Jefferson Airplane members attend band’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star unveiling

Jefferson Airplane was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, and the three surviving members of the influential San Francisco band’s classic lineup — singer Grace Slick, guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and bassist Jack Casady — attended the ceremony.

Before Slick, Kaukonen and Casady hit the podium to accept the honor, Doors drummer John Densmore gave a speech acknowledging the group’s main members, including late singer/guitarist Paul Kantner, vocalist Marty Balin and drummer Spencer Dryden.

Hollywood Chamber of Commerce chair Lupita Sanchez Cornejo, who emceed the event, then read a proclamation declaring it Jefferson Airplane Day in Hollywood.

Slick, who hasn’t appeared in public very often in recent years, began by declaring, “I am one lucky b****. I’ll tell you why. Jack and Jorma are … real musicians. I’m a screw-off who got lucky.” She then explained how, with little experience, she decided to be a rock singer after seeing Jefferson Airplane play in a small club and soon formed her own band, referring to her pre-Airplane group The Great Society.

“It turns out I did have the right voice for rock ‘n’ roll,” Slick noted. “It’s very loud, and I didn’t have any trouble singing over people.”

Also during her speech, she thanked a close female friend who she said saved her life a couple of months ago, revealing the friend got her to a hospital after she’d gone into septic shock.

In addition, Slick pointed out the hat she was wearing belonged to Kantner, who was the father of her only child, daughter China Kantner. “At least his DNA is here today,” she quipped.

Kelsea Ballerini’s grateful for “real-life conversations” with duet partners Carly Pearce, Kelly Clarkson

Since putting out her Subject to Change album last month, Kelsea Ballerini has been vocal about how excited she was to enlist her real-life friends — Carly Pearce and Kelly Clarkson — as duet partners on their honky-tonkin’ collab, “You’re Drunk, Go Home.”

The three artists have their music careers in common, but that’s not all: for one thing, they’ve all experienced divorce. Carly and Kelly both announced their divorces in 2020, while Kelsea’s currently in the thick of hers. She broke the news to fans in August that she and husband Morgan Evans were calling it quits.

“I mean, obviously when we were recording [‘You’re Drunk, Go Home’] things were different,” Kelsea told ET Online on the red carpet for this week’s CMT Artists of the Year when asked if their respective divorces were a bonding experience for them.

“Like I said, we’re friends in real life, and the thing about that is you see us when we’re glittery and we’re doing red carpets — but we have real-life conversations,” Kelsea went on to say. “So it’s really nice to be able to have people that are my peers and heroes that I can go to for music advice, and also life advice.”

At the same event, Carly told ET Online that she’s proud to be able to support Kelsea, who was a big part of her support system when she went through her divorce.

“Kelsea was there through mine,” she said. “I’m there for her through hers.”

Robbie Coltrane, Hagrid in the ‘Harry Potter’ films, dead at 72

Robbie Coltrane, the Scottish-born actor who played Hagrid, the friendly giant in the Harry Potter films, has died, his reps confirmed.

He was 72.

The star, born Anthony Robert MacMillan, appeared on the big and small screen for decades, having gotten his start in stand-up comedy. Coltrane shifted to television, appearing in shows including Flash Gordon, and the beloved Brit shows Blackadder and Cracker.

Coltrane appeared as a shady Russian arms dealer in a pair of James Bond films with Pierce Brosnan in the lead: Brosnan’s first, the franchise reboot Goldeneye in 1997, and his third 007 film, 1999’s The World is Not Enough.

However, it was playing Rubeus Hagrid in the film adaptations of JK Rowling‘s books, beginning with 2001’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, for which Coltrane is arguably best known. Hagrid’s famous line — “You’re a wizard, ‘arry!” — became a catchphrase for the series. The actor reprised the role for 2019’s Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, a roller coaster attraction at Universal Orlando Resort.

Megan Thee Stallion teases her ‘SNL’ appearance this weekend

Megan Thee Stallion is ready to take over SNL this weekend.

The rapper, who will be hosting for the first time and serving as musical guest, previewed her appearance in a series of teasers with cast member Heidi Gardner.

In the first clip, Megan introduces herself and Gardner says, ”It’s going to be an awesome show, all we have to do is write it.” To which a surprised Meg asks, “We got people working on that, right?”

Another clip has Heidi introducing herself as Heidi Thee Gardner and Megan telling her, “Don’t do that.” And in another teaser, Heidi proclaims the episode will be “a real ‘Hot Girl’ SNL.” Megan sticks out her tongue and does her signature “Ah!” – which Heidi tries, and fails, to imitate.

Meg previously appeared on SNL as musical guest back in 2020, where she performed her hits “Savage” and “Don’t Stop.”

Blink-182 takes a trip to the carnival in “Edging” video

Blink-182 has premiered the video for “Edging,” the band’s first new song with Tom DeLonge in over 10 years.

The clip features DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker performing at a carnival while surrounded by a group of people in full-body rabbit costumes. The trio soon goes from rocking rabbits to hunting rabbits, who meet a grisly end by the time the credits roll.

The song “Edging” premiered earlier Friday and marks Blink’s first release since announcing their reunion with DeLonge earlier this week. The band will embark on a worldwide tour in 2023 and plans to release a new album that DeLonge calls “the best album of our career.”

Adam Levine to release “Ojalá,” his first Spanish-speaking song

Adam Levine is putting his cheating scandal behind him by focusing on new music.

Adam has been working on a new song, called “Ojalá,” that has him singing in Spanish. The track is expected to arrive next Thursday, October 20.

This isn’t a solo effort, as the Maroon 5 singer has teamed up with Marry Me star Maluma and The Rudeboyz for the upcoming track.

He teased “Ojalá” on TikTok by releasing 20 seconds of the upbeat tune. The song features a reggaeton beat as Adam sings about an ex and how much he hopes she doesn’t forget him.

This will mark Adam’s first song release since he became entangled in a cheating scandal, in which several women accused him of sending flirty messages on social media. Another woman claimed she engaged in an affair with the singer.

These allegations do not seem to have had an effect on his marriage; wife Behati Prinsloo, who is pregnant with their third child, was most recently seen supporting Adam at The Shaquille O’Neal Foundation’s Las Vegas fundraiser earlier this month.

Michael Bublé releases expanded ‘Higher’ digital edition

Michael Bublé is gearing up for a busy October, with multiple TV appearances, a Dancing with the Stars performance and judging stint, and a new edition of his album Higher.

The Higher Deluxe Edition is available on all digital platforms Friday. It includes three new songs: an original called “We Pray,” the standard “Pennies from Heaven,” and a Spanish song from the 1940s called “Quizás, Quizás, Quizás.” It means “Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps” and has been covered by everyone from Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole to Desi Arnaz and Andrea Bocelli.

On October 17, Michael will appear on ABC’s Good Morning America and Live with Kelly and Ryan to promote the new release, as well as the Dancing with the Stars event. As previously reported, on Monday, October 24, the show will host its first Michael Bublé week. Not only will the contestants dance to his songs, Michael will be a guest judge and take the stage to perform “Higher.”

Michael and DWTS judge Derek Hough — who choreographed the “Higher” video — have been hosting the “Higher” National Dance contest. Fans have been submitting videos of themselves dancing to the song, and the winner will receive a FaceTime call with Michael, a dance lesson with Derek, and tickets to the Dancing with the Stars finale and Disneyland.

Florida Georgia Line readies ‘Greatest Hits’ package, including previously unreleased tracks

The Florida Georgia Line era may be over (at least for now), but they’re leaving fans with something special to remember them by.

The pair announced the release of their Greatest Hits package this week, which includes 15 of their biggest hits. The track list features collaborations aplenty, as some of the best FGL songs over the years have featured other artists: Luke Bryan, Bebe Rexha, Tim McGraw, The Backstreet Boys and Morgan Wallen all make appearances as the track list revisits unforgettable collaborations like “Meant to Be,” “Up Down” and more.

But that’s not all: FGL’s Greatest Hits is sharing three previously unreleased tracks with fans. One of those, “Life,” is out Friday in celebration of the album announcement. Additionally, the album will feature a song called “Invisible” and another called “Rendezvous,” which features Venezuelan internet personality Lele Pons.

The duo’s Greatest Hits project will be available on Target-exclusive vinyl starting October 28. It’ll be available digitally on November 9 and on CD November 11.

Machine Gun Kelly recaps ’Mainstream Sellout’ tour with new “9 Lives” video

Machine Gun Kelly reflects on life on the road in his new “9 Lives” video.

The clip, which is streaming now on YouTube, features footage from MGK’s tour this year in support of his latest album, Mainstream Sellout.

“Life is short but we’ve made some memories,” Kelly says. “Here’s a little thank you letter in music video form.”

Mainstream Sellout, the follow-up to 2020’s Tickets to My Downfall, was released in March. Like its predecessor, Mainstream Sellout was recorded with Blink-182‘s Travis Barker.

“9 Lives” is included on the deluxe Life in Pink version of Mainstream Sellout, which dropped in June.

Gojira drops new single, “Our Time Is Now”

Gojira has premiered a new song called “Our Time Is Now.”

The track is dedicated to “all the fighters out there sparking a light in a dark world.”

“If you care about something meaningful to you and your community,” says frontman Joe Duplantier. “If you are standing for a cause, if you show compassion and solidarity for the ones whose rights are taken away, if you’re in a war defending your inherent rights or fighting against deforestation, if you’re standing for animal rights, human rights, you are the lightning bolt, the spark that will shape our world. Your time is now! Our time is now!”

“Our Time Is Now” is available now via digital outlets. You can also hear it on the NHL 23 hockey video game soundtrack, which includes A Day to Remember, Coheed and Cambria, Ghost, Highly Suspect, Korn, Muse, Turnstile and Shinedown.

Gojira’s most recent album is 2021’s Fortitude, which features the Grammy-nominated single “Amazonia.”
