Warren Haynes’ 31st annual Christmas Jam is sold out, but folks without tickets will still be able to enjoy it. The event is now set to be livestreamed in 4K on Volume.com.
This year’s Christmas Jam is the first time it’s happening in three years. The livestream ticket, which costs $29.99, includes the main concert, happening December 10 at Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Asheville, North Carolina, along with the pre-Jam on Friday at The Orange Peel.
Artists on this year’s bill include Phil Lesh and Friends, featuring Haynes, John Scofield, Rob Barraco and John Molo; Tyler Childers; Gov’t Mule; Brothers Osbourne;and Dinosaur, Jr.
(NEW YORK) — The company behind a popular line of laundry detergent and cleaning products has issued a voluntary recall due to possible bacterial contamination.
The Laundress first issued a safety notice on Nov. 17, urging customers to stop using its products completely.
“We have identified the potential presence of elevated levels of bacteria in some of our products that present a safety concern,” the company wrote in part, before adding that it would provide an update at a later date.
On Thursday, the company expanded the safety notice into a recall.
“The recalled products can contain bacteria, including Burkholderia cepacia complex, Klebsiella aerogenes and multiple different species of Pseudomonas, many of which are environmental organisms found widely in soil and water, and some may also be found in humans,” the company said in its recall notice.
“People with weakened immune systems, external medical devices, and underlying lung conditions who are exposed to the bacteria face a risk of serious infection that may require medical treatment,” the company continued. “The bacteria can enter the body if inhaled, or through the eyes or a break in the skin. People with healthy immune systems are usually not affected by the bacteria.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Burkholderia cepacia complex bacteria, also called B. cepacia, “are often resistant to common antibiotics,” though they pose little medical risk to healthy individuals. However, the CDC notes that “people who have certain health problems like weakened immune systems or chronic lung diseases, particularly cystic fibrosis, may be more susceptible to infections with B. cepacia,” a “known cause of infections in hospitalized patients.”
Symptoms of B. cepacia infection vary, according to the CDC, with some people experiencing no symptoms and others suffering “serious respiratory infections.” The bacteria may be spread through person to person contact, contact with contaminated surfaces, or environmental exposure.
Klebsiella, according to the CDC, is another type of “Gram-negative bacteria that can cause different types of healthcare-associated infections, including pneumonia, bloodstream infections, wound or surgical site infections, and meningitis.”
“…Klebsiella infections commonly occur among sick patients who are receiving treatment for other conditions,” the agency states on its website. “Patients whose care requires devices like ventilators (breathing machines) or intravenous (vein) catheters, and patients who are taking long courses of certain antibiotics are most at risk for Klebsiella infections. Healthy people usually do not get Klebsiella infections.”
The CDC notes that Klebsiella bacteria are often resistant to antibiotics as well.
Klebsiella is spread through person-to-person contact, “or, less commonly, by contamination of the environment,” according to the CDC, The bacteria are not spread through the air.
Pseudomonas, the CDC states, is also found in soil and water and may also cause infections in the blood and lungs, or other parts of the body. The bacteria may be passed by person-to-person contact or through the environment. Those most at risk include patients in hospitals, especially those on breathing machines (ventilators), with devices such as catheters or with wounds from surgery or burns.
So far, The Laundress says the company knows of 11 reported cases of Pseudomonas infections and is investigating whether the infections are connected to their products.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, approximately 8 million Laundress products are affected by the recall, including those produced in the U.S. between January 2021 and September 2022. Affected products were sold both online and at stores such as Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Target, The Container Store and other major retailers.
Customers who bought The Laundress products can submit their information to request a refund. They can also contact the company for additional information via email at customerservice@thelaundress.com or at (800) 681-1915 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
On social media and on their website, The Laundress is directing customers to visit a dedicated website — thelaundressrecall.com — for a full list of affected products, answers to frequently asked questions and directions on requesting a refund.
The company is also asking consumers with recalled products to throw them away immediately. “After requesting a refund, consumers should dispose of the product by closing the bottle tightly and placing it in household trash. Do not empty the product prior to disposal,” the company said on the recall website.
Unilever has owned The Laundress since the conglomerate acquired the brand in 2019. The Laundress was launched back in 2004 by Gwen Whiting and Lindsey Boyd.
At the comic con CCXP22 in São Paulo, Brazil, Thursday, Marvel Studios debuted the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Set to Spacehog‘s ’90s hit “In The Meantime,” the sneak peek of James Gunn‘s third and final Guardians film starts on a lighthearted note, with Chris Pratt‘s Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Dave Bautista‘s Drax, Pom Klementieff‘s Mantis, Karen Gillan‘s Nebula, and of course Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and Groot (Vin Diesel) returning to some alternate earth.
After Drax characteristically doesn’t play nice with a little lemur-human girl, things take a turn for the ominous. “Next summer it’s time to face the music,” a title card reads.
“We have been running our whole lives,” Quill says, apparently taking a stand.
“Pete, I’m done running,” an emotional and seemingly injured Rocket says. “We’ll all fly away together, one last time, into the forever and beautiful sky.”
Along the way, we catch glimpses of the team — including Zoe Saldaña‘s no-longer-missing Gamora — carrying an injured Drax and Quill helping a limping Gamora.
The trailer also shows Quill screaming in grief in an operating room, and Rocket finally embracing another of his kind — a seal that, like him, was apparently experimented upon. We also see the first glimpse of Will Poulter as the “perfect man”-turned Guardians hunter Adam Warlock smashing Nebula’s face.
However, the Guardians aren’t going down without a fight: One image shows Star-Lord shooting back to back with Groot, who’s firing guns from multiple arms he’s sprouted out of his body.
“We are Groot,” he says in a callback to his final words in the 2015 original.

(FAYOUM, Egypt) — A huge 2,300-year-old funerary building and a number of mummy portraits were discovered in Egypt’s southern province of Fayoum, about 37 miles (60 kilometers) south of Cairo, the country’s antiquities ministry said on Thursday.
The building and the paintings, which are famously known as the Fayoum portraits, date back to the Ptolemaic and Roman eras in the 3rd century B.C. They were found in Fayoum’s Gerza village, which was known as Philadelphia during the Roman period.
“The discovered structure is a large building styled as a funerary building with colored gypsum tiled floors,” Adel Okasha, who heads the antiquities department in Cairo and Giza, said in a statement. “To the south of it, there is colonnade hall where the remains of four columns were found.”
The uncovering of the paintings was also hailed as one of the most important archeological discoveries this year, as it marked the first time such portraits were found in more than 110 years.
In the late 19th century and early 20th century, British egyptologist Flinders Petrie excavated at least 150 mummy portraits at a Roman necropolis in in Fayoum’s archeological site of Hawara.
“The discovery shows the diversity and difference in quality of the mummification process during the Ptolemaic and Roman times based on the financial status of the deceased,” said Mostafa Waziry, the head of Egypt’s Supreme Antiquities Council.
Waziry also said a “rare terracotta statue of [ancient deity] Isis Aphrodite was discovered inside one of the burials in a wooden coffin,” as well as “papyrus-made records” with Demotic and Greek inscriptions that show the economic and religious statuses of the inhabitants of the area at the time.
Egypt, which has invested heavily in ancient discoveries in recent years, is hoping to revive its ailing tourism industry. The country also plans to inaugurate a state-of-the-art museum near the Giza Pyramids, which Egypt says will be the biggest museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization.
SZA‘s taking it back a few years with her new Crocs collaboration.

Elton John recently announced he’s adding one more date to his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour — his final tour ever — and fans think it’s going to be a pretty huge festival gig.
Elton kicked off the speculation when he shared a tease on his Instagram Story, “One final date to announce…,” followed by another post that read “Rocket Man is incoming.”
According to NME, fans on social media were quick to guess he was teasing an appearance at the Glastonbury Festival. BBC’s Glastonbury Twitter feed seemed to support, if not outright confirm, the speculation.
“We caught a stunning shot of @glastonbury on our webcam yesterday. Click the link below and hit ‘best shots’ to take a look…,” they tweeted. When fans click the link they are met with a webcam shot of the festival’s Pyramid Stage, with a rocket flying above it, an apparent reference to the Rocket Man.
The timing of the appearance certainly could work with Elton’s schedule. Glastonbury is set to take place the weekend of June 21 to 25 and right now there is a gap in his schedule during that time. He has a June 18 show set for Glasgow, Scotland, then a break until a show in Paris June 25.

All About Cats published its year-end Ultimate Pet Rich List that tells us which pets are the world’s wealthiest and most influential. Coming in third place was Taylor’s Scottish fold.
The website crunched data from Instagram, such as number of followers and likes, to determine how much money a famous pet could potentially earn.
As for how this little kitty is worth nearly $100 million, All About Cats explains, “With a whopping $97 million net worth, Olivia has found success outside of the world of Instagram influencing. The Scottish Fold earned her fortune starring alongside her owner in several music videos, has crafted her own merchandise line, and has had cameos in many big-budget ads, including for the likes of Diet Coke and Ned Sneakers.”
It should be stressed Olivia is third on this list. As for the two acts who beat her, the honor goes to first-place finisher Gunther VI the German shepherd at $500 million and Nala Cat in second place with $100 million.
Hopefully all that fame, money and fortune isn’t going to Olivia’s head.

As we inch closer to 2023, more and more year-end lists are coming out of the pipeline. The latest roundup comes from PETA, who had a special award for Harry Styles.
The organization said the time when Harry was pelted by chicken nuggets onstage was this year’s “Best Viral Moment for Animals.”
PETA shared footage of the moment to their Instagram; the video shows the singer being hit by cold chicken nuggets during one of his August shows at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Harry seemed amused by what was thrown at him — until the crowd told him to eat the nuggets.
“I don’t eat chicken, sorry,” he told the audience. “I don’t eat meat.” He also said he wouldn’t eat the nuggets because they were cold and old.
PETA said Harry “rejecting” the nugget and revealing he doesn’t eat meat is what made the moment worthy of a year-end accolade. “Each person inspired to go vegan by the superstar will save the lives of nearly 200 animals per year,” the organization claimed.

It sounds like we may be getting some new music from Blondie, if you believe Johnny Marr. During an appearance on The Lineup with Shaun Keaveny podcast, the former The Smiths guitarist revealed he’s written a new song for the band.
Johnny previously wrote the song “My Monster” for Blondie and he now shares, “I’ve written another new one for the new, current record that they’re recording,” adding, “I don’t know whether it will end up on the album, you never know. But they seemed to really like it.”
Johnny says hearing Debbie Harry singing his lyrics is “a new level of wow for me because they are my lyrics, Debbie’s singing my lyrics.”
The new song is called “Spectral Eyes,” but Marr says “they took so long recording it” he recorded it himself as a B-side on a 7-inch. He adds, “I wasn’t about to put it on an album, just in case.”
