When Miranda Lambert heads to Las Vegas for her Velvet Rodeo residency next month, she’s bringing her #1 fan with her: adoring husband Brendan McLoughlin.
In fact, during a recent conversation with ET Online, Brendan says he’s planning to be at every single one of Miranda’s shows.
“I’ll be there every single night,” Brendan says. “I’ll be watching her do what she does best.”
When it comes to what Miranda does best, she says her residency’s show production will offer a classic country show — with a glitzy Vegas twist. “It’s kind of like the style I’ve been doing lately: country and Western with a lot of rhinestones and fringe … and fire, maybe. I’m very excited about that,” the singer hints.
Miranda’s Velvet Rodeo officially begins September 23, though the singer says she’s planning to head to Vegas a couple weeks prior for rehearsals.
Black Veil Brides have premiered a new single called “Saviour II.”
The track will appear on their forthcoming EP, The Mourning, due out October 21.
As its title suggests, “Saviour II” is something of a thematic sequel to Black Veil’s previously released song “Saviour,” which appears on the band’s 2011 album, Set the World on Fire.
“Black Veil Brides has always been a band deeply interwoven with our fan base and our career has been so heavily predicated on the doors that were opened for us by the passion and dedication that the BVB army has always shown for us,” says frontman Andy Biersack. “In the early days of the band our song ‘Saviour’ was written as a love letter to them, a chance to say we appreciate you and want to do right by you.”
“As the years go by and lives and times change the one thing that has always been a constant is that connection with our audience and while we are just musicians making records,” he continues. “We always want to do our best to provide entertainment, escapism and inspiration to the people who have given us this platform and this song is a chance to reaffirm that message.”
“Saviour II” is available now via digital outlets. Its accompanying video, which features BVB performing in a church, is streaming now on YouTube.
Black Veil Brides are currently on the second leg of their Trinity of Terror tour alongside Motionless in White and Ice Nine Kills. The outing will run through mid-September before a third leg kicks off Halloween night in El Paso, Texas.
Björk has premiered a new song called “Atopos,” the first preview of her upcoming album, Fossora.
In a tweet, the Icelandic artist describes “Atopos” as a “good intro” and “passport” into the world of Fossora.
“Sonically a heavy bottom-ended bass world,” Björk says of the song’s sound. “We have 6 bass clarinets, punchy sub drilling, nesting and digging us into the ground.”
You can listen to “Atopos” now via digital outlets. An accompanying video, which can only be described as “very Björk,” is streaming now on YouTube.
Fossora will be released September 30. It’s the first Björk album in five years and her 10th studio effort overall.
Meanwhile, you can listen to Björk’s new Sonic Symbolism podcast, in which she details the making of her past nine albums. The first three episodes, which cover 1993’s Debut, 1995’s Post and 1997’s Homogenic, are out now.

Britney Spears is not done letting Sir Elton John know how thankful she is to be part of their new collab, “Hold Me Closer.” The pop star sent Sir Elton a “fabulous” gift to celebrate the song’s release, and he finally got in the mail.
“Thank you @britneyspears for the fabulous rocket salt and pepper shakers!!” the British legend tweeted on Friday alongside a photo of the chrome rocket-shaped shakers. “David [Furnish] and I love them.” He also added two red heart and rocket emojis.
Sir Elton’s gift arrived shortly before Billboardannounced the collab has rocketed to the #6 spot on the Hot 100. This marks his 29th song, and Britney’s 14th, to enter the top 10.
It also should be noted the collaboration is Britney’s first top 10 offering in almost a decade. Her last, “Scream & Shout” with will.i.am, peaked at number three in February 2013.
“Hold Me Closer” was streamed 11.1 million times and sold 48,000 downloads in its first week. Its impressive sales allows the hit to top Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart.
Sir Elton previously told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe he is “really happy for Britney” and explained how much the collaboration means to him. “This is someone who has been through hell, who needed some love in her life, a lot of love from a lot of people, and she’s getting it,” the singer expressed, adding he always knew Britney could sing even though some fans doubted she still could.
Sir Elton con, “What I was worried about is if she would be so nervous because she hadn’t done it for a while, but she came through it with flying colors.”
The Stranger Things episode that made Kate Bush‘s “Running Up That Hill” a resurgent hit has won an Emmy.
The Netflix series’ music supervisor Nora Felder earned the Outstanding Music Supervision prize, which was handed out during the Emmys’ two-part Creative Arts ceremony over the weekend. The award specifically recognizes Felder’s work on the episode “Chapter Four: Dear Billy.”
While “Running Up That Hill” is used throughout the latest Stranger Things season, it’s heard most prominently in “Dear Billy” when — spoiler alert — the 1985 single helps the character Max Mayfield escape from the Upside Down villain Vecna.
Following its placement in Stranger Things, “Running Up That Hill” started running up pretty much every chart it could, eventually reaching the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 — a career-first for Bush — and hitting #1 in the English artist’s home country.
The renewed interest in “Running Up that Hill” was so massive that the normally press-shy Bush made several public statements commenting on its newfound popularity and even gave a rare interview.
(LONDON) — Liz Truss became the prime minister of the United Kingdom on Tuesday, shortly after Boris Johnson formally resigned.
Johnson, who had announced his intention to resign two months ago, formally stepped down during an audience with Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral Castle in Scotland on Tuesday morning. A short time later, Truss had her own audience with the 96-year-old queen and was formally asked to form a new government, according to a statement from Buckingham Palace. It was the first time in the queen’s 70-year reign that the ceremonial transfer of power was held at Balmoral, where she is vacationing, rather than at Buckingham Palace in London.
Truss, 47, took office a day after the ruling Conservative Party selected her as its new leader, putting her in line to be confirmed as the U.K. prime minister without the need for a general election because the Conservatives wield a majority in the House of Commons. In a speech following her victory on Monday, Truss said it was an “honor” to be chosen and paid tribute to Johnson, her “friend.”
She is the U.K.’s fourth prime minister since 2016 and the country’s third female premier ever.
In her first speech from the steps of 10 Downing Street, the prime minister’s official residence, Truss once again praised her predecessor as a “hugely consequential prime minister.”
“I’m honored to take on this responsibility at a vital time for our country,” she said, adding that she was “determined to deliver.”
Truss said her three priorities were economic growth, tackling the energy crisis “caused by Putin’s war,” and improving the National Health Service.
Truss previously served in Johnson’s cabinet as the foreign secretary along with Rishi Sunak, the former chancellor of the exchequer whose resignation helped bring about Johnson’s downfall earlier this year.
She ran against Rishi Sunak in the Conservative Party’s leadership election, in which only the 172,000 dues-paying members were allowed to vote. The party’s members cast their votes after eight weeks of campaigning, with Truss — a supporter of Johnson who said she did not back his resignation — emerging as the overwhelming favorite.
The campaign was dominated by questions about what either candidate would do to tackle a looming economic crisis, with household energy bills set to skyrocket this winter and inflation — already reaching a four-decade high at 10.1% — expected to rise even further, according to the Bank of England. Truss and Sunak clashed most fiercely on the issue of tax, with Truss saying she would not raise taxes while Sunak has supported a windfall tax on energy companies’ profits to help ease the burden on households.
Truss has promised action on the energy crisis within a week of taking office, though she has not spelled out her plans in any detail and refused to elaborate when questioned by BBC News on Sunday. She is expected to unveil her plan on Thursday.
Truss will also have the task of uniting a divided Conservative Party. Johnson’s tenure in office was dogged by scandal, most notably with the issue of “Partygate,” or the illegal gatherings held at government residences while the U.K. was under a strict lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic. While Johnson’s supporters will remember him for securing a huge election victory, Brexit and support for Ukraine, Johnson’s detractors say his conduct and flexible relationship with the truth damaged the Conservative Party’s brand.
In an op-ed published by The Sunday Telegraph over the weekend, the leader of the opposition Labour Party, Sir Keir Starmer, said that the appointment of a fourth Conservative prime minister in recent years did not mark a “new dawn” for Britain.
“As summer turns to autumn, the shadows of crisis are lengthening, looming over the whole country,” Starmer wrote. “There is no sign that either Rishi Sunak or Liz Truss have grasped the scale of what is facing us, let alone possesses the answers to it.”
In July, Johnson announced that he had agreed to resign as leader of the Conservative Party, which resulted in his departure as prime minister once the party selected a successor through the leadership election.
“It is clearly now the will of the parliamentary Conservative Party that there should be a new leader of that party and therefore a new prime minister,” Johnson said in a July 7 statement delivered outside his office at no. 10 Downing Street in London.
“I want you to know how sad I am to be giving up the best job in the world,” he added. “But them’s the breaks.”

The superstar took to Instagram to share a snippet of the highly anticipated duet, “Thank God,” that finds the husband and wife singing together for the first time.
The song features a soft, pop-country melody as Kane and Katelyn’s voices unite singing, “I thank God/I get to wake up by your side/I thank God your hand fits perfectly in mine/And thank God you loved me when you didn’t have to/But you did, you do/And he knew/Thank God for giving me you.”

Simple Minds have just debuted a second advance single from their forthcoming studio album, Directions of the Heart, a soaring, alt-rock-flavored tune titled “First You Jump.”
The track is available now via digital formats, and a companion music video has debuted at Simple Minds’ official YouTube channel. The clip features footage of the band performing “First You Jump” during a soundcheck before a concert this past July at the historic Ancient Theatre of Taormina in Sicily, Italy.
Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr tells ABC Audio that “First You Jump” was inspired by a friend’s daughter, who was struggling with depression.
“[C]ertainly when I grew up and where I grew up, people really didn’t walk around talking about their anxiety and that, but it is a huge issue these days,” Kerr notes. “And while we were making the record, a friend of mine, his kid … was suffering really badly. And [in] the song … I’m using that phrase metaphorically. It’s almost like saying ‘keep the faith’ or ‘don’t be afraid.’ Jump in. Things won’t be as bad as you think. You’ll find a way to glide.”
Kerr co-wrote “First You Jump” with bandmates Charlie Burchill and Ged Grimes. Explaining how he wrote the song’s lyrics, Jim says, “I get the music, and … usually it’s very heavy in an atmosphere, which means I perceive pictures. And certainly with that thing, as a piece of music, it almost felt like you were gliding in it. And I had that phrase and I thought it could be good to build a song around that.”
“First You Jump” is the second advance track from Directions of the Heart that Simple Minds has released, following “Vision Thing.” The album is due out on October 20, and can be preordered now.
