Go behind the scenes on Maren Morris’ Humble Quest tour, through the eyes of her photographer

Ever wonder what it’s like to tag along on a big country star’s tour? Wonder no more: Maren Morris’ tour photographer, Rachel Deeb, is documenting the day-to-day process of being out on the road.

Over the course of two Instagram reels, Rachel walks fans through a typical day on the Humble Quest tour, beginning with her morning routine of climbing out of her third-floor bunk on the bus and eating a bowl of cereal.

“And you can’t use the bus water, so you always have to use water bottles,” Rachel explains as she narrates video footage of herself brushing her teeth.

That’s just one of the many surprising and not-always-so-glamorous parts of tour life that Rachel documents in her posts. In both reels, Rachel admits that she has “so much anxiety” at one part of the show, where Maren makes her way through a crowd of fans to go over to another special stage.

“But it’s okay because most of our after-show food is pizza, and sometimes even oysters if you’re lucky,” Rachel continues.

She goes on to document the crew’s weekend in Gilford, New Hampshire, which has “the best venue — I mean, we literally did 50 activities,” Rachel says, showing clips of the gang swimming at a lake, hanging in a game lounge and even playing pickleball.

Maren’s Humble Quest Tour will continue throughout the year, wrapping with a hometown show at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on December 2.

Ray Liotta’s ‘Black Bird’ co-stars remember the late actor

Apple TV+

The new Apple TV+ series Black Bird features one of the last performances from Ray Liotta, who died in his sleep in May at the age of 67.

Black Bird tells the true story of a convicted drug dealer, played by Taron Egerton, who can go free if he gets a confession from a serial killer and finds out where his victims are buried. Liotta plays Egerton’s father, a former cop in ill health who wasn’t the most honorable officer, and Egerton tells ABC Audio it’s a fantastic performance.

“I was very inspired by working with Ray, and I felt kind of changed by it as an actor,” he recalls. “I think the scenes are some of the best that I’ve been a part of in, not just this show, but my entire career.”

“I know he was very excited about this and I know he was very passionate about the role,” adds Egerton. “So it’s a nice way, because I believe that Ray ended his life at the peak of his acting powers.”

The show’s creator Dennis Lehane calls Liotta’s death “a big blow,” explaining, “Nobody had a clue — absolutely none. He was fine right up until he didn’t wake up.”

In fact, Lehane says he and Liotta even had plans to work together on a future project.

“The last conversation I ever had with Ray was, he said ‘what are you working on?'” he says. “I told him and he said, ‘Is there a part in there for me?’ And I said, ‘Of course there’s a part in there for you.’ And he said, ‘Well, make it a big part.'”

Black Bird is currently streaming on Apple+, with new episodes airing Fridays.

After two years off, Carrie Underwood is “chomping at the bit” to get her Denim & Rhinestones tour rolling

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been nearly two years since Carrie Underwood headed out on a major headlining tour.

“We were fortunate enough to get our Cry Pretty Tour all in by the end of 2019. And it’s been that long since we’ve been out on the road,” she explains. “We’ve done some shows here and there at festivals and things like that, but haven’t been on a proper tour.”

Of course, that doesn’t mean she hasn’t been busy. During the COVID pandemic-induced road hiatus, Carrie put out a Christmas album — My Gift — and a gospel album — My Savior — plus mounted her very own Las Vegas residency and duetted with Jason Aldean on the chart-topping “If I Didn’t Love You.” Of course, she also recorded and released a new album of her own, Denim & Rhinestones.

But the Denim & Rhinestones Tour, which kicks off this fall, will mark her first official headlining return to tour life, and Carrie says her whole team is more than ready.

“I feel like everybody’s chomping at the bit, to be honest,” she admits.

“You don’t realize how much you love something until you can’t do it,” the singer reflects as she looks forward to the tour ahead. “There’s going to be a lot of energy. Jimmie Allen’s coming out on the road with us. He’s just a great performer, super talented, super nice guy. And I just feel like it’s gonna be a lot of fun.”

The tour kicks off October 15, and it’ll run into March 2023.

The Rolling Stones are in the midst of the first leg of their SIXTY tour, commemorating their 60th anniversary, and frontman Mick Jagger recently chatted with Apple Music’s Matt Wilkinson about the trek.

The current tour leg, which finds The Stones visiting a variety of European cities, is the second the band has played with drummer Steve Jordan, who stepped in for longtime drummer Charlie Watts after Watts passed away last August at age 80.

Jagger tells Wilkinson that Jordan has fit in well with the group, and he feels that’s least partly because Steve shares some important attributes with Charlie.

“If you introduce someone else into a band of people, it’s always going to change the dynamic, but Steve, he’s a great drummer,” Mick notes. “[B]ut also…like Charlie was, he’s a student of drumming. [He’s] not just a ‘wang bash’ drummer, or even just a great drummer. He’s also a student of drumming.”

Jagger adds, “He can listen to Charlie’s performances on record, and live, obviously, and take those and keep the essence of what Charlie did in those songs without changing it very much. Of course, he will interpret them slightly differently, but he’ll keep the great things that Charlie did, and add his own thing to it.”

Meanwhile, Mick says he feels that The Rolling Stones have generally become “a much more consistent performing band” during over the last two decades.

“We always set a standard and try to hit that,” the 78-year-old rock legend maintains. “Of course, some shows are better than others for whatever reason…and they’re different. Maybe they’re not as good in some ways, maybe they’re better than others. You know, every show is a different animal.”

The Stones next show takes place this Friday, July 15, in Vienna.

Pop star Lizzo has a new song called “Coldplay” on her upcoming album, Special, and Chris Martin is a fan.

Martin made a surprise call to Lizzo during her interview with Apple Music 1 to talk about the song, which samples the Coldplay classic “Yellow.”

“Thank you for giving me the blessing to sample you and to name the song after your band,” Lizzo says in a clip from the conversation, which premiered via RollingStone.com.

In explaining how the “Coldplay” song came about, Lizzo shares a story about singing “Yellow” during an intimate moment with another person.

“If someone had told me 22 years ago, ‘You know, one day Lizzo’s gonna make out to this song,’ I’d be like, ‘OK, great!'” Martin laughs. “It’s become Lizzo’s hookup song, and that’s good.”

Special will be released this Friday, July 15.

The collection, simply titled Singles, features the discs housed in reproduced, original picture sleeves and comes packaged with a booklet boasting detailed notes, rare photos of the U.K. prog-rock trio and a foreword by ELP drummer Carl Palmer. Also included are art cards inspired by the singles’ sleeves.

The box set, which features songs spanning from 1971 to 1992, is being released in celebration of ELP’s 50th anniversary. All of the tracks have been remastered by respected studio engineer Andy Pearce.

The box set also features the single-edit version of ELP’s adaptation of Aaron Copland‘s “Fanfare for the Common Man,” which peaked at #2 on the U.K. chart in 1977.
