Kanye West — and whatever outspoken thing he’s done or said — if often a leading topic in entertainment. As of the last few weeks, it seems the rap star has been making even more headlines than usual.

Struggling to keep up? We’ve broken down some of the current Ye headlines:

Adidas places Yeezy partnership under review

The shoe and clothing brand issued a statement Thursday that said they’re reviewing the partnership with the rapper after attempts to resolve issues behind closed doors. According to Complex, the statement reads in part, “After repeated efforts to privately resolve the situation, we have taken the decision to place the partnership under review.” The news comes after Ye posted images, later shared by The Shade Room, of the brand’s “fake Yeezy” slides back in June.

Ye roasts Kim K’s fashion choices

During the latest episode of The Kardashians, Kim shared a few text messages sent from her ex-husband about her fashion choices. Kim said Kanye reached out about the “orange look” that made him “so mad.” He allegedly said via text, “I would have went to jail before I went out in that.”

Ye says his dad supports his “White Lives Matter” shirt

In a repost by The Neighborhood Talk, the music producer shared a recent text thread between him and his dad about his decision to wear the controversial shirt during a recent fashion show. Ye says he made his “Black Panther father proud.” Since sporting the shirt, Ye has responded to criticism from many celebrities and public figures.

Who should play Kanye in a biopic?

Amid all of the controversy, Ye took to social media to inquire about who’d be best to play him in a movie. His pick was Jamie Foxx, “one of the greatest geniuses,” he said.

By now fans know that Reba McEntire and her boyfriend, Rex Linn, play recurring characters on season 3 of ABC drama Big Sky, but they’re not the only ones repping the country format this season.

Darius Rucker and Lyle Lovett have been tapped to make cameos in an upcoming episode, according to a report from Deadline. Just like Reba’s character, they’re both playing outdoorsy characters in Helena, Montana, who just might be more than meets the eye.

Darius and Lyle play Tex and Possum, respectively, on the show. Partners on a job in the backwoods of Montana, they’ll be part of unraveling the mystery that dominates this season.

Dubbed Big Sky: “Deadly Trails,” season 3 of the hit drama follows law enforcement officers as they attempt to solve a series of disappearances. At the center of the mystery is Reba’s character, Sunny Barnes, who owns a backpacking and glamping company called Sunny Day Excursions.

While the jury’s still out on whether or not Reba plays a villain, one thing is for sure: there’s more lurking in these woods than even the most seasoned outdoors person might expect.

Big Sky airs Wednesday nights on ABC.

(FORT MEYERS, FL) — Power has been restored to more than 2.1 million customers as of Thursday morning in some of Florida’s hardest-hit areas, a week after Hurricane Ian made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane, Florida Power & Light said. Less than 100,000 of its customers are still in the dark, the utility company reported.

“In some of the hardest-hit areas, multiple specialized tree-trimming crews are needed to clear debris for every traditional line crew working to repair or, in some instances, rebuild infrastructure,” FPL said in a statement.

Crews have been working around the clock to restore power to customers and made a lot of progress overnight, Eric Silagy, FPL’s Chairman and CEO, said during a press conference held in Fort Meyers.

“Lots of destruction in the area, many buildings are unsafe and need to be inspected before they can actually have the power turned back on. Even when we have power in the area, you have to make sure that your home, your condominium building, your apartment building or your business can safely be restored,” Silagy said.

Sanibel Island remains inaccessible and FPL cannot turn the power back on in Fort Meyers Beach until search, rescue and recovery operations cease, according to Silagy.

In a statement Silagy said that progress will “slow some” as FPL focuses on the hardest-hit areas.

FPL expects to restore power to 95% of customers in the counties of Charlotte, DeSoto, Lee and Sarasota (south of Fruitville Road) by end of day Friday, except those who cannot safely accept service or who are still located in heavily-flooded area, the company said in a statement.

A total of more than 186,000 customers remain in the dark in Florida, according to PowerOutage.us.

The death toll from Ian continues to rise with at least 120 people, according to local officials. President Joe Biden visited Florida Wednesday to tour the damage and meet with local officials including Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Biden announces pardon of all federal offenses of simple marijuana possession

(WASHINGTON) — President Joe Biden on Thursday announced he is taking executive action to pardon Americans who’ve been convicted of simple marijuana possession under federal law.

The action will benefit 6,500 people with prior federal convictions and thousands of others charged under the District of Columbia’s criminal code, according to senior administration officials.

“No one should be in jail just for using or possessing marijuana,” Biden said in a statement outlining the administration’s new actions. “Sending people to prison for possessing marijuana has upended too many lives and incarcerated people for conduct that many states no longer prohibit.”

“Criminal records for marijuana possession have also imposed needless barriers to employment, housing, and educational opportunities,” Biden continued. “And while white and Black and brown people use marijuana at similar rates, Black and brown people have been arrested, prosecuted, and convicted at disproportionate rates.”

Biden is also urging governors to do the same for individuals with state convictions and is requesting Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra and Attorney General Merrick Garland to expeditiously review how marijuana is scheduled under federal law.

“Why am I doing this?” Chris Hemsworth tries to defy death in Disney+ Nat Geo series ‘Limitless’

“Sure, I may look like an immortal Norse god,” Chris Hemsworth says humbly in the new trailer to an upcoming National Geographic special, “but I know the clock is already ticking.”

The Australian Thor star is trying to literally beat the clock in the Disney+ series Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, which will have him spanning the world, meeting with experts and doing what apparently scares the heck out of him, all in an effort to see how we all can live longer.

Directed by Oscar-nominated Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky, the series will have Hemsworth enduring “six of the biggest tests” of his life, including conquering a fear of heights atop a skyscraper, fasting for four days, and surviving underwater training with his hands and feet bound.

“I want to unlock the secrets to how we can all live a longer, healthier life,” Hemsworth says.

“Oh good luck with that,” his brother Liam jabs in reply.

The “longevity experts” don’t make it easy on him — at one point Chris looks like he’s cracking under the pressure. “Why am I doing this?” he asks himself.

The series is lavishly shot, but it might be worth it just for the sight gag of seeing the cinematic god of thunder hobbling around in a suit that simulates the limits of old age.

“It’s a battle against what time can do to us. So here goes,” he says.

The series begins November 16.

Orlando FreeFall ride to be taken down after teen’s fatal fall

(ORLANDO, FL) — The world’s tallest tower drop ride will be taken down after a Missouri teenager fell to his death while riding it earlier this year, the operator of the Florida amusement park attraction announced Thursday.

Fourteen-year-old Tyre Sampson died after slipping out of his seat while on the Orlando FreeFall ride at ICON Park on March 24. The eighth grader was a star football player who was visiting the theme park with his team.

Orlando Slingshot, which operates the ride, said it has decided to take down the 430-foot-tall attraction in the wake of Sampson’s death.

“We are devastated by Tyre’s death. We have listened to the wishes of Tyre’s family and the community, and have made the decision to take down the FreeFall,” Ritchie Armstrong, an official with Orlando Slingshot, said in a statement.

The timeline for decommissioning the ride, which has been closed since the incident, will be determined pending approval from “all involved parties and regulatory entities,” the operator said.

Orlando Slingshot also plans to create a scholarship in Sampson’s name to honor his “legacy in the classroom and on the football field,” Armstrong said.

ICON Park said it supports the removal of the Orlando FreeFall.

“Tyre’s death is a tragedy that we will never forget. As the landlord, ICON Park welcomes and appreciates Orlando Slingshot’s decision to take down the ride,” ICON Park said in a statement.

An attorney representing Sampson’s mother, Nekia Dodd, said the ride should have been taken down “immediately” after the teen’s death.

“This is not a ride that can be operated safely, given the design defects,” the attorney, Bob Hilliard, said in a statement. “Dismantling the ride is the right move, though it should have been done immediately after Tyre’s death.”

Civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who is representing Sampson’s father, Yarnell Sampson, called the announcement “long overdue” and one his father has been advocating for “since the day Tyre fell to his death.”

“The Orlando Free Fall ride never should have been permitted to operate under those faulty conditions,” Crump said in a joint statement with Hilliard. “Theme parks, their parent companies, and regulatory agencies must do better to prevent this kind of tragedy from happening to any other family.”

Operator error is suspected as the primary cause in Sampson’s death, according to a forensic engineer’s field investigation report released in April. The report showed that the individual operator of the FreeFall ride, who was not identified, “made manual adjustments to the ride resulting in it being unsafe.”

According to the report, manual manipulations were made to the seat Sampson was sitting in to allow the harness restraint opening to be loosened, apparently to accommodate the more than 300-pound teenager. The investigation found Sampson’s harness restraint opening was “almost double that of a normal restraint opening range.”

Sampson’s parents have filed a civil wrongful death lawsuit accusing ICON Park and other defendants of negligence.

Wolfgang Van Halen has opened up about his decision to play Van Halen songs at the two tribute concerts to late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.

The son of late Eddie Van Halen previously said he wasn’t interested in performing Van Halen tunes, but he made an exception in honor of Hawkins. However, as Wolf tells Guitar World, the decision wasn’t an easy one though he did get some help from Dave Grohl.

“I didn’t even know if I could do it,” Wolf shares. “I had a lot of conversations with Dave. What a kind sweetheart of a man he is. We talked a lot about [it].”

“Initially [Grohl] was like, ‘What do you think? Would you be comfortable doing this?'” Wolf recalls. “Initially, I didn’t wanna disappoint Dave Grohl. And I was like, ‘Sure.'”

As Wolf continued to consider Grohl’s proposal, he realized he could do it if the Foo frontman was onstage with him.

“I was like, ‘I don’t know if I could do this, but if I do I need your support. I need you up there with me,'” Wolf recalls telling Grohl. “I was like, ‘Whatever the incarnation of what it becomes, I need you there with me,’ and he was like, ‘Absolutely.'”

For both concerts, which took place in London and Los Angeles, Wolf was joined by Grohl on bass, acclaimed session drummer Josh Freese and The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins. They played “On Fire” in London, “Panama” in Los Angeles and “Hot for Teacher” at both shows.

“It was really special, man,” Wolf says. “I’m super happy and proud with how everything came to be.”

Today, October 6, marks the two-year anniversary of Eddie’s death.

Lainey Wilson says her dad taught her to have a “Heart Like a Truck”

Lainey Wilson’s new single, “Heart Like a Truck,” is all about finding strength through tough times — a familiar subject matter to the singer.

While her career’s been reaching new heights, Lainey has been grappling with some difficult family issues: Her dad was hospitalized this summer, and she even canceled a couple of shows in order to be by his side.

“The person who taught me to have a ‘Heart Like a Truck’ is my daddy,” the singer says in an interview with CMT. “And my daddy has been in the hospital for a couple months now.”

Though she takes all the time she can to be with family, Lainey has also stayed true to doing the job that she loves — playing in front of fans — because her parents raised her to be resilient and tough.

“I’ve been having to play shows and put on a happy face and get up there and do my job, because that’s what my parents have taught me to do. And that’s what they would want me to do,” she continues. “They helped me get to this point and they were my believers before anybody was.”

Lainey goes on to say that she was raised to get back on the horse after falling off — sometimes literally. “Going through things as a little girl, whether you fall off your bike or you fall off a horse or whatever, my parents would say, ‘Get up, dust the dirt off, you got it,’” she says.

Lainey’s tough upbringing is paying off: She was recently named CMT’s Breakout Artist of the Year for 2022 and has earned a whopping six nominations headed into this year’s CMA Awards.
