon.

“The south Pacific does its magic !!! A honeymoon with my love Elizabeth…creating moments to be remembered !!” he captioned the post. “Sun health and happiness!!”

The post includes two photos of Mick and Elizabeth. In one Mick is wearing a black suit and Elizabeth is in what appears to be a white wedding dress with a fur jacket. The other is of them in front of the ocean, with Elizabeth once again in white, and Mick in a Hawaiian shirt with pink hat. In both photos, Elizabeth’s face is covered, and Mick can be seen wearing what appears to be a gold wedding band. There’s also a photo of Mick enjoying the crystal blue water, and another of him posing shirtless in front of the ocean.

This is the 78-year-old Fleetwood Mac drummer’s fifth marriage to his fourth wife. He was previously married twice to model Jenny Boyd, sister of Pattie Boyd, from 1970 to 1976 and from 1977 to 1978. He was also married to Sara Recor from 1988 to 1995 and to Lynn Frankel from 1995 to 2015.

1 dead, 2 missing after under-construction Philadelphia parking garage partially collapses: Mayor

(PHILADELPHIA) — One person is dead and another two remain unaccounted for after a seven-story parking garage under construction in Philadelphia partially collapsed, officials said.

A search and rescue operation is ongoing for the two individuals following Wednesday’s partial collapse, in what Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker called a “complex process” due to the instability of the structure.

“We will not rest until everyone is accounted for from this tragedy,” Parker said at a press briefing late Wednesday.

Three people were rescued from the scene, according to Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Jeffrey Thompson. One was critically injured and died at a hospital, he said. The two others were treated and have since been released, he said.

The incident occurred around 2:17 p.m. Wednesday, according to Parker. A subcontractor was in the process of installing precast concrete floor decking and roof segments at the time, she said.

“After placement, a precast roof segment failed and fell to the level below, literally triggering a progressive collapse of connected sections across all seven levels,” Parker said.

Thompson said engineers and others are evaluating the building so that a safe search and rescue operation can occur.

“We will not stop until we have looked through every part of this affected structure to ensure that everyone is accounted for,” he said, noting that this process will “take time.”

“This building that has been impacted is unstable. It has to be secured,” he said. “We have to very carefully and methodically deconstruct this building for the safety of the people working on it, and ultimately, for the safety of the first responders who will continue the search.”

The owner of the parking garage is the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and the contractor for the project is based in Exton, Pennsylvania, according to Parker.

“We are prioritizing the safety of the construction workers at this time and working closely with the City of Philadelphia and our construction partners,” the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia said in a statement.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro said his administration offers those on the ground “our full support as they continue rescue efforts at the scene and support the families impacted.”

Eight permits required for the construction were properly issued, and all inspections were up to date, according to Parker.

“The city will investigate this garage collapse thoroughly and efficiently to learn all of the relevant facts of this terrible tragedy,” she said.

Pooh Shiesty to remain in custody following recent arrest

Pooh Shiesty has been ordered to remain in custody after his arrest for allegedly pulling a gun during a dispute over his contract with Gucci Mane’s record label.

He’s been accused of kidnapping and robbing Gucci and other victims at gunpoint. A Texas judge ruled in a federal court on Wednesday that there is “probable cause that he committed the crimes alleged in the complaint.”

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Pooh Shiesty, born Lontrell Williams Jr., was arrested last week in connection with “an armed takeover” in January at a Dallas music studio. Authorities allege he, his father Lontrell Williams Sr., and seven other people confronted Gucci, born Radric Davis, and demanded Shiesty’s release from his contract with 1017 Records at gunpoint. Prosecutors say Shiesty “forced one of the victims to sign a release from the recording contract at gunpoint,” allegedly using an AK-style pistol.

The group also allegedly robbed other victims at gunpoint, taking items including jewelry, cash and Rolex watches, according to the DOJ. One victim was reportedly nearly unconscious after being choked.

Pooh Shiesty and his attorneys have questioned why charges were filed three months after the incident, noting that the FBI did not recover any weapons or stolen jewelry, nor did they find surveillance video of the alleged robbery. The group was, however, captured in surveillance images entering and leaving the recording studio that day.

“The story is quite unusual and I think that the FBI knew that, I think the investigators knew that it was unusual,” said Pooh Shiesty’s attorney Bradford Cohen. “And I think that’s why it took so long to make the arrest. The FBI doesn’t take three months to arrest someone if they believe everything that was said on the night that it occurred. They were involved the first night and then nothing happened for three months.”

“It’s a he said, he said type of case,” Cohen said.

Prosecutors argue that Pooh Shiesty is a flight risk and allege that he did not have permission to be in Dallas, based on the conditions of his release in October after serving three years for gun-related crimes.

If convicted, he faces life in prison.

A judge ruled during a detention hearing last week that there is probable cause in the case against Pooh Shiesty’s father, rapper Big30 and three alleged co-conspirators.

They also face potential sentences of up to life imprisonment if convicted.

Gucci Mane has not publicly commented on the incident.
