50 Cent ends production deal with Starz

After producing several series for Starz, including the Power franchise, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is not renewing his contract and is seeking a new network.

“Starz deal done, we had nothing but success so no hard feelings,” 50 commented on Instagram. “We out.”

Jackson is believed to be entertaining multiple offers from streamers and studios for his G-Unit Film & Television company. An announcement of his new TV partner is said to be imminent, according to Deadline.

The entertainment mogul premiered the second season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan on Starz on August 14. The second season of his Power Book IV: Force is coming, as well as season two of BMF, a third season of Raising Kanan and a third season of Power Book II: Ghost.

In more 50 Cent news, the G-Unit founder is suing a Miami plastic surgeon for using a photo of herself and him to imply he’d received a penile enhancement at her business.

The Fader reports that Jackson filed the lawsuit against Angela Kogan, the CEO of Miami’s Perfection Plastic Surgery and Medical Spa.

The lawsuit states that Logan falsely listed 50 Cent as one of her clients in a since-deleted August interview posted by The Shade Room, titled “Penis Enhancements Are More Popular Than Ever & BBL’s Are Dying Out.”

“This case is about the abuse of a popular entertainer and businessman’s act of goodwill by an unscrupulous business owner for her own economic gain,” Jackson’s attorney wrote.

Lana Del Rey inspires new course at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute

If you need a cure for your “Summertime Sadness,” perhaps a course on Lana Del Rey will do the trick.

According to Variety, New York University’s Clive Davis Institute will be offering a class on the “Video Games” artist, set to run from October 20 through December 8.

NYU professor and writer Kathy Iandoli will teach the course titled “Topics in Recorded Music: Lana Del Rey.”

“In so many ways, I feel like Lana Del Rey is both a blueprint and a cautionary tale, a complicated pop star who resonates so much with her fans, not because of how she makes them feel about her, but rather how she makes them feel about themselves,” Iandoli tells Variety. “There are so many pieces in this mosaic that we have now come to know as Lana Del Rey, and this course examines every dimension of it.”

The Clive Davis Institute previously offered a class on Taylor Swift.

Darius Rucker adds new pieces to NFL x Fanatics line

Darius Rucker is expanding his NFL-themed clothing line.

For the second consecutive year, the singer has partnered with Fanatics for a line of activewear licensed by the NFL featuring “styling touches” by the singer.

Among the new pieces in the fall 2022 line are a black jacket boasting the Miami Dolphin’s logo on the arm, in honor of his favorite football team; a Green Bay Packers fleece black hoodie; Seattle Seahawks sweatpants; and a white button-up shirt with the New England Patriots logo.

“Sitting there with all your team stuff on, I’m honored to do it and proud to do it, but I think [the collection is] also stuff people are going to love,” the hitmaker says. “For me football’s not just about the game, it’s about all that stuff, too. It’s about tailgating, getting ready for the game with your friends, whether you’re sitting in the house or going to the game. It’s a whole experience.”

Darius launched the line in 2021 with 22 pieces and has since added 27 items from 32 NFL teams.

Lewis Capaldi celebrates UK number one by wishing his enemies “nothing but eternal suffering”

Lewis Capaldi has spent most of the time he’s been working on new music joking about how it might be a “massive flop,” but thankfully, that hasn’t come to pass. His long-awaited new single “Forget Me” has debuted at number one on the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart.

“Forget Me” is Lewis’ first chart entry in nearly three years and only the third single this year to debut at number one. One of the other two was Harry Styles‘ “As It Was,” so Lewis is in good company. Overall, it’s his third number one in his home country following “Someone You Loved” and “Before You Go.”

Speaking to OfficialCharts.com about his achievement, Lewis joked, “I can’t thank everyone enough for doing this with me and getting it to this point — even though I did most of the work!”

“This one goes out to all of you, the people who love me, and especially to my enemies,” he continued. “May you all perish in flames and know nothing but eternal suffering. Goodbye!”

He was a bit more serious on Instagram, writing, “I love you all thank you for making this possible for me.”

Mötley Crüe & Def Leppard earn biggest tour of their careers with Stadium Tour

It seems safe to call Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard‘s Stadium Tour a success.

The outing, which also featured Poison and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts on the bill, took in a total of $173.5 million from 1.3 million tickets sold, according to Billboard.

Since Billboard began tracking tour data in the late ’80s, neither Mötley Crüe nor Def Leppard had grossed as much money or had sold as many tickets on any other previous tour.

Both bands’ previous peaks as solo headliners averaged between 10,000-11,000 tickets sold and never more than $1 million earned per show. The Stadium Tour, meanwhile, averaged 37,520 tickets sold and $4.96 million earned each night.

For Mötley Crüe, the tour marked their return to the live stage after playing their “final” show on New Year’s Eve 2015. The concert was preceded by a “cessation of touring” contract, which was meant to legally prevent the “Dr. Feelgood” rockers from touring together again. Upon announcing their return, the Crüe declared that they’d voided the contract.

Adding to the buildup was the COVID-19 pandemic, which delayed the Stadium Tour from its initially scheduled 2020 launch to 2022.

Our first look at Selena Gomez’s documentary ’My Mind & Me’ is finally here

Selena Gomez, the latest artist to have her very own documentary, has released the first trailer on her Instagram.

“My Mind & Me. We don’t get along sometimes and it gets hard to breathe… But I wouldn’t change my life,” she teased in the caption, adding the doc arrives in November.

The trailer shows Selena over the years — from wiping away tears to celebrating major moments of her life. All clips represent fragments of her complex story from the past six years. The trailer offers no narration and allows the fleeting glimpses into Selena’s life to do the talking. White words then appear on the screen, declaring, “Every breath a breakthrough.”

Among the many major events that happened in Selena’s life since 2016 were her final breakup with on-again-off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber, the reception of a life-saving kidney transplant from best friend Francia Raisa, the launch of Rare Beauty and her global effort to normalize conversations on mental health with Wondermind.

An official press release teased a synopsis of the upcoming doc. “After years in the limelight, Selena Gomez achieves unimaginable stardom. But just as she reaches a new peak, an unexpected turn pulls her into darkness,” it begins. “This uniquely raw and intimate documentary spans her six-year journey into a new light.”

Alek Keshishian, the director behind Madonna: Truth or Dare, is helming the documentary, which hits the Apple TV+ streaming service on November 4.

This is Apple’s second jaunt with Interscope Films and Lighthouse Management + Media following its Emmy-nominated documentary, Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry.

Lil Baby fans riot after festival cancellation

A riot occurred at the Vancouver Breakout Festival on Sunday after it was announced that headliner Lil Baby had canceled his performance.

Social media videos show festivalgoers destroying tents, throwing garbage and breaking equipment.

“Following an announcement that the headliner at BreakOut Festival would not be performing, fans turned their disappointment into anger, doing significant damage to the PNE Amphitheatre and parts of Hastings Park,” festival organizers said in a statement, according to Complex. “At this time our first priority is for the safety and wellbeing of our staff as many were deeply affected by the reaction of guests and behavior that ensued.”

The promoters posted on Instagram that the “Drip Too Hard” rapper arrived at the venue but was “too sick to perform.”

On Monday, Lil Baby apologized for not performing in an Instagram Story.

“I have been going so hard these past few months without any breaks that it finally caught up with me and my body completely shut down. I owe you guys big time and will for sure make up for it soon,” the Grammy winner wrote.

His next concert appearance is scheduled for October 8 in his hometown, Atlanta. Six days later on October 14, Lil Baby will drop his third studio album, It’s Only Me.

The Golden Globes to resume as live televised ceremony in 2023

After weathering negative headlines that tarnished the award show’s already controversial reputation, the Golden Globe Awards will return to NBC on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.

The Golden Globes found itself embroiled in controversy in early 2021, after accusations of sexism and racism were leveled at the organization. The organization behind the Globes, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), had long maintained its status in Hollywood despite having zero minority journalists in its voting ranks and engaging in other “unethical conduct,” as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

Additionally, its former president was ousted after an email from him surfaced in which he allegedly referred to Black Lives Matter as a “racist hate movement.”

In response, NBC severed its ties with the organization as stars like Scarlett Johansson, Shonda Rhimes and Mark Ruffalo publicly dragged it. Tom Cruise even went so far as to return his three acting trophies from the organization in protest.

The HFPA subsequently vowed it would be making “transformational changes” to boost minority membership and representation, and increase transparency into the organization and its inner workings.

A 2021 event was held, but it wasn’t televised, and no major celebrities showed up.

In the announcement of the show’s return, Frances Berwick, NBCUniversal television and streaming’s chairman noted, “We recognize the HFPA’s commitment to ongoing change and look forward to welcoming back the Golden Globes to NBC for its landmark 80^thAnniversary in January 2023.”

For her part, Helen Hoehne, president of the organization said, “The HFPA remains committed to important changes and supporting programs that prioritize diversity, inclusion, and transparency. See you on January 10!”

It remains to be seen, however, if the entertainment industry is as “thrilled” as Hoehne is to have the event return.

Ghost notches first appearance on ‘Billboard’ Hot 100 with TikTok-driven “Mary on a Cross”

For the first time in their career, Ghost has a song on the Billboard Hot 100.

The track “Mary on a Cross,” which was originally released on Ghost’s 2019 album Seven Inches of Satanic Panic, enters the all-genre chart this week at #90.

As for how a three-year-old Ghost song — let alone one that was never included on a proper album — made it onto a ranking nowadays dominated by pop, rap and country, the answer is, of course, TikTok. “Mary on a Cross” has gone viral over the past couple months thanks to a Stranger Things-themed post.

Ghost released their most recent album, Impera, in March. It includes the singles “Hunter’s Moon” and “Call Me Little Sunshine,” both of which hit #1 on Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, which Ghost has led a total of five times.

You can catch Ghost on their current tour in support of Impera, which concludes this week. Mastodon and Spiritbox are also on the bill.

Santana extends Las Vegas residency through May 2023

Carlos Santana and his famous band have extended their long-running Las Vegas residency well into the spring of 2023.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers have announced two new eight-date engagements of their An Intimate Evening with Santana: Greatest Hits Live show at the House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. The first runs from January 25 through February 5 and the second from May 17 through May 28.

Tickets for all of the new performances go on sale to the general public this Saturday, September 24 at 10 a.m. local time via House of Blues.com/Santana, MandalayBay.com and Ticketmaster.com. Fans can also call 800-745-3000 to purchase tickets.

Santana fan club members and Citi card members can buy presale tickets starting Wednesday, October 21 at 10 a.m. PT; visit CitiPrivatePass.com for more information. House of Blues, Live Nation and Ticketmaster presales will begin Thursday, September 22 at 10 a.m. PT.

Part of the money from the tickets sold for Santana’s Las Vegas shows benefits the Milagro Foundation, the charity Carlos co-founded that helps young people in impoverished communities around the world. Some proceeds will also be donated to the House of Blues’ Music Forward Foundation, which uses music to help young people develop life skills.

Meanwhile, Santana has three shows left on his current run of House of Blues residency concerts — Sept. 21, 23, 24 and 25 — and the band also has another previously announced eight-date stand this year that’s scheduled from November 2 to November 13.
