Manny Charlton, founding guitarist of the Scottish rock band Nazareth, has died, according to a Facebook post from his grandson. A cause of death was not given. Charlton was 80.

Charlton was Nazareth’s guitarist, producer and co-songwriter from 1968 to 1990, and played on the band’s most successful albums, including 1975’s Hair of the Dog, which was RIAA-certified Platinum in the U.S. and featured the group’s biggest hit, a cover of “Love Hurts,” originally made famous by The Everly Brothers in 1960.

Charlton produced Guns N’ Roses‘ early demos, but bowed out of producing their debut album due to commitments with Nazareth. The album, ultimately recorded with producer Mike Clink, went on to sell an estimated 30 million copies globally and became the biggest-selling debut of all time. GN’R recorded “Hair of the Dog” for their 1993 all-covers album, The Spaghetti Incident?

After Deep Purple bassist Roger Glover produced several early Nazareth albums, Charlton took over for Hair of the Dog, and remained the band’s producer until 1983, a period during which they released some 17 studio albums.

Charlton went on to release numerous solo projects, including 2014’s Hellacious, which featured guest appearances from original GN’R drummer Steven Adler, as well as Def Leppard/Dio guitarist Vivian Campbell, Vanilla Fudge‘s Tim Bogert and others.

Nicki Minaj‘s husband Kenneth Petty was sentenced in Los Angeles on Wednesday after failing to register as a sex offender.

Petty, 44, was sentenced to three years of probation and one year of in-home detention for the offense, according to MyNewsLA.com. He was also ordered to pay a $55,000 fine.

The sentencing comes a year after Petty pleaded guilty to the federal charge of failure to register.

Petty was convicted in 1995 of attempted rape for an incident that occurred the year before with a 16-year-old girl in New York. He served over four years in prison for the offense and was ordered to register as a sex offender if he ever moved out of the state.

Petty and Nicki married in 2019 and moved to California afterward. They welcomed their first child together in September 2020.

Dave Chappelle put his money where his very outspoken mouth is, and purchased a large plot of land near his home in Yellow Springs, Ohio — and his neighbors are thanking him for it.

Developers had planned to install housing on the 52-acre plot, but Chappelle apparently outbid the developer, meaning the land will be preserved as-is, according to the Daily Mail.

“To me it is clear, the project isn’t going forward. The developers will not be building on that land,” village manager Josue Salmeron told the publication.

In response, some local residents and merchants have been posting signs reading “Thanks, Dave!”

As reported in February, Chappelle took his grievances to a local city council meeting, and along with other residents, decried the plan.

“Hi, I’m Dave Chappelle,” the comic said, after waiting his turn to speak at the time.”I just wanna say…I don’t know why the village council is afraid of litigation from a $24 million-a-year company,” referring to the developer Oberer, “when it’s out a $65 million-a-year company,” Dave said, referring to his Iron Table Holdings company.

“I cannot believe you would make me audition for you!” Chappelle blasted the council members. “You look like clowns.”

Chappelle added forcefully, “I am not bluffing. I will take it all off the table!”

The comic is heavily invested in the community in which he lives, and the parcel of land on which housing would have been built abuts his own property.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill co-star as James and Margaret Dutton on the wildly popular Yellowstone prequel, 1883. On the show, Isabel May plays their oldest daughter Elsabut in real life, the actress admits she didn’t even know who Tim and Faith were before she signed on to the series.

“I didn’t know that they were big,” Isabel reveals to Kelly Clarkson on an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, which Tim also joined via video chat.

But her musical blind spot paid off on set, as she was able to get to know the superstar couple not as famous country artists but as people.

“There was a blank slate. And my goodness, they are just the loveliest people I think I’ve ever met. I immediately fell in love with them,” Isabel continues. “It was so genuine.”

Specifically, she quickly learned that not only was Faith kind, but she was also hilarious. “She’s such a goofball!” Isabel says. “She makes animal noises, weird animal noises. She’s so gifted at it, too.”

The feeling is apparently mutual: Tim says that when he first met Isabel, he was impressed by how much she looked like she could be their actual daughter. As he got to know her, his admiration only grew.

“The more we got to know her, the sweeter she got, and the more we grew to love her and respected her,” he says. “She’s incredible. She just shines in the show.”

Sheryl Crow is just one of the several artists who were set to perform as part of this week’s Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Illinois. But the festival has canceled or postponed all scheduled shows through July 10, in the wake of the mass shooting in Highland Park on July 4 that left seven people dead and dozens more wounded.

On Twitter, Sheryl, a longtime anti-gun violence advocate, posted the festival notification and wrote, “We are hurting w/ the community of #HighlandPark & all the communities suffering from gun violence during this confusing time in our history. We feel helpless to know how to help. We encourage everyone to give to those who are in mourning.”

She added that she plans to her reschedule her Ravinia appearance, which was to have taken place Thursday night. Her next show is July 8 in Ohio.  All ticket holders will receive refunds by August 1.

On Wednesday, the alleged shooter, 21-year-old Robert Crimo III, was ordered held without bond by a judge. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 28.

Although we’re unable to see Justin Bieber live in concert at this time, that’s not stopping him from putting on a virtual reality show.

Garena has teamed with the “Peaches” hitmaker to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Free Fire game. The platform is reportedly pulling out all the stops to get fans excited for the milestone event — and that includes a special collaboration with Justin.

“I’m excited to partner with Garena Free Fire to have this opportunity to entertain my fans across the globe,” he raved. “This collaboration with Free Fire has allowed us to explore various dimensions in which we can integrate my music with games and I can’t wait for everyone to enjoy what we have worked hard on behind the scenes.”

Justin will not only step up for a in-game performance, set for August 27, he will also debut an exclusive track just for the game’s anniversary.

Not only that, Garena is making it possible for players to dress their avatars up in new outfits and enjoy some custom emotes to dance along to the Grammy winner’s music. That’s not all, though — players can also take on some minigames and win a chance to perform with Justin’s avatar on the virtual stage.

Garena teased there will be more exciting announcements to come in the following weeks.

Free Fire is a battle royale, first-person shooter game, and is one of the top gaming apps on the iOS and Android stores. The game set a record in August 2021 for having the most global players online in a single day — over 150 million.

The event will kick off with a number of musical performances paying tribute to Ringo.
