After much teasing, it’s now official: Rihanna has a new song on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.

The lead track called “Lift Me Up” is a tribute to the late Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman and was written by Tems, Oscar-winning composer Ludwig Göransson, Rihanna and director Ryan Coogler.

Tems says in a statement, “After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them.”

“Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor,” the Nigerian artist adds.

The song comes out this Friday, October 28. It marks Rihanna’s first new music since 2016’s Anti.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – Music From and Inspired By will be available on November 4. The movie comes out November 11.

Marvel is owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.

‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ cinematographer says Lady Gaga’s “going to be a really cool fit” for the movie
ABC/Randy Holmes

Lady Gaga is set to appear in the upcoming Joker sequel — titled Joker: Folie à Deux – and cinematographer Lawrence Sher had nothing but great things to say about the powerhouse singer.

Gaga is rumored to be starring as the nefarious Harley Quinn, opposite to Joaquin Phoenix‘s Joker. While we know she will be in the forthcoming film, the exact role she’ll play has yet to be confirmed.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter‘s Behind the Screen podcast, Sher teased what’s to come with the hotly anticipated sequel and — more importantly — how Gaga fits into the mix.

“She’s just going to be a really cool fit for this movie and will create a similar kind of magic that Joaquin brought by himself,” the cinematographer explained. “I think the combination of the two will be exactly what we hope, which is exciting, and we’ll find magic every day on set.”

Sher added, “Hopefully, we’ll also have a bit of madness in there. So, we like when there is a bit of chaos. So we hope she brings the necessary chaos that Joaquin brought to the first one.”

Though Sher wasn’t willing to part with too much information concerning Gaga’s involvement with the film, he said he’s “super excited” to be working her, as he’s admired for years. “I’m a real believer in her as an artist… I really believe in her as an actor,” he said, adding he was a fan of her performance in House of Gucci.

He also said shooting is set to commence in about five to six weeks, noting they are in “the final steps of prep.”

Joker: Folie à Deux is slated to laugh its way into theaters on October 4, 2024.

(WAUKESHA, Wis.) — Darrell Brooks has been found guilty of intentional homicide for barreling his SUV into a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Six people were killed and dozens were injured when Brooks’ car plowed into paradegoers on Nov. 21, 2021. The victims killed ranged in age from 8 to 81.

Brooks faced dozens of charges, including six counts of first-degree intentional homicide.

Witnesses took the stand for the prosecution, recounting the screaming and crying as victims were struck by the fast-moving car.

“After the vehicle had come through … I looked back and saw all the carnage behind us. My thought then was that we were involved in some sort of terrorist act,” Detective Lukas Hallark said on the stand, according to Milwaukee ABC affiliate WISN-TV. “[There was] overwhelming fear and overwhelming panic amongst everyone in downtown Waukesha.”

Brooks, 40, dismissed his public defenders during the trial and went on to represent himself.

“This incident was not planned, not intentional. This incident was never even thought about,” Brooks told the jury in his opening statement, according to WISN.

Brooks had multiple outbursts during the trial. At one point, he was moved to an auxiliary courtroom due to disruptive behavior. Judge Jennifer Dorow said Brooks was “having a stare down with me, it’s very disrespectful. He pounded his fist. Frankly, it’s making me scared,” reported WISN.

The city of Waukesha had always held its Christmas parade before Thanksgiving. But this year the parade will take place on Dec. 4.

“By adjusting the Christmas Parade date, more resources are available for staffing in cases of unplanned emergencies which includes Police and Fire Department resources, hospital staff, and many others,” the city said in a statement.

(ST. LOUIS) — St. Louis, Missouri, is in mourning after student Alexzandria Bell and teacher Jean Kuczka were gunned down at the Central Visual and Performing Arts High School on Monday.

Several others were injured in the shooting, allegedly carried out by a former student.

Here’s what we know about the lives lost:

Jean Kuczka, 61

Jean Kuczka was a beloved physical education teacher and cross-country coach.

She was also a wife, mom of five and grandmother of seven.

She loved to bike ride and participated each year in a ride that raises money for juvenile diabetes, in honor of her son who has the disease, according to her school biography.

Her bio says she loves “guiding students to make wise decisions.”

“My mom was my best friend,” her daughter, Abbey Kuczka, told ABC News.

“I think we’re all still in shock,” she said, adding, “I think it brings peace of mind hearing all of these stories from her students, and to know how much she was loved.”

Alexzandria Bell, 15

Alexzandria Bell was a sophomore who loved to dance and planned to start culinary school while still in high school, her father, Andre Bell, told ABC Los Angeles station KABC-TV.

“She put a lot of thought into her plan, so I was behind her,” he said.

The teen, bright and charismatic, was a dance major who had also attended a performing arts middle school, Principal Kacy Seals-Shahid told the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

The Jonas Brothers to perform the Cowboys vs. Giants halftime show this Thanksgiving

The Dallas Cowboys will be taking on the New York Giants this Thanksgiving, but for fans of the Jonas Brothers, all eyes will be on the halftime show.

The trio has been tapped to rock the crowds at AT&T Stadium for the nationally televised halftime show this Thanksgiving. The game will air on local FOX channels.

The Cowboys traditionally use their Thanksgiving halftime show to donate to The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign — which is why the game uses the term “Red Kettle Kickoff.”

The Jonas Brothers will don Cowboys jerseys for the performance, opting to wear the numbers 11, 24 and 22.  The jerseys will also be embossed with their last name JONAS on the back as well as The Salvation Army logo.

This is the second time the JoBros have performed the Red Kettle Kickoff — their first being in 2008.

“We couldn’t be more excited to return to AT&T Stadium and play The Salvation Army halftime show,” the group said in a statement. “We are honored that our performance will help raise awareness of the great need that exists and encourage everyone to donate to The Salvation Army to make a difference in their communities this holiday season and all year long.”

It should be noted the Red Kettle Campaign celebrates its 132nd anniversary this year. Last year, it helped support over 25 million people in America.

The Cowboys will square off against the Giants on November 24, starting at 4:30 p.m. ET on FOX. This will mark the second time in history the two teams played against each other on Thanksgiving — their first being in 1992.

‘Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi’ debuts Wednesday on Disney+

‘Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi’ debuts Wednesday on Disney+
‘Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi’ debuts Wednesday on Disney+
Lucasfilm

Wednesday is a good day for Star Wars fans who have Disney+: The streaming service has not only dropped the eighth chapter of its well-received 12-episode series Andor, but it also debuted its animated series Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi.

Lucasfilm’s anthology series of shorts was created by Dave Filoni, the producer of the Emmy-winning Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the co-creator of another Emmy-winning series, The Mandalorian.

Darker in tone than one might expect, the show delves into events that have unfolded in the Star Wars prequels and the Clone Wars series.

Fans will be treated to seeing the earliest days of Ahsoka Tano as well as unseen elements of her training with teacher Anakin Skywalker. Clone Wars vets Ashley Eckstein and Matt Lanter both reprise their respective voice roles.

Also key to the series is the fall of Count Dooku. The villain, played by the late Christopher Lee in the Star Wars prequels, is shown in a different light in the shorts. The Jedi master to apprentice Qui-Gon Jinn — played by Liam Neeson in the prequels and in Tales — is conflicted and fed up with the corruption of the Galactic Senate. This makes Dooku a powerful potential ally to be swayed by his eventual master Darth Sidious, voiced by Star Wars movie veteran Ian McDiarmid.

The show also features the voices of Jurassic World series star and Mandalorian director Bryce Dallas Howard, Clancy Brown, Theo Rossi and another Clone Wars star, James Arnold Taylor.
