Xscape will receive the Lady of Soul honor at the Soul Train Awards 2022.

Group members Kandi Burruss-Tucker, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, Tamika Scott and LaTocha Scott made the announcement on Instagram and added a highlight reel of their videos. The clip also featured a flashback of New Edition announcing the ladies winning a Soul Train Award in 1996.

“Given how important Soul Train is to all of us, we’re so thankful to be honored with the ‘Lady of Soul’ Award this year,” they said. “It’s going to be an amazing night, and we can’t wait to see you all there.”

Jermaine Dupri discovered the Atlanta group and signed them to his So So Def label. Their powerful vocal harmonies laid the foundation for ‘90s R&B and some of today’s chart-topping hits,” BET’s Connie Orlando said in a statement. “Their sound is undeniably unique and masterful. We look forward to honoring these multi-talented artists collectively on R&B’s biggest stage, Soul Train Awards.”

Thomas Rhett, Maren Morris and Carly Pearce are among the country artists getting into the Halloween spirit.

Dressed as Captain Hook from Peter Pan, Thomas took to Instagram Stories to whip up a concoction with his tequila, Dos Primos. Known as the “Spooky Tom,” the cocktail is made of an ounce and a half of Dos Primos with grenadine, orange juice and a dash of activated charcoal to make it “real Halloween-y,” topped off with an eyeball.

Carly shared a throwback Halloween photo of herself dressed as a cat in an all-black outfit with cheetah-print ears and glittery gloves. “I’m a cat, duh!” she captions the photo

Maren and crew, including Jennifer Nettlesdressed up as the cast of the HBO series The Righteous Gemstones, with Maren leading the choir in a performance of a season 2 song. Jennifer reprises her role as Aimee Lee Gemstone, who she portrayed on the show.

Meanwhile, Luke Combs‘ wife, Nicole, dressed up as a ghoul and had some fun posing in a corn maze.

Rather than donning a costume, Miranda Lambert took to Instagram to show off pictures of fans who are dressing as her for Halloween, including one young fan who recreated the cover of her Palomino album and another who found a replica of the blue jumpsuit she wore at the 2021 CMA Awards.

In addition to being estranged from their former bandmates, Noel Gallagher and Johnny Marr now have something else in common.

The former guitarists of Oasis and The Smiths, respectively, have teamed up on a new song called “Pretty Boy” for Gallagher’s High Flying Birds solo project. The track is the first preview off the forthcoming new High Flying Birds album, the follow-up to 2017’s Who Built the Moon?

“For this new record it was the first thing I wrote, the first thing I demoed and the first thing I finished, so it’s only right that it’s the first thing people get to hear,” Gallagher says of “Pretty Boy.” “Massive shout out to my mainest man Johnny Marr for taking it somewhere special.”

You can listen to “Pretty Boy” now via digital outlets and watch its accompanying lyric video streaming now on YouTube.

We’ll see if Noel and Johnny’s union leads to a Liam Gallagher/Morrissey collaboration.

Motionless in White is celebrating Halloween with a video for “Werewolf,” a track off their new album, Scoring the End of the World.

Fittingly for the spookiest day of the year, the clip finds Motionless performing in a creepy, foggy graveyard. It’s probably not much of a spoiler to say that several people turn into werewolves by the end.

You can watch the “Werewolf” video streaming now on YouTube.

Frontman Chris “Motionless” Cerulli previously told ABC Audio “Werewolf” was the band’s “favorite song” off Scoring the End of the World and said they wanted it to have a video that felt like “a modern-day ‘Thriller.'”

Scoring the End of the World was released in June. It also includes the single “Masterpiece,” which hit #1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart.

The Billboard Hot 100 has blown up in a “Lavender Haze” thanks to Taylor Swift‘s Midnights album. For the first time in chart history, all the songs in the top 10 songs are from one artist.

You guessed it, Taylor is now the first artist in history to claim all 10 songs atop the Billboard Hot 100, with her track “Anti-Hero” leading the chart after it was streamed 59.7 million times and sold 13,500 copies in the past week. The song is now her ninth overall number one.

Taylor beats previous record-holder Drake, who previously held the title for having the most songs take up the top 10. The artist sent nine songs into the top 10 in 2021.

With Taylor polishing up the entire top 10 this week, she has now logged 40 top-10 hits — the most out of any female artist. Madonna previously held the record with 38.

Drake is the act to beat in that particular race, as he’s sent 59 songs into the top 10.

Taylor also established another record for herself : She is now the first artist to simultaneously top the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 charts four separate times. Prior to Midnights, her albums evermorefolklore and Red (Taylor’s Version) went to number one, as did their respective singles “willow,” “cardigan” and “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version).”

Looking at stats, the number-one “Anti-Hero” was streamed the most out of any other Midnights song. The track that sold the most copies is “Question…?” — which moved 21,400 copies over the past week. “Question…?” is seventh on the Hot 100.

In June, Jennifer Hudson joined Whoopi Goldberg in the exclusive EGOT club of entertainers who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award. On Monday, during her self-titled talk show, Jennifer paid tribute to The View co-host when she unveiled her Halloween costume.

The Respect star appeared as Whoopi’s character Sister Mary Clarence from 1992’s Sister Act. “Do you think I did okay, y’all?” Hudson asked the audience while striking a pose as the singing nun. “What do you think [Goldberg] will say?”

“I wanted to be in the movie after watching the legend Whoopi Goldberg. She is such an icon. The movie just meant so much to me as a little girl,” Hudson added. “When I saw that movie, it gave me so much inspiration. That’s the power of an icon like Whoopi Goldberg. It helped me create my dreams.”

There were two Sister Act films; Jennifer revealed that the sequel, 1993’s Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, is her favorite. Jenifer Lewis starred with Whoopi in both movies, and the sequel featured Sheryl Lee Ralph and Lauryn Hill. A third movie is now in development.

After Hudson talked about how Sister Act inspired her career, she was joined by a choir and performed the Sister Act musical finale, ending like Goldberg did in the first film, attached to wires while being lifted above the stage.

Michael Jackson‘s son Prince Jackson opened up about the grief he experienced since losing his father in 2009.

“It’s still a process for me, a grieving process and a journey that I’ve been on,” he told Entertainment Tonight before offering his advice to others who are in his shoes. “You have to do what makes you feel good and whatever helps you deal with the loss of someone that you loved significantly… As long as you celebrate them, they’re never gone.”

Prince knows his father is still being celebrated and lauded the 40th anniversary of his dad’s smash-hit single “Thriller.”

“It makes me feel so proud to have a history and a heritage, and proud of what my dad accomplished over the years,” he expressed. “Here we are at the 40th, and to be celebrating it and to see so much love and so much respect for my father, still to this day, is incredible.”

Prince also shared his thoughts on crowning a new “King of Pop,” a title once held by his dad. Prince argued in favor of retiring the moniker. “The ‘King of Pop’ is a unique achievement, because [Michael] broke boundaries in countries that didn’t have the same infrastructure that they do now,” he explained.

“He was popular on a global basis — at one point the most famous person in the world. And for all these reasons, and his music, the ‘King of Pop’ is a title that I just don’t think could ever be taken,” Prince continued.

Jackson died on June 25, 2009, at the age of 50.

(BOSTON) — The oldest unidentified homicide victim in Massachusetts, known as the “Lady of the Dunes,” was officially identified on Monday almost 50 years after she was found dead.

FBI investigators in Boston said the victim was Ruth Marie Terry, 37, of Tennessee.

Terry’s cause of death was a blow to the head, the FBI said. Her hands were missing, “presumably removed by her killer so she could not be identified through fingerprints, and her head was nearly severed from her body,” said Joe Bonavolonta, the special agent in charge of the FBI Boston Division.

On July 26, 1974, her dismembered body was found in the dunes in Provincetown.

Investigators said investigative genealogy helped them identify the body.

“This is a unique method that can generate new leads for unsolved homicides, as well as help identify unknown victims,” Bonavolonta said. “This is, without a doubt, a major break in the investigation that will, hopefully, bring all of us closer to identifying her killer.”

The news has been delivered to the victim’s family, he added.

“At this point in time, we can tell you she was born in Tennessee in 1936,” Bonavolonta said. “Ruth was a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, and mother. Investigators have also determined that in addition to Tennessee, she had ties to California, Massachusetts, and Michigan.”
