Kanye West‘s “Through the Wire” may be a Platinum-selling hit, but it still strikes a nerve with Grammy-winning singer Chaka Khan. In an interview with Good Day DCChaka reflected on the track, which samples her 1985 song “Through the Fire,” and revealed she’s still “upset about sounding like a chipmunk.”

According to Chaka, she was not aware that her voice would be sped up on the song. “[Kanye] didn’t mention that he was gonna speed it up, you know, three times its normal speed,” she said. “Had he, I would’ve had something to say.” The experience, however, has taught her to inquire more in the future. “But since I didn’t think of that, believe me, I think of it now,” the singer continued. “I ask, ‘How are we gonna do this?’”

“Through the Wire” hears Ye open up about his nearly fatal car accident and the subsequent hospitalization, during which his mouth was wired shut. In a 2019 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Chaka said she agreed to let him sample the track after learning it was “instrumental” in his healing process.

Initially touched, her feelings later changed when she heard the finished product. “It was a little insulting,” she said. “Not insulting—I thought it was stupid. If I’d known he was gonna do that, I would have said, ‘Hell no.’”

A year later, Chaka told Vlad TV that she approved the use of “Through the Fire” because she thought there’d be no changes to her voice.

“I thought about it and said, ‘Well, he can’t mess it up because I will be singing it after all. It’s my voice,'” she recalled. “But he found a way. By golly, he found a way to frick that up. I was through.”

Naomi Judd‘s will has been released and it does not specifically mention daughters Wynonna or Ashley Judd

In the will, obtained by Entertainment Tonightthe late country legend leaves her estate in the hands of her husband, Larry Strickland, appointing him executor of the estate. The will, which dates back to November 20, 2017, states he has “full authority and discretion” to handle anything related to her “real property” that she has requested be declared as “personal property.”

Naomi also says in a statement that should something happen to her husband and he is no longer able to serve as the executor, then she appoints her brother-in-law Reginald Strickland and Daniel Kris Waiter to assume the role of co-executors.

Two people who are not specifically identified in the will are her daughters, Golden Globe-nominated actress Ashley and Wynonna, the latter of whom she won five Grammys with as part of The Judds. However, she does acknowledge her children under “Allocation of GST Exemption,” which asks the executor to handle the exemption in a manner that is “most beneficial to my children and my more remote issue.”

Naomi was pronounced dead at the age of 76 on April 30, the day before The Judds were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Ashley confirmed in an interview with Good Morning America in May that Naomi’s death was the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Miranda Lambert is offering advice to those interested in adopting a dog this summer.

In honor of National Mutt Day, the “All Kinds of Kinds” singer notes that certain types of dogs have a harder time being adopted than others, including senior dogs, pit bulls, large black dogs and canines that have disabilities.

“I encourage you to keep an open mind if you’re looking for a new pup,” she writes in a video that shows the singer visiting and playing with a variety of shelter dogs, at one point clutching her heart as she walks through the aisles of cages. “They have so much love in them…And they just need us to love them a lil bit harder.”

To support the cause, Vinyl Me, Please is donating 25 percent of the proceeds made off of sales of Miranda’s records to MuttNation, the foundation she started with her mother, Bev Lambert, that helps displaced dogs during natural disasters, provides financial support to animal shelters and more. The sale ends on August 2.

A new episode teaser for High School Musical: The Musical: The Series sees Olivia Rodrigo performing a song that foreshadows her exit this season.

Creator Tim Federle confirmed to ABC Audio last month that Olivia’s character Nini will have a “meaningful sendoff” so Olivia can pursue her musical dreams full time. And, thanks to this new sneak peek, more clarity is provided on what happens with her character.

The 50-second snippet shows Olivia strumming a guitar by a bonfire as she sings an original ballad called “The Best Is Yet to Come.”

“I open my eyes and I could see the horizon/ And the thrills are indescribable/ And the California sun is yours/ You never know which way the ride could take you/ Or how a breeze can make you start down a brand new road/ You never know,” the Grammy winner sings as an inspiring drum beat swells in the background.

Federle spoke with People about the song’s significance. “Nini’s new, acoustic solo is a poignant grace note to Olivia Rodrigo’s remarkable run on our series,” he said. “The song is all about how unpredictable a young person’s future is — and how thrilling that can be, too.”

Nini’s journey this season will mirror what’s happening to Olivia in real life  — with her pursuing her dream of becoming a professional singer.

The “drivers license” singer has starred as a main character in the series since 2019, but following her meteoric rise to fame and the release of her debut album, SOUR, she has taken on a much smaller role this season. It is not known if Olivia will return to the series, which recently got the green light for a fourth season.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is streaming its third season on Disney+.

Disney is the parent company of ABC News.
