It’s official: Elton John teams up with Britney Spears for “Tiny Dancer” reworking “Hold Me Closer”

Elton John scored his biggest hit in years by teaming up with British pop star Dua Lipa for “Cold Heart,” a reworking of four of his old songs. Now it appears that the rumors are true: Elton has done something similar with Britney Spears.

Page Six recently reported that Elton and Britney had teamed up for a remix of John’s 1972 hit “Tiny Dancer” and that the collaboration was Elton’s idea. The track is called “Hold Me Closer,” which is the first line of the chorus of “Tiny Dancer.”

Similarly, “Cold Heart” took its title from a line in “Sacrifice,” one of the four Elton hits that were mashed up by the Australian dance trio PNAU to create the duet with Dua.

Britney’s pal Paris Hilton recently said she’d heard the track and pronounced it “insane.”

“Hold Me Closer” is now available to presave.

RHCP’s Flea feels fans asking for photos “ruins having actual conversation”: “It is a transaction”

If you even happen to meet Flea in real life, here’s a piece of advice: don’t ask to take a picture.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist shared his take on taking photos with fans in response to a Twitter user detailing their “special” experience meeting and talking with Flea and frontman Anthony Kiedis.

“It’s because you all generated a kind and gentle light, and you didn’t ask for a picture,” Flea wrote of the interaction. “We are always down to talk and chat, asking for a photo ruins it instantly.”

Flea then added that, while “there’s nothing wrong” with asking to take a photo, he feels the request “ruins having actual conversation.”

“It is a transaction,” he wrote.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are currently touring the U.S. in support of their new album, Unlimited Love. Another RHCP record, Return of the Dream Canteen, drops October 14.

Beyoncé scores first solo Hot 100 hit since “Single Ladies”

Beyoncé‘s “Break My Soul” has risen to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. The single, which debuted at #15, is the #1 song on the all-genre chart.

“Break My Soul” officially lands Bey her first solo hit since 2008’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and eighth solo #1 overall. She previously topped the charts with “Crazy in Love” feat. Jay-Z; “Baby Boy” feat. Sean Paul; “Check on It” feat. Slim Thug; “Irreplaceable”; “Perfect” with Ed Sheeran; and Megan Thee Stallion‘s “Savage.” This excludes the four #1 songs recorded with Destiny’s Child.

“Break My Soul” was released on June 20 as the lead single to Beyoncé‘s Renaissance and is now available in different iterations. As for the album itself, it currently sits at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. All songs on the record have placed on the Hot 100, according to Billboard.

Summer Walker releases Amazon Music Live EP, ‘Summer Series’

Summer Walker‘s new EP has officially dropped, but the project is void of new tracks. Instead, Summer Series includes live renditions of five of her beloved hits. Featured on the record are “Over It,” “Playing Games,” “Session 32,” “Throw It Away” and “Unloyal,” which are now streaming on Amazon Music.

Summer is expecting her second child, but her pregnancy hasn’t slowed down her grind. The singer performed at London’s Wireless Festival, Essence Fest and the Roots Picnic over the last few months while preparing for the end of her Summer Walker Series: Part II tour, which ends August 17 in Detroit.

She also secured some big collaborations — Kendrick Lamar‘s “Purple Hearts” and The Weeknd‘s “Best Friend (Remix)” — and a Best R&B Video nomination for “No Love (Extended Version)” featuring SZA and Cardi B.

Carly Pearce is blown away by crowd singing “What He Didn’t Do”

Carly Pearce is reveling in the joy of music.

Over the weekend, Carly performed at the Mississippi Valley Fair in Davenport, Iowa, where she got a measure of the impact of her new radio single, “What He Didn’t Do.” The singer took to Instagram to share a video of the packed crowd singing the lyrics so loudly that the singer can’t get a word in.

Standing on the stage, Carly attempts to sing into the microphone, but is drowned out by the sound of the massive crowd as they sing at the top of their lungs, “The devil’s in the details, I won’t tell the hell that he put me through/All I know is in the end, it wasn’t what he did, no/It was what he didn’t do.”

“ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This song just went to radio & y’all sing it like this?! I couldn’t even sing through all the tears!” Carly writes in the caption with a crying face and heart emojis. “I LOVE YOU, IOWA!”

“What He Didn’t Do” is the third single off the Kentucky native’s latest album, 29: Written in Stone. She recently made a donation to the American Red Cross to help with relief efforts after a devastating flood ravaged her home state last month.

Pink shares touching video dancing with her mother

Pink recently shared a video of her with her mom that she says encapsulates “just joy.”

The Grammy-winning artist posted the sweet clip of the two dancing together on Sunday.

“My mama. 75. Jitter bug champion,” she wrote in text overlaid in the video. “She told me I’m the only one left that she knows that can dance with her.”

“Happiness and heartbreak all in one statement,” she added. In the video’s caption she wrote, “Just joy.”

Many of the singer’s friends and fans took to the comments to share stories about their own mothers.

A love of dancing seems to run in the family: Pink’s daughter, Willow, was recently seen showing off her talents onstage in a recent Instagram video posted by Pink’s husband, Carey Hart.

“I’m so proud of the lil woman that willow is becoming!!!! She has been bitten by the theater bug, and she is killing it!!!” Hart wrote in the caption of that post.

President Biden reacts to China drills near Taiwan

(WASHINGTON) — As President Joe Biden was leaving for Kentucky to survey flood damage, he was asked about China’s live fire military drills near the island of Taiwan.

“I’m not worried but I’m concerned that they’re moving as much as they are,” the president responded.

He added that he doesn’t believe the situation will escalate much further.

The war games are in response to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s visit to the island, which China views as its own territory and not a sovereign state.

Despite President Biden’s doubts, China said it’s extending its military exercises, and Taiwan expressed concern that the exercises appear to simulate an attack.

BLACKPINK unveils world tour, teases new single “Pink Venom”

K-pop sensation BLACKPINK is heading back out on tour, and the girl group says fans won’t have to wait too long to see them live.

The “Ice Cream” singers — Lisa, Jennie, Rosé and Jisoo — unveiled the Born Pink tour, which kicks off October 15 in Seoul, South Korea. From there, the group will hit up North America, Europe, South America, Asia and Australia on their multidate tour, which wraps June 21, 2023, in Auckland, New Zealand.

The girls hinted they might extend their world tour by saying at the bottom of all the listed dates, “And more!” As for their American dates, they plan on hitting up Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Chicago and Los Angeles, as well as Newark, New Jersey.

Tickets and venues for the globe-trotting tour have not yet been announced.

This will mark the third time BLACKPINK sets out on tour, following their successful Your Area world tour, which wrapped in 2020.

That’s not all the singers have up their sleeves — they’re also gearing up for the release of their new album, Born Pink, which arrives August 19.

To tantalize fans, the singers will release their first new single, “Pink Venom,” this Friday, August 12. They previously released the promotional single, “Ready for Love,” for their collaboration with PUBG Mobile.

Tatiana Maslany on going green with Mark Ruffalo in ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’

A wise reptile once said, “It’s not easy being green.” But fortunately for Tatiana Maslany, she’s become close with her She-Hulk: Attorney at Law co-star Mark Ruffalo.

In the show, the Orphan Black Emmy winner plays Jennifer Walters, a lawyer specializing in superhuman-oriented legal cases who gets superpowers of her own after a blood transfusion from Ruffalo’s Avenger Bruce Banner.

His gamma-irradiated blood gives her the ability to transform into a 6-foot-7-inch superpowered hulk. As her character does in the show, Maslany said she leaned on Ruffalo for support on this journey.

“He is one of those actors … who just empowers you to be yourself and be in the moment,” Maslany told Good Morning America of her “very playful” co-star.

While Maslany joked that Ruffalo would “never mansplain how to be the Hulk to me,” she said it was a sight to watch him transform into the fan-favorite character.

“I don’t think that’s a normal way a human moves,” she recalled of watching Ruffalo in action, playing a role he has owned since The Avengers in 2012. She said Ruffalo was “so committed and so in his body.”

“He had such an embodied, incredible connection to that character and I felt like I really witnessed that,” Maslany said.

Being a 30-something woman with superpowers, Maslany said fans will see “comedy” and “great slice of life” moments not typically seen in the Marvel universe. This includes “banal” activities like Jen as She-Hulk helping her dad move heavy things around the house, or going out on dates as a “glamazon.”

She-Hulk streams exclusively on Disney+ beginning Thursday, August 18.
