Time magazine revealed its 2022 TIME100 Next list on Wednesday, naming Keke PalmerSZAJonathan MajorsYahya Abdul-Mateen II and more.

“She changed the world!” fellow musician Lizzo says of SZA.

“The authenticity in her craft — the way she’s able to tell her story and the way she uses melody — is extraordinary. No one can replicate that,” Lizzo says. “When she’s onstage, she’s timeless. She’s someone who’s the real deal, and I think that she’s well on her way to being regarded as one of the greatest songwriters and singers of all time.”

Landing at the top of the “innovators” section of the list is multiple hyphenate entertainer Palmer.

Queen Latifah says she’s “one of the most talented human beings I’ve ever met.”

“Watching Keke evolve as a young woman has been a joy. She is the epitome of grace, poise, and honesty. To watch her grow as an artist, taking on a range of challenging roles — including her stunning performances in Akeelah and the Bee, Pimp, and the critically acclaimed 2022 blockbuster Nope — has been inspiring to me as a fellow actor.”

Michael B. Jordan calls fellow actor Majors a “chameleon,” referring to his on-screen abilities.

“There’s a strong empathy to Jonathan and to his work,” Jordan writes. “He allows people to go on the character’s journey. That’s a really great quality for an actor to have because it invites you into the film’s world.”

“An absolutely beautiful man, inside and out,” says Jason Momoa of Abdul-Mateen II, who falls under the “artist” category.

And what would a list be today without an influential TikToker like Khaby Lame? The social media star rose to fame with his viral reaction videos.

Miranda Lambert’s Velvet Rodeo Las Vegas residency is officially rolling: The country superstar kicked things off over the weekend with her first performance at the city’s Planet Hollywood.

So, what’s she loving most about the show? “The fire,” Miranda tells ET Online with a laugh.

“I mean, I get to have a lot of fire on the stage, and I’ve never had that before,” the singer goes on to say. “Except for, like, at awards shows and stuff. I’ve never taken fire on tour. So this is a treat, every night, to get to blow stuff up.”

Along with all those pyrotechnics, Miranda says she’s been enjoying spending time in Vegas with her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, who is planning to be in the audience for every single show.

Miranda recently teased that fans might get to see Brendan take the stage with her one night. “I’ve promised him he could bring me a tequila shot one night, but not yet,” she told Extra, admitting that her husband is a huge fan of being in the spotlight.

Miranda’s Velvet Rodeo is scheduled to run through April 2023.

Fresh off Richard Patrick‘s live reunion with Nine Inch Nails, Filter has announced a new single.

The track is called “For the Beaten” and will arrive October 14. You can presave it now.

“For the Beaten” is the first new track from Filter in two years, following 2020’s “Murica” and “Thoughts and Prayers.”

“I spent a lot of time in the studio the last two years working on various projects and collaborations but at the core of it all, there is always Filter,” Patrick says. “We chose ‘For the Beaten’ as the first single because it’s dynamic, dark and heavy, just like the moment we are in.”

A new Filter album, the follow-up to 2016’s Crazy Eyes, is also in the works.

As previously reported, Patrick joined NIN along with several other former touring members of the band during their homecoming show in Cleveland over the weekend. Patrick played guitar on NIN’s first tour before leaving to start Filter.

The show featured a performance of Filter’s “Hey Man Nice Shot,” which NIN had never performed live before.

The Last Band on Stage, a new documentary about Chicago and how the group dealt with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, will premiere in select theaters Thursday, September 29, and will be available on demand starting Friday.

The movie, which is narrated by Joe Mantegna, features many of Chicago’s current members, including co-founders Robert Lamm, James Pankow and Lee Loughnane, discussing how the health crisis forced the band to put touring plans on hold for the first time in their 55-year career.

The film also documents the remote recording of the title track of Chicago’s new studio album, If This Is Goodbye, and how the experience led to the group members realizing they will eventually have to call it a day.

A trailer for the documentary has been posted on YouTube. It features various band members talking about the final concert Chicago played before the COVID-19 shutdowns began in March 2020 and their joy in returning to the stage over a year later.

The Last Band on Stage will be released digitally via iTunes this Friday and is available for preorder now.

R&B fans, rejoice!

Ciara and Summer Walker decided to drop off their new single, “Better Thangs,” on Wednesday, two days ahead of its scheduled released this Friday.

“Surprise!! You guys asked for it early, and it’s here!” Ciara wrote in her Twitter announcement. “#BetterThangs feat my girl @IAMSUMMERWALKER is out now!”

The “Level Up” singer shared a short video of what looks to be the two women riding in a golf cart, on the set of a music video. Ciara dons a plush yellow robe and head towel while Summer is draped in a matching green set.

Fans showed excitement at the song’s early release but also expressed their love for the new track.

“Cici this song is a smash, it’s already on repeat,” one user tweeted

“I never knew I needed a Ciara and Summer Walker collab. Love this!! Now this is the type of music we need Ci Ci…” another wrote

“Better Thangs” serves as the second Ci Ci/Summer collaboration, following Ciara’s almost 2-minute monologue, “Ciara’s Prayer,” featured on Summer’s chart-topping 2021 album, Still Over It.

While the duo surprised fans with the new song Wednesday, the official music video is expected Friday, September 30.

Walker Hayes is launching his Glad You’re Here Tour on Thursday, and as fans might expect, his show will feature some choreographed dancing. After all, he got his big break on TikTok, dancing along to his song “Fancy Like,” using moves he dreamed up with his teenage daughter Lela.

One thing fans might not expect is that it’ll be them doing the dancing. Ahead of opening night of the tour, Walker shared a video of the dance moves to an unreleased song called “Show Me the Country.” He said he expects fans to have the dance down by the time they see him on the road.

“Learn it,” Walker wrote on Twitter. “Tour kicks off tmw & this is the first song of [the] set right here.”

Walker’s Glad You’re Here Tour lasts through mid-November, wrapping with a show in Everett, Washington. Parmalee will be the opening act.

Jimmy Buffett is shelving the remaining five dates on his 2022 Life on the Flip Side – Redux tour after being briefly hospitalized and experiencing unspecified health issues.

A message on the 75-year-old singer/songwriter’s official website reports, “On doctor’s orders, he must take this time to recuperate and heal. Jimmy looks forward to getting back on stage next year.”

Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band‘s concerts scheduled for October 8 and October 15 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas have been pushed back to March 4 and March 11, respectively, while a new date for his October 22 show at San Diego’s Snapdragon Stadium hasn’t been announced yet.

Jimmy’s two other 2022 shows, which had been scheduled for October in Salt Lake City and Nampa, Idaho, have been canceled.

Those who purchased tickets for the rescheduled concerts are encouraged to hold onto them, as they will be accepted at the rescheduled events. Tickets for the canceled shows will be refunded.

In other Buffett news, Jimmy has been announced as the final collaborator on Grammy-winning country group Zac Brown Band‘s upcoming deluxe edition of its 2021 album The Comeback, which is due out October 15.

Buffett will join Brown and company on a new rendition of the band’s country hit “Same Boat.” Zac Brown Band and Buffett famously collaborated on the 2011 single “Knee Deep,” which hit #1 on country radio and reached the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100.

Paramore returns with new single, “This Is Why”; next album due out in February

Paramore returns with new single, “This Is Why”; next album due out in February
Atlantic Records

Paramore is officially back.

Hayley Williams and company have dropped a new song called “This Is Why,” which they previously teased earlier this month. What they didn’t tease is that “This Is Why” is also the title track to Paramore’s next album, due out February 10, 2023.

“‘This Is Why’ was the very last song we wrote for the album,” Williams says. “To be honest, I was so tired of writing lyrics but [guitarist] Taylor [York] convinced [drummer] Zac [Farro] and I both that we should work on this last idea. What came out of it was the title track for the whole album.”

“It summarizes the plethora of ridiculous emotions, the rollercoaster of being alive in 2022, having survived even just the last 3 or 4 years,” Williams adds. “You’d think after a global pandemic of f***ing biblical proportions and the impending doom of a dying planet, that humans would have found it deep within themselves to be kinder or more empathetic or something.”

You can listen to “This Is Why” now via digital outlets and watch its accompanying video, directed by Turnstile vocalist Brendan Yates, streaming now on YouTube.

This Is Why is the long-awaited follow-up to Paramore’s last album, 2017’s After Laughter, which spawned the singles “Hard Times” and “Fake Happy.”

Paramore will launch their first tour in four years October 2 in Bakersfield, California.

Jack Harlow named among world’s rising stars by TIME

Time says we need to watch out for “First Class” rapper Jack Harlow because he’s among their 2022 TIME100 Next list of the world’s rising stars.

Late night host Jimmy Fallon praised the rapper in the publication. “‘What’s poppin?’ That was the first time I heard Jack Harlow, and I couldn’t have pulled my phone out any faster to Shazam the song,” Fallon’s tribute began. “That usually leads to a string of phone calls and emails to see if an artist is ready to perform or debut on The Tonight Show.”

He continued, “It’s been fun to ride with him—from that race against time on Shazam, to his debut TV performance, to being part of his viral VMA opening, to his actually co-hosting The Tonight Show with me.”

Others earning nods in this year’s roundup is “Kiss Me More” singer SZA, who earned some serious kudos from Lizzo. The Grammy winner raved, “The authenticity in her craft—the way she’s able to tell her story and the way she uses melody—is extraordinary. No one can replicate that. When she’s onstage, she’s timeless.”

Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, made the cut, and his forward was written by pal Ryan Reynolds. The Deadpool star lauded, “Joe will launch the charm attack of the hero. He’ll do the dirty work of the villain. He’ll hoist up the complicated and often murky portrait of a historical figure. Joe Alwyn will surprise you. He’s managed to do all this while evading the industry’s tried-and-true ability to label and pigeonhole a performer.”

Machine Gun Kelly was also saluted by TIME; Avril Lavigne praised him saying, “He’s grown in the most authentic way, starting as a rapper and evolving into one of the biggest rock stars in the world. I have a lot of respect for him and how thoughtful he is with his craft.”

The Los Angeles Police Department has identified a suspect in the murder of rapper PNB Rock, who was shot to death on September 12 at a Los Angeles Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles.

Police on Wednesday named Freddie Lee Trone as a suspect and are seeking the public’s help in locating him. Authorities say Trone should be considered “armed and dangerous.”

PNB Rock, born Rakim Allen, was fatally shot during a robbery attempt while dining with his girlfriend at the South LA eatery. According to police, a suspect demanded jewelry and other valuables before getting into a struggle with Allen and opening fire.

Police said they received a call about a shooting at 1:23 p.m. ET and found a male victim with gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital.

Tributes from fellow artists poured in for the Philadelphia native, including one from fellow Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill

“Rip dawg you didn’t deserve that…. Every time I see one of my friends bleed out on camera or killed on camera, I feel a sick feeling I can’t even really explain…,” Meek Mill tweeted. “it puts me more and more back in survival mentality!”
