Good Morning America

Following Adidas’ announcement Tuesday that it was cutting ties with Ye, Gap released a statement reiterating why the company ended its partnership with the rapper last month.

“In September, Gap announced ending its Yeezy Gap partnership. Our former partner’s recent remarks and behavior further underscore why,” the statement reads. “We are taking immediate steps to remove Yeezy Gap product from our stores and we have shut down YeezyGap.com.”

The statement continues, “Antisemitism, racism and hate in any form are inexcusable and not tolerated in accordance with our values. On behalf of our customers, employees and shareholders, we are partnering with organizations that combat hate and discrimination.”

There has been growing pressure on major brands to cut ties with the rapper formerly known as Kanye West after he made antisemitic remarks on Twitter a few weeks ago.

Hollywood talent agency Creative Artists Agency announced Monday that it would no longer represent the rapper, while film and television studio MRC said it would shelve a documentary on West.

Several reports have also stated that brands such as Balenciaga will no longer work with Ye.

Forbes confirmed Tuesday that with the loss of the Adidas partnership, Ye no longer has billionaire status.

As Bono prepares to release his new memoir, Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story, the U2 frontman has revealed his famous band has two new albums in the works.

In an interview with The New York Times, Bono reported that U2 has amassed “about 20” new songs and notes the band “almost finished this album called Songs of Ascent, which we’re not putting out. We’re going to put out a rock ‘n’ roll album.”

The singer also played the interviewer a pair of tracks from Songs of Ascent, titled “The Bard’s Last Breath” and “Smile.”

He described the latter tune as “a very cool, Beatle-y thing,” adding, “It’s a ridiculous pop sort of Rubber Soul, isn’t it?”

Bono said U2 will eventually release Songs of Ascent, but first up will be a “noisy, uncompromising, unreasonable guitar album.”

He further explained, “In among that unreasonableness, it is likely that I will put the part of me, the anger that hasn’t been managed, to good use. While I am, with this book, trying to make peace with myself and my maker, I have no intentions of making peace with the world. That’s not on the agenda.”

Later in the interview, the singer maintained that U2 rediscovered its knack for songwriting with 2014’s Songs of Innocence and 2017’s Songs of Experience.

He added, “Now we need to put the firepower of rock ‘n’ roll back. I don’t know who is going to make our [expletive]-off rock ‘n’ roll album. You almost want an AC/DC, you want [hit-making producer] Mutt Lange. The approach. The discipline. The songwriting discipline. That’s what we want.”

Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story will be released on November 1.

Shonda Rhimes wants to bring back ‘Private Practice’ to TV, says it had “endless possibility”
Good Morning America

Shonda Rhimes, along with her producing partner, Betsy Beers, has created some of the most memorable TV shows of the 21st century, but which of the ones that have ended does she most want to see return?

Though Shondaland shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19 and Bridgerton are still delighting fans, the pair told Good Morning America that she’d most like to see Private Practice, which ran on ABC from 2007-2013, make a comeback.

“I miss my Scandal family so badly that I would come back with them at any point, but I actually feel like we didn’t finish telling our stories on Private Practice,” Rhimes said. “We had so many more stories we could tell.”

She continued, “I just felt like we had so much more to say with those characters and so much further to go, and that also felt like a show that had endless possibility.”

Private Practice starred Kate Walsh, reprising her character Dr. Addison Montgomery from Grey’s Anatomy, alongside a cast which included Tim Daly, Audra McDonald, Paul Adelstein, KaDee Strickland, Chris Lowell, Taye Diggs and Amy Brenneman.

The show also introduced viewers to Caterina Scorsone‘s Amelia Shepherd, now a mainstay on Grey’s Anatomy.

Walsh, for her part, was introduced in the season 1 finale of Grey’s Anatomy before she departed in the season 3 finale to star in the spin-off, Private Practice, with her character in the lead.

Though she would pop up for guest spots and crossover events between the two shows, Walsh didn’t return to Grey’s Anatomy after Private Practice ended until season 18, when she appeared for a few episodes. Walsh is back in a recurring role for Grey’s Anatomy season 19.

Rhimes also revealed that for all her success, there’s another genre she’s looking to tackle: science fiction.

Say hello to Elegant Weapons, a new band featuring members of Judas Priest, Pantera and Rainbow.

The group consists of Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner and drummer Scott Travis, Pantera bassist Rex Brown and Rainbow vocalist Ronnie Romero. In a statement, Faulkner describes the sound of Elegant Weapons as “a mix of Jimi Hendrix, Priest, Sabbath, solo Ozzy and Black Label Society.”

We’ll find out exactly what that sounds like when Elegant Weapons drops their debut album, Horns for a Halo, in 2023.

“This record represents for me more of my DNA as a guitar player and a songwriter,” Faulkner says. “Heavy, but moving slightly outside the realms of ‘heavy metal.’ Those roots are obvious, but I wanted to reach in a bit and see what else came out that wasn’t necessarily ‘expected.'”

Faulkner and Travis are currently on the road touring with Priest, while Brown is preparing for Pantera’s upcoming reunion shows, which will feature vocalist Phil Anselmo alongside Black Label Society’s Zakk Wylde and Anthrax‘s Charlie Benante in place of late brothers “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott and Vinnie Paul, respectively.

Taylor Swift is the first artist in half a decade to sell a million albums in a week

Taylor Swift continues to set records with her 10th studio album, Midnights, which has smashed a record no one has touched in five years: selling a million copies in a week.

But, Taylor didn’t need a full week to land that milestone. She only needed three days.

For comparison, Adele shook up the music market when releasing 30 back in November 2021, but she only sold 839,000 album units in its first week of release. In addition, Harry Styles’ Harry’s House only sold 521,500 copies in its first week back in May.

Variety reports that not only did Taylor sell 1.2 million copies of Midnights in three days’ time, about half of those sales were vinyl.

The outlet said vinyl-sale tracker Luminate confirmed fans snatched up close to 500,000 LP format versions of Midnights. Taylor can pat herself on the back for making fans want to collect them in the first place by releasing four different colored vinyl versions of the album.

She revealed that each album jacket contained a fourth of a clock face on the back, printed in a curve so fans could hang them on the wall to form an entire clock. She craftily sold the hands of the clock to complete the illusion.

Taylor also sold a fifth LP version of her new album exclusively on Target.

One last thing, the last artist to sell a million units in their first week of release was Taylor herself. She hit the milestone back in 2017 after 1.2 million copies of her Reputation album sold in its first week.

We will find out just how many copies of Midnights sell on Sunday when the charts release their weekly sales results.

Walker Hayes is commemorating an important milestone in his life with a new song.

In honor of his seven-year anniversary of being sober, Walker debuted an unreleased song, “Same Drunk,” during a recent live show.

In a fan video retweeted by the singer, he introduces the track by saying, “pretty much anything I touch, I can turn it into an addiction. He continues, “So I wrote this song…It’s called ‘Same Drunk.’ It’s not out yet, but I love testing new stuff out.”

The lyrics speak to all different types of addictions, whether it’s his father cutting grass or his mother being “hooked on looking young.” “Maybe we’re all just the same drunk/Different beer/Trying to cope with all the crazy down here,” Walker sings in the chorus.

The hitmaker addressed his sobriety in his previous single, “AA,” which peaked inside the top five on country radio earlier this year. His current single, “Y’all Life,” is climbing up the country charts.

The initial critics reviews for Black Adam might have had Warner Bros. Discovery execs biting their nails, but as a new ad touts, “the fans have spoken.”

The superhero movie starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson gained just a 39% critics score on the ratings aggregator Rotten Tomatoes but opened to more than $67 million over the weekend, taking the top slot at the U.S. box office and proving the movie, and its star, to be critic-proof.

Johnson admitted as much in an Instagram post Tuesday, in which he forwarded the TV spot, which also touted the movie’s 90% audience score. “THANK YOU SO MUCH to all of you for making BLACK ADAM a monumental and historical WIN this weekend,” Johnson said before adding, “New Era. Audience First.”

Black Adam‘s worldwide take is $140 million.

Nita Strauss has premiered a new solo song called “The Wolf You Feed.”

The track features guest vocals from Arch Enemy‘s Alissa White-Gluz. You can listen to “The Wolf You Feed” now via digital outlets and watch its accompanying video streaming now on YouTube.

“The Wolf You Feed” is Strauss’ second solo song with vocals following 2021’s “Dead Inside,” which featured Disturbed‘s David Draiman. “Dead Inside” hit #1 on Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart.

Strauss is currently on tour playing in Demi Lovato‘s band. She joined the pop star following the announcement that she wasn’t taking part in Alice Cooper‘s fall tour after eight years of playing in the shock-rocker’s live lineup.

Among Strauss’ other gig is playing guitar during Los Angeles Rams’ home games, which, as ESPN reports, earned her a Super Bowl ring. She received the ring after the Rams won Super Bowl LVI earlier this year over the Cincinnati Bengals.
