Poison’s Bret Michaels teaming up with Jefferson Starship, Night Ranger for 2023 Parti-Gras Tour

Poison‘s Bret Michaels is planning a touring music festival for next summer that promises nothin’ but a good time.

Scheduled for a limited run of 12 cities, Michaels’ 2023 Parti-Gras Tour is described as “a celebration of fans, bands, music and an all killer no filler night of hit songs.” Joining him on the road will be Jefferson Starship and Night Ranger, along with special appearances by ex-Journey singer Steve Augeri and Sugar Ray‘s Mark McGrath. On top of that, he’s promising “a nightly surprise guest to rock your world.”

The tour kicks off July 13 in Clarkston, Michigan, and is set to wrap up August 6 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Presale tickets will be available starting December 6 at 10 a.m. local time via LiveNation.com. The public on-sale date is December 9 at 10 a.m. local time.

In a statement, Michaels says of the tour, “I created Parti-Gras as a sincere and grateful thank you to the fans, friends, and family who have rocked with me over the years.”

He adds, “I promise to deliver positive energy, live, raw, real music, and all the bands will deliver sing-a-long hit after hit songs. Your voice will be hoarse after an epic, big, fun stage show.”

Gabourey Sidibe reveals she got married over a year ago

Fans of Gabourey Sidibe may have been waiting for an update about a forthcoming wedding, but it turns out she’s already married.

The actress spilled the beans to Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest on Live with Kelly and Ryan Monday after being asked about her and husband Brandon Frankel‘s plans for the nuptials.

“The thing about weddings is I don’t like them,” Sidibe replied. “Here’s an example of how much I don’t like them: I’m actually married. We got married over a year ago.”

Sidibe and Frankel announced their engagement in 2020; they got married about four months after the proposal, news the actress first revealed during her Ripa and Seacrest appearance.

“I really don’t like weddings,” continued Sidibe, explaining that her aversion to weddings stems from her wedding-singer mother. Despite that, she’ll soon give in to fulfill her mother-in-law’s desire to attend an official ceremony.

In the meantime, Frankel is just relieved that he “can finally tell the world” about being married.

“SURPRISE! I can finally call her my WIFE publicly! Since @gabby3shabby finally spilled the beans today on Live with Kelly and Ryan- we’ve been MARRIED since March ’21!” he wrote. “So thankful to have found my forever person, my partner-in-crime, and the love of my life.”

“Every day is the best day with you. Nobody I would rather raise cats with and be in bed by a smooth 8pm with. Love you forever,” he went on, to which Sidibe commented, “You can finally wear your ring!”

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young coffee table book coming next year

The journey of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young will be detailed in an upcoming coffee table book called CSN&Y: Love the One You’re With.

Due for publication in June 2023, the book features 1,000 photographs and 34,000 words from 20 different contributors, plus an introduction penned by Graham Nash. Those contributors include Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Judy Collins, the late Glenn Frey, Grace Slick, Arlo Guthrie and notable behind-the-scenes music business figures.

The photos are courtesy of famed rock photographer Henry Diltz, who says in a statement, “I have known these guys my entire life as a photographer, way before they even formed a group, and so I have photographed them all separately and together for the past almost 60 years.”

Indeed, the book starts with Diltz’s photos of all four band members while they were in their previous bands: The Hollies, The Byrds and Buffalo Springfield. What follows is decades’ worth of photos of the artists at recording studios, concerts, album covers, benefit concerts and more.

In an excerpt from the book, Neil Young is quoted as saying, “People believe in CSN&Y. When they see CSN&Y, even if it is a nostalgia trip, I want them to believe that life is worth living, and that the rest of their life is going to be better than the first part. I want people to feel an energy from the band that makes you feel great.”

The book is available for preorder now via Genesis Publications: “Collector” copies are bound in vegan leather, signed by both Diltz and Nash, and are available in limited quantities.

Netflix drops ‘You People’ teaser for new comedy film starring Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy

Netflix dropped the teaser trailer for You People on Monday, a new comedy film starring Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy.

The movie, which is directed by Black-ish writer Kenya Barris, follows a couple as they confront generational expectations and culture clashes amongst their families.

The star-studded cast also includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Elliot Gould, Rhea Perlman, Molly Gordon and Andrea Savage.

While this is Barris’ feature directorial debut, he has previously directed episodes of Black-ish and the 2020 series #BlackAF.

You People will be available to stream January 27, only on Netflix.

Paramore announces hometown Nashville show to celebrate ‘This Is Why’ album release

Paramore will be celebrating the release of their new album This Is Why with a hometown show in Nashville.

Hayley Williams and company are set to play Music City’s famed Grand Ole Opry House on February 6, days before This Is Why drops on February 10.

Tickets will go on sale this Friday, December 9, at 10 a.m. local time. You can register for the Fair AXS Ticketing presale, which happens Thursday, December 8, at 10 a.m. local time, now through Tuesday, December 6, at 10 p.m. local time.

The Weeknd teases he composed music for the new ‘Avatar’ movie

First Rihanna sent shockwaves when it was announced she created two new tracks for the recently released movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The Weeknd is now doing the same by teasing he created music for the forthcoming Avatar sequel.

The hitmaker took to Twitter to tease a 12-second clip of what appears to be a dramatic new melody. It was accompanied by a graphic of the letter “A” that was animated to look like moving water with a bird in its center. The Weeknd cryptically captioned the post “12.16.22” — the day Avatar: The Way of Water premieres in theaters.

Then the official Twitter account for the Avatar movie retweeted the post and captioned it with #AvatarTheWayOfWater and added “[with] @theweeknd.”

If that wasn’t enough confirmation for fans, film producer Jon Landau shouted out The Weeknd on Twitter. He shared a photo of the two posing together and wrote, “As the Na’vi say, ‘Zola’u nìprrte’ soaiane Avatar’… Welcome to the Avatar family.”

Landau co-produced the new Avatar film alongside director James Cameron, just as they did for the first movie, which came out in 2009. Landau will also co-produce the third Avatar film, set to be released in 2024.

A title for The Weeknd’s musical contribution has not been announced.

Avatar is being distributed by 20th Century Studios, which is owned by ABC News’ parent company, The Walt Disney Company.

Dolly Parton has arrived on TikTok — and comes bearing a musical gift

Dolly Parton is offering up an early Christmas gift to fans: She’s now got an official presence on TikTok.

“I have arrived!” the star wrote in the caption of her first TikTok post, a montage of videos of her through the years set to her signature “9 to 5.” A handful of other introductory posts quickly followed, including one where Dolly writes, “Better late than never!” and another where she adds, “Now, let’s have some fun!”

Dolly’s arrival on the social media platform was widely feted by fans, fellow stars and even TikTok itself — the account wrote “Welcome, Queen” in the comments section of one of her posts.

“Not everyone is a country music fan, but everyone is a Dolly Parton fan,” another user added.

But Dolly’s arrival on TikTok isn’t the only gift the singer had for fans. She also marked the occasion by releasing a holiday baking-focused track called “Berry Pie” exclusively on the app for users to include in all their holiday posts.

The song is a partnership with SoundOn, which is TikTok’s music marketing and distribution arm.

Of course, TikTok fun is just one of the many ways Dolly is celebrating Christmas this year. She’s also the star of an NBC movie special, Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas, which aired last week.

President Biden salutes U2 at Kennedy Center Honors: “You really make a difference”

Over the weekend, President Joe Biden welcomed the members of U2 to a White House reception honoring this year’s Kennedy Center Honorees, noting their shared heritage in his praise of them and their music.

“From this Irish American president, in the White House designed by Irish hands who built this … I want to thank U2 for all you’ve done and the way you lift people up,” Biden said. “You really make a difference.”

He added, “For more than 40 years U2 has changed the world. Anthems about civil rights, solidarity of workers and the struggle for peace. Ballads about love and family. Concerts dedicated to ending poverty and disease.”

Biden quoted the band’s hit “One,” saying, “At a moment when there’s too much hate, too much anger, too much division here in America, and quite frankly, around the world, we have to remember today, as their song goes, ‘We’re one, but we’re not the same. We get to carry each other.'”

According to the BBC, U2 guitarist The Edge then noted that the ceremony took place almost 42 years to the day that the band played its first U.S. concert: December 6, 1980.

“We had big dreams and like so many people in Ireland, America was the focus of those dreams,” he said. “There is such a close bond between U2 and this country, and we can’t fully explain it but since that very first gig, we’ve always felt warmth and love, but this tonight goes way above and beyond.”

At the gala following the ceremony, U2 was saluted by Sacha Baron Cohen who, in his guise as Kazakhstan journalist Borat, made numerous inappropriate jokes. According to the Washington Post, Eddie Vedder then sang U2’s “Elevation” and “One”; Hozier and Brandi Carlile, joined by Sheryl Crow and others, sang “Walk On.”

Nick Cannon reveals he’s been hospitalized with pneumonia, pays tribute to late son Zen

Nick Cannon, who’s long lived with lupus, was recently hospitalized with pneumonia. He revealed the news on Instagram, along with a reminder to others to take care of their health.

“Okay, so I guess I’m not Superman,” Cannon wrote. “I promised myself I would never be back at this place again…But this is a great lesson to take care of YOU or YOU won’t be able to take care of everyone else.”

According to Nick, he went from “rocking a sold out crowd at Madison square garden in front of thousands of fans” as part of his Wild ‘N Out tour to being “all alone in a tiny hospital room.” He noted that he doesn’t “need any well wishes or prayers” and assured that he’d be fine with “some solid rest,” adding, “I will be back on the journey to becoming stronger than ever.”

“It’s just pneumonia, nothing I can’t handle,” he concluded.

While Nick physically recovers, he admits he’s been struggling mentally and spiritually. The actor’s son Zen passed away a year ago on December 5 following a battle with brain cancer. “Been tossing and turning all night, and as much as I know I need rest, last night I couldn’t sleep at all,” he wrote in a tribute honoring his late son’s death anniversary. “I can’t believe it’s been a year already since the toughest day of my life occurred. Such a painful anniversary.”

“Losing a child has to be the heaviest, most dark and depressive experiences that I will never get over,” he said. “A mixture of guilt, pain, and sorrow is what I suppress daily.”

Nick added, “…I love with my entire Heart and Soul and I just wish my Little Man could’ve felt more of that love while he was here on Earth.”

A$AP Rocky drops music video for “Sh***in’ Me”

(Note Language) Just days after releasing the single “Sh***in’ Me,” A$AP Rocky has dropped the visual for the song.

The Krash-produced track is featured on the video game Need for Speed™ Unbound, and the video, directed by Grin Machine, pays homage to Rocky’s collective AWGE.

“Grin Machine did a great job paying homage to the game collaboration with AWGE with the fun wacky aesthetics, and shout out to krash and hec for the music as always,” Rocky says in a statement.

“Sh***in’ Me” marks Rocky’s third collaboration with Krash, who produced his songs “Buck Shots” and “Black Tux, White Collar.” Both tracks appeared on his most recent album, 2018’s TESTING.

Fans expect that a new album is on the way, but no release date has been announced.
