After July’s explosive season 3 finale of Amazon’s Emmy-nominated superhero show The Boys, fans will be happy to know work has begun on the follow-up.
On Monday, Homelander himself, Antony Starr, tweeted a throwback photo of the show’s original line-up of The Seven — the series’ skewed take on The Avengers.
“Season one. So long ago. Season four, now we begin ;),” the New Zealand-born actor noted.
Incidentally, the shot caused a bit of confusion, seeing as we’re not used to seeing Translucent, the invisible perv who met his end in season 1. In the shot, Alex Hassell, who played him, is pictured with his face painted green, so that it can be removed digitally afterward, leading to some fans not recognizing him.
Hardy is gearing up for four hard-charging headlining dates in December.
He dubbed the short run of shows the Wall to Wall Tour, taking the name from one of the lyrics of his genre blending, hard rock-infused new song, “Sold Out.”
In keeping with those themes, he’s bringing long-standing rock outfit Puddle of Mudd to the stage with him for one of the dates in Columbia, South Carolina. The other three shows will feature gravelly voiced “Don’t Come Lookin’” up-and-comer Jackson Dean.
“I’m stoked to take this Wall to Wall Tour on the road,” the singer says.“We’re hitting some cities and venues that I absolutely love; I’m happy to have Jackson out with me and honored that the guys from Puddle of Mudd are joining us in Columbia.”
Hardy also says fans can expect the shows to be loud and full of energy.
“It’s going to be a great time — a loud time — every night, and it’s just the beginning of what we have in store,” he promises. “See you out there.”
Michael Bublé welcomed his fourth child, a daughter named Cielo, on Friday with wife Luisana Lopilato. To celebrate their little girl’s arrival, the South American actress shared a behind-the-scenes video of Cielo’s birth.
“The story of 1 unforgettable day,” she captioned the Instagram video. “Touching heaven with our hands! We love you so much Cielo.”
The video, tracked to Michael’s new single “I’ll Never Not Love You,” starts with Lopilato showing off her pregnant belly before she heads to the hospital. The two take several selfies — as well as one posing in front of the urgent care center — and videos around the hospital before heading to the delivery room.
Another photo shows Lopilato in labor, with Michael comforting her and touching her forehead with his. Other clips show the delighted parents cuddling their newborn before walking out of the hospital.
Michael’s made it known he’s head over heels in love with the infant. The Grammy winner shared a hilarious video of himself peering down at his sleeping newborn and acknowledged, “Ok …so I’m obsessed.” He captioned the video, “Cielo’s first TikTok.”
Michael previously told ABC Audio he built his tour around his daughter’s scheduled cesarean section birth. The “Sway” singer performed at Madison Square Garden in New York City Thursday night before flying a red-eye to Canada, arriving at 3 a.m. Vancouver time.
Michael said he would then head to the hospital after he got off his plane.
The happy couple announced Cielo’s birth in a joint statement on Friday afternoon, writing, “You finally arrived to our lives with your 3.8 kg!!! Thanks God for this infinite blessing, we love you!!”
The two share sons Noah, 8, and Elias, 6, as well as 4-year-old daughter Vida.
Netflix announced that the sequel to the hit whodunnit, the Oscar-nominated Knives Out, will debut on December 23.
The streaming service made the announcement Monday to promote a new teaser interview with writer-director Rian Johnson, who revealed the film’s Beatles-inspired title.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will have Daniel Craig reprising as flamboyant detective Benoit Blanc, this time traveling to Greece to solve a case with a whole new set of colorful suspects.
While the original starred Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis and Ana de Armas, the follow-up features another impressive cast, including Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn, Janelle Monáe, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista.
The cast was revealed Monday in a first-look photo: They’re assembled in a Last Supper-like shot, with Craig’s detective leaning over at the head of a long table, addressing them.
Norton plays a tech billionaire who invites a group of friends to his island getaway — where one of them ends up murdered.
Johnson called the movie’s title, “… something fun that Blanc can grab onto as an overwrought metaphor that he can beat to death.”
“This is all in plain sight from the very start. So, the idea of glass came to me, something that’s clear,” he continues.
“I’ll be very honest. I literally got out my iPhone and searched my music library with the word ‘glass.’ … The first thing that came up, because I’m a huge Beatles fan, is ‘Glass Onion.'”
Camila Cabello is teaming up with legendary movie composer Hans Zimmer for a new song.
The two have created the track “Take Me Back Home” for BBC’s upcoming David Attenborough-led documentary series Frozen Planet II, a sequel of the groundbreaking 2011 series about climate change. This marks the first time a song has been specifically created for a BBC One natural history series.
The song, “Take Me Back Home,” stresses the challenges of climate change and the fragility of the planet’s coldest ecosystems.
Camila said in a statement, “To be able to combine my passion for the planet we live on and my music is a dream come true – never mind also getting to work with the legend that is Hans Zimmer.”
“Frozen Planet II is stunning and Sir David’s narration is deeply powerful as we try to protect these incredible ecosystems from global warming,” she continued. “I’m grateful to be able to lend my voice to such an inspiring series.”
The singer also tweeted out, “my life is a dream” after BBC made the news public on Twitter.
Zimmer also praised Camila, saying in a separate statement, “It was hugely exciting composing and recording ‘Take Me Back Home’ with Camila and discovering that her musical talents are as powerful as her voice.”
BBC described the forthcoming series as “a spellbinding six-episode journey through Earth’s magical icy lands including the north and south poles.” It will also show how the ecosystems are struggling to adapt to climate change.
The song will debut globally on Friday, August 26, on BBC Radio 1 and also be released in an extended trailer of the upcoming series, which will post later that day.
Chloe and Halle Bailey have been focusing on their individual careers, occasionally reuniting for festival performances, possibly family-related events and now the cover of Essence. In the magazine’s September/October issue, the sister duo opens up about their lives as solo artists and women who are continuing to grow into their own.
Chloe has become somewhat of a viral sensation since embarking on her solo career. She’s released singles and videos for songs “Have Mercy,” “Treat Me” and “Surprise,” as well as a slew of covers and sexy social media pictures — most of which see her flaunting her vocals and chords. Though she appears to exude confidence, she admits that she doesn’t always feel that way.
“As much as people think I’m so confident, 80% of the time I feel the complete opposite of that. That’s why I put so much of myself into my music. That’s where I feel like myself and where I belong in this life—whenever I’m onstage,” Chloe said.
Her upcoming album, she adds, captures emotions she’s felt from “all the tearing down” and sees her “breaking free” from society’s expectations.
Halle is preparing for the release of The Little Mermaid remake. With time away from Chloe, she tapped into her individuality with a little help from God.
“I’ve managed to find individuality through God—through talking to God every day by prayer, by meditation and through music,” she explained. “I think finding myself is going to be an everlasting journey. And while I feel like I know myself at 22, I’m constantly getting to know more about who I am.”
She also addressed her relationship with rapper DDG, who she’s been a fan of for years. When asked if she’s in love, she replied, “Yes. For sure I am.”
After a two-year pandemic delay, the U.S. leg of My Chemical Romance‘s reunion tour finally kicked off over the weekend in Oklahoma City. In addition to classics “Welcome to the Black Parade,” “I’m Not Okay (I Promise)” and “Teenagers,” the set list featured a number of deep cuts.
According to Consequence‘s recap, Gerard Way and company dug up the songs “Bury Me in Black” and “This Is the Best Day Ever” during the show, which MCR hadn’t played live since 2003 and 2005, respectively.
“Bury Me in Black” is a non-album track that was released as a demo on the B-side of the “I’m Not Okay” single, while “This Is The Best Day Ever” is a cut of My Chem’s 2002 debut album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love.
Also on the set list was the new song “Foundations of Decay,” which MCR premiered earlier this year ahead of their U.K. tour.
The My Chemical Romance reunion tour continues Tuesday in Nashville.
(MIAMI) — U.S. authorities in South Florida are stepping up efforts to crackdown on a recent surge in weapons smuggling to Haiti and the Caribbean, according to Homeland Security officials.
An unusual uptick in the number of high-caliber weapons coming out of the U.S. is believed to be connected with spikes in violence driven by transnational criminal organizations.
“It’s been alarming and disturbing to see the spike of violence coincide with a spike in weapons trafficking out of Miami towards Haiti,” Anthony Salisbury, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations Miami, told ABC News.
HSI is actively pursuing dozens of open investigations in the region related to smuggling. Officials are hesitant to release exact numbers and specifics to avoid compromising prosecutions.
“We will push these investigations as far as we can,” Salisbury said. “It’s not just the people buying guns, it’s not just the people shipping guns — we will go after and, if we can, prosecute the individuals who are receiving the guns out of these countries. That does include both trying to extradite them back to the United States in some cases and working our foreign offices and our foreign counterparts to help prosecute them down in these countries.”
The enforcement crackdown has been coordinated through multiple federal agencies that are part of specialized teams including Customs and Border Protection, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Department of Commerce.
One area of particular focus is the Miami river, home to one of the most unique ports of entry in the United States due to the distance it spans into the interior of the United States.
The Haitian freighters that dock along the 3-4 mile stretch of river are different than the hyper-organized container ships typically seen at large ports. These smaller vessels that dock along the Miami river are more like giant tugboats. Individual packages are often loaded by hand, making it a prime situation for smuggling.
“We’re not going to tolerate this activity,” Salisbury said. “We’re not going to let South Florida willingly be a launching pad for weapons heading down to these countries.”
Last month marked one year since the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse which led to a scourge of gang violence that persists today.
Hurricane season, which runs from June to November in the Caribbean, also threatens to further destabilized the island nation. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has forecasted an increased likelihood of tropical storms turning into major hurricanes.
ABC News’ Ahmad Hemingway contributed to this report.
Thomas Rhett isn’t done with his Bring the Bar to You Tour just yet.
The singer just announced that he’s extending the trek into 2023, and he’s headed up north to do so, with 10 Canadian shows booked for the month of February. Things kick off with an arena date in Vancouver on February 9.
“It’s been an absolute blast being back out on the road this summer and we are so excited to take the tour to Canada next year,” the singer says.
“It’s been forever since we were last able to play for these fans,” he continues. “They always bring an insane amount of energy and we cannot wait to get up there and see them again.”
For the Canadian leg of his tour, TR will bring Jordan Davis and Kameron Marlowe out as his opening acts. Tickets for those shows are going on sale August 26 at 10 a.m. local time.
The Bring the Bar to You Tour is named after one of the new songs off TR’s Where We Started album, which he dropped back in April.
(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — The Columbus teachers union in Ohio is on strike after a vote on Sunday, just days away from the district’s first day of school on Wednesday.
Teachers began picketing outside over a dozen of the district’s schools on Monday morning. The union said it will gather outside schools from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day until a deal is reached.
The Columbus Education Association, with 4,000 members, reached a 94% majority on the vote Sunday.
“It is with a full understanding of the sacrifices that students, parents, and teachers will make together to win the schools Columbus Students Deserve that CEA members overwhelmingly rejected the Board’s last, best and final offer tonight and voted to strike,” Columbus Education Association spokesperson Regina Fuentes said on Sunday in statement.
The Columbus Board of Education called the decision to strike “incredibly disappointing” in a statement on Sunday.
Fuentes said Sunday the board has “tried desperately” to make the compromise about teacher salary, teacher professional development and teacher leaves.
“Let me be clear,” Fuentes said. “This strike is about our students who deserve a commitment to modern schools with heating and air conditioning, smaller class sizes, and a well-rounded curriculum that includes art, music and P.E.”
Jennifer Adair, Columbus Board of Education President, said in a statement on Sunday the board’s offer “put children first and prioritized their education and their growth.”
Adair said the board offered a generous compensation package for teachers and responded to the concerns raised by the teacher’s union during the negotiations process.
The union and board last met in a mediated discussion on Aug. 18, where the board offered guaranteed raises of 3% annually for three years and $2,000 per CEA member in retention and recruitment bonuses.
According to the board, by the end of the contract, a teacher with a current average salary of $74,000 will earn more than $91,000.
The board’s last offer also stated that it committed funds to install air conditioning in every school, with the exception of one that already has central air in about 50% of the building and is slated to be replaced by a new school in a proposed facilities master plan, the board said.
With the 2022-2023 school year scheduled to begin on Wednesday, the board has decided to make back-to-school virtual, led by substitute teachers, in order to begin instruction on time, according to their statement on Sunday.
Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther said in a statement Sunday night that there needs to be another negotiation, in order to get students back in the classroom.
Ginther said the past few years have “underscored the value of our teachers, the resiliency of our kids and the need for Columbus City Schools to position itself for the future.”
He added the pandemic, “more than anything,” made clear that it is essential to get students back into the physical classroom.
“A responsible solution is within reach, but only if negotiations restart now,” Ginther said.
