Lil Baby will be honored with the Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award at the second annual Music in Action Awards Gala.
The event, hosted by the Black Music Action Coalition, will be held September 22 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, according to Variety.
BMAC is celebrating artists, executives, businesses, entrepreneurs, activists and companies that have utilized their platforms to effect social change over the past year.
Lil Baby is being recognized for fighting for racial and social justice inside and outside of the music industry.
The Grammy winner recently hosted his third-annual Back to School Fest for over 3,000 children in Atlanta.
“The Bigger Picture” rapper also established the $150,000 My Turn scholarship program for students at his former high school in the A-T-L.
Last year, the Weeknd and H.E.R. received the Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award.
Lil Baby is featured on DJ Khaled’s new God Did album and will release his third album, It’s Only Me, on October 14.

The sold-out event, which will include headlining performances from Farm Aid board members John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews and Willie Nelson, will be broadcast live for the second consecutive year on the Circle Network.
The festival will air starting at 7 p.m. ET, and the broadcast will feature live and prerecorded segments. The Circle Network’s social channels will also livestream Farm Aid throughout the day.
Other artists on the bill include Sheryl Crow, Chris Stapleton, Margo Price, Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats and Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real. Matthews will be playing as a duo with his longtime collaborator Tim Reynolds.
Farm Aid is an annual benefit show that raises money for family farmers in the U.S. Founders Nelson, Mellencamp and Neil Young debuted the event in 1985. Young has dropped off the festival’s performance lineup for the last two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Oprah Winfrey is paying tribute to the late Sidney Poitier as the producer of the new documentary Sidney, which premiered September 10 at the Toronto Film Festival.
Winfrey was a close friend of the iconic actor who became the first Black man to win an Academy Award for best actor in 1964 for his role in Lilies of the Field.
“I learned from watching him, Maya Angelou, and Quincy Jones what it means to be a real star. The bigger the star, the more humble you are with everyone else,” Oprah told BET.
“I’ve seen nothing but humility in his personal and professional life. I’ve learned to ground myself with everything around me because he was my counsel, friend and advisor,” she added. “He was a steady force of humility and integrity.”
Working with director Reginald Hudlin, the 19-time Emmy winner says her goal for the documentary is for the public “to see the best of what it means to be a real man and what the measure of a man is.”
“To this day, Poitier’s daughters still see him as a dad because he had great stories to tell them and gathered them as a family unit,” Oprah continued. “Reginald and I wanted audiences to see their hope and possibility through the light of Sidney Poitier’s magnificent life.”
Sidney features interviews with Denzel Washington, Harry Belafonte, Quincy Jones, Halle Berry, Robert Redford, Barbra Streisand, Spike Lee, Morgan Freeman and many more.
The documentary will be shown in select theaters and will debut on Apple TV+ Friday, September 23.
(NEW YORK) — The New York attorney general’s office rejected an offer this month to resolve a civil investigation into former President Donald Trump and his family real estate business, sources familiar with the matter tell ABC News.
For more than three years, New York Attorney General Letitia James has been investigating whether Trump fraudulently adjusted the value of his assets to secure loans or tax breaks.
James had already said in court filings she has found evidence of possible fraud. The rejection of the Trump Organization’s settlement offer is a possible sign she intends to file a civil lawsuit which, if successful, could result in financial penalties or restrictions on the company’s ability to operate in New York.
A spokesperson for the AG’s declined to comment. The Trump Organization did not respond to a request for comment by ABC News.

News of the rejected settlement offer was first reported by The New York Times.
Trump, who has denied wrongdoing, has called the investigation a politically motivated witch hunt. He repeatedly invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination during a deposition last month in James’ office.
In a January court filing, James accused Trump of misstating objective facts, overstating his liquidity, and failing to use fundamental techniques of asset valuation. The filing mentioned financial statements associated with seven different Trump properties, including 40 Wall Street, the apartment in Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue, and golf clubs in Scotland and in Westchester County, New York.
Last month, in a separate case, longtime Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg pleaded guilty to charges of running a yearslong scheme to avoid paying taxes on nearly $2 million in income, including fringe benefits like rent, luxury cars and private school tuition for his grandchildren.
He also agreed to testify against the Trump Organization when the company goes on trial in connection with the alleged compensation scheme beginning in October. The plea agreement contains no requirement for him to cooperate in the related criminal case against Trump himself.

While reps for the parents of daughters James, 7, Inez, 5, and Betty, 2, haven’t answered ABC News’ request for comment, Lively’s appearance caused a stir while she was working the carpet at the 10th annual Forbes Power Women’s Summit in New York City.
Lively literally couldn’t hide the good news in the sequined, cream-colored minidress she wore as she posed for pictures at the event; she smiled atop sky-high matching platform heels, to boot.
Two weeks ago, Lively turned 35, an occasion Reynolds marked with a sweet Instagram post featuring a throwback photo of their 2012 wedding. The Deadpool star declared, “You’re spectacular. I’m not sure if you were born or invented. Also, thank you for urging me to leave the house every now and again.”
In a move that’s not surprising, considering the history of the project, Disney has removed Wonder Woman movie director Patty Jenkins‘ Star Wars: Rogue Squadron from its release schedule.
The film was initially announced back in 2020, with Jenkins explaining in a short film that the movie about the legendary Rebel fliers will be a tribute to her late military pilot father.
“When he lost his life in service to this country, it ignited a desire in me to turn all that tragedy and thrill into one day making the greatest fighter pilot movie of all time,” Jenkins said.
In 2021, Jenkins’ own schedule was to blame for the movie’s start being bumped from the Disney schedule. However, some outlets said creative differences behind the scenes were actually at fault.
Rogue Squadron would have been the next big-screen Star Wars project for Disney-owned Lucasfilm since 2019’s Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker and would have made Jenkins the first woman to direct a big-screen Star Wars film.
Other just-announced Disney scheduling moves were less potentially dramatic: The ride-based movie The Haunted Mansion starring Ahsoka‘s Rosario Dawson, Danny DeVito, LaKeith Stanfield and Jamie Lee Curtis will now open August 11, 2023, instead of March 10.
Other D23-announced titles were also given official release dates Thursday: Pixar’s Elio will open March 1, 2024. Disney’s live-action Snow White, starring Gal Gadot and Rachel Zegler, will open March 22, 2024; Inside Out 2 from Pixar will open June 14 of that year, and the Lion King prequel Mufasa: The King is slated to open July 5, 2024.
